>>184297If there looks to be any gaslighting in a scene with Brie in it, just say so and we'll stop. Do you mean the joke about bad dice rolls is gaslighting? We can't read your mind.
>>184302>we cant read your mindThats a 2 way street buddy, and y'all come across really adversarial at times
>>184304Some of us get frustrated and that's natural in a tabletop game. I've been frustrated with you, I've been frustrated with Posey, and I've been frustrated with GM Pone. I used to be a lot more sardonic and cracked jokes at players' expense.
Most of us have autism which makes it hard to read others to begin with, and on top of that there is this text format which can be interpreted any number of ways. If you ever have concerns or complaints, just say so in plain language. Brooding and posting vague statements is helpful to nobody, including yourself.
>>184306I have been frustrating, and I will probably be frustrating. What I won't
submit to (deliberate and telling emphasis) is being labelled 'the problem'.
>>184308Again vagueness. Sigh. Its difficult to explain without explaining exhaustively, to the degree that no one cares anymore by the conclusion
>>184309And moreover, its impossible to explain withoit violating confidence, decency, and politemess
>>184308>>184309Who has labeled you 'the problem' and when? Please always be specific. We have all caused problems for GM Pone so I think it would be unfair to single you out.
>>184309>Its difficult to explain without explaining exhaustively, to the degree that no one cares anymore by the conclusionThe health of the game demands that we care. Let's sort this out right now.
>>184310>And moreover, its impossible to explain withoit violating confidence, decency, and politemessObviously, if it has to do with drama outside of the game, or with player privacy, then that can be left out and you can be vague. Just do the best you can. GM Pone has handled such matters with tact while getting the point across.
>>184311Have you ever played with people so long that it doesnt matter what handles, aliases, or characters they adopt, eventually you're like "Oh! Its been them all along!"? Keep that in the back of your head.
No one has expressly insinuated to label me 'the problem', thats a very hyperbolic and loaded term I used deliberately to force the topic.
What appears to have happened and be happening is - in being as non accusatory as possible - I don't appreciate nor feel it is necessary to play along with significant portions of content produced by other players and can be observed to react negatively/aggressively.
I am.prone to belligerent outbursts, and this is known even without lengthy gaming history, its been on full display.
But I dont go around looking to lose my shit, and most of the time I do I feel disgusted and exhausted afterward. Ill admit there are occasions where its life-justifying,....
The nature of anonboard posting is that we're shitposters so fuck (you). But that mentality - funny for anonposting - is toxic as shit for gaming. I guess the problem is I need a better sense of humor? If it can be said that the content is intended to amuse.
Put it this way. When a kid gets flicked, and wet willied, and badgered enough, in spite of the teacher's intentions/awareness, eventually somebody's nose gets broken, but who gets detention?
What I'm driving at is that in life, DnD/gaming, and a particularly noteworthy campaign, there often can be observed players who in the aftermath will admit to having been deliberately playing to upset/troll another player.
I'm so glad this isnt the case here.
>>184316>been deliberately playing to upset/troll another playerI was playing this game for more than a year before you reentered it, m8. It's not about you.
I am going to let GM Pone talk this one out. Is the noteworthy campaign either Mixed Nuts or Kaverns & Kobolds? Those are the only other ones on the board I know of and I also know nothing about them.
>>184318Idk what any of this has to do with either of those games, but I think GM and all the other players don't appreciate him bringing up unrelated games in conversation, especially when nobody else has done so. GM has said this before, and I agree with that sentiment.
>>184312>The nature of anonboard posting is that we're shitposters so fuck (you). But that mentality - funny for anonposting - is toxic as shit for gaming.Have you never played on /qst/? That's all it is, and it's still fun. Nobody takes anything personally.
>>184318>>184319I have expressly not named it. All that needs to be said is that going forward:
I am not going to to allow myself to be repeatedly pestered, bothered, or otherwise messed with, to the degree that I become hypersensitive and start misintepreting innocuous statements as hostile. Ive seen one player do it to another, and its not gonna happen here.
I never wanted to stop spot checking, I THOUGHT the sheep might be mission/context-important, moreso than spot checks. In the future, I will assume that no one is talking to Brie when the next demonic sheep gets loose.
>>184320And just cuz of an autistic fixation for detail:
Right BEFORE the sheep spoke old thestrali at Brie, GM DM'ed me to indicate that the following language was Welsh, intending it to be translated and implying that him freaking out was an intended outcome.
Don't bitch at me about "not doing spot checks, we got surprised cuz of you" when I'm responding to very specific context cues, seemingly custom-directed at my character, please. ^_^
>>184321Everyone else wanted to let the sheep go. You chose to fixate on it.
>>184322Because it made sense for him to in context. Maybe I'm overdoing it a bit, but this is very much an "Alice in Wonderland" (American McGee) sort of story/mission for Brie. Like, completely new to the supernatural. Oh, hes heard of it, and he knows magic is a thing, but most stories are just filly tales and the like. I am trying to affect his gradual realization of the wider world of sinister things.
I wouldnt have even responded to the SCENE if the GM didnt suggest it was something I should respond to
>>184319>>184320I will respect that.
>>184321>>184322>>184323It's just an autism moment. It's easy enough for people to say, "just get a better sense of humor" but if he is mentally unable to do that from factors outside his control then what is he to do? I'm not being condescending btw, I'm just listing the cause. Either we tone down the hijinks when Brie is around (sorry Posey) or we try to be better at giving context clues to indicate when we're serious or not. Even typing
this is a joke might help.
And yes, mundane characters being introduced to the supernatural is part of the Lovecraftian theme of this game. Hallucinating that a sheep is responding to your rape threat in Welsh is not part of that. It's a joke because Welsh people are stereotypical lovers of sheep in the same way that bronies are of horses.
>>184324See, Im only NOW getting the welsh sheep.rape joke,....
>>184325I thought the sheep told Brie something inconceivably random but undeniably perverse in a language only he was likely to recognize
It would be like if you were hanging with your friends and a duck walked up.
Quack, says the duck. But in your head you hear an old language you dont really know and havent heard since you were a child, talking about rape in some capacity
>>184327If you could talk to ducks at all they would likely be talking about that. Ducks are notorious rapists.
>>184328Fair.
I would be concerned in order:
1. Talking duck/voices in my head
A. What the fuck.did it just say???
B. I havent heard anyone speak (that language) since my ex's grandfather
2. No one else noticed
Also we probably killed that sheep by shearing it in the middle of winter.
>>184325Really? I got that at face value. It's literally the shagging-the-sheep idiom.
>>184324>It's a joke because Welsh people are stereotypical lovers of sheep in the same way that bronies are of horses. This, lol.
Also, considering how animals interact with ponies in the show, it makes sense for them to have some degree of cartoonish intelligence.
>>184330I was just thinking that too... I only sheared her because she looked neglected. I forgot it was winter.
We should take the sheep home with us. Gloomy would love her.
Let's have Kira roll to track her down once we're done with the mission.
>>184327I would go home and sleep it off.
>>184330In summary:
I now get why people were on about the sheep incident. I completely missed the context and thought it (the sheep its self) was more important to the scene. I also thought it was intended as an intro into how all 'this' is gonna cause Brie to have his moment of clarity, get his CM, and help kill the bad guy. That comes later, but its precipitated by Brie realizing that he is a small pony in a big world, since he has always seen himself as a big pony in a small world.
Appreciating all this context:
What appeared to be an antagonistic perception/demeanor toward my response to a seemingly intented element to the scene was in fact incomprehension as to why I was fixated on the shiny thing instead of watching out for nasty things.
I have decided to name the sheep Mary.
>>184333That's a pretty good way of describing the situation. It's alright though, now we can go find the Stalliongrader survivors!
I have also decided that I want to claim Mary as 2 gp of my share of the treasure.
Orcus spoke to Rosey Ring through her, and I have decided that she will play a pivotal role in Posey's ambitions, alive or dead.
>>184337If you still have it, I wouldnt even try and tally it. I assumed it ran off, but I would do the same with Rosie's background. If rope is required Brie would really like to not carry it anymore (10 lbs is alot for a sneaky/nimble)
TLDR, now hug it out. Maybe with bellyrubs
>>184324Just to redress this, don't feel you need to pull punches or tone things down on my behalf. This scenario has vee. A very interrsting clusterfuck of very plausible misinterpretation obscuring a much more nuanced situation than I appreciated. I'm sorry it happened, but it has illustrated some things to me about my behavior and why - even if the evidence SEEMS conclusive - I need to step away until I can articulate properly how the situation appears.
>>184354Does Silver need to give Mala bellyrubs?
So, wait, I'm confused. Is a magic rifle not the same as an enhanced rifle?
Strictly mechanically speaking?
>>184370Mala deserves them regardless
>>184374>>184375We haven't seen one in game yet, but mechanically speaking they should be two separate things. Magic rifles are also called "spell rifles" or "spark rifles".
>>184376 →>precision bonusPrevision bonus is already an established thing in 3.5e, and refers to the bonus damage from Sneak Attack, Skirmish or Sudden Strike.
>>184370Someone's jelly.
There's nothing wrong with a stallion giving his best friend some belly rubs.
Besides, it would be impolite to give Posey belly rubs. She's a lady. And potentially unfaithful to Silver's girlfriends.
>>184377Though, since we've found ammunition for one on one of these soldiers, odds are somewhere on that ship is a magic rifle that the ammunition goes to.
>>184378They would be very expensive. You would also probably need to find a proper fence for the weapon if you're looking to sell it as I imagine you couldn't just go into a gun store and sell a top-of-the-line experimental military-grade weapon like that.
>>184381>>184378Or free if you just take one
