>>185315I'm fine with doing it in character from now on if we say we've gotten pictures from encounters we've had so far. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?
>>185316I think a good compromise would be to have taken pictures before the surprise round, and let the previous ones go unphotographed
>>185315>Would you feel better if I just shortened the whole thing and reduced the number of combat events?I mean, if it means getting to the next milestone so we can get our reward, level up, and make general progress, sure I guess.
I was going to recommend simply going around these monsters, but I thought the NPCs could be helpful to us.
>>185315>I don't think it's unreasonable for characters/players to have this tiniest of hoops to go through for what is probably thousands of bits. The player of the character holding the camera wasn't present when we started the encounter.
>>185318That would be a good compromise.
>>185320>>185315Though reduced combat events means fewer pictures...
I'm fine with the normal combat encounters as long as we can maintain our stores of potions. We're pretty well banged up, and we'll only get more and more banged up over time.
>>185322Sorry for undercutting, but so far every major ask Ive made has been precipitated by a lengthy explanation of why it makes motlre sense 'this way', and I feel the frustration of olayers ignoring plot hooks, potential rewards, and interactive content. Besides, there's still plenty to take photos of.
Speaking of, how much FILM does the camera have?
>>185326Again, just to restate, I'm absolutely fine with the current pace of combat encounters if we get some potions to help us along. We're getting pretty banged up here.
>>185330Without knowing what our crossroads decision will be it's hard to say, but ANOTHER common trope is the heroes getting fuckall for their troubles, in spite of saving the day countlessly. Look at Cowboy Bebop, its a gag how theyre always broke.
>>185330I'm none to complain about the situation because Posey didn't take any damage, and because she has her own healing resources, but I can see other characters getting banged up around me and I can't do anything about it.
>>185332Can the dreads be used as inhuman shields?
If I may add my two cents to the matter. DnD has always stood out to me as a combat focused game. Puzzles and such exist, but when I think DnD I think of combat encounters and strategies. That's not to say I don't think other goals and a more investigative campaign style is fun, but if I'm playing DnD and a freak of nature appears my first thought isn't to catalogue it. My first throught is generally to kill it. Maybe if this was something like call of Cthulhu where my brain associated it with a different style of play that mental disconnect wouldn't exist, but also I'm retarded so take what I say with a grain of salt. But for me at the moment, I am playing a warrior with an objective to kill and save others from death.
I know for me, something like when a starfish first died, an offhand comment like "the body withers to dust, making it impossible to photograph for the mission report" or "as the body disintegrates, so does any hope of proving the creature's existence later" would have helped me to think about it. But like I said, milage may vary on the other players. However, I am what the french would call.... Les incompétents.
>>185335and you are, as Silver would call, "милый"
>>185335>what the french would call.... Les incompétents.Pffft, Home Alone. Try something hard. Kidding/references aside, I agree. I understanf GM not wanting to.make it a minis-stratego hybrid, but flanking in 3.5e depends on 2 people being on opposite sides of an adversary, and I am okay with oekaki drawings of it will enable.me to better visualize what GM is trying to describe.
And its not to begrudge the descriptions, its that I dont want to have to ask questions that will delay progress
Final note to gm:
Im coming from the COMMODORE 64 text-based rpg days. I aint asking for fancy. Letters on a grid works fine for me
Just let the record reflect that Posey, and probably other players, want to fight less Ettins and outsiders
>>185345I could argue that, Brie has grenades he hasnt used
>>185345No, I'm fine with fighting monsters. I would just also like rewards for doing so.
Also, corpses are fun
>>185347This. We might be able to arrange for a long rest, which is game changing for us AND GM in planning/story
>>185347Is whatever is on the equine enemies, plus whatever is on the ship, plus whatever can be wrangled out of the quest giver, plus the artifact and other objects already found, not enough?
>>185349I hope it is. Only time can tell.
>>185351What the hell is that supposed to mean?
No. You tell me.
>>185352I just hope we get good rewards later. We won't know until the quest is finished, ergo time will tell.
>>185354The thing about GMs is, you dont always have to get the amazon overnight on your rewards. Sometimes they come in the form of well-stocked and permissive vendors
Let him cook
I think people are misinterpreting my words as complaints. I'm fine with how things are going.
New rule, Sven gets the floor
>>185320Okay, so before this kicks off into a whole 'nother thing and derails the entire thread and game for another week, I'm just gonna come out and say stuff in my usual diplomatic way to hopefully help speed along the recovery process. GM pone is a bit upset with this post, he had a lot of cool stuff and encounters planned for this mission and I think saying you agreed with shortening the whole thing really made him sad and not want to continue today. Something tells me you don't
actually want the whole thing shortened, so far the way Posey's been played it seems like you crave the challenge of combat and getting the chance to show off what Posey can do. My guess is that you just want to be able to level up so you can do cool necromancy stuff, and also maybe some money so you can buy and decorate your own personal lair.
Anyways, just coming out and saying it because I don't want this to spiral into another big issue and this is one of those situations where I think both parties just need to know what's actually going on to be able to talk and fix the problem.
>>185335Agreed, a little detail goes a long way.
>>185377The pacing so far is great and I'm sad that he's upset by apparent dissatisfaction. I think the players are just frustrated from a combination of factors including the specificity of the camera (I know the GM controlled Brie according to how he thought Brie would want to act, but the onus is still on him for neglecting the camera like everypony else), the loot not being flashy for a natural 20 (seems unfair but we're among a ragtag group in a long-ransacked village, but he could've gotten a grenade or something), and running low on resources (personally I like the attrition aspects and loot will be available elsewhere). Saying stuff we don't mean because of this frustration can throw off an attitude of ingratitude.
>>185377Allow me to paraphrase. I speak for no one.
GM pone is more than upset with this post. Not only did it cast doubt onto what GM had going with player, it soiled his interest in involving with other players.
Having dkne simimlar and having length-ly addressed the causes and motiviations behind it - and explained to GM the etymology and everything including how not in future - allow me to suggest it in this case
Let me be clear. Im angry.
Im angry cuz Im not playing because of someone else. I threw alot of ahitfits, but I dont reca stalling the game.
>>185380>you stalled yesterday lol[I]I fell asleep waiting to play cuz of the ame bullshit fucking distractions we've seen all.day!! Ask mr how I know! Its not rocket science, its diversionary awareness tactics. The question is whether its malicious or not.
Funny, the one player reaponsible for upsetti g the GM isnt present. Fucking convenient. After getting hours of direct dialogue.
>>185382He might be asleep or otherwise occupied
get it?.
>>185383Indeed, so best to stop enabling yeah?
>>185385Again, not enabling. There's nothing enabling about explaining what the problem is to someone who might not even know there
is a problem. We're all autistic here to at least some degree, and we all have problems at times picking up on the subtle social cues when there's an issue. When one crops up, the first and most important step in to solving a problem in the group is to ensure clear communication of the issue at hand, that way steps can be taken to fix it without it blowing up in our faces (again).
>>185386But the problem te ds to supercede the precious
And the previous involves other players expressing their character intent
In so doing, one player can supercede the game
>>185384
Well for one, he did say he's sick so we gotta cut him some slack for not being here kinda like I'm about to cut myself some slack for being sick and go to bed.
However, this is another stupid argument that we're gonna end up stalling the game even longer over. Kinda like every argument that ends up happening in this thread, but also I'm of the belief at this point that there is no thing as a good faith argument on the internet so maybe that skews my perception a bit.
Regardless, you got your honesty and you called it enabling.
>>185389>we gott cut slackNo. If bruh wanted slack, he coulda cut out early. Nah, he done. Fucknoff witb the "dindu" shit
>>185390For emphasis
He targeted me after I called UNCLE
>>185390I'm not saying he didn't do anything you troglodyte. It's obvious he's said something that's offended GM whether intentionally or unintentionally, and I think everyone can acknowledge that. What I'm saying is you're getting all in a stink because he isn't here to 1v1 you because he's probably asleep is in bad faith. I get that you're pissed, and I'm sure this definitely won't be the last time we hear that you are, but holy shit calm down for once instead of making a tonne of rambling posts for fucks sake
>>185391>>185390Are we
still on that? I thought we all agreed to never talk about it again.
>>185392>i'm not saying he didn't do anything you troglodyte. It's obvious he's said something that's offended GM whether intentionally or unintentionally, and I think everyone can acknowledge that. Its not that he feels entitled to belanor GM, its everyone else by proxy
>>185394Really enjoying all the twenty dollar words. Mr. Grif said he couldn't even play tonight anyways, I don't think there really was an intention to play even if it wasn't for Posey. It's a Sunday night, and I know I at least have places to be tomorrow and I doubt I'm the only one.
Now I'm going to bed, and I suggest everyone do the same
>>185396I can play and I had later said I could. That said, I don't feel well either so staying up wouldn't be a wise decision.
Goodnight.
Dang is everyone getting sick all at once?
>>185396>>185397Goodnight!
>>185397My apologies, I must have missed that message. I just remember the one where you said you wanted to do combat tonight cause you couldn't play tomorrow. I suppose I have made the boob of myself.
Good night, I hope you feel better than I do.
