RP Thread. Its D&D mixed with shitposting. Classic (flexible) rules, and more autism than you could shake a whole group of autists at, even if you did so autistically. New players area always welcome, whether continuing, one-time, or 'just shitposting'.
Welcome back to the ahem 'Bathhouse', a progressive thread that I'm sure plenty of anons wish would just fucking die already. What, its true,....
This particular beginning is heavily seasoned with enthusiasm and delight. Hot on the heels of killing a bunch of We Wuz, the party almost shattered for several reasons, both in-game and out. In spite of it all, the characters continue on their quest to do,... well,... stuff.
Trumpaladin has been gifted a quest from Lord John Elway. Infernius has been gifted a quest from the Fuhrer, Tracy wants to stab more shit, Torcuil is beginning to get clever with his use of Snek not like that you perv and Thez is thanking her lucky stars that she even exists anymore.

>>47729Pretty sure you don't roll starting gear for pre-existing NPCs.
>Breath weaponIt's a Sonic attack. Like that of a Howler or Yeth Hound.
I want to level up already so Tracy can summon her servant..
>>47730You roll gear for new cohorts (though she's not a cohort)
>>47732I did the math and we have a very, very, very large number of mummies and lichs to kill before the next level
>Sonic affectEh, it doesn't say so in the entry, so I'm guessing for the purposes of whatever usually negates a sonic effect it's not one. It looks like a reference to Dragon breath weapons and lion roars, since it's a supernatural ability
>>47733Or it's not a sonic type that cannot be stopped by plugging the ears. Not mind-affecting
\r
>>47733Several creatures have roar/howl Ex abilities: they're considered to be Sonic weapons.
>>47736Okay. I don't really care what you call it. There is absolutely nothing in the entry for either one that suggests a supernatural sonic attack is anything other than a kind of breath weapon, and if it isn't, I don't give a shit, because I like the idea of a hybrid brass dragon having its own breath weapon and I don't care about pedantry for a fantasy game
>>47735>Not mind-affectingIt's a Charisma-based will save though, so it'd still effectively have the same mechanic.
It's definitely not a Breath Weapon: it'd allow a reflex save in that case.
>Covering your earsFew creatures have that ability, but I doubt any creature unable to hear the roar would be affected. It probably wouldn't affect any deaf creature, or a sonic-immune creature like a Destrachan (fucking love Destrachans btw).
>>47738It probably would've been listed as a spell-like ability if it used any component other than Sonic, so it probably follows the basic rules of Sonic abilities:
https://dnd-wiki.org/wiki/SRD:Sonic_Attack >>47738>It would allow a reflex save if it were a breath weaponDid you even read the entry? It says:
"Some breath weapons allow a Fortitude save or a Will save instead of a Reflex save"
>I doubt any creature unable to hear the roar would be affected. It probably wouldn't affect any deaf creature, or a sonic-immune creature like a Destrachan (fucking love Destrachans btw)All of that shit you made up. None of that is in the entry.
>>47740Did you bother to read the entry for Dragonne? It's an Su - a supernatural ability. Not an Sp or spell like ability. Like a breathe weapon.
>>47741Yeah, I'm just typing out of memory.. It is an Su ability now that I look at it.
I guess it's not far-fetched to treat it as a breath weapon, since only Dragonnes are immune to it, like every other creature with that ability. I wonder what energy it'd be based off.
>this grammar
That's a good sign that it's time for me to sleep..
>>47742Sonic is an energy type, so maybe both at the same time
>>47743I should probably sleep for once
>>47744Considering that it's will-based, it really doesn't matter if you call it a breath weapon or not. The Roar by itself is it's own ability. I just thought it'd be treated just like a howler's roar.
Sonic attacks are great. Too bad so few of them are ally exclusive. Great spread though.
>>47745>Not ally exclusiveShhh! Don't let GM find out, because I want to use this ability in the future
It's a 6 point strength and Dexterity drain for all creatures within 30 feet that fail their saving throws. If I cast Eagle's splendor on self and mount - or if she casts Eagle's splendor on herself when she levels up - then the save DC on her roar rises by another two points
>>47746It isn't though.
That's why I've never bothered to summon a Howler: it'd exhaust everyone but Tracy and Thez.
>>47747Neither the dwelf nor the pony are outsiders
>>47748Tracy is in nightmare form. Thez counts as one because of her Perfect Self class feature.
>>47749I think that was what was bannished though
>Tracy is in nightmare formCreatures with alternate forms retain the type and subtype of the original form. Do you want to be specially vulnerable to banes and various anti-evil outsider spells? Because that's the only difference it makes
>>47750I assumed she counted as one because everything else was the same, but I don't really know or care. The subtype isn't really that relevant for me.
>>47751Either way, she could always just change back into a pony if there's issues.
If I burn/blow-up a building or other lage populated area, and a bunch of NPCs die at once, do I still get XP for killing them indirectly?
>>47733>we have a very, very, very large number of mummies and lichs to kill before the next levelThen we'll just have to re-kill them faster.
Is the party going to try to smack some info out of Kang Doot before the crawl?
>>47754You'll need to supply more hypothetical context. As you have worded it, no.
>>47756It was mostly a joke to stir-up conversation.
But hypothetically, if you set fire to a building to kill an enemy inside, does that count as your kill?
>>47756Now I have a question along those lines.
If Torc somehow set the dust on fire triggering the explosion, how much of the dungeon would that bypass?
Also, can Snek get a chameleon ring?
>>47759The dungeon is made of glassteel, so it's pretty much indestructible to any means except the ship's cannons (your meteor swarm didn't do shit to it, remember).
Remind me to pick-up the shards of material from where we entered, so Tracy can make some collector's-edition shanks.
>>47759>chameleon ringIf you manage to get one, he could wear it on his tail.
You could also just cast invisibility on him, if you wanted. Tracy could also make him a Hat of Disguise, to emulate the effect.
>>47761Snek with hat is /bestmeme/, btw.
>>47762Snek w/ hat thread when?
>>47759Chameleon rings require 13 days of Disguise Self and Invisibility to fabricate.
>>47763>whenSoon...
>>47761>ring or hatYeah, I guess a hat would be good, looks pretty good on sneks for some reason.
But I really wanted that +10 on hide checks
>>47760I know the fire won't do shit to the temple, but the same isn't quite true for everything inside.
>>47764>I really wanted that +10 on hide checksYou and me both…
He'd need it, because he's YUGE, so he takes a -8 penalty on Hide checks.
I'm not sure if he retains his monster skill points after getting class levels, but a Giant Constrictor normally has 10 ranks in Hide.
>>47766But he gets a +4 species bonus for hide checks, so I don't know if that means the -8 doesn't apply to him or what.
>>47767He get's both: -8 size penalty and +4 racial bonus.
>>47768That's not good for a rogue
>>47769>>47770He's not even first level yet, he's level 0
>>47771But doesn't he have 13 levels in snek and probably a familiar HD bonus?
>>47772Do your creature stats really stack with your character lvls?
>>47771>level 0What does that mean, btw?
>>47772Yes and no. He's an 11HD creature, but hasn't gained sufficient experience to advance to level 1 as a Rogue. As a familiar, he gets +9 to his Natural Armor, and has a de-facto intelligence of 14. As a familiar also, he has a default HP of 1/2 Torcuil.
BTW, Torcuil gets +2 on his bluff checks.
Level 0 means that the character has begun to learn the basics of the class, and gets minimal (very) abilities of the class.
Thez for example, declared level 0 Sorcerer. Because of her Charisma bonus she can cast 1 bonus 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th level spell per day, but she only
knows one 0 level spell (Dancing Lights). So she can cast Dancing Lights a bunch of times.
In a comparable manner, Snek would have minimal initial skill points to apply (level one is (8+Int)x4, probably <1/2. Additionally he wouldn't yet be able to sneak attack, etc.
>>47773When determining character level, yes, you stack racial hit die of a monster with its character levels
>>47774I think that means snek is not yet a rogue
Definitely claiming a Silver or Gold dragon as a waifu
>>47772Do characters with PC class levels even get the bonus HD?
>>47775Is there any drawback to taking zero levels?
I might have Tracy late a 0 lvl in Sorcerer then, so she can get Mage Hand and lvl up as an Arcane Trickster.
Could Snek get a top hat with the Shadow enchantment?
