Its that RP thread again! Spectators can shitpost, new players can try it out with little/no investment, and established players need no explanation.
We return as most of the party is either in Sparintenar preparing for a swank banquet - a custom among the Spartans - or speeding towards; except Thez. ;_;
Our newest player Stix is exploring the surrounding forest area, as is his proclivity as a ranger.
Tracy, speeds toward Sparintenar at full speed for some reason unknown to GM at time of OP.
Thez is at the Sticky Wickett, having brought Bones along to have a mostly one-sided conversation, accented occasionally by >doot
Game is temporally not set to fire off at a particular point, but last thread passed 2nd bump so,....

>>56423"You you carry Wonderous items?" Tracy asks, looking around the shop
>>56425Protip, NPCs don't call them "Wondrous Items", they call them curiosities, unique wares, etc. There's no standardization, outside the rule books.
>>56423“Just curious as to what a ranger could do to earn a coin. Oh, and I don’t suppose you can buy this bow of mine? The string snapped and I can’t be bothered to fix it at the moment. Might as well buy a new one later down the road.”
>>56426"I've an interest in magical wares, particularly of the kind that that can assist with stealth. Do you happen to carry anything of the sort in this establishment?"
>>56426Whelp, Trumpaladin seems to have extracted most of what he can out of Sparintenar for the moment. But the airship is gone and his horsefu just vanished. So Trumpaladin asks the Generals to stay for a while and take in the culture of Sparintenar, and hopefully learn a thing or two about combat. He tells relevant ministers that the Generals will be there with the auxilaries to learn and to hopefully set up a football match as demonstration soon
Trumpaladin asks where the road to Silasil is, and rides on Fae on the road towards Silasil
>>56427"I've a couple bowstrings in the back, if you're looking for a replacement. As far as earning coin, you're probably better off looking in the Port to be honest. Its not that there aren't folks out here that could use help, just that they never come here to seek it, they go to the larger areas. From what I hear, there's a pretty open market for mercenaries and private military, which probably includes some jobs for a woodsy-type. I don't know, I'm just guessing to be helpful," he says, shrugging.
>>56428She looks at you with an increasingly widening stare. "No," she says at first. "Well," she says with a wider stare, and then as though she realized the cypher to an impossible riddle she says "Maybe," and her look turns to one of sublime satisfaction, as though she had just performed a great service.
>>56430“I appreciate your help. I will keep that in mind.”
GM, I need your help. You may have overlooked my question, but what kind of money does Stix have, if any? I don’t want to look like a fool and try to buy something without the funds to pay.
>>56431I guess that means he asks about the path to one of the southern cities, and proceeds down the road hoping to go it
>>56433You're right. I noticed it, but I neglected to respond.
The thing is, since ponies are generally/largely naked, I have a hard time envisioning the sort of equipment that might go with a pony adventurer. The best I could imagine "needing" would be perhaps a belt/saddle-like harness for securing goods and such, and maybe a cloak for weather protection. Having said, rangers cover a wide scope of character types. There's the Robin Hood type, who exists on the periphery of society on one end of the spectrum, and on the other there's the wild/mountain-men who probably haven't seen another human in months, have an absurd survival skill, and just exist as a part/force of nature. That's the spectrum of ranger, shall we say, so to answer how much (if any) coin Stix has, you'll need to specify what sort of ranger he is. He naturally gravitated toward the smaller town/village in spite of the thriving port,....
Tl;dr Stix (or any character) can have whatever they want, so long as it makes sense
>>56413Ah, now I remember. It was Adam.
>>56437I mean that Trumpaladin is leaving Sparintenar and is riding towards the Sil-wall on Fae
>>56439"Oh shit," Adam says, somehow perceiving that someone mentioned his name. "This can't be good," he jokes and laughs with the guys at the table. He's at the Duck btw.
>>56436You don’t make this easy... I thought character creation was over
As the type, the wild/mountaineer would be closer, though he has worked with other ponies before in the backstory I gave. He was hired to help protect others and make sure they survive harsh conditions and environments. However, being dead and sent here, I don’t know if money from the previous life would transfer.
To sum up, he would be poor, but have some should the money carry over.
>>56438Oh, if that’s the case... I thought we may need to keep track of funds
>>56438"Commander squirrel can me get a meeting with your spymaster? Me wish to help sparta get rid of a very large problem."
>>56441I'm guessing there isn't anything to be bought at this shop for now, so I guess Tracy should go over to the Duck.
Tracy Disguises herself as a Mexican clown, because why the fuck not, and wanders off over to the Duck.
>>56446I was thinking a female clown, but sure.
>>56440Oh shit. Okay. There's lots to go off of on that. Which point of the Sil-wall?
>GM shuffles papers in front of him>>56442No, I don't. ^_~
For me, D&D (or the Nuts or w/e) is a metaphysical operation.
>>56443From your description, Stix would indeed need to keep track of funds. He doesn't strike me as the most montetarily-resourced individual
>>56444"And what makes you think Sparintenar has spies, let alone a leader of such?" Baz asks through narrowed eyes.
>>56446o_o
Cuz the mexican clown is way less conspicuous than the talking pastel hoers.
>>56448"Just a suspicion me have. You cant use magic on me to see if me telling truth if you want."
>>56448Gatesil and Greensil are the two closest, so which ever of those two is easier to get to...
Though they are both still very far away
>wishes his transportation hadn't abandoned him >>56448Okay, enough clowning around then.. Was just saying that she was trying to look like anyone but herself.
*takes off red squeaky nose, makeup, and oversized clown shoes*
Tracy just does her best to blend in to the scene and not draw attention of anyone that might know her.
>>56450It didn't abandon him, it just ventured to Krenshall cuz reasons. Unless you mean Tracy, which ventured back to Port cuz reasons.
>>56449He cocks his head to one side. "Do I look like a spellcaster?"
>>56442>it went to krenshall unless you mean TracyYes. Either way, Trumpaladin asks about the road to Greensils or to Gatesil. What could he expect in going there?
>>56452"Look me just wish to help you, me sure you have a mage on retainer."
>>56448Ok... so if Stix need to keep track of funds, how do we determine the funds he has? I need to know if he can afford anything. I need some idea of pricing to decide if it is a good bargain, etc.
“How much for this rope good sir?”
[1d20+21 = 35]
Rolling to Move Silently, as Tracy, Disguised as a half-elf in a cloak, walks into the Rusted Duck looking for Adam.
>>56455When Trumpaladin first went intol Port Barry, he found it was full of Jews. So I said that Trumpaladin, previously a member of government law enforcement, had a special check that let him spend pretty much any amount of public treasury funds for the acquisition of weapons, so long as the people the weapons were being purchased from were Jewish. The "Greatest Ally" act. Of course it was unclear if a check of such a nature could transfer funds through dimensions, so instead it was basically a forgery attempting to write an invalid check. But then the Jews he was attempting to defraud were wise to it, and so forth. Fun times
>>56455On the meta side of things, I have endeavored to eliminate cost-resources as being a 'thing'. The characters present and previous have established an working environment that non-exceptional expenditures are and can be considered as paid for, gratis, exchanged, etc. Tl;dr, If Stix needs a bowstring, he strikes me as the sort who would have or could easily procure the barter for a bowstring.
>>56457Scamming jews. That is both the most hilarious and dangerous thing you could ever do.
>>56456"...Shit..! I forgot to ask what Adam looked like." Tracy say to herself, as she looks around the room
>>56458Alright, I guess I will barter for the string, even though the bow is useless now. Kek
“I think I will take that string you have in the back”
>>56462Get a leather jacket and a hat.
"YO HO HO, AND A BOTTLE OF RUM"
Mr. Snek looks about ready to strangle Torc
>>56465Tracy walks up to the Bartender.
"I'm lookin' for a guy named Adam; heard he like to hang out around these parts. Seen 'em?"
>>56470Yeah.
He'd be better with a cowboy hat.
>>56471I approve of Lone Ranger idea
>>56467I didn't say "no bows", I said I was considering restricting them. As a ranger it makes sense to be able to use one, and why the fuck would he have one on appearing if it wasn't useful, I just leave it to the player to innovate how it works. ^_~
>>56469The bartender looks at Tracy for a moment, then bellows "ADAM!", which immediately results in a roar of laughter from one of the tables, and a medium-height, stocky fellow wanders over. "Wha'd I do now?" he says laughingly.
>>56470Is this the Odyssey? Cuz that shit is Homer.
>>56465So, unless there's any critical information any helpful spartan wouldn't neglect to tell him before he departs on his Journey, Trumpaladin starts his way on the Road to Gatesil, packing beef Jerky and some other smoked meats for Fae, tells the Generals to take care, and goes along the road to Gatesil.
It reminds him of the lyrics "when goin' the road to sweet Athy" causing him to start singing aloud. Horribly. Hopefully not annoying enough to make Fae throw him off andd maul him, but possibly.
