Hard to say, but probably because it seems like such a significant and unfair advantage. The fact that it was introduced in a way that suggested impurity and corruption, and especially because it was used malignantly in the first few weeks, cemented it as negative in my mind. Why doesn't your character wear any armor anyway? That's one of the best parts of casting Divine Spells instead of Arcane ones. I'd get it if you were playing a Barbarian (Minotaur's favored class), but Clerics should wear armor, because it sucks if the healer is the first to die/get wounded.
