Well, first of all, they are visibly curved in those pics, just not curved in any particular direction: these lines are hardly ever straight in the first place, so you wouldn't notice the curve even if they were there.
Second of all, they're not long enough to see visible curvature for the same exact reason why you can't see the cube of the horizon.
