This thread begins with Tracy and Trump stuck in a curious sort of trap, their only hope of escape being Infernius who is operating a control panel with around 40 buttons, only one of which will set them free and most of which result in some form of torture or death. The buttons bear the same obscure script as elsewhere which Infernius couldn't read even if it was comprehensible.
Welcome back to the Nuts RP thread, where we're about to go Saw on 2 of the party members!

It's not worth trying to get a set of ligfht armor is it? Is there anything she could get quickly that would provide more protection than her bracers?
>>50579Actually, I forgot about that Darkness abjuration. That's be as good as any set.
>>50574Yep
>>50578Well look a that, Torcuil dies of something horrible that dissolves him from the inside, and wakes up in the entertron
>>50581And 5 regular wraiths, right?
I'm trying to figure out what Tracy and Trump's ECL would've been when only two party members were present, but this math is complicated...
>>505834
Calculating exp is my absolute least favorite aspect of 3.5
>>50584I've calculated 956 for the dread wraiths so far..
Now I'm trying to factor in circumstances, with the environment, and the wall trap...
I'm doing this too see how much I'm willing to sacrifice for permanent spells and how much I wanna save to lvl up..
That's most of the reason I haven't bothered calculating it desu
>>50586Oh, well I guess I won't pry then.
>>50587I just mean, if I can figure it to a ballpark (typically that favors the characters) I will, just cuz by the time I'm close I don't fucking care anymore.
>>50586Well, if I may ask just one question: If I spend 2000-5000 XP on a permanent spell now, will that affect when she levels up?
Please don't misunderstand, I'm not bothered by the subject nor being sarcastic at you/Trcy. The part I don't like about XP is entirely the cumbersome calulations n shit, for a number that is far more detailed than it needs to be.
>>50590I meant more-so on a month-to-month scale: as in, would she have to wait several weeks before she made the difference?
>>50592I doubt it, not significantly.
>>50579Mythril breastplate provides +5 AC before and magical expenditure, and you can add enchantments like Shadow that give a +10 on hide checks, for example
>>50589That would send you back a level
>>50592>far more detailed than it needs to beIkr.
I guess they expected nerds to fight over this kind of stuff, so they made the SRD rules especially meticulous..
I'm fine with the way things are going. I was mostly just trying it once to get a ballpark range of how much she can earn per encounter.
>>50594The armor of Darkness seems best for her, desu. Worth the XP.
>>50596That's not a real armor. That's a spell that last a few minutes
>>50594Nah, it wouldn't. I crunched the numbers.
>>50597GM said she could make it permanent.
>>50598It would absolutely send her back a level
>>505994th lvl spells cost 2000 XP on the permanency table she earned that much in the dungeon from fighting monsters alone these past 2 crawls.
I doubt the undead attack was a clean lvl up either: pretty sure it put them over a few thousand points, when factoring circumstantial stuff.
>>50600First off, there is no "fourth level spell permanency cost." An equivalent to the shadow armor should cost 5000xp minimum depending on the exact effects. Second, while numbers vary, the amount of xp earned could be less than 1000
>>50600>Circumstantial stuffLike the fact that we have ebin weapons and
the fact that there's supposed to be a 50%
miss chance on incorporeal creatures? That should knock down the xp quite a bit
>>50601If you look at the canon-permanent spells: all of the 4th lvl spells cost 2000 while the 5th lvl cost 2500.
Also, GM already said after the mummy fight that it would've been enough to cast a permanent spell without penalty.
>>50602Why are you so insistent on getting less XP? It really shouldn't concern you.
When I say circumstantial stuff, I mean traps they encountered, and presence of party members. The difference is abysmal anyway and I was just looking into it to learn more about the game.
>>50601Also, your equipment doesn't affect the XP you earn. That'd be gay.
>>50603Yeah, it's enough to cast the cheapest of the spells
Not all 4th level spells are alike. The shadow whatever gives darkvision. That alone cost 1000 xp for a permanency. And what is the bonus of this supposed to be? Just the equivalent cost of xp for crafting armor enchantments costs thousands, besides crafting time and high material costs. And then it does other things too. Judging the cost based on the effects it should be very expensive
>>50604And neither do "circumstances" increase xp, which was my point
GM curls up in the corner and cries
>>50603Just get a set of mithril breastplate. It's +5, only a single point of armor check penalty, and you can add all sorts of shit to it
>>50605Tbh, m8. I don't take answers on meta-issues from you. Can you just stop arguing about everything for once?
>>50608No, and if you're going to talk about meta shit constantly, so am I
>>50609Do
YOU seriously want to get into a discussion about
armors?
>>50610You can stack armor bonuses too. Take a +8 armor and Diane Fienstien's +4 bracers
>>50611You explicitly cannot effect bonus with armor-suit bonus as per the rules normally go.
Besides, I want the spoopy darkness armor, because it sounds awesome for a blackguard-rogue.
>>50612Yeah no shit, and I don't want permanency abused in such a way
GM emits a long and beleaguered sigh
>>50606>>50619Shhh shhh, your Fhürer is here.
>>50614Why do you do this everytime? Do you get something out of it?
>>50621Yes. Because fuck that guy
>>50623It's many factors at ounce. He literally joined the game originally just to troll me because he took some silly GET joke deeply personally and followed me around on the board for several months because of it. The biggest issue is that his entire way of approaching the game is to try to cheat every way he can - every way, all the time, constantly, relentlessly, whether it's misremembering his stats or making shit up or taking advantage of generosity - which makes the game less fun because it removes challenge (the source of fun) and makes it harder to compete for glory of killing or accomplishing things. And then he steam rolls constantly, taking his turn before its his turn, and advancing time in the game which can leave all of us behind. Then sometimes he attacks other characters - especially mine - in game, often making use of these unearned advantages. And he's playing an lol evil character in a campaign of good aligned characters, which causes conflict. And he wants to substitute actual personality with spoopy clothes and powers, which is insulting to the OC the character is supposed to be based on. He selectively rules lawyers when it's in his advantages and disregards when it isn't.
All of this would be fine if he weren't a sociopath with no social awareness. He is unapologetic period, he never seems to care about how his steamrolling harms others, and he doesn't care if he is liked
>>50624Then why were you sad when he left?
>>50624>he never seems to care about how his steamrolling harms others, and he doesn't care if he is likedFuck censorship. I won't stand for that one.
I try my hardest every session to make a good character and come up with new ideas to make The Game more fun for all of the PCs. Maybe it's autistic, but I never, even once tried to make The Game less fun.
You're the one who's always acting like an antagonistic, tyranical sourpuss, acting like he's in charge of the rules, and constantly picking fights about meta; banning PCs and deleting posts when things don't go your way. It's tiring, obnoxious, and generally unpleasant to everyone.
>Causes conflictIt doesn't have to. You are the only one who has a chronic issue with it. It was said from the get-go that we could pick any alignment we wanted.
>Selectively rules-lawyersYou do that more than anyone, faggot. I never complain about it, so why can't you just shut up?
It's not your place to enforce the rules of the game.
