Cavaliere's dexterity is 17-1, for an effective score of 16 and a modifier of +3. If I upgraded that he would still get only a +3 modifier unless if he found a way to reverse age like Silver. His intelligence is 14+1 for an effective score of 15 and a modifier of +2. Assuming middle age doesn't get removed, isn't it just better to increase a stat's modifier compared to increasing a stat without changing the modifier?

Considering a normal +2 dagger would cost over 8k, the bracers might be a bit outside your budget for this level.
Let me see if I can research something more affordable.

One perk of crafting: you can get items earlier. I always run Artificers with Extraordinary Artisan and Magical Artisan, to quarter the price.

Honestly, for thematics more than anything.
Advanced Dagger Mastery is worded such that it could be said to apply to short swords (it says daggers and dagger-like) so he could have kept/used it maybe. However, I like/want the aesthetic of matching fighting blades even though he never fights double-hooved (well, gun in one hoof maybe). Plus it was more of a Gladius shape, where I'm leaning into the Kiria/japanese aesthetics and theme.
Also it was a way of incentivizing GM to give me something cool for my magnanimity :3
Fuck. Out loud? Again?
Brie is not a klepto-style rogue, and only carries what he will use in the conceivable future. He went to the meeting at customs unarmed (except the teapot, it can be used as an improvised ceramic club)

You could also use Eggshell Grenades (Dust). They're cheaper than smokesticks (10 gp vs 20 gp). A direct touch attack with them blinds that target for 1d4 rounds (no save), and creatures within 5' of the target make a DC 10 Fortitude save or be blinded for 1 round.
Posey has a couple. I'll give them to you. They're better off in the hands of a sneak attacker anyway (they were made for Rogues and Ninja in Oriental Adventures).
They require a DC 20 alchemy check to craft though.

Cavaliere is meant for dual-purpose. He is an extremely good gunfighter and is a capable brawler who should be able to win conflicts non-lethally and knock out enemies before they can raise an alarm. He can also resolve missions peacefully through a combination of diplomacy and intimidation, though he is above all known to be good at fighting. All that is hard to fit into a single DnD 3.5e character which is why I'm left scratching my head.

I noticed the biggest major difference between 3.5e and d20 modern is the massive damage threshold.
In 3.5e, a Barbarian can take 40 points of damage to the chest, and ask for more.
In d20 modern, a character can get crit with a gunshot for 14 damage, and instantly die if they fail the save.
The massive damage thresholds are what separate high fantasy from military realism.
It's only fun with action points though, which are the default in d20 modern.

Pistols average 2d6-2d8 in d20 modern. Lowest ones are 2d4.
>I'm not sure how to remedy that.
There's a dragon magazine article that suggests just increasing the damage of firearms by one size category as a variant rule. 2d6 is a lot for a base weapon though.
I forget the issue. It's the same one with the Adamantine Dragon.
System shock thresholds are much lower: your massive damage threshold is equal to your constitution in d20 modern, so if you take a crit from that 2d6 weapon, you could die if you fail the save even if you have 100 HP.
That's probably where you want to spend your action points.
>His specialization is in his revolver (using D20 Modern stats) and his fists

The DM manual for 3.5e also proposes an alternative rule for instant kills where rolling a 20, then a 20 again, then scoring a hit, is an instant kill. I like the concept but on an extremely long campaign like this and in a setting with permadeath it's likely to end up being frustrating for an unlucky player. It's a 1 in 800 chance to instantly die from any hit. It's low compared to real life but in this game it might still be too risky.
>How much are you willing to invest in either fighting style?
Most of my feats are already dedicated to the gunslinger fighting style and I will probably put more towards that end since I want Cavaliere to be the very best in that role. Better unarmed combat is a good plus but if he can beat the average goon on his own then that's good enough.

One thing that people may not appreciate - with regard to GamerGate, Feminist Frequency, and all that shit - is that the left didn't 'infiltrate' games, comics, and so on; the left has always been a significant part of all those cultures. What has changed is the degree of radicalization, reflected in current products.

Left-wing thinking has been pervasive in counter culture and pop culture since the 19th century–it still clings on despite this all flipping. Old DnD wasn't too bad but it did have themes of "racism bad" and women being equal in all aspects. Now that it has become overtly political it is much, much worse.

I hope Elon is not just meming and will do it. Buying out Hasbro could save ponies too.

>that doesnt mean that it wasn't simmering below the surface.
Why is that relevant though?
3.5e was written two decades before GamerGate. Before Hasbro acquired WotC. Back when California was a red state. It wasn't an issue.
>y'all hear that Elon is talking about buying Hasbro/WotC?? Expressly to save DnD
That's a topic I will gladly discuss with you, but in another thread.

What source for ranged increments should we use? D20 Past has much smaller increments for cartridge weapons than D20 Modern, but there's little in the way of technological difference. It hasn't come up much until now because all fights have been at short range, but this mission is in an open area with 100' visibility.

I dont know GM's answer to that question, but a bit of theory:
Range increments don't relate to the actual range limit of a weapon, it is a reference of how increased range makes the shot more difficult (and why certain feats negate/increase range increments, alluding to technique and expertise)

DM doesn't seem to own very many d20 books, so probably default to whatever is most readily available in the SRD.
It's still a question worth considering though.

Range Increment is still an important factor to consider in 3.5e, as many feats, items, spells and class features only work within the first or second range increment of your weapon.

Correct. Rogues can't sneak attack beyond 30', and all thrown weapons are limited to 5 increments, and all mechanocal (incl sling) has a limit of 10

Hey, I finally found the Seduction Rules. I had a feeling it was based on Bluff, not Diplomacy.
It's in Sword & Fist of all places. I couldn't find it because they didn't put it in the Rules Compendium.

Posey is a seducer.

Meta: receiving a mysterious radio signal begging for help when we were already on our way to the light house feels like a classic hook in ttrpgs. Going to rescue them might be the more interesting route, with unforseen rewards.

The option is there, and a couple PCs would be better suited for investigating the Kostromo as they could maintain stealth better. Our stealth/fighting-based characters won't be much help for medical aid to survivors at the airship.

Splitting the party would divide GM's attention, and make things take more than twice as long in an already slow PbP game. It's not worth it.
Not to mention the encounters planned are probably meant to be a threat for the entire party, and we have at least three more party-level encounters for the XP budget of this day, so you can expect us to face difficult combat again one way or another.
