>>184297If there looks to be any gaslighting in a scene with Brie in it, just say so and we'll stop. Do you mean the joke about bad dice rolls is gaslighting? We can't read your mind.
>>184302>we cant read your mindThats a 2 way street buddy, and y'all come across really adversarial at times
>>184304Some of us get frustrated and that's natural in a tabletop game. I've been frustrated with you, I've been frustrated with Posey, and I've been frustrated with GM Pone. I used to be a lot more sardonic and cracked jokes at players' expense.
Most of us have autism which makes it hard to read others to begin with, and on top of that there is this text format which can be interpreted any number of ways. If you ever have concerns or complaints, just say so in plain language. Brooding and posting vague statements is helpful to nobody, including yourself.
>>184306I have been frustrating, and I will probably be frustrating. What I won't
submit to (deliberate and telling emphasis) is being labelled 'the problem'.
>>184308Again vagueness. Sigh. Its difficult to explain without explaining exhaustively, to the degree that no one cares anymore by the conclusion
>>184309And moreover, its impossible to explain withoit violating confidence, decency, and politemess
>>184308>>184309Who has labeled you 'the problem' and when? Please always be specific. We have all caused problems for GM Pone so I think it would be unfair to single you out.
>>184309>Its difficult to explain without explaining exhaustively, to the degree that no one cares anymore by the conclusionThe health of the game demands that we care. Let's sort this out right now.
>>184310>And moreover, its impossible to explain withoit violating confidence, decency, and politemessObviously, if it has to do with drama outside of the game, or with player privacy, then that can be left out and you can be vague. Just do the best you can. GM Pone has handled such matters with tact while getting the point across.
>>184311Have you ever played with people so long that it doesnt matter what handles, aliases, or characters they adopt, eventually you're like "Oh! Its been them all along!"? Keep that in the back of your head.
No one has expressly insinuated to label me 'the problem', thats a very hyperbolic and loaded term I used deliberately to force the topic.
What appears to have happened and be happening is - in being as non accusatory as possible - I don't appreciate nor feel it is necessary to play along with significant portions of content produced by other players and can be observed to react negatively/aggressively.
I am.prone to belligerent outbursts, and this is known even without lengthy gaming history, its been on full display.
But I dont go around looking to lose my shit, and most of the time I do I feel disgusted and exhausted afterward. Ill admit there are occasions where its life-justifying,....
The nature of anonboard posting is that we're shitposters so fuck (you). But that mentality - funny for anonposting - is toxic as shit for gaming. I guess the problem is I need a better sense of humor? If it can be said that the content is intended to amuse.
Put it this way. When a kid gets flicked, and wet willied, and badgered enough, in spite of the teacher's intentions/awareness, eventually somebody's nose gets broken, but who gets detention?
What I'm driving at is that in life, DnD/gaming, and a particularly noteworthy campaign, there often can be observed players who in the aftermath will admit to having been deliberately playing to upset/troll another player.
I'm so glad this isnt the case here.
>>184316>been deliberately playing to upset/troll another playerI was playing this game for more than a year before you reentered it, m8. It's not about you.
I am going to let GM Pone talk this one out. Is the noteworthy campaign either Mixed Nuts or Kaverns & Kobolds? Those are the only other ones on the board I know of and I also know nothing about them.
>>184318Idk what any of this has to do with either of those games, but I think GM and all the other players don't appreciate him bringing up unrelated games in conversation, especially when nobody else has done so. GM has said this before, and I agree with that sentiment.
>>184312>The nature of anonboard posting is that we're shitposters so fuck (you). But that mentality - funny for anonposting - is toxic as shit for gaming.Have you never played on /qst/? That's all it is, and it's still fun. Nobody takes anything personally.
>>184318>>184319I have expressly not named it. All that needs to be said is that going forward:
I am not going to to allow myself to be repeatedly pestered, bothered, or otherwise messed with, to the degree that I become hypersensitive and start misintepreting innocuous statements as hostile. Ive seen one player do it to another, and its not gonna happen here.
I never wanted to stop spot checking, I THOUGHT the sheep might be mission/context-important, moreso than spot checks. In the future, I will assume that no one is talking to Brie when the next demonic sheep gets loose.
>>184320And just cuz of an autistic fixation for detail:
Right BEFORE the sheep spoke old thestrali at Brie, GM DM'ed me to indicate that the following language was Welsh, intending it to be translated and implying that him freaking out was an intended outcome.
Don't bitch at me about "not doing spot checks, we got surprised cuz of you" when I'm responding to very specific context cues, seemingly custom-directed at my character, please. ^_^
>>184321Everyone else wanted to let the sheep go. You chose to fixate on it.
>>184322Because it made sense for him to in context. Maybe I'm overdoing it a bit, but this is very much an "Alice in Wonderland" (American McGee) sort of story/mission for Brie. Like, completely new to the supernatural. Oh, hes heard of it, and he knows magic is a thing, but most stories are just filly tales and the like. I am trying to affect his gradual realization of the wider world of sinister things.
I wouldnt have even responded to the SCENE if the GM didnt suggest it was something I should respond to
>>184319>>184320I will respect that.
>>184321>>184322>>184323It's just an autism moment. It's easy enough for people to say, "just get a better sense of humor" but if he is mentally unable to do that from factors outside his control then what is he to do? I'm not being condescending btw, I'm just listing the cause. Either we tone down the hijinks when Brie is around (sorry Posey) or we try to be better at giving context clues to indicate when we're serious or not. Even typing
this is a joke might help.
And yes, mundane characters being introduced to the supernatural is part of the Lovecraftian theme of this game. Hallucinating that a sheep is responding to your rape threat in Welsh is not part of that. It's a joke because Welsh people are stereotypical lovers of sheep in the same way that bronies are of horses.
>>184324See, Im only NOW getting the welsh sheep.rape joke,....
>>184325I thought the sheep told Brie something inconceivably random but undeniably perverse in a language only he was likely to recognize
It would be like if you were hanging with your friends and a duck walked up.
Quack, says the duck. But in your head you hear an old language you dont really know and havent heard since you were a child, talking about rape in some capacity
>>184327If you could talk to ducks at all they would likely be talking about that. Ducks are notorious rapists.
>>184328Fair.
I would be concerned in order:
1. Talking duck/voices in my head
A. What the fuck.did it just say???
B. I havent heard anyone speak (that language) since my ex's grandfather
2. No one else noticed
Also we probably killed that sheep by shearing it in the middle of winter.
>>184325Really? I got that at face value. It's literally the shagging-the-sheep idiom.
>>184324>It's a joke because Welsh people are stereotypical lovers of sheep in the same way that bronies are of horses. This, lol.
Also, considering how animals interact with ponies in the show, it makes sense for them to have some degree of cartoonish intelligence.
>>184330I was just thinking that too... I only sheared her because she looked neglected. I forgot it was winter.
We should take the sheep home with us. Gloomy would love her.
Let's have Kira roll to track her down once we're done with the mission.
>>184327I would go home and sleep it off.
>>184330In summary:
I now get why people were on about the sheep incident. I completely missed the context and thought it (the sheep its self) was more important to the scene. I also thought it was intended as an intro into how all 'this' is gonna cause Brie to have his moment of clarity, get his CM, and help kill the bad guy. That comes later, but its precipitated by Brie realizing that he is a small pony in a big world, since he has always seen himself as a big pony in a small world.
Appreciating all this context:
What appeared to be an antagonistic perception/demeanor toward my response to a seemingly intented element to the scene was in fact incomprehension as to why I was fixated on the shiny thing instead of watching out for nasty things.
I have decided to name the sheep Mary.
>>184333That's a pretty good way of describing the situation. It's alright though, now we can go find the Stalliongrader survivors!
I have also decided that I want to claim Mary as 2 gp of my share of the treasure.
Orcus spoke to Rosey Ring through her, and I have decided that she will play a pivotal role in Posey's ambitions, alive or dead.
>>184337If you still have it, I wouldnt even try and tally it. I assumed it ran off, but I would do the same with Rosie's background. If rope is required Brie would really like to not carry it anymore (10 lbs is alot for a sneaky/nimble)
TLDR, now hug it out. Maybe with bellyrubs
>>184324Just to redress this, don't feel you need to pull punches or tone things down on my behalf. This scenario has vee. A very interrsting clusterfuck of very plausible misinterpretation obscuring a much more nuanced situation than I appreciated. I'm sorry it happened, but it has illustrated some things to me about my behavior and why - even if the evidence SEEMS conclusive - I need to step away until I can articulate properly how the situation appears.
>>184354Does Silver need to give Mala bellyrubs?
So, wait, I'm confused. Is a magic rifle not the same as an enhanced rifle?
Strictly mechanically speaking?
>>184370Mala deserves them regardless
>>184374>>184375We haven't seen one in game yet, but mechanically speaking they should be two separate things. Magic rifles are also called "spell rifles" or "spark rifles".
>>184376 →>precision bonusPrevision bonus is already an established thing in 3.5e, and refers to the bonus damage from Sneak Attack, Skirmish or Sudden Strike.
>>184370Someone's jelly.
There's nothing wrong with a stallion giving his best friend some belly rubs.
Besides, it would be impolite to give Posey belly rubs. She's a lady. And potentially unfaithful to Silver's girlfriends.
>>184377Though, since we've found ammunition for one on one of these soldiers, odds are somewhere on that ship is a magic rifle that the ammunition goes to.
>>184378They would be very expensive. You would also probably need to find a proper fence for the weapon if you're looking to sell it as I imagine you couldn't just go into a gun store and sell a top-of-the-line experimental military-grade weapon like that.
>>184381>>184378Or free if you just take one
>>184380>Besides, it would be impolite to give Posey belly rubs. She's a lady.Ladies deserve belly rubs too.
>And potentially unfaithful to Silver's girlfriends.>girlfriends plural>unfaithfulPosey the Conqueress takes what she pleases.
>>184381>They would be very expensive.A +2 weapon costs as much as a mansion, and we have several.
>you couldn't just go into a gun store and sell a top-of-the-line experimental military-grade weapon like thatYou can sell +2 magic weapons fit for Exalted hero-kings, why wouldn't you be able to see other kinds of magic weapons?
So long as it's within the merchant wealth level of the settlement (a non-issue in a city as big as Baltimare), it should be sellable at 50% market price.
>>184380>jellyFrens or enemies; try to give belly itches, see how many times you get shot
>>184384It's less a matter about the amount of money the vendor would have to sell or how powerful the weapon is and more about the
legality of selling the weapon. Within the setting, it's clear that firearm ownership laws are not particularly friendly even with basic firearms like revolvers and bolt-action rifles, and I can't even imagine how restrictive they would be with something military-grade like a magic rifle.
>>184385>>184386Are you saying that the next time we encounter some possessed soldiers, we should try rubbing their bellies to see if that fixes them?
>>184387Suddenly finds themselves holding a chunk of tree trunk, with a grenade attached
Seriously. Dont do that. Am not for wuffle-play e_e
>>184388>It's less a matter about the amount of money the vendor would have to sell or how powerful the weapon is and more about the legality of selling the weapon. Within the setting, it's clear that firearm ownership laws are not particularly friendly even with basic firearms like revolvers and bolt-action rifles, and I can't even imagine how restrictive they would be with something military-grade like a magic rifle. Are we using d20 modern restriction access levels?
>>184389Run as you may. You will join the dead some day, and then we will be best friends.
>>184392Im seriously getting close to getting nasty. Stop testing my limits
>>184385Sounds to me like somepony isn't getting any belly rubs
>>184389Or wuffles
>>184392I haven't heard of any formal rules like that being implemented, but getting access to anything more powerful than basic firearms would probably require meeting with a black market arms dealer, smuggler, or someone else like that. Or having a good reputation with one of the factions who could give you access to that stuff, like the Waterfront Gang or the Black Hooves.
>>184395Why are you so contemptible?
>>184397Ah, we're just messing about, being silly and having fun. Nothing to worry about, fren.
Also, found an image for Dark Star, though I think he may already have this one saved.
>>184396>I haven't heard of any formal rules like that being implemented, but getting access to anything more powerful than basic firearms would probably require meeting with a black market arms dealer, smuggler, or someone else like that.I guess I really am going to have to make that smuggler cohort with Wanderers Diplomacy and Mercantile Background.
>>184397Why are you such a huffy fluffy wufflekins?
>>184399That does sound pretty convenient. That way Posey could have access to both all of the body parts and all of the military-grade equipment she could ever need. Maybe Posey can make herself an undead army equipped with machine guns and bazookas.
>>184405>picDamn, where's Dust when you need him?
Did Posey ever find the bone pit? >>184408I'm going to assume that's a "no" since you/Posey would
definitely remember finding it, but yes there has been a bone pit encountered previously in the game, filled nearly to the brim with the bones and skeletons of dozens of creatures, possibly even hundreds. It might still be around, assuming it hasn't been cleaned up by the authorities.
>>184410Hundreds of skeletons?
Okay, now I gotta definitely need to buy that property.
>>184411Now I'm not saying where, as I imagine it would be a fitting reward for a vigorous search. It could be at the Catacombs. It could be somewhere else in the city. It might be somewhere you've already visited or could be somewhere you haven't yet thought of. But, Posey might like to find it, as she seems to be rather obsessed with bones.
>>184415I feel like I would have noticed a giant pit full of bones. It's exactly what I want.
>>184416To be fair, everyone in this game has a bad habit of missing out on valuable loot and going after stuff that was never originally intended as loot. Like, there's a Belt of Strength that Silver missed out on, and instead he got the papers that turned into the house he's currently living in with his NPC household.
>>184417>To be fair, everyone in this game has a bad habit of missing out on valuable loot and going after stuff that was never originally intended as loot.I really hate it when this happens. I've played and run so many games where this happened...
>there's a Belt of Strength that Silver missed out onThen how does he know about it?
>>184418I may or may not be given insider information about stuff like this at times.
>>184419It's kind of worse being told you missed out on stuff, without a chance to go get it.
>>184420I also may or may not have managed to come up with a plausible reason to go back looking for it, because stronk Silver
>>184421I need a stylish vampire cape of charisma.
>>184422You will earn so many kudos if you also say "I vant to suck your blood" while wearing it.
>>184423On a healthy pony board, all negativity is reciprocated with cute pony pics.
>>184424Wondering how cheesy it would be if I started typing Ws as Vs to demonstrate Posey's accent....?
>>184425I think it would be pretty cool. I already do something like that with Silver where I try to avoid using articles (a, an, the) in his speech whenever I can. Sometimes one slips by, but I succeed more of the time. It's also a bit like how Dust is committed to rhyming 100% of the time.
>>184433D'awwwwwwww. Sometimes when I see an image, I'll end up on a completely unrelated train of thought from anything that came before. Like, looking at that image, I saw it as being like Posey hugging Brie but if their sexes were reversed. And that caused me to go onto the new train of thought: how much different would Posey as a character be if she were a stallion? Not different at all? Sorta different? Entirely different?
>>184434Her background would be completely different if she were a stallion. Posey was a sex slave to vampires as a filly, and that affected her outlook on life.
Not to mention that using her charms has been a survival method for her in the past, and she might've not gotten this far if not for that.
>>184436You know, with all of the messed up stuff Posey had to go through growing up, I'm curious if part of the reason Posey brought Gloomy along for her super secret spy mission is because she doesn't want him to have to go through all that she had to.
>>184437Gloomy has endured a torturous existence himself, being a subject of experimentation, but not so abusive much as Posey. He also wasn't bred from vampire stock like her.
Posey brought him along because he is the only thing in the world that she actually owns. He was the most expensive thing in her starting equipment (commoner slave 100 gp).
>>184374>>184377The griffon commando who was training the communists in the first group quest had a magic rifle iirc. It wasn't used or taken.
>A +2 weapon costs as much as a mansion, and we have several.>You can sell +2 magic weapons fit for Exalted hero-kings, why wouldn't you be able to see other kinds of magic weapons?>So long as it's within the merchant wealth level of the settlement (a non-issue in a city as big as Baltimare), it should be sellable at 50% market price. It's a setting where housing is scarce and guns are plentiful. DnD cost tables aren't reliable because they are for a pre-industrial civilization. Gun control does drive up black market prices.
>>184392>Are we using d20 modern restriction access levels?I think it's a good system and it works not just for guns but also chemicals, drugs, and magical components.
>>184404>tfw the dock raid quest happens again but instead of communists it's Posey and undead>>184440>Lighten up.The 'tism keeps him from it. Even if it's silly, for his sake it would be best to stop the teasing.
>>184440I'd like to see some heartwarming/sad scenes of Posey and Gloomy together as mother and son. I'm not sure if it's your intent with these characters, but I could see it being used as a way to build up empathy for your characters in the eyes of the people both playing and watching the game.
>>184442Damn, more loot that we left behind. Also that sounds like a cool idea for a quest.
>>184442>DnD cost tables aren't reliable because they are for a pre-industrial civilization. Gun control does drive up black market prices. The cost tables are from Cityscape, and they were in post-industrial magic-tech Eberron. As far as character WBL is concerned, they should be good enough. Magic item components are ambiguous, but what defines them is WBL balance.
>I think it's a good system and it works not just for guns but also chemicals, drugs, and magical components.Depends if the GM wants to implement it. I think I would prefer just being able to buy/sell most things.
>>tfw the dock raid quest happens again but instead of communists it's Posey and undeadThat's what I want, but I need to get to lvl 8 to cast Animate Dead.
>>184446>I'd like to see some heartwarming/sad scenes of Posey and Gloomy together as mother and son. I'm not sure if it's your intent with these characters, but I could see it being used as a way to build up empathy for your characters in the eyes of the people both playing and watching the game. That's what I want, but it's tricky to type out in a context that makes sense.
>>184451Well, I don't know Gloomy as well as you do, obviously, but even if he's endured a torturous existence, he's still a young colt, and likely to encounter situations in Equestria among the living that will make him act a bit like, well, a colt. It could be that when they're out and about Gloomy will see various families out and see how the young colts interact with their mothers in a normal fashion, and might try to copy them with his own interactions with his mother.
>>184443 →At this rate, the game will turn from a 3.5e system with a heavy amount of homebrew into a custom system with 3.5e inspiration. GM Pone's complaint about the leveling and powerscaling system makes it necessary.
>>184451>Magic item components are ambiguous, but what defines them is WBL balance.True. My thought process is that at higher levels enemies will more often be elite troops with magic weapons. These will need to be a plausible threat.
>Depends if the GM wants to implement it. I think I would prefer just being able to buy/sell most things.Silver and Blue Skies got high off confiscated changeling honey, which is implied to be extremely illegal (level 4). Even hard drugs like methamphetamine would be only level 3 (military) because of their usage. The restriction access level system is handy to show what needs more money or better connections to obtain.
>>184455This would be cute.
Posey is a conqueress bent on conquest with a touch spell (boop) specialization build.
All your snoot are belong to us.
I could unironically see being in the land of Friendship and Harmony having a positive impact on Posey and Gloomy's life, especially if through the party's efforts they manage to help Harmony make a return.
>>184466Yes, but I would still like to get to lvl 8 and do actual necromancy first.
>>184469A player fixation on (lets be honest) arbitrary accollades is kinda bent
>>184470>arbitrary accolladesA Fighter wants to fight, A Rogue wants to steal, a Ranger wants to Track, a Necromancer wants to Animate Dead.
