Hello /mlpol/. So, I actually knew about this site since 2018 when I was active on 8ch /pol/ board. But recently I tried to see what mlp was about and actually watch a couple of seasons. Well, after a dozen episodes or so episodes I have to write my opinion on it. Usually you can divide cartoons into 2 categories. The first is realistic and by that I mean cartoons that don't have characters go out of character to teach a lesson to the audience. These cartoons can be serious like Samurai Jack or silly and even stupid like Regular Show. But they always stay in character. The second type of cartoons are the cartoons that parents let their 3yo watch on YouTube while they are busy. These cartoons have poorly developed characters and fall out of character when the narrator thinks it's a good time to slip some kind of "lesson" without actually having the patience to develop the characters and create a plot. And mlp is somewhat in the middle of that. It develops it's characters but then let's them go completely out of character and creates unrealistic situations.
Episode 1: This episode is actually good. I like how the characters are introduced. Still, they managed to exaggerade situations to force things to happen. For example when Twillight meets Aplle Jack and she offers her apple dishes, and instead of creating 5-10 seconds of dialog(where they could have easily come up something funny or witty) they settle for a measily gag with a crowd of ponies that suddenly all stared at her and pressured her to accept the offer. Then there's Nightmare Moon who is supposed to redeem herself but they exaggerate her as unnecesary evil just to keep the audience entertained(even though that's not what she realy is).
Episode 2: At the start of the episode all of the "main" ponies conveniently gather at Twillights house to question her about how she knew about Nightmare Moon. Then she reads them the prophecy and at this point the observant viewer already knows that they are elements of harmony. The narrators could have made this such an interesting arc how Twillight tries to find the elements of harmony to defeat Nightmare Moon as she befriends and has to accept help from each of the ponies to get one of the element. For example 1 element could be in the sky so Twillight had to get Rainbow Dash to help and retrieve it. The other element could be in the Earth so she gets help from Apple Jack and so on. But they choose the lame approach because they could't be bothered with a good narration.
Episode 3 - The Ticket Master: This episode is the first time where one of the main ponies breaks their character for a poorly narrated trope. In short, Twillight gets 2 tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala(for her and Spike). Spike doesn't want to go, so naturally every pony wants the other ticket. So Twillight, instead of just randomly picking 1 of the ponies to give the ticket to(or just plainly asking Celestia for more tickets) has to decide who's reason to go is "more important". But that isn't really the main issue, it still fits her character to do so. What comes next is everypony tries to appease Twillight to give her the ticket and although you can do it with most of the ponies, one of them is a no no. That one pony is Fluffershy. After she goes into her house and sees Fluffershy and her animals clean it she says the worlds "Fluffershy, not you too." and that was my exact reaction. Fluffershy was the best character to help Twillight with her problem since her character trait is kindness, not selfishness(even though she also would have liked to go) but yet again the narrators couldn't be bothered to narrate a good plot. Yada yada all of the ponies realize their mistake and then Celestia sends them more tickets.
Episode 4 - Applebuck Season: This episode is about Applejack learning to accept help. It's Apple harvesting season and Applejack has to harvest a large orchard. At the same time she save Ponyville from getting trampled by a herd of frightened cows and Twillight and Pinkie organize a celebration where each of the main ponies speak about Applejack infront of a large crowd where yet again Fluffershy breaks her character since we have established in episode 1 that she is incerdibly shy around ponies she doesn't know. So Apple Jack get's overwhelmed and in the end accept the help of her friends. This episode was ok but again, lazy narrating.
Episode 5 - Griffon the Brush off: I don't have anything particularly interesting to say about this episode. I liked how Pinkie and Rainbowdash connected over their love of pranks. It's an ok episode with an overused bullying stereotype.
Episode 6 - Boast Busters: A wizard pony moves to ponyville and claims to be the most powerful pony in Equestria. Everypony except the main six are convinced. In this episode the narrators break Twillights character for the sake of their lazy plot by overexaggerating her fear of being seen as a showoff. Considering she is the one pony that values reason, she should be the pony least likely to fall victim to her emotions and fears. Yet they went with it anyway.

Episode 7 - Dragonfly: In this episode Fluffershy is supposed to help Twillight get rid of a dragon that is sleeping in a cave on a nearby mountain and engulfing the whole of ponyville in smoke. Ironically nobody really cares about Fluffershy or asks for her opinion until they arrive at the cave even though she is supposed to be their main dragon handler. I don't understand what goes through the narrators head. It seems that sometimes they want the show to appear silly but at the same time serious. And believe me there can be silly situations in a serious show(shows like Samurai Jack have quite a few of them) but you have to execute them well and have your characters stay in character because otherwise it just comes off bad. In the end Fluffershy convinces the dragon to leave, again in a very silly way that just doesn't fit to the overall seriousness of the matter and the fact that he is a giant fucking dragon that is thousands of years old.
Episode 8 - Look before you sleep: This episode was actually very good. I enjoyed how they focused on the interactions between Rarity and Applejack to let the viewers know them better and their reconciliation felt genuine. What this episode shows however is that you don't need to exaggerate or to make up some crazy plot or situations to make an interesting story.
Episode 9 - Bridle Gossip: Divercity trope. Not even going to bother.
Episode 10 - Swarm of the century: This is another good episode in Pinkie fashion. There are quite a few references here to other tales like Pan Piper. This episode is also the exact opposite of episode 8 with lots of randomness and a crazy plot. There were no character breaks, it was serious yet when there were any silly moments it was fitting(like when Pinky marched a parade at the end of the episode). I have to give credit to the narrators, they actually tried to make a good story here and it shows.

#1: Lauren Faust wrote an eight season backstory to ML:FiM intended to be 24-26 minute episodes, though "certain executives" told her to rewrite them all. She refused... until season 4, which will be explained later.
#2: small chunks from each were removed during "executive appeal" to 'fit' a 20 minute running schedule allowing for EXTENDED ads.
#3: throughout the first three seasons numerous "executive appeals" were made, significantly altering the intended message or messages. As you can tell, that greatly displeased people whom enjoyed the series.
#4: before any of the third season's audio recordings were made, Lauren was abruptly (((introduced))) to a certain kike-loving bitch. Of course, her entire plan for the series was shit on. This leads to:
#5: Lauren was then told that she was "being replaced by someone that (((knows))) the target audience better". That is why you will see a vastly increasing disconnect between viewer enjoymarent and the craptastic nu-soycialism garbage from S4 until the end of G4.
#6: said (((someone))) threw out 90% of Lauren's scripts, rewriting nearly everything with pro-marxist Disney Fairytale Princess dogshit. Of course, this was BEFORE Lauren left rather than being fired.
#7: when Lauren left she took her original copy, which may have been leaked on purpose to various horsefuckers across the web.
#8: FUCK hasjew for keeping that cucked bitch on for "G5".

First off, this example is a bit of minor thing, even if we were to agree on your analysis on the scene, so it doesn't really support your conclusion that well.
Second off, this gag is pretty funny and heartwarming. I remember liking it.

While I agree with some of your points in these posts, I think, while not wrong, turn a bit nitpicky. Sure the devil is in the details but I guess, my problem with this is that you compare Samurai Jack favourably to mlp. You argue that that show is superior when it comes to character consistency. I feel that it's not the best comparison because the two shows are so different. I would argue that having a stoic samurai warrior character in an series mainly focused on action will have put less pressure on the writers to create a story out of character interactions since there isn't much of it in the first place. An episode of SJ is more about fighting I actually like many of SJ's fights. than it's about a solving a friendship problem between a few characters. There are less moments in your story where you need to think about character consitency and character reaction.
An example, or perhaps a nitpick, of SJ's character inconsistency, or maybe not after all I don't know SJ that much, but the scene that lead up to SJ getting his name in the series is a bit bizare.
He uses his atrobatics to avoid somesort of plow and ends up landing in front of a gang of futuristic niggers. They are impressed by his skill and start calling him Jack as they recap what he just did. Later, he is talking to a trio of dogs and they asks him his name. Then instead of tell them and us the audience, his real name, he says that his name is Jack, which for all he knew could have been the future's slang for nigguha. I suppose that he didn't want to give his real name as a way to avoid being detected by Aku but then again we don't know his name and we don't know if Aku has his name either. Maybe it would have made more sense for him to take another ancient japanese name? Maybe because he was put on the spot, he just blurted the first thing that came to mind.

Thank you for the explanation. It is true I do not know much about the background of MLP itself. The things that I did come about were mainly from the MLP fandom. Like the blogposts of Buttercup Dew, a fag from Britain who wrote an extensive analysis on MLP and it's relation to real world events in his blog (he is now writing articles for Counter-Currents). Or the drama with Aryanne and National Socialist symbology on Derpibooru.

I believe the biggest difference between Samurai Jack and MLP(keep in mind I only watched the first 10 episodes, so I'm not necessarily judging the whole show) is the storytelling. Samurai Jack is more of a collection of stories that are mostly unrelated to each other, so Jack never actually builds long term relationships with the people and creatures he encounters(the original 4 seasons) and therefore the narrators only have 1 consistent character to focus around and have to therefore build a extensive plot for each episode since otherwise he would have nothing to interact with. MLP on the other hand has a steady plot progression with a set of characters. There are alot more options for character interactions ad character building. So in essence SJ is more dependant on the plot and MLP is more dependant on character bulding.
