This RPG is set in the land of Equestria after it has been conquered and split between the Changelings and a foriegn fascist nation. It is based in large part on the Equestria at War mod for Hearts of Iron 4, and uses D&D 3.5 mechanics
4 of the group have taken a job to clear a site of a future real estate development of undead. They seem to have stumbled upon a centuries old evil long forgotten by Equestria. Meanwhile, Ash has discovered foals from the order of Saint Prancis orphanage practicing dark magic and sacrifices in the woods, while Iron is having not-so-pleasant dreams

Blue Skies, who had been happy to look down the sights of a loaded handgun aimed at a wall, recognizes Silver staring at her and gains finally gains some awareness of her situation. She quickly becomes embarrassed at the obvious impropriety of messing around with guns in a public establishment that has ponies in it and where firearms are almost certainly banned. Traits aren't that attractive to me, tbh. The benefits are insignificant, and the trade-offs are just one more thing to worry about. I guess they could be good for niche characters though.

No, it precisely for min-maxing.
They're okay if you want to make a niche character with a very particular skill set or playstyle, especially if you're playing a race that's less than suited for your character's class.
I just don't find very many of them to be worth the loss of versitality, but I could see how they'd be helpful for certain characters though.

If I were to choose acouple for my character, I'd choose Honest, Polite, or Distinctive. Those would good traits for a good-aligned religious character (especially a Lawful Good Paladin, who never ).
Cautious is a good trait to have for defensive/support Casters with good Will saves, since the Cleric should always be the last to die, and an arcane caster being a bitch who always runs at the sight of danger is kind of a given.
Uncivilized may as well be a class feature for Barbarians, because if you're not RPing with that trait in mind, you're not playing a very genuine Barbarian.

That class was actually intended for creatures who started with 1 level in Barbarian (a 9 int Barbarian has 12 skillpoints to distribute at level 1).
It was just a suggestion, for a prestige class that increases unarmed damage.
There's also a good feat from the Tome of Battle you might like:
