This RPG is set in the land of Equestria after it has been conquered and split between the Changelings and a foriegn fascist nation. It is based in large part on the Equestria at War mod for Hearts of Iron 4, and uses D&D 3.5 mechanics
4 of the group have taken a job to clear a site of a future real estate development of undead. They seem to have stumbled upon a centuries old evil long forgotten by Equestria. Meanwhile, Ash has discovered foals from the order of Saint Prancis orphanage practicing dark magic and sacrifices in the woods, while Iron is having not-so-pleasant dreams

>>77873Unless you would be willing to put a wooden holy symbol in the place of the single, non-masterwork weapon an ascetic would carry(usually a staff, club or sling since they cost 0 gp), but Clerics are really much better off just wearing full magical armor and weilding weapons they themselves crafted, they're the only class that can Sanctify Relics afterall.
Sister Ash carries a broom (Quarterstaff), because it makes her look good. At the warehouse, she brought a homemade shield.
Ascetiscism feature was mostly meant to apply to Druids and Monks. Druids are able to cast without holy Symbols, but they'd still have to pay experience points in the place of costly spell components, or otherwise beg for the materials if they needed to cast a costly spell (bringing people back from the dead is expensive). Being an Ascetic druid just feels holier though, because you're in essence trying to live as 'naturally' as possible. Monks use weapons and armor anyway, so the Vow actually helps them break their ironic dependency on wonderous-item equiptment; and being a self-punishing Ascetic is pretty Buddha-tier, even if you have to miss out on all of cool loot rolls. It could also them get spells by taking the Apostle of Peace PrC, which is easier for them since Vow of Nonviolence is easier to follow when your primary form of attack does nonlethal damage.
However, being an ascetic also makes you somewhat more dependant on your party members for things that can be more easily accessed via items, like planar travel, ability buffs in combat, healing, penetrating specific damage reduction or resisting harmful status ailments and death effects. It's good for a support-based character though.
>>77884I'll keep it in mind for the next dungeon.
>>77885Always remember to respect the dungeon.
>>77886Kinda did the opposite of that when we went to the hideout, actually.
>>77884Unfortunately, because Silver doesn't have any skill points, and because he has a -1 Int modifier, he is unable to check for secret doors or traps at all, so he can't respect the dungeon.
>>77888You can punch walls to open the paths yourself.
>>77887>>77887How so?
>>77888If you don't have a Rogue, send in the guy with the most hit Points to walk through all if the traps.
Barbarians especially are great at it.
>>77889Also this.
Carry an Adamantine hammer, just for that.
>>77890Well, we kinda went in blind without any info apart that it was a gang hideout. Isn't that the opposite of the first panel of the comic?
>>77888TBH, I'm not a big fan of the RPG mechanic where Intelligence or some other equivalent is the universal determinant for how many skill points you have. It always makes that one ability infinitely more valuable than any other ability, even if it's not essential to your class.>>77890Seems more like good way to waste potions, time, and/or get yourself killed.
>>77891Unfortunately, Silver is kinda broke, and the party already got their big payout from the job at the pier, so I doubt he'll ever end up with enough money to buy anything like that.
>>77893Cheer up. The GM will ensure that there's good pay at the end of a valiant quest to obtain loot.
>>77894Are you sure? It was a LOT of money you guys got at the end of that one mission, and that's only because you all decided to board and loot the boat that was at the docks.
>>77895Heck, there may be 20 gold pieces or 5 artifacts that are double the value of all 10 gold bricks.
>>77896I highly doubt that, but whatever.
>>77892The most preparation I could muster was summoning a dog and bringing a tower shield, which turned out to be very helpful.
I considered taking a day or two to try to gather info, but then I figured that sister Ash would be in a hurry, since she didn't know what was happening to the children as she waited. In the end, she wasn't able to save half of them (yet).
>>77893>>77895You'll get more shekels later. That's the best part of the dungeon crawl
(unless you're an Ascetic and can't use items).I'm sure you'll get plenty of chances to equipt your character.
>>77896Artifacts are a bigger deal than you'd think.
Magick items though.
>>77875So very male
>>77880This
>>77881But sleeping on the ground in an area he knows very large packs of very large wolves is great
>>77883Giggity
>>77887All of the thises
>>77888>>77893I very explicitly told you that investing one of your superfluous awesome stats that you didn't need for anything practical would be best spent in Intelligence. But noooo, you wanted to make Int the dump stat, and place the fourth awesome stat in wisdom or charisma or some other ability that isn't very useful to fighters
>>77898Either way, Silver is a few steps behind everyone in terms of equipment already. The best he has is a basic steel greatsword and a normal "breastplate".
>>77896Plus we
did kinda piss off the GM by leaving the tunnels prematurely, so I don't expect many favors in terms of rewards from him for a while.
>>77899Well, he wasn't raped when he slept on the outskirts. Besides, what rapist goes to an all female abbey filled with foals and fucks the one stallion that was staying there for the night?
>>77899>I very explicitly told you that investing one of your superfluous awesome stats that you didn't need for anything practical would be best spent in Intelligence. But noooo, you wanted to make Int the dump stat, and place the fourth awesome stat in wisdom or charisma or some other ability that isn't very useful to fightersI didn't know, I'm new to the game. At the same time, there were other players telling me that what I had was fine, so I didn't think much of it.
>>77899Wolves are our friends though.
>*Gets eaten*>>77900Oh, don't be a worrywort. Loot rolls and treasure finds are a normal part of the game. You'll get stuff.
>>77903>rollsSilver is doomed to forever be poor, then.
>>77901It might have been a nightmare
(or a literal nightmare/nighthag), which would explain why he was paralyzed during most of the ordeal.
>>77905True. It's the antithesis of Ash. An evil druid.
>>77901really activates those oats
>>77904Rolls are the best part. That's the cool stuff you get in addition to standard treasure.
Or, you could go ahead and donate all of your worldly possessions and take on a life of service to the poor
>>77908>Rolls are the best partIf I had a measure of luck, sure.
>>77901While I hate to give any kind of spoilers, I will say this: I had three entirely different and plausible scenarios for roughly the same event when I rolled for the path
>>77906>Evil druid>Giving you nightmaresKek, I could envision it.
>>77912After all, with Princess Luna incapacitated, who knows what kind of rat bastards could be screwing with everyone's dreams.
>>77911I'll hazard a guess that it was planned either by Skies (Most likely to do this, since I dissed hard on her non-existent tribe), Cauldron. (Less likely since she already had her fill of revenge) and a changeling conspiracy on the Abbey. (Which admittedly is kinda cool) Other options are what Ash's player said and it was all a dream type of deal.
>>77909You could always swear off wealth and become a hermit, if you want.
>>77914>Non-existent tribeAs compared to Iron's unnamed and entirely existing tribe?
>>77915I mean, would Silver do it? Probably not. He's old, but he still does like money. It helps him buy things.
Hey, have the timelines mostly synched up yet?
I've got a couple hours before I get dragged off to a cocktail party..
>>77916Well, you explicitly said her tribe was wiped out by griffons. Your words, not mine.
>>77915I think he would not be able to come back to his tribe. However, it's tempting.
>>77919Uprooted by social progressives
>>77918No. At minimum we need Dark Star to do.... something. Because he needs a witch doctor and has a date
>>77921Still, pretty sure she doesn't feel like her tribe exists by how far it may have changed by the uprooting.
>>77921I don't suppose there would be the location of a witch doctor on Silver's map.
