>>183488Mala looks up at Silver demandingly. For all Silver has given him, it is not enough. Pets are not enough. He wants more. He wants a hug. But in fairness, Mala is more than willing to give one back.
>>183498oh no
>>183490I still have my Monkey's paw
>>183504While I'll leave most of the guess work to Posey, Brie discerns two things quickly
The Monster enocuntered by the griffins was of a qualitatively different nature than what attacked them just now. The most recent set more closely mimicked chitin, fur, and in general, recognizable biology than the vaguely dog-like creature did, even if the latter came closer to resembling a known taxonomy than the former.
And second, this was absolutely
not disclosed in the briefing.
>>183505So The island has a vaguely anvil shape. The southwest end and the northwest end both have hills. The party went along the western coast, and to a low point between these two hills where the whaling station was. East and a little north east from there is a narrower part of the island between two bays, like two inverted horseshoes. This is another hill, which the part is going to go climb up to lead to the old village.
The whole area is essentially deserted pastures and fields on rolling hills. Ruined stone walls that demarcated padlocks are still seen.
>>183507Mala:
"Oh, they have throats to bite and rip out."
>>183509I hope When everyone is ready to play, Kira will give everyone the signal that she sees something. But first:
>>183511Silver gladly gives Mala a big, floofy hug. There's no hesitation, no question as to whether he should or not. He just goes in and gives his friend a hug he very well deserves.
>>183511>The Monster enocuntered by the griffins was of a qualitatively different nature than what attacked them just now. >And second, this was absolutely not disclosed in the briefing.I'm going to have to make some charisma checks to leverage an additional bonus payment for this. Captain said monster activity would be scarce.... Momma wants a new cape of Charisma.
Also, did the monsters leave anything behind after they left? Body parts? Treasure?
Any alien gems, lovecraftian-god idol sculptures made of precious unknown materials, living-flesh magic items, talismans of unspeakable power, weapons made of the horns and teeth of monsters, or scrolls of aberrant spells?
Posey searches the ground for any loot for this encounter.
[1d20+5 = (15+5) = 20]I'm just gonna leave this useful Magic Item Compendium based random treasure generator here:

Is Skull & Crossbones island close to here?
>>183512>monster approaching>hugs come firstBased
Posey joins the group hug, sucking a bit of warmth out of it, but still soft nonetheless.
>>183514Don't forget, assuming the Traveler leaves behind a physical body when killed, we can at least take a trophy with us from the body as proof of its existence. I'm certain ending a potentially world-ending threat from another dimension is worth a few extra thousand Bits at least.
Brie may yet avoid prison for this mission
>>183515Plus I could preserve it to later reanimate it as a Cthulhu-Zombie to end the world myself :D
>>183512>>183514Mala is massive, about on par in terms of mass with Silver and bigger than Posey. He is simultaneously very fluffy with thick fur, fat, and muscular. He wraps his hooves around Silver in his own hug, but then tries to place a leg around Posey when she comes up.
He smiles, and places his chin over Silver. His tail wags.
>>183502Dust can hear something moving ahead
>>183512Kira definitely sees something moving towards them

>unapologetically fantasy map>I didn't just blatantly copy a real life location in hopes of shortcutting a map and then fail at thatSure. Completely original, dark fantasy map
>Can we identify themThey are slightly changed published monstersPosey can instantly tell that while they have some vague resemblance to things she's heard of, something is different about them. Specifically, they shouldn't be materializing and then dematerializing.
>>183516Based?
>>183518>cameraOooh, Dead Rising shit. That would probably fall to Brie, since he can get better vantage shots
>>183518>Mala is massive, about on par in terms of mass with Silver and bigger than Posey. He is simultaneously very fluffy with thick fur, fat, and muscular.I am choosing to believe that Mala is actually a young Flind Gnoll. It would explain why he's fatter and more charismatic than most
>Specifically, they shouldn't be materializing and then dematerializingPosey suspects that they might might be summons conjured remotely by a caster. Rolling to confirm this:
[1d20+11 = (5+11) = 16]>blatantly copy a real life location in hopes of shortcutting a map and then fail at thatAll GMs do this. Literally all of them.
>>183518>>183520>>183517>>183510>>183502Kira whispers back to the group,
"Hey, guys! Something's coming," while pointing in the direction of the approaching figure. Silver's ears perk up at hearing Kira speak, and looks up from the comfy floofy Mala hug towards what Kira has seen.
>>183522If having the time, Brie would assume a flanking position (ground level) to Kira's left
>>183522Posey readies herself for battle.
She gives her bone bow to one of her dreads in exchange for the halberd, which she readies against a charge.
The Dread draws back the bowstring and trains an arrow on the incoming creature, readying and attack.
Her other Dread brandishes its sword, ready to charge itself.
The figure, smaller than a pony but of an odd shape, moves out through the shadow, a bit left of the old wall.
"Baa"
>>183521They seemed a bit off for summoned creatures
>>183526Knowledge, Nature: Kira blinks. Is this just a sheep or a goat or something?
[1d20+3 = (11+3) = 14] I guess we're just waiting for Cavalier?
>>183526>sheep/goatAn emissary of Orcus? Is the bloated goatlord giving me a sign that I must purge these aberrant xeno filth in the name of superior demonic Undeath?
Religion
[1d20+11 = (13+11) = 24]As the figure gallops through the mist, it becomes more visible. It's covered in a thick, matted fur that's tinted yellow, and dirty, with small amounts of debris caught in it. Kira can see that it is a sheep, a domestic variety of one, and an ewe.
It gives Kira and also Brie a wide berth, going around Kira to the right, but it doesn't slow down, and it doesn't seem bothered by the party. It moves around with a "Baa"
>>183529Yes. Yes he is.
>>183530Kira: "Awwwww. Poor sheepy. She has no one left to help take care of her!"
>>183532Brie waves at Mala, to get his attention, and then nods toward the sheep, following the gesture with a shrug
>>183497Just checking. Are we talking about the same pony? I thought Flowercup was white because it's she that Vir reaches out for.
>>183530Posey approaches to pet the sheep.
She whispers a faint hymn in Abyssal
"שלום רב, בת הכבש. באת להעביר הודעה מהנפוח?" >>183536Fuck, it didn't paste properly. This is the actual message:
"Greetings, daughter of the lamb. Have you come to deliver a message from the bloated one? I wish my little lamb Gloomy were here to meet you."
The ewe moves around the ponies, and turns around briefly to look back at the party, then starts to proceed the way it was going at a slower speed. Mala leaves the cuddle pile to follow the sheep, clearly curious about it.
>>183534I thought she was trying to pet Heather.
Flower cup looks up towards the big mare, with ears standing up and cupped.
"Uh, may you what?"
>>183536>>183537Roll to pet the sheep>>183538That would mean it's an unholy message from the gnoll-lord.
>>183539Rolling Charisma (animal handling) to pet the sheep
Applying +2 circumstances bonus, for having successfully identified it.
Posey's Bestial corruption symptom cancels out the penalty from her Unnatural Aura.
[1d20+8 = (17+8) = 25] >>183540The ewe turns to look back at Posey, and then up to her.
Posey successfully puts its thick fur. It has the feel of wool, although matted, thicker, and with flakes of dirt.
"Baa" It says to her
אם לא הבנת את זה, כן. הדבר הזה מנוגד לאינטרסים שלנו, וצריך לעצור אותו. Mala approaches
>>183532Posey produces a set of shears, the one she uses to trim Gloomy
"As a mare who believes in Fate, I have foretold that great fortune will come upon us if we take the time to shear this sheep."
>>183542Posey puts a hoof up
"If you eat
this sheep, you will die a horrible death."
Intimidate
[1d20+17 = (18+17) = 35] >>183544Brie shrugs, ending the gesture by holding one hoof out in Posey's direction, implying general assent/agreement
>>183544Kira looks happy that Posey is going to help the poor thing out, as she smiles warmly at the two.
>>183542Posey does not stop Mala from eating the sheep if he intends to do so anyway. She just informs him that eating the sheep will cause him to die a horrible death.
Or maybe it will just turn him into a monster. Who knows?
Mala looks up towards Posey, ears upwards, then has a look of fear in his eyes. He turns and quickly scurries away, whimpering and with his tail between his legs. He hides behind Silver
The Sheep however, is also afraid of Posey, and starts to run away
>>183547I cant say what I worry might happen o_o
>>183548>runsOh no you don't. I want my unholy fleece.
>>183546"Kira, hold her still so I can shear her."
>>183548>>183551Silver Mala some reassuring pets, as Kira comes over and makes to hold the sheepy in place.
First, touch attack:
[1d20+9 = (1+9) = 10]Second, grapple:
[1d20+13 = (4+13) = 17] >>183552Kira lunges at the sheep...
She seems to have miscalculated. She misses outright.
Mala is pet and somewhat reassured.
When you Intimidate a target, that target's attitude shifts to "unfriendly" towards you after you leave its presence, as the skill check should work. It seems so much less useful than diplomacy>>183554It jumps and dodges out of the way of Posey with a "Baa"
>>183556>It seems so much less useful than diplomacyDemoralizing is good in combat.
They also added the duel of wills mechanic in the ToB, which lets you get a bonus on attacks when you use it in initiative.
But as a social skill it is the worst.
I still max it out, because Posey is supposed to be a scary conqueress.
It was just a shitpost roll anyway.
Posey pursue's the sheep
Grapple
[1d20+5 = (5+5) = 10] >>183539Okay, nice.
She keeps her hoof there as her smile spreads in her nervousness.
"May I touch you?" she says. "You're so cute."
>>183556Brie will sigh and charge (action)after the sheep, as he do
[1d20+9 = (15+9) = 24] touch attack
>>183556Silver gives Mala some pets, seeing if that will reassure him moreso. Kira thinks to herself,
that's odd... as she whiffs on the lunge and hits the ground with an "Oof!" May she try again to grab the sheep?
>>183560(And I forgot the +2 momentum bonus)
>>183560Brie has the SheepOpposed[1d20 = 3]>>183557>it was just a shitpost roll anywaysThen what the fuck is a serious roll and how am I supposed to tellIt's as much of a shitpost roll as any you've rolled this entire campaign
Posey does not get the sheep
>>183561Mala is pet, and reassured just a little bit more. Kira on the otherhoof...
Kira has heard of how the old lamia die. They become big, old. Slow. Pondersome. They aren't as dexterous as the once were, and when they lunge for prey, they miss. They slowly starve to death, fading away from the world.
Kira can again, but there's probably going to be a bat around it
