I am available the rest of this evening. The sooner we start, the better.
>>184943Okay, sadly only watched the very first nine episodes of GoT, years ago, so I don't know of which scene you're referring to. But I am curious. Could you elaborate?
>>184945>Worst pony-tier...;P
Otherwise, ty. Virgin would appreciate the compliment in the same sense as if I told you, 'you're great at cooking'. She doesn't see her own appeal. She thinks that she lacks feminine grace due to her bulk and muscles. She kinda sees herself a bit like a colt, sort of. I haven't made up my mind on that yet. Hmm.
>>184947<Woah, Glimmer! Great moves. <Woah, Glimmer great. <It's a good day to have a good day. <It's a good day to have a good day. >>184948Share you're esoteric knowledge about marez nao! ^^
>>184946>I assumed you meant she used big pony eyes on the stallion. You assumed correctly.
>Well, there's two types of weaponized cuteness mares can use: adorableness, and sexiness.Where in the PhB can I find this?
>The directions given by the unicorn"Ah, thank you. I really appreciate it. You're quite the helpful fellow," Vir says and beams at him but
>"Careful. She could crush you with those thighs."she snorts heightens her one of her eyebrows. "But you're friend is silly. First off, you should only use violence as a last resort.-" She nods to her own wise words. "-Secondly, who attacks with their rump?"
Vir chuckles.
Okay, everypony in the Mended Horn group. You have a surprise round if you want to take it. One standard action, which is a single attack. Take it if you like. Otherwise, say what you want your character to do
>>184951Hello!
waves>>184950The pegasus continues staring at her skeptically, keeping the unicorn out of range of her things (but probably not her front hooves).
"I said the thighs. Not the rump."
The black unicorn stallion waves at her
"Uh, have a nice day!...?"
>>184948yeah, I don't know what you're talking about
>>184952is waved backwaves backIf we only get a standard action, I vote we let Dust do his cool thing.
>>184955We're going to do combat
You have a surprise round if you want it.
>>184952OH HELL YEAH
Is there anyone opposed to Dust being bait? If so, you have until I finish typing this post
>>184952"Uh huh, yeah," Vir says. "And some call it the plot. You say tomato, I say potato. What's your point?"
She smiles smugly as she just won the argument. She looks over at the unicorn.
She curtsies and bows at the same time.
"Thank you kind, sir. May the blessings of Princess Celestia be upon thee."
She turns to follow the directions she has been given.
>>184957I'd be happy with opening fire now, but if we successfully bait them wouldn't we get a flanking bonus? If so then let's do it.
>>184959The pegasus is just confused.
Vir continues down the road quite a ways, presumably not stopping until she reaches the Grand Baltimare Hotel (description to come)
>>184957Posey wants everyone to use the surprise round to shoot at the giant to try to kill it or reduce it to almost die
>>184960They have no dex bonus as it is, perhaps even flanking
>>184962>The pegasus is just confused.^^
>(description to come)Nice, no pressure tho. ^^
>>184962Then we should skip baiting and just open fire on the closest "starfish." Do the other players agree?
>>184964>>184962You'll get flanking. My typing is done. Speak now or forever hold your peace
Dust nods solumnly as the rest of the party takes their positions closer to the beasts. He stays further behind than the others, but plods quietly away from the party to create separation. We'll say about a 90 degree angle between him and the party if the abomination is the vertex. Hopefully enough that it will target him well before attacking the others, and give them a flanking advantage.
He stops just short of stepping out from behind cover, he says a short prayer to Zanit and Aztartes. Let this battle please them. He draws a line behind him in the dust with his back hooves. He will not cross back over that line until he or this monster breathe their last, and with that he steps out from behind cover. He makes no attempts to be stealthy, but he's not making his presence known. He then prays. The words are lost at the distance, but even the party can hear a small rhythmic chant. If they are watching him, they can see a small greenish glow begin to engulf Dust, starting from the ground, through his hooves, and into his barrel. He's glowing pretty well now, it should be obvious to anything in the area. Dust then raises a hoof, and the glow moves from his barrel to his hoof.
The glow shoots forth as a thin beam, aimed straight at the abomination where it stands.
Ranged touch attack [1d20+4 = (18+4) = 22]
Damage [3d8 = 14]
>>184966Nice description. Nice rolls. ^^
>>184966>>184962Silver and Kira follow suit, taking aim with their weapons.
Silver lets out a battlecry, shouting to the party: "НИКАКОГО СТРАХА, НИКАКИХ КОЛЕБАНИЙ, НИКАКОЙ БОЛИ, НИКАКИХ РАСКАЯНИЯ!" They can't tell what he says but it sounds inspirational. He fires his rifle, it letting out a sharp
BANG as he takes aim at the giant abomination.
[1d20+11 = (6+11) = 17][2d8 = 10]Working the bolt with practiced swiftness, Silver takes aim again at the giant creature and fires.
[1d20+6 = (20+6) = 26][2d8 = 8]Kira gulps, and takes two arrows. The creature is beyond the comfortable range of her bow, so she isn't planning on pulling any fancy tricks. Accuracy is prioritized over flash. Drawing her powerful bow string, she lets loose two arrows back-to-back aimed at the same giant abomination.
[1d20+9 = (11+9) = 20][1d8+5 = (8+5) = 13][1d20+4 = (17+4) = 21][1d8+5 = (3+5) = 8] >>184971Confirming the second rifle shot.
[1d20+11 = (19+11) = 30] >>184966Nicely done!
Cavaliere is a little over 50 feet from the abomination. This places him within two range increments of it. He is within a sort of hunting blind he's made from the camouflage net next to the stone hut, and is also behind a three-feet wall. From a distance the net looks to be some kind of moss or bush on the side of the structure.
He opens the net just enough to extend a claw out and shoot dead center at the abomination, and then closes the opening to hide once more as he observes.
Ranged attack:
[1d20+6 = (7+6) = 13]Damage:
[2d6 = 7]Hide:
[1d20+3 = (3+3) = 6] (the rulebook says there's a -20 penalty to hiding after an attack, but the monsters are distracted and Cavaliere is within concealment which would add a very hefty circumstance bonus)
>>184966Posey attacks with her bone now:
[1d20+6 = (4+6) = 10]Damage
[1d10+3 = (4+3) = 7] (iajutsu needs to be rolled separately)
Iajutsu Focus
[1d20+8 = (2+8) = 10]Her Dreads fire their rifles
Dread 1:
[1d20+5 = (4+5) = 9]Damage
[2d8 = 9]Dread 2:
[1d20+5 = (1+5) = 6]damage
[2d8 = 10]Rolling Posey's Initiative
[1d20+7 = (19+7) = 26] (+1 if her attack hits)
>>184966Uh, he'd have to move to the left past the ruined house on the left, and jumping over another wall. It's completely doable, but he'd have to circle around behind a ruined house.
>>184971No, you opnly get the single attack in a surprise round. After that, initiative is rolled, and the fight begins in earnest.
Think about it. The idea of a surprise round is that the enemy doesn't know you're there. But in the two to three seconds it takes to draw another bow or to cycle a bolt, that's enough time for an enemy to flinch and maybe assume a more defensive posture.
>miss
>miss
>miss
So it begins...
>>184975scrunchI guess that means no crit for Silver then.
Also, initiative
Silver:
[1d20+4 = (20+4) = 24]Kira:
[1d20+3 = (1+3) = 4] Rolling initiative: [1d20+3 = (8+3) = 11]
>>184969Why thank you.
>>184975That was the point. I wanted separation.
Init
[1d20 = 7] Okay, so Posey goes first in initiative?
She does a repeat of her previous turn, cursing herself for squandering the benefit of surprise. Luckily, the enemy is still flat-footed.
Posey attacks with her bone now:
[1d20+6 = (16+6) = 22]
Damage
[1d10+3 = (6+3) = 9] (iajutsu needs to be rolled separately)
Iajutsu Focus
[1d20+8 = (9+8) = 17]
Her Dreads fire their rifles
Dread 1:
[1d20+5 = (7+5) = 12]
Damage
[2d8 = 6]
Dread 2:
[1d20+5 = (7+5) = 12]
damage
[2d8 = 12]
>>184981That's much more like it.
Roll extra ki damage, from iajutsu
[2d6 = 9] >>184981>>184982We are waiting on Brie I guess.
Also where does the "+1 if her attack hits" come from?
>>184974 Uh, did Brie ever decide on a course of action?
>>184971Silver's bullet hits the hide at a slight angle, and seems to bury itself in it. It does not seem to harm it
Kira's arrow must have hit an exposed portion around its neck, because it screams
>>184966RAAH!Dust burns it
>>184973Cavaliere hits it, yet evidently the bullet fails to pierce its hide.
>>184974One bullet goes wide, while one bullet appears to bounce and shatter, and another goes wide
>>184981Brie hasn't even shown up and the enemies haven't rolled intiative
>>184983It's doesn't apply anyway, because she missed.
>>184984>Uh, did Brie ever decide on a course of action?Iirc, he was sneaking closer. The bullets should provide him enough distraction.
Well this is awkward. I think Brie fell asleep.
>>184988Dust just stole his only real angle of attack though that would have him unnoticed. It would have been really good though.
>>184991Dust got to look really cool though, which is worth it.
>>184991>I think Brie fell asleepHe did post his character sheet and give us permission to use his modifiers. Let's just have him attack at range while flying, so he won't die.
He has improved feint, so he can spend move actions to sneak attack targets that can see him.
>>184999Nah, I think we need to wait for him for combat. If it was something like some skill checks I wouldn't feel bad, but I don't think it's fair to do an entire combat without him when he seems to love combat so much.
>>185002There will be more encounters.
Well, if there is ever a non-pivotal combat encounter, and I am not present, let the record show that you can play without me.
Mala would also be told before the attack that they're going to try to take out any possessed ponies non-lethally. The demons are fair game, though.
>>184920>>184924Just wondering what was ambiguous about this
>>185121Nothing at all. You made it very clear that you weren't going to specify an action
>>185123If I cant establish what I will do in advance, youre making it harder to play
>>185126Because I said you can't hide in plain sight in midair while moving in Daylight?
>>185129Yes, thats why I explained the whole 30' range sneak attack thing,... saying "okay, wr'll do the solid snake thing",... whatever
>>185130>Yes, thats why I explained the whole 30' range sneak attack thingAnd then you didn't say what you were going to do
>"okay, wr'll do the solid snake thing"I don't know what that means.
I've played a grand total of three minutes of Metal Gear Solid 4, and that's the totality of my experience with the series
>>185132Yes, I appreciate that I have to explain exactly what I mean in exacting detail in advance cuz I have to compensate for a game I dont know when is gonna play, and a whole lot of personal shit. I got it. Moving on, I will be entirely unambiguous just to be sure.
As a non actionable example, what I would have said is:
"Brie's primary focus will be on getting 5d6 damage on the surprise round with his pistol on either Starmie or the giant, and then eliminating through stab or compromising through grapple whoever is left, especially anyone using a more-than-light weapon."
Im ranting in here so I dont derail/fuck up elsewhere. But like, of all the things to have an unresponsive character who was JUST setting up for a strategic attack,...
You had him stand there with his jaw open?
>>185145I had him fly to within 30 feet of the big enemy and make an attack, which necessarily required waiting until initiative was rolled. You very strongly implied this is what you wanted him to do.
