RP Thread. Its D&D mixed with shitposting. Classic (flexible) rules, and more autism than you could shake a whole group of autists at, even if you did so autistically. New players area always welcome, whether continuing, one-time, or 'just shitposting'.
Welcome back to the ahem 'Bathhouse', a progressive thread that I'm sure plenty of anons wish would just fucking die already. What, its true,....
This particular beginning is heavily seasoned with enthusiasm and delight. Hot on the heels of killing a bunch of We Wuz, the party almost shattered for several reasons, both in-game and out. In spite of it all, the characters continue on their quest to do,... well,... stuff.
Trumpaladin has been gifted a quest from Lord John Elway. Infernius has been gifted a quest from the Fuhrer, Tracy wants to stab more shit, Torcuil is beginning to get clever with his use of Snek not like that you perv and Thez is thanking her lucky stars that she even exists anymore.
1160 replies and 121 files omitted.
Torc decides to train Snek while his faggot gets artistic.
Can Snek get feats? Or no?
>>47682I'm good with it. Only one to start tho.
>>47678>Thez is thanking her lucky stars that she even exists anymoreI still kek at how ironic that sounds.
>>47682I suggest Point Blank Shot, or Exotic Weapon Proficiency.
Tracy feeds her birds once again.
>>47681 →>will be consideredMaybe I said too much... Hehe..
>>47683You know, perfectly abiding by the rules, and even at level 17, Trumpaladin is eligible for a very young Silver dragon as a cohort. At level 18, he'll be eligible for a very young Gold Dragon
>>47688I thought you had to be ebin lvl for that?
>>47688And when he's into lower epic levels, he'll be eligible for a young Gold dragon, or even a juvenile Silver Dragon
I tried drawing Mr. Snek, and I learned I can't draw a fucking gun for shit. Snek turned out pretty good though>>47685>>47683I think point blank shot would be best for Snek, especially since it opens up the way for more ranged feats.
>>47690What determines what cohorts you can attract and when?
Also, can Tracy make a profession check to open her Ranch now?
>>47689Well, the dragons I want are ones that share my alignment and these are also the ones that have the ability to shape shift, which limits it to the third (sort of tied for second) most ebin dragon (besides bullshit like the force dragon) in the entire set of dragons, and the most ebin dragon subspecies in the book. This means that the two dragon subspecies I am interested in have high modifiers.
>>47693Well, you have to have the leadership feat (and epic leadership to have leadership scores beyond level 25), and then leadership score is determined by character level plus charisma modifier and a few other modifiers, but the leadership score allows you to attract a cohort of up to a certain effective character level. You can have a cohort of up to two effective character levels lower than your current level, but never higher.
effective character level is not the same thing as hit die, since many races have features that make them more powerful or capable per hit die than others. The two lawful good dragon species have very high adjustment modifiers, so that means a pretty strict limit on the number of hit die he can have in a cohort.
A character can try to attract cohorts of specific races, classes, and alignments.
>>47695Can you attract outsiders as cohorts?
>>47696Several types of outsiders have adjustment scores so apparently yes
[1d20+16 = 23]>>47697>>47694Making Profession (animal/monster husbandry) check to open personal Monster Ranch in forest/grove.
>>47699It's not like Dimensional Anchor has a limited amount of time that it's effective or anything
>>47698I wouldn't mind having some hags, giants, or devils to help out around the place.
>>47701We'll just re-cast the spell.
Wait until all of the zombies get hungry and eat each other.
[1d6 = 1]
[11d8+14 = 56]
Please excuse my random rolling as I run some numbers
>>47702Do you have no interest in killing things?
You only get one cohort
>>47704I'm not really that interested in attracting cohorts, but having NPCs to help-out around the ranch would be nice.
>>47699You will need to be explicit about what you envision, intend, and hope to affect by way of this Ranch. What is it called? The Ranch? This is not a "pass/fail" roll, this is an availability/suitability of land, resources, etc.
>>47701So very this
>>47706I hear there are mercenaries
>>47707I want her to have a small establishment in the woods, looking over a wide fenced portion of the grove which she's designated as her land. Animals she owns would be allowed to graze there.
I didn't think of a name, desu. I mostly wanted land, rather than shekels. I guess just saying "Tracy's Grazing Space: Trespassers will be stabbed on sight" was kind of my idea at first, but that feels kind of stupid in hindsight... I'll think of a name.
My primary goal was the acquisition of land and animals. The land being for her personal use primarily (ponies like having land).
>>47710Whatever pets she accumulated that she didn't feel like killing or otherwise found: they'd be allowed to live there semi-peacefully.
I thought of buying horses too, since they're not expensive.
>>47712Land is the first step, but yes, I want monsters.
>>47713Basic/common livestock would be available more or less, as well as land for crops so as to design a fully sovereign and self-sustaining operation. Like a Shaolin Temple except more stabby.
>>47714It's good to have land, especially in a feudal system.
>>47716I said at the beginning that one of her original goals was to buy-up land to live on after she'd settled down.
Also, bring land-less in a feudal system is the epitome of cuckholdry.
I think I might want to have her investigate the far end of that grove first though. The way that Nithing was destroyed hints at some potentially annoying holy crap that I'd rather purge sooner than later.
>>47718Some potentially annoying crap you'd rather purge sooner than later?
You mean like a nest of lichs and phylacteries in the harbor?
*keens edges to prepare for next crawl*
>>47725No, they can't get tired: they don't even have Constitution scores.
[frustrates rogue noises]
>>47726>>47726Just for the hell of it I decided to roll for Fae's treasure - since new NPCs are supposed to have a standard set of equipment when they join the party, and when it's a monster with a CR rating, you use the monster's treasure instead - and I ended up with a scroll that has two "waves of exhaustion" spells on it. A spell that does pretty much exactly what the Dragonne breathe weapon does
>>47729Pretty sure you don't roll starting gear for pre-existing NPCs.
>Breath weaponIt's a Sonic attack. Like that of a Howler or Yeth Hound.
I want to level up already so Tracy can summon her servant..
>>47730You roll gear for new cohorts (though she's not a cohort)
>>47732I did the math and we have a very, very, very large number of mummies and lichs to kill before the next level
>Sonic affectEh, it doesn't say so in the entry, so I'm guessing for the purposes of whatever usually negates a sonic effect it's not one. It looks like a reference to Dragon breath weapons and lion roars, since it's a supernatural ability
>>47733Or it's not a sonic type that cannot be stopped by plugging the ears. Not mind-affecting
\r
>>47733Several creatures have roar/howl Ex abilities: they're considered to be Sonic weapons.
>>47736Okay. I don't really care what you call it. There is absolutely nothing in the entry for either one that suggests a supernatural sonic attack is anything other than a kind of breath weapon, and if it isn't, I don't give a shit, because I like the idea of a hybrid brass dragon having its own breath weapon and I don't care about pedantry for a fantasy game
>>47735>Not mind-affectingIt's a Charisma-based will save though, so it'd still effectively have the same mechanic.
It's definitely not a Breath Weapon: it'd allow a reflex save in that case.
>Covering your earsFew creatures have that ability, but I doubt any creature unable to hear the roar would be affected. It probably wouldn't affect any deaf creature, or a sonic-immune creature like a Destrachan (fucking love Destrachans btw).
>>47738It probably would've been listed as a spell-like ability if it used any component other than Sonic, so it probably follows the basic rules of Sonic abilities:
https://dnd-wiki.org/wiki/SRD:Sonic_Attack >>47738>It would allow a reflex save if it were a breath weaponDid you even read the entry? It says:
"Some breath weapons allow a Fortitude save or a Will save instead of a Reflex save"
>I doubt any creature unable to hear the roar would be affected. It probably wouldn't affect any deaf creature, or a sonic-immune creature like a Destrachan (fucking love Destrachans btw)All of that shit you made up. None of that is in the entry.
>>47740Did you bother to read the entry for Dragonne? It's an Su - a supernatural ability. Not an Sp or spell like ability. Like a breathe weapon.
>>47741Yeah, I'm just typing out of memory.. It is an Su ability now that I look at it.
I guess it's not far-fetched to treat it as a breath weapon, since only Dragonnes are immune to it, like every other creature with that ability. I wonder what energy it'd be based off.
>this grammar
That's a good sign that it's time for me to sleep..
>>47742Sonic is an energy type, so maybe both at the same time
>>47743I should probably sleep for once
>>47744Considering that it's will-based, it really doesn't matter if you call it a breath weapon or not. The Roar by itself is it's own ability. I just thought it'd be treated just like a howler's roar.
Sonic attacks are great. Too bad so few of them are ally exclusive. Great spread though.
>>47745>Not ally exclusiveShhh! Don't let GM find out, because I want to use this ability in the future
It's a 6 point strength and Dexterity drain for all creatures within 30 feet that fail their saving throws. If I cast Eagle's splendor on self and mount - or if she casts Eagle's splendor on herself when she levels up - then the save DC on her roar rises by another two points
>>47746It isn't though.
That's why I've never bothered to summon a Howler: it'd exhaust everyone but Tracy and Thez.
>>47747Neither the dwelf nor the pony are outsiders
>>47748Tracy is in nightmare form. Thez counts as one because of her Perfect Self class feature.
>>47749I think that was what was bannished though
>Tracy is in nightmare formCreatures with alternate forms retain the type and subtype of the original form. Do you want to be specially vulnerable to banes and various anti-evil outsider spells? Because that's the only difference it makes
>>47750I assumed she counted as one because everything else was the same, but I don't really know or care. The subtype isn't really that relevant for me.
>>47751Either way, she could always just change back into a pony if there's issues.
If I burn/blow-up a building or other lage populated area, and a bunch of NPCs die at once, do I still get XP for killing them indirectly?
>>47733>we have a very, very, very large number of mummies and lichs to kill before the next levelThen we'll just have to re-kill them faster.
Is the party going to try to smack some info out of Kang Doot before the crawl?
>>47754You'll need to supply more hypothetical context. As you have worded it, no.
>>47756It was mostly a joke to stir-up conversation.
But hypothetically, if you set fire to a building to kill an enemy inside, does that count as your kill?
>>47756Now I have a question along those lines.
If Torc somehow set the dust on fire triggering the explosion, how much of the dungeon would that bypass?
Also, can Snek get a chameleon ring?
>>47759The dungeon is made of glassteel, so it's pretty much indestructible to any means except the ship's cannons (your meteor swarm didn't do shit to it, remember).
Remind me to pick-up the shards of material from where we entered, so Tracy can make some collector's-edition shanks.
>>47759>chameleon ringIf you manage to get one, he could wear it on his tail.
You could also just cast invisibility on him, if you wanted. Tracy could also make him a Hat of Disguise, to emulate the effect.
>>47761Snek with hat is /bestmeme/, btw.
>>47762Snek w/ hat thread when?
>>47759Chameleon rings require 13 days of Disguise Self and Invisibility to fabricate.
>>47763>whenSoon...
>>47761>ring or hatYeah, I guess a hat would be good, looks pretty good on sneks for some reason.
But I really wanted that +10 on hide checks
>>47760I know the fire won't do shit to the temple, but the same isn't quite true for everything inside.
>>47764>I really wanted that +10 on hide checksYou and me both…
He'd need it, because he's YUGE, so he takes a -8 penalty on Hide checks.
I'm not sure if he retains his monster skill points after getting class levels, but a Giant Constrictor normally has 10 ranks in Hide.
>>47766But he gets a +4 species bonus for hide checks, so I don't know if that means the -8 doesn't apply to him or what.
>>47767He get's both: -8 size penalty and +4 racial bonus.
>>47768That's not good for a rogue
>>47769>>47770He's not even first level yet, he's level 0
>>47771But doesn't he have 13 levels in snek and probably a familiar HD bonus?
>>47772Do your creature stats really stack with your character lvls?
>>47771>level 0What does that mean, btw?
>>47772Yes and no. He's an 11HD creature, but hasn't gained sufficient experience to advance to level 1 as a Rogue. As a familiar, he gets +9 to his Natural Armor, and has a de-facto intelligence of 14. As a familiar also, he has a default HP of 1/2 Torcuil.
BTW, Torcuil gets +2 on his bluff checks.
Level 0 means that the character has begun to learn the basics of the class, and gets minimal (very) abilities of the class.
Thez for example, declared level 0 Sorcerer. Because of her Charisma bonus she can cast 1 bonus 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th level spell per day, but she only
knows one 0 level spell (Dancing Lights). So she can cast Dancing Lights a bunch of times.
In a comparable manner, Snek would have minimal initial skill points to apply (level one is (8+Int)x4, probably <1/2. Additionally he wouldn't yet be able to sneak attack, etc.
>>47773When determining character level, yes, you stack racial hit die of a monster with its character levels
>>47774I think that means snek is not yet a rogue
Definitely claiming a Silver or Gold dragon as a waifu
>>47772Do characters with PC class levels even get the bonus HD?
>>47775Is there any drawback to taking zero levels?
I might have Tracy late a 0 lvl in Sorcerer then, so she can get Mage Hand and lvl up as an Arcane Trickster.
Could Snek get a top hat with the Shadow enchantment?
>>47776Trump is still with the party yes?
"Uhm,... can I ask you something?" Thez asks, attempting nonchalance, but failing cuz Trump's sense motive is absurd. She wants something.
>>47778Both canon and ITT, I'm going with "no". I allowed it for Fae cuz otherwise she's cannon fodder, but Tracy is already more than uber.
>>47779Taking a 0 level commits the character to advancing in that level upon next level advancement, which may have its own variety of consequences.
Now for the part you're all going to like (mostly).
When it comes to skill checks, there's an optional rule I've been employing liberally without saying anything.
Any time a character is making a skill check against a DC that is -20 or more of their rank, they can opt to take a 10 on their dice roll as long as they are not engaged in combat. The idea is that the task of so simple compared to their developed skill that they could do it with their eyes closed. Tying one's shoes would be a DC1 rope use check, where its so basic that the chance of failure is nil.
>>47782"Do you,... still have that robe with all the pockets? I was thinking,... if you weren't using it,... I mean if you are using it then forget I said anything. But if you're not,... I don't know,... maybe you'd consider trading for something?"
GM, can you answer that question about the Hecatoncheires?
>>47784What's the DC for tying someone else's shoes together?
>>47783I just want to know if he'll allow it. I could always make the hat now, and enchant it later
>>47785"Yes, I believe it's on Fae's bags. I placed most of Kiynen's horde in it, so hold on while I get it and remove those items"
>>47787I think it's only armor that can have Shadow.
…But if not, I'll gladly load Tracy up with magick socks, panties, garters., etc.
>>47786Depends on the circumstances. Is one hiding under their table at a noisy tavern? Is it on a barren street while the person is busy heading somewhere or other?
>HecatoncheiresWhich part?
>>47789>not dimensionalYes they are
>>47785>excited dwelf noises *carefully hides items in room's dresser drawers, placing books about Football and Income Tax over top to deter Tracy from rummaging*
>>47790>covering up a pony with pantiesHARAM
>>47791*Is now wondering what is going on*
>>47791>Which part?The part about the blood-forged weapons.
Is deity blood a special material for craft? Refer to:
>>47417 →I was wondering if Tracy could use Kefka's body parts to make a special weapon later on, because that monster description implied that it had properties that made it deadly to some monsters.
I thought it'd make a great tempering fluid for an awesome mace or sword.
>>47794Yeah, I thought about that right after I posted it.
Uh...Tracy can buy horses with some of it I guess
>>47795I'm in no hurry.
Just don't get bent out of shape if I want to take other things.
>>47793First off, they're not immune. Heca,... those things regenerate against any weapon
other than blood-forged or Good-aligned weapons. For two, those things are OP AF. I'm a little astonished that someone bothered to create them
and then make them official.
Having said, maybe but IDK. Its not something I expected to have to consider.
>>47792Several things. Currently Thez is wearing a simple monk's fighting outfit (a Gi, for the martial artists in the periphery). As a monk, she takes penalties if she wears armor or is otherwise encumbered, but an article like a robe can be utilized without penalties. For two, Thez is a knob about some things, and is planning for carrying all the material components (that she doesn't need) that she'll need as a sorcerer.
>>47797Um, okay. What's the rating on her amulet of the mighty fists, and/or does she have an extra lying around?
>>47796>If I want to take other thingsThe only reason I thought to hide it was because of the possibility that
all of it would fall in the "I take things I don't actually want just because klepto"
>>47797Since it's the blood of a Chaotic Ebil demigod, I thought it'd make for a ebin murder-mace, maybe with specific powers, if I can find the time for her to work on it.
> I'm a little astonished that someone bothered to create them and then make them official. something I expected to have to consider.Ikr. Epin-level monsters are terrifying. Some are even rank-0 deities, like Phaethons, Atropals, or Infernals: all apocalypse-tier.
>>47798The amulet is part of her belt and can't be removed, along with the amulet of non-detection. Its an heirloom item associated with mastery of her former/native Monk monastery. She doesn't have an extra, and its +5 (meaning, requiring at least a 15th level caster, and 50 days to fabricate).
>>47799Just one of those - which aren't unique creatures - could easily walk through most of the Infernal lords. Soros would get his ass handed to him for example.
>>47800It looks to me like the publications for epic-level monsters, classes and spells were mostly made for high-level campaigns that focused on insane missions, like theomachia or apocalypse-reversal, from what I've gathered. Even the existance of Abominations seems to be put in the game for "let's go kill a literal god" kind of campaigns.
>>47801Well, the challenge ratings are based off "The level that a 4-player party would theoretically need to be to vanquish". Hecs are 57th? Absurd. Thez only got where she's at because she spent an excessive amount of time soloing and not sharing xp. I can't imagine ranking
4 players to that point,
let alone past it.
>>47802It has superior multi-weapon fighting, and it has a
hundred arms. Nothing but an actual god of war, with 50 ranks in Fighter (maybe, if he's lucky) could best it in combat.
It's based off of those mythical ancient greek primordial giants who lived before the gods or even the titans: they could tear mountains in two with their strength.
>>47803It's based off of dark and elder things alright, but I don't think Greek mythology is the closest comparison
>>47803The other ebin monsters are freaky too.
An Atropal is like every abortion every woman ever had, coming back for revenge on the living. Infernals eat Balors and Pit Fiends' faces as an afternoon snack. A Phaethon is like a walking nuclear explosion.
>>47804>(1)Wait, who's speaking now?
>>47803Right. Meaning, the party would pretty much have to have divine rank of their own in order to concern themselves with it, unless it was used as a Deus Ex Machina-type, story that isn't so much vanquished as it is defeated, sealed, cast into other realms, etc. As a looming (pun intended) threat, sure but as a legit fight? I say again, absurd.
>>47808According to wiki sources, they're the oldest Abominations: born of proto-deities early in the multiverse's history. They're older than most gods, unlike most other Abominations, who are usually the offspring of gods.
>>47807Nobully; it could be Lenos, it could be Anon
griffonfilly, it could be Sad Alex, Taylor, or any number of possibilities.
>>47809Again, I'm just seeing something absurd that no reasonable party could/would ever think of actually trying to kill, and if they
are I question their creativity as players and that of the GM, as well as the authenticity and legitimacy of their campaign desu.
We were talking about God-granted quests earlier; this is a
God quest.
>>47808>party would pretty much have to have divine rank of their own in order to concern themselves with itYeah. It looks like a challenge for a team of Divine Minions, with Epic Prestige classes.
>>47810>God questDo you mean God Quest as in instant-Geas, or God Quest as in "prove yourself!" ?
>>47812Ah.
Yeah, and not just rank 1-5 demigods like Kefka; actual gods.
I'll be back tonight, if anyone is still on. Later my dudes
>>47803Im gonna need a bigger strength bonus.
>>47819>>47814I want to grapple a rank 5 deity.
>>47820Gib Tracy the corpse when you're done.
>>47820Infernius should've been Strength Domain, desu.

>>47833Oh, don't even get me started, its part of my diabolical 1488 scheme. Major cities are largely lost. Its largely (only?) by fomenting the awareness

its not too late to redpill on muslims (not exclusively) and who havve EVERY incentive to avoid and act against further decay of the US.
Will we be playing tonight?
Tracy feeds her birds again.
>>47838They're getting kinda big. They're about 12' sitting down, (cuz there's not much mass to the legs) and they're beginning to show coloration. One (I forget the name at the moment and I'll lose focus if I look it up, but its within the theme) is beginning to show an almost fluorescence, trending toward violet or blue.
>>47839"Who's a pretty ~birdie?"
*gently pets fluff*
They were named Sammy and Bunny.
They show the dopiest enthusiasm before Tracy even enters the room. They can't smell or "specifically" detect that its Tracy, but there's a consistency to her presentation. Preceeding Tracy's arrival would be a series of incredibly minute details that would otherwise go unnoticed to a conscious biped (read: hooman) but which animals take to readily. This is why I contest the intelligence scale wrt animals, but I digress. I do admit that there is a significant possibility that atypical stats, behavior, intelligence, etc. that is observable IRL animals might not exclusive to "player" interaction. Simply, I've always observed highly intelligent dogs, cats, etc. Having said, I have always (almost) observed them amongst exceptional individuals.
>>47841So each of those birds which Tracy got for free are not only able to almost equal Fae in one on one combat, but they're magic beasts as well?
>>47843Dont even starr bro. Some of us Dont have any animal companions
And you got fae for free.
>>47841Tracy dumps out out her bag of ground elephant meat a lightly-cooked egg yolks and watches happily as they eat, with a slight blush about her cheeks.
>>47843>magicalNo. Rocs are animals. You're thinking of Giant Eagles.
GM just thinks animals are smarter than the game-makers give them credit for, and is building character in their subtle responses.
>>47844Go talk to your doggo.
