>>180498Stop. We will convene when we convene
>>180498That's the last bit for today
>>180510Sven, you can (maybe?) Continue.
>>180498This player likes to drive action so they can capitalize. Not hating, I do it too. But we're waiting on a green-light from GM to continue.
>>180512Yeah, probably. I was just essentially blacking out at the time due to how sleepy I was.
>>180497Nice!
Vir lands it on the bank and the proceed to roll it up her the place where her cloak, hopefully still is^^.
She zeeber on my zoober til I goober.
So there's a boat? Have we sunk it yet?
>>180527The boat is already damaged, apparently by sabotage. We're considering blowing it up to draw out enemies/charges towards us. What do you think of that?
>>180529Is this being openly discussed or discretely? Has anyone been below decks yet?
>>180534We were discussing it in character.
It's yet to be determined if there's more of the boat to be searched.
>>180527Give it time…
>>180522Assuming that Virgin left her cloak on the riverbank, it’s still there, as nopony/creature nor wildlife has carried it off.
Virgin is a bit wet, but she has the statue head.
>>180535Thank you, sorry for posing the question, as I've now been able to puzzle through that section of the previous activity.
With the open discussion of blowing up the freighter - something Brie has many thoughts about, most of them critical - he would swoop in to comment at earliest convenience, abandoning his ready-action of death from above.
>>180536I daresay something usually blows up or catches fire every time
Cavaliere and Posey are the first two to encounter them
The rear room of the forward cabin is small, with a bed and table folded up to each side, life buoys on the wall, and a couple buckets on the floor, besides an open door to the cockpit and a set of stairs on the right going down below deck. Here too, the floor is wooden, somewhat wet,
Near the center of the room stands a griffin with a dark red coat and darker red-brown feathers, as if the color of congealed blood and standing blood respectively. His yellow beak hooks down decisively, his blue eyes are pale as to seem almost milky, and his pointed pupils seem unnaturally reflective. He wears a deep scowl, and more than that, on top of his head is a a tiara, made of yellow-white metal with three peaks with some sort of sea monster depicted in the center, and beneath that, three cut jewels, presumably rubies by their dull, red hue. It does not fit his head, being two narrow, and instead is forcefully placed upon it, and standing too high in an almost comical scene. He wears a leather vest. In his right claw is a spear that barely fits under the roof, with a very long, barbed headed point.
Standing to his right is another griffin with a dulled yellow coat and younger appearance. He too, wears a vest. There is visible dried blood coming down from under his vest. His green eyes and closed beak convey a clear expression of fear. He has pulled out a very long knife, held close to his chest. The pale next to him has surely just been placed down.
The red griffin speaks:
“Hvem er du? Pirater her for å ta kronen min?”
From behind, and from below the deck, another two griffins - one white, and one black - seem ready to join in.
>>180538>on top of his head is a a tiara, made of yellow-white metal with three peaks with some sort of sea monster depicted in the center, and beneath that, three cut jewels, presumably rubies by their dull, red hue.Looks like we've found Sørvik.
>It does not fit his head, being two narrow, and instead is forcefully placed upon it, and standing too high in an almost comical scene.Hmmm, sounds like it would fit better on Posey's head.
Posey's first order of business is to charm the griffons with her gaze, starting with the one wearing the crown, which she presumes to be the leader.
>“Hvem er du? Pirater her for å ta kronen min?”I just remembered from my sheet that Posey speaks griffon as one of her int bonus languages. What is he saying?
Nevertheless, she responds, gesturing towards the crowned griffon with the end of her polearm, boldly puffing out her chest
"You, you're Sørvik." she states
>>180540She repeats this again in griffon, in case he doesn't know the language
>>180540At this point, Brie would be attempting to slip undetected into the cabin, using Posey's engagement of the Griffons if any bonuses are to be applied beyond the following.
[1d20+13 = (15+13) = 28]
(watch out everypony, these guys are proficient in harpoons, and harpoons do just as much damage coming out as they do going in, including bonuses from smite, sneak attack, arcane channeling and the like. Don't get hit)
>>180542Good idea. Just don't attack until or unless they become hostile. We need information about the marines, so these guys are more useful to us alive, for now.
>>180392To be fair, I barely recall anything.
>>180538Cavaliere is careful to not make any sudden movements.
"You are Søren I presume?" he asks the red griffon.
"And you are…" he gestures to the yellow griffon,
"Nils? I don't speak your language."
>>180543His frog is on the smoke grenade as he creeps in to whatever degree of stealth he achieves; coiled to pounce but wary of what polearms do to charging opponents when set by skilled users, he hopes that this unicorn can talk these clearly-not-marines into a disadvantageous position
>>180545Sorry, Sørvik, nor Søren.
>>180545Griffon isn't an automatic language for you?
>>180549Aren't there different griffon languages? Cavaliere speaks Aquelian (French) and Wingbardian (Italian) as well as Ponish (English) and Feathesian (Danish I presume), but what the sealers are speaking is Norwegian.
>tfw ur languages are Ponish, Changeling, Neighponese, and Zebrican
>>180551There's different griffin languages?
Oh fuck, then I have no idea what language Posey speaks. I only have three bonus languages, and I spent two of them on Abyssal and Infernal.
>>180542I’m not certain Brie would be aware of this. He’s flying above and away from the action. This happens in a small, closed room in the fishing boat. There have been no loud sounds this far that would indicate a problem.
>>180554The party was openly talking about blowing the ship up, before heading toward the cabin. This alone would have warranted him closing, if for no other reason than to dissuade them from doing so.
>>180555Hearing voices inside would more than justify sneaking in.
>>180529My only concern is what if we need boat to leave?
Where is the Zeeb?
>>180553There are a lot of languages in the setting and although Abyssal and Infernal might be useful for Posey, you are bound to find characters who speak a different language compared to your own, like here. Think of how the real world was before English became the universal language.
Wait, I have a question. Isn't it a Feathesian ship that is crashed somewhere on the island? Cavaliere's knowledge of Feathesian may prove useful.
>>180555>>180556Brie was left behind on the cliff above the landing point. He might have followed Cavaliere, who went up there himself and followed the rest of the party to the hamlet. If Brie is at his original position he could not have heard the others, even with his bat hearing.
>>180557I'm not sure. I think he was also in the hamlet?
>>180558No, I have been in communication with GM, and Brie was 80' above the party as they boarded the freighter, before closing in on them to dissuade blowing up the thing (yet), which with a reasonable passage of time would have him getting to the cabin just after Posey and Cavaliere entered, enabling him to try and sneak in undetected.
Did anybody prepare Tongues? If we can't communicate with them, it might just be cowabunga from here.
>>180557Zeeb is presumably not far behind us, probably on the upper deck.
>>180554Can the griffons understand Possy?
>>180558Darn, I'm going to have to revise my languages later.
>>180560If negotiations break down, there's the old "double-fist two primed hoof grenades" intimidation tactic
Does anybody know a language that these griffons would speak?
>>180561Whether the griffons are mind-controlled or not, we would prefer a non-lethal takedown. It wouldn't be hard to kill them without damage to ourselves, but the good-aligned PCs in the party wouldn't approve of that. Not to mention, a gunshot could be heard by hostiles on the island, and a grenade is much louder than a gunshot.
>>180564I don't even know what language they're speaking or the EaW country they're from.
Presumably, Silver, Kira, and Dust are standing on the deck.
>>180542It isn’t blatantly obvious
how to slip around into the cabin, with only one clearly visible entrance, which is the one Posey and Cavaliere are standing in.
>>180540It probably would fit Posey better, but it isn’t quite pony shaped either.
Posey recognizes “Pirate” and “you,” but it’s clearly a different language from what she knows.
Sørvik visibly winces, looks down and closes his eyes
[more to come]
>>180566A tumbling check, typically
[1d20+13 = (8+13) = 21]
>>180566Dust sits down, wondering how things are progressing below deck
Okay, back
>>180540>>180538Cavaliere, like Posey, recognizes a couple words "Pirate" and "You," but does not know the language.
Both the red griffin and the yellow griffin recoil in some degree of shock when they hear the names "Sørvik" and "Nils."
The Yellow griffin manages a smile to Posey.
The red one, however, looks back up to Posey, and brandishes his harpoon.
"Hvorfor retter du den tingen mot meg? Hva gjør du på skipet mitt? Og hvordan vet du hva jeg heter?"
>>180568Zeeb is on deck just behind everyone. He would likely figure out that something is going on
>>180567He wants to enter just behind Posey and Cavalliere, through the door the griffins are staring at?
>>180569What kind of check would it be for Posey to get across a rudimentary message using only pieces of the griffon languages she knows? Bluff?
>The red one, however, looks back up to Posey, and brandishes his harpoon.Looks like he passed his saving throw.
>>180569Yes, that's correct. He will be attempting to "cut the pie" at the widest angle and position for possible flanking or maneuvering, paying particular attention for any available cover or obstacles to exploit/avoid.
>>180572And he's moving defensively, gaining half dodge bonus if they get spooked
>>180566Nevermind, Feathesian is more Dutch.
Cavaliere places himself in front of Posey, shielding her from a potential attack.
He replies, slowly and carefully,
"You have been missing for a long time. We are here to help. Your ship is not seaworthy, and you look hurt."The fellow griffon also tries out the languages he knows.
"Spreekt u Feathesiaans? Parlez-vous Aquiléen? Forse sai parlare Wingbardiano?"
>>180572It's not an especially big room,
maybe 15 feet wide. There are objects in the room, like a table by the wall, but besides the door on the opposing side going to the cockpit, or the stairs going down - both of which have griffins in or near them - there's really not much.
>>180575Okay, taking the leftside rook position, casual posture (in spite of the batpone suit) preparing to attempt Neighponese and South Zebrican (and who knows, changeling), but otherwise waiting on the results of the dialogue others are engaged in.
(contemplating using the table as a barrier against harpoons)
Okay, Posey has the biggest Bluff mod. What should she try to say?
These birds are all clearly wounded, and have no transportation. We could offer them healing and a ride, if they cooperate.
Our priority is the Marines, so I'll start with that.
>>180571Posey, being a veteran of the Arcturian front, knows multiple words for warrior/knight/soldier in whatever griffon language they speak there. Maybe one of those words sounds similar."
"Pony soldiers. Have you seen them? Where." she says, in North griffonian
Bluff to get the message across.
[1d20+14 = (6+14) = 20]She glares at the one brandishing a weapon, and makes a universal "stand down for your own good" gesture
I'll treat this as Intimidate
[1d20+15 = (10+15) = 25]
>>180577I'm not sure bluff works as a means of getting across a language barrier. Good intimidate roll though
hopefully it doesn't backfire.
So has Brie already made his move?
