>>133048The brown wooden box has a rounded square grey screen in the center, and knobs at the bottom, sort of like a radio
>>133049"Oh, this is TV? We saw one of these in Maakie's office."
He looks at the device's price.
>>133051Silver's eyes widen even further.
"Oh sweet Celestia, this is going to set me back..."
>>133053Mala:
"Yes... Maakie did have one of these"
>>133054Silver turns to Mala.
"Since I am getting this TV...do we also have radio?"
>>133055He twists his lips
"I think there is one at the house"
>>133056"Hmm. Well, I suppose we shall see."
Silver goes to find the associate to help him with his final purchase.
>>133057The associate helps him, and a couple colts and Mala help to carry the safe, the refrigerator, and the Television. It's about 800 bits in total (less if cheaper units are used for the refrigerator and safe), and a pony shows silver how to set up the television at the house to receive analog signal.
>>133058He pays for it all, and pays close attention to the what the pony shows him. He gives him his thanks afterwards, and hitches himself to the cart with the new appliances.
>>133059Silver now has a cart full of multiple fancy new appliances
>>133060That he does. He looks to Mala.
"Alright, next is groceries, then home. I have couple of other little things I need to do, but you do not have to come along."
>>133061Mala tilts his head, but says
"Okay"
>>133062Silver heads for a grocery store to stock up on the essentials: milk, sugar, eggs, bread, flour, some fruit, etc. He also stocks up on the ingredients to make dinner for the house tonight. Egg noodles, cream of mushroom soup, an onion, a couple cans of mushrooms, and sour cream.
I've been lurking a while and was debating playing. It's too late now but I can join tomorrow if that's okay.
>>133063There's a corner grocery store just down the street. Sugar is available again - albeit at a premium - and some fruits, like mangos and strawberries, are missing, but bread, flour, milk, apples, bananas, and many other items are also available. Eggs are trickier to obtain, but they can be found.
>>133064That's okay. I have court in the morning anyways >>133063Egg noodles and cream of mushroom soup, unlike onions, but like eggs, require traveling a little further down the peninsula, to an even larger grocery store with more options.
>>133065>>133066Silver makes sure to get all the things on his list and, naturally, pay for them. Once he's done, he heads back home.
>>133067And so, with a few bits (~17) spent, Silver returns home
>>133068He turns to Mala once they arrive.
"Mind helping me bring this all inside?"
If today's not possible, whenever convenient will do.
>>133069"Sure" Mala says, calmly. He uses a belt to help wrap under the refrigerator and over his shoulders, helping to carry it up the stairs, though he comments
"Will we have room in the Kitchen for this thing? Also, where does the Tel... the box thing go?"
He likewise is able to help pull the safe in, and up the flight up stairs inside.
*cough cough*>>132990If Amber is not interrupted she'll leave the immigration building and find herself back on the street, unless if Discord did something wonky. She'll be moving back up north, keeping an eye out for the landmarks she saw earlier. She definitely will check out the ocean liner.
>>133083The ocean liner is immediately down on a dock on the same small peninsula, evidently unmoving at its mooring
>>133084Amber trots down to the ocean liner and looks up, impressed at how high the ship rises out of the water–and the dock.
How do ponies get all the way up there? she wonders to herself.
>>133082"I am hoping we have space, or we will have to find way to set it up outside. And we will set up TV in living room."
Silver, for his part, handles the TV.
>>133096It’s kind of big, and it looks like it’ll require moving the phonograph and the stuffed leopard
Mala nods
>>133097Might be free late tomorrow.
>>133097Silver rearranges the mentioned furniture to make room for the TV, and then sets it up as he was shown.
>>133107hopes>>133108Silver really has to push things aside, placing the phonograph partly into the dining area and pushing the taxidermied creature aside. But it fits. Jubilosa patters around across the floor, her claws making a definite tapping noise, as she moves back and forth looking at the new marvel. She says things like "I'd heard of these but never seen one" and "how does it work?"
Eventually, Silver
thinks he has it set up to where it can play
>>133109"Had I known that was TV in Maakie's office, I would have nabbed it. I had not heard of TVs before, I must have been really out of loop."
Silver turns it on, and turns to dial to one of the channels offered.
>>133109Sorry I couldn't make it tonight. I have tomorrow open though.
>>132971"Can you point me in the direction of a pony that might know?"
>>133123“Uh, there should be one at the offices of the mining company.”
>>133118Silver looks rather entranced by the television, like a foal seeing something amazing for the first time.
>>133125>>133110Turning on the screen, Silver sees a black and white display of an orchestra: ponies playing violins, the piano and the trombone. It’s a song Silver recognizes from his young adulthood, with an upbeat tune. Jubilosa seems enraptured by the site, and Mala moves over to watch the screen as well.
>>133126Silver sits down on the couch, content to sit and enjoy a moment of peaceful nostalgia. He scoots closer to Jubilosa and puts a foreleg around her in a side hug.
>>133124"Wait here. Once I talk to him, I might still need your help."
Spark heads there next.
>>133127She moves her head back and towards Silver, startled by the sudden movement. But she turns her head back forward, lays it on his shoulder, and watches the band play.
https://youtu.be/m0hlzE4MaZQ>>133128“Uh... alright.” He smiles awkwardly
Spark doesn’t know where the mining building is, but it turns out to not be a problem at all. The mining company building is near the police station on the top of the hill in Blackwood, and is one of the few buildings to have multiple floors. Entering inside an alleged green unicorn pony stands next to the door holding a Equestrian-style carbine and wearing the big fluffy white coats of the garrison. He watches Spark enter, saying nothing. There is a receptionist at the desk, who asks Spark “can I help you?”
>>133129As does Silver, closing his eyes as he listens to the music from before the world turned upside down, while cuddling with the beautiful griffon by his side.
>>133129"Yes. I am looking for somepony that can help me. I believe my friend is poisoned by this substance. The doctor told me to ask around here."
>>133130Yay!
Fantasy is currently shilling the griffins.
I might have time today.
>>133133Endless false promises.... Jesus....
>>133085>>133130Amber is able to get a pretty good view of the ship as it is moored next to the dock. It's a medium sized passenger liner with a black color scheme on the bottom of the hull, and a white strip along the top of the hull, as well as on the structures above the hull. It's structure rises several stories above the hull, and there are at least two smoke stacks and four masts. The ship, marked as the
Griffwallen of the Feathesian-Equestrian Line, doesn't appear to be occupied by any one.
>>133133Huzzah! Where do you want to start now?
>>133131The song played predates the occupation, the war, the other wars and invasions, the elements, the birth of Jubilosa, or Khoi, or Mala or Silver's children for that matter. It predates Silver's move to Manehattan, and even his earliest dates with Storm Waring...
not that it was absent from those, mind you. The sound quality isn't
quite as good as a phonograph, and it's certainly no live band, but Silver can tell there are more instruments playing, and a more professional band playing this old song, than what he heard in the park at Ponyville all those years ago. The feathers leaning next to Silver are new - he couldn't feel that before - as is the couch. But the sound is old, belonging to a time when SIlver was young.
>>133132"What?" She looks skeptical "No one has been poisoned."
>>133135Silver lets out a sigh.
"I remember those days..."
>>133136"Hmmm?" Jubilosa lazily asks, still riding the high of having television
>>133138Amber looks for any sort of way into the apparently deserted ship.
