My first question is a spot check [1d20+8 = (13+8) = 21] to try and see if anything about the situation seems off. I'm alluding to when Brie and Garv got ambushed.

I'm going to assume that if this IS an ambush,... and I am assuming that, that those rolls would likely not be sufficient to be certain, and in the face of uncertainty, he assumes the worst.

About 50 feet in front of the party members is a stone, low wall, two and a half to 3 feet tall. A natural break exists on the left. To move over one of these walls is at least a move action. To the left of the break in the wall is a ruined house, with the narrow side facing the party. It is on top of the near, long-side wall that one of the starfish stands.
In front of the party, just in front of the wall, is a stone storage hut maybe 8 feet wide and a little shorter. So long as we attack first, the enemy is going to be flat-footed. It shouldn't be that complicated for everyone to attack on the surprise round.

We'll say about a 90 degree angle between him and the party if the abomination is the vertex. Hopefully enough that it will target him well before attacking the others, and give them a flanking advantage.
He stops just short of stepping out from behind cover, he says a short prayer to Zanit and Aztartes. Let this battle please them. He draws a line behind him in the dust with his back hooves. He will not cross back over that line until he or this monster breathe their last, and with that he steps out from behind cover. He makes no attempts to be stealthy, but he's not making his presence known. He then prays. The words are lost at the distance, but even the party can hear a small rhythmic chant. If they are watching him, they can see a small greenish glow begin to engulf Dust, starting from the ground, through his hooves, and into his barrel. He's glowing pretty well now, it should be obvious to anything in the area. Dust then raises a hoof, and the glow moves from his barrel to his hoof.

Kira gulps, and takes two arrows. The creature is beyond the comfortable range of her bow, so she isn't planning on pulling any fancy tricks. Accuracy is prioritized over flash. Drawing her powerful bow string, she lets loose two arrows back-to-back aimed at the same giant abomination.

From a distance the net looks to be some kind of moss or bush on the side of the structure.
He opens the net just enough to extend a claw out and shoot dead center at the abomination, and then closes the opening to hide once more as he observes.

K, so sorry to keep bringing this up,... especially after what I said previously, but there's something I really need to emphasize; if Brie doesnt take FULL advantage of ALL his skills and abilities, he dies quickly. I would LIKE to make a case that because he would be trying to nonlethal the whathefuckevernamed ponies, he would have been fighting defensively, which puts his AC up to 21.
Trust me, I could go into stupid detail about the layers of options available and the contexts in which he would attempt/employ them, ESPECIALLY (sometimes) where self preservation is the goal
