The main part of the party in Mended Horn is wrapping up a matter at an Abandoned Whaling/Sealing station... somewhat. Virgin Flame has made her return and is celebrating with exercise and tea after recovering an important marble statue head and vanquishing several amoebas in the process.

I forgot about this one. Well, there's a cherry tree. Most of its leaves are off. The most obviously interesting object is a granite or cement statue of Princess Celestia. It's not very big, 18 inches standing up, and it stands on top of a 3 foot tall decorative ionic column. The most impressive thing about it is the wings, which are extended. The very end of the right... No, that's the left wing, it's facing you - the end of the left wing is chipped off, or the third feather is. There's a crack that runs across the chest from the bttom left (vir's left) to the upper right, but it doesn't seem to threaten it. The statue has a nice smile. There's more than this. There's a wheelbarrow with blue paint chipping off of it. Near it is a shovel propped against a wall. By that is a bed next to the wall where mud is being dug up. And besides all of that... Well, there's always details.

He was wearing a brown leather trench coat and had a black fedora. We didn't see his mane, and his coat was grey-brown. I would assume he was an anarchist, as they are the most fond of bomb tossing. And if it were an ELF bomb, it would have detonated."

A number of illegal activities had coalesced under a single organized group. The Social Democrats decided to negotiate with this one group, tolerating it, so long as its crimes remained mostly malum prohibitum rather than malum in se. This one organized criminal group, in tun, by keeping a strict monopoly on gambling, loan sharking, and exotic animal trafficking, likely kept these crimes at a lower level than if the city had to fend for itself. Certainly, the number of murders and kidnappings went down compared to before, and especially compared to Manehattan or Fillydelphia. We haven't had a Hearts and Hooves Day massacre here like happened in Bales, for example. Of course the gang in return gave services to the Unions and the Social Democrats, like disappearing ballots or threatening scabs.
What this means is that the Waterfront Gang had, more or less, abstained from our politics. As you've discovered, this isn't precisely true. At least some of their number have engaged in weapons trafficking, and this is intolerable. What they have not done is wholesale sided with the ELF or Popular Front, as the gangs have in Manehattan. But they only did that after the local government started on their crackdown."

The stories are honestly rather conflicting
Some say that there is - or rather, was - an entire civilization of sea creatures who took the form of sharks and other fish.
Some say that there is - or rather, was - an entire civilization of sea ponies whose existence is separate from the later Hippogriffs who, though magic means, would claim the title.
It isn't controversial that at least one of these existed, what is controversial is was it both, or was one confused for the other, and if so, which one? Were they actually in this form, or did they obtain it by magic, the same as the Hippogriffs? And then, the separate question of when it ceased to exist.
The stories of finding sea ponies in nets, of villages being wiped out in the dead of night after some transgression against the sea, or of remote tribal villages having pacts with creatures from the sea, are well known.
These particular kinds of tiaras, and other jewelry, are extraordinarily rare, being found only on accident by dredging, or especially, in the stomachs of dead leviathan whales.
Posey can understand that this particular piece was intended to be the head piece of a religious functionary - a priest, presumably the ritual priest. It has the symbols and signs of whatever culture made it, and the sea creature depicted is probably a fantastical representation of a more well-known creature, like a sea dragon. It is impossible to know how old it is.

It channels - neigh, it has accumulated - quite a lot of divine magic. Presumably it was designed to channel spirits or otherworldly magic to its user.

The magic will surely overwhelm the wearer, like a discharge of static electricity.
If Posey wishes to study it, she must spend a decent amount of time sitting in the corner, doing just that.
The stories are honestly rather conflicting
Some say that there is - or rather, was - an entire civilization of sea creatures who took the form of sharks and other fish.
Some say that there is - or rather, was - an entire civilization of sea ponies whose existence is separate from the later Hippogriffs who, though magic means, would claim the title.
It isn't controversial that at least one of these existed, what is controversial is was it both, or was one confused for the other, and if so, which one? Were they actually in this form, or did they obtain it by magic, the same as the Hippogriffs? And then, the separate question of when it ceased to exist.
The stories of finding sea ponies in nets, of villages being wiped out in the dead of night after some transgression against the sea, or of remote tribal villages having pacts with creatures from the sea, are well known.
These particular kinds of tiaras, and other jewelry, are extraordinarily rare, being found only on accident by dredging, or especially, in the stomachs of dead leviathan whales.
Posey can understand that this particular piece was intended to be the head piece of a religious functionary - a priest, presumably the ritual priest. It has the symbols and signs of whatever culture made it, and the sea creature depicted is probably a fantastical representation of a more well-known creature, like a sea dragon. It is impossible to know how old it is.
