If you want, I could help you build your character in the OOC thread.
For your character in particular, I would probably recommend doing Unarmed Swordsage 3, Monk 2, and then spec into Shadow Sun Ninja once you level up. You'd benefit from the Sun School feat as well, especially if combined with the Shadow Hand and Desert Wind's Teleporting Maneuvers. Shadow Sun Ninja may be very fitting for your character.
There's also the Sun Soul Monk PrC, if you'd prefer not to go Swordsage, but Shadow Sun Ninja is so good.
Dipping Fighter 2 (Pugilist) could help you with your BAB and help you qualify for feats earlier, especially if you trade armor for Hit-And-Run for Dex damage vs flat-footed targets.
Alternatively, consider multiclassing Monk and Cleric, and going for Sacred Fist.

Don't forget that you can pick up Combat Martial Art's through your starting occupation. D20 Modern has some good unarmed combat stuff.

>shapeshifter type of class?
Several.
There's also the Wild Monk ACF, which gives Wildshape to the monk:
https://srd.dndtools.org/srd/classes/baseCore/monk.html#wild-monk
It's basically Druid, only without the spells, plus martial arts.
You can use it to enter Master Of Many Forms:
https://dndtools.net/classes/master-of-many-forms/
Warshaper is good too. You can enter it if you have preexisting shapeshifting abilities.
https://srd.dndtools.org/srd/classes/prestigeCwar/warshaper.html
>drunken master
Drunken Master is its own prestige class:
https://dnd.arkalseif.info/classes/drunken-master/index.html
Not that powerful, but neither is the base Monk.

Shadow Sun Ninja is a personal favorite of mine. It may fit your theme, as the class involves maintaining the boundary between ones's inner instincts and one's virtues.

So instead is the a class that transitions into another or have different modes and are there any that's specifically about changing their martial art style?

I need to clarify that we're actually doing level 6 now. Before, it was level 5. Remember that at level 4 you gain +1 ability point to put somewhere.

Virgin, having now asserted her authority over the amoebas, checks the area near where she jumped in, which I presume is in the middle of the river from the bridge near the basilica. Virgin sees little twigs floating in the water, a riverbed that has some water plants and algae, a few fish swimming in the river, and a bucket (just a random bucket). She does not, however, sea the prize.

Roll swim to move around or go back to the surface.

Cavaliere and Posey are the first two to encounter them

The rear room of the forward cabin is small, with a bed and table folded up to each side, life buoys on the wall, and a couple buckets on the floor, besides an open door to the cockpit and a set of stairs on the right going down below deck. Here too, the floor is wooden, somewhat wet,

Near the center of the room stands a griffin with a dark red coat and darker red-brown feathers, as if the color of congealed blood and standing blood respectively. His yellow beak hooks down decisively, his blue eyes are pale as to seem almost milky, and his pointed pupils seem unnaturally reflective. He wears a deep scowl, and more than that, on top of his head is a a tiara, made of yellow-white metal with three peaks with some sort of sea monster depicted in the center, and beneath that, three cut jewels, presumably rubies by their dull, red hue. It does not fit his head, being two narrow, and instead is forcefully placed upon it, and standing too high in an almost comical scene. He wears a leather vest. In his right claw is a spear that barely fits under the roof, with a very long, barbed headed point.

Standing to his right is another griffin with a dulled yellow coat and younger appearance. He too, wears a vest. There is visible dried blood coming down from under his vest. His green eyes and closed beak convey a clear expression of fear. He has pulled out a very long knife, held close to his chest. The pale next to him has surely just been placed down.

The red griffin speaks:
“Hvem er du? Pirater her for å ta kronen min?”

From behind, and from below the deck, another two griffins - one white, and one black - seem ready to join in.

Hmmm, sounds like it would fit better on Posey's head.

Posey's first order of business is to charm the griffons with her gaze, starting with the one wearing the crown, which she presumes to be the leader.
>“Hvem er du? Pirater her for å ta kronen min?”
I just remembered from my sheet that Posey speaks griffon as one of her int bonus languages. What is he saying?

I’m not certain Brie would be aware of this. He’s flying above and away from the action. This happens in a small, closed room in the fishing boat. There have been no loud sounds this far that would indicate a problem.

The party was openly talking about blowing the ship up, before heading toward the cabin. This alone would have warranted him closing, if for no other reason than to dissuade them from doing so.

There are a lot of languages in the setting and although Abyssal and Infernal might be useful for Posey, you are bound to find characters who speak a different language compared to your own, like here. Think of how the real world was before English became the universal language.

Wait, I have a question. Isn't it a Feathesian ship that is crashed somewhere on the island? Cavaliere's knowledge of Feathesian may prove useful.

Brie was left behind on the cliff above the landing point. He might have followed Cavaliere, who went up there himself and followed the rest of the party to the hamlet. If Brie is at his original position he could not have heard the others, even with his bat hearing.

>>180557
I'm not sure. I think he was also in the hamlet?

No, I have been in communication with GM, and Brie was 80' above the party as they boarded the freighter, before closing in on them to dissuade blowing up the thing (yet), which with a reasonable passage of time would have him getting to the cabin just after Posey and Cavaliere entered, enabling him to try and sneak in undetected.

Whether the griffons are mind-controlled or not, we would prefer a non-lethal takedown. It wouldn't be hard to kill them without damage to ourselves, but the good-aligned PCs in the party wouldn't approve of that. Not to mention, a gunshot could be heard by hostiles on the island, and a grenade is much louder than a gunshot.

I don't even know what language they're speaking or the EaW country they're from.

Presumably, Silver, Kira, and Dust are standing on the deck.

>>180542
It isn’t blatantly obvious how to slip around into the cabin, with only one clearly visible entrance, which is the one Posey and Cavaliere are standing in.

>>180540
It probably would fit Posey better, but it isn’t quite pony shaped either.

Posey recognizes “Pirate” and “you,” but it’s clearly a different language from what she knows.

Sørvik visibly winces, looks down and closes his eyes

Cavaliere, like Posey, recognizes a couple words "Pirate" and "You," but does not know the language.

Both the red griffin and the yellow griffin recoil in some degree of shock when they hear the names "Sørvik" and "Nils."

The Yellow griffin manages a smile to Posey.

The red one, however, looks back up to Posey, and brandishes his harpoon.

"Hvorfor retter du den tingen mot meg? Hva gjør du på skipet mitt? Og hvordan vet du hva jeg heter?"

Nevermind, Feathesian is more Dutch.

Cavaliere places himself in front of Posey, shielding her from a potential attack.

He replies, slowly and carefully, "You have been missing for a long time. We are here to help. Your ship is not seaworthy, and you look hurt."

The fellow griffon also tries out the languages he knows. "Spreekt u Feathesiaans? Parlez-vous Aquiléen? Forse sai parlare Wingbardiano?"

It's not an especially big room, maybe 15 feet wide. There are objects in the room, like a table by the wall, but besides the door on the opposing side going to the cockpit, or the stairs going down - both of which have griffins in or near them - there's really not much.

Posey, being a veteran of the Arcturian front, knows multiple words for warrior/knight/soldier in whatever griffon language they speak there. Maybe one of those words sounds similar."
"Pony soldiers. Have you seen them? Where." she says, in North griffonian
