>>178149>gnoll loreCan I have permission to make a Cleric statblock for the reanimated ghoul Agire? I would like to have him as one of Posey's six NPC contacts (aka friends) that she could approach for services (as Posey would be hesitant to approach priests of any other temple), and to that end I would like him to have statistics.
I was thinking between lvls 3-8 (I'm estimating around lvl 6, based on monster manual Gnoll Organization tables, which says a leader should be lvl 6-8), but just let me know the appropriate level. Gravetouched Ghoul with either the temporary or permanent version of the Yeenoghu-blooded template. Domains would be Demonic and Hunger (having been raised to undeath by the King of Ghouls and Gnolls). If lvl 6 he'd have the Bane Of Infidels prestige class. Feats would be Sacrificial Mastery and Sacrificial Divination, and maybe Leadership to qualify for Bane Of Infidels (unless prereq stricken, because NPC). General Build is based on Sacrifice because it represents his character development having been reborn from sacrifice. Regional background would be Gnoll. Starting Occupation would be Religious. All his skillpoints would be in Religion (Gnoll ghoul means very low int), unless Cloistered Cleric (he seemed like more of the scholarly type than the fighting type, but idk if Gnoll priests would ever be cloistered). Armor would be Lamellar, because he's middle Eastern coded.
I just really like making statblocks, and other players were making secondary characters, so I was just wondering.
>Spotted vs Striped hyenasI take it that means Kaftars are monster manual Gnolls, and Crocuttas are Flinds (the larger, fiercer variety of Gnoll that is like a hobgoblin to a goblin)? Or are Crocuttas Leucrottas? (The quadrupedal magical beast created alongside Gnolls)?
>>178150The Gnoll is an NPC, presumably one of Silver's followers or NPC-contacts.
>>178149>Equestria at War changed Hyenia to “Qualidi Dervishes,” which are a permutation of diamond dog and ironically closer to D&D gnollsThis might have been influenced by David Silver's Ponyfinder calling diamond dogs in his setting "Gem Gnolls". David Silver is surprisingly influential in things like this, even though Everglow's world-building is utter shit.
>>178152The gnoll is named Mala, he's a good boy and he's Silver's cohort
>>178155How many cohorts do you have? What level is Silver?
>>178156Silver is level 6, and Mala is his first and so far only cohort
>>178157Oh. Alright. I thought was Kira was a cohort.
>>178158Kira is a strong independent Noodle
The gnoll stands up and raises his head. He moves his eyes across the room.
“Um… I’m… Mala Mata… I haven’t done anything like this before…” he looks around and stands in awkward silence for four seconds. Then he sits back down.

He’s an apprentice, not a full blown lead priest.

(The quadrupedal magical beast created alongside Gnolls)? If I don’t have to make stat blocks for NPCs, I don’t make stat blocks for NPCs. Posey did not chose to be hostile to any of the gnoll communities
despite that being the intent, so they weren’t given stats. However I generally use player stats for normalish enemies and allies.
>>178160Silver goes over to his gnoll friend, and gives him some pets on top of the head.
Silver: "It is okay, my friend. Tell us about some of your strengths. Like, well, your strength. You are as strong as I am, at least."
>>178159I have secondary characters on back burner (one Nightstalker, one Shadowbane Inquisitor/Blackguard/Bone Knight, one Binder / Ur Priest / Tenebrous Apostate; Nightstalker's Subsidiaries would be a Siren, a Master Of The Unseen Hand, and a Lurking Terror / Assassin; one undecided dragon), but I was waiting for Posey to reach appropriate level get Leadership + Undead Leadership + Mentor + Guildmaster + Dragon Cohort and have cohorts/followers.
>>178160>When Agire was first introduced into the campaign as an enemy to be fought and killed by the party alongside three other NPCs, he was probably level 4. He’s an apprentice, not a full blown lead priest.Thank you.
Mala closes his eyes and smiles as his ears are moved side to side. He stands and speaks again,
“I can fight. I don’t want to say how I know, but uh, I can use a gun, I can use a sword, and I can tackle and bite. Silver here brought me along, and I have fought alongside Silver before. I dint know anything about airships or islands, but uh… I can also move things and pick things up, if that helps. I’m pretty strong.”
He sits back down
>>178163As like a cohort, or…?
>>178164Silver gives his gnoll friend some more pets.
Silver: "Good job. I should also say that he was part of group that helped clear Hoebuck. He can very much handle himself in fight, and he is very good friend to have."
Kira, meanwhile - who up to now has been silently contemplating the mission and the island - slithers up to Free Rover, tapping her hooves together.
Kira: "So, um...did you really mean that about me being beautiful?"

[1d20+2 = (17+2) = 19] check to notice Brie genuinely smile at this one
>>178165Sorry, Free Rover?
Sorry, but Im gonna need a quick rundown on how many ponies/etc are actually here.
I have 5 characters and one cohort. Who else?
>>178167Free Rover isn't part of the group, he's just one of the Customs ponies in the room at the moment. It seems as though him and Kira do have at least a bit of history, even if it's only recent history.
>>178168Ah, sorry for missing that detail
>>178165Mala smiles, and lowers his head to accept more pets. Then he tilts his head into the pets.
Free Rover comes up, places a hoof on Kira’s mane, and pets her.
“You’re a gorgeous creature. I like snakes, and I like mares, and, well, you’re a rather exotic specimen. Like none I’ve ever seen. But I’d bet that even back home, you’d stand out. I wish I could keep one like you.”
>>178167He’s the sexist customs officer that it was “based” for Posey to walk past. He’s the one that lead all of the party members to the room. He’s an NPC from Kira’s story and is present in the room, but will not be going with the party, unlike Mala.
>>178170Oh, that makes sense. The middle "officer" who might suffer later for wasting Brie's time. I have his name wrotten down in the "for later" items
>>178170Kira smiles as she receives the pets. The very end of her tail taps against the ground.
Kira: "So, um...after this mission is over, would you like...to...um..." She taps her hooves together some more, and blushes deeply. "...go on a...date?"
[1d20+2 = (3+2) = 5] Bluff
(When I do this, players can contest with their spot check to notoce)
(Its fine if u dont wanna/care, Im just inviting characters to use skills to glean subtext)
Sorry, this is a rant:
One of the biggest issues with non-vidya rpgs is the inability to interface. By that, I mean the GM is the only interface.
I think thats horseshit.
I think players should responsibly commit to being an interface, in a manner of speaking. Calling out possible checks and things, knowing what the character is doing and keeping it open to other players
So to this end, I apologize if its annoying at times, any time Brie rolls a skill - even a minimal story/context one (like not betraying you know something) Ill do a bluff/whatever check
>>178171He’s had entirely zero interactions with Brie. He didn’t even lead Brie to the room.
>>178172He moves his hoof to scritch Kira’s ears, and then places it on her chin.
Then his eyes go wide and he breathes in, phtieudskky moving back an inch.
“Date?!” After a moment’s pause, he eases up and smiles. “Oh, just like a meeting to talk. Maybe see how you’re adjusting, and how well you’ve failed.. Looks like you’ve already eaten, so maybe not a dinner or lunch.”
>>178173What is the bluff for?
>>178177Im super confused now
>bluffPass the check and ill tell u (unless ur GM with ur crazy everywhere shit)
>>178150>ZiggerI resent this statement u fukwad
>>178179You have Zeeb in the name
>>178173[1d20+3 = (17+3) = 20]>>178174>inviting characters to use skillsRosey Ring makes eye contact with the bat to charm him with her gaze.
Roll a Will save (DC 19)
>>178181Unfortunately, in this case the bluff check was precipitated on the idea that Kira was talking to the same middle-officer that Brie was, which has been sussed to be inaccurate.
If it HAD been, Broe's expression would have expressed amused pity, cuz he was contemplating killing that pony later.
>>178177Kira blinks, then blinks again. She continues to blush, as she looks away from Rover. She sounds just the slightest bit disappointed.
Kira: "Uh...sure, let's...let's go with that..."
>>178180>:(It's mean to zeebs to associate them with irl pavement apes
Let me rephrase
Are we rolling initiative?
>>178188So we're rolling initiative?
>>178187No. This is a surprise round :p
>>178189There's also no way for you to detect it :p
>>178190Youre about to make this go badly. I will wait on gm
In the interim, there is a case yo be made that posey could pull whatever theyre trying to do.
But that has consequences, and GM doesnt want to deal with what would happen whether this attempt succeded and eventually lapsed OR it failed outright
Reiterating
Are we rolling initiative now, or later?
>>178184He rubs her cheeks and then her neck.
“Oh, well we can go out for lunch anyways. Especially when you need to eat again in, what? Two weeks? A month. That’s a big goat you got there. Must be a quarter your size. I’m not surprised though you needed to eat after that long journey. Are you moving well? Do you feel up to moving about?”
>>178185I was thinking about having Shoal Water say “Oh come on! I didn’t even call you a racial slur!” When Defiant Dust was starting to leave.
>>178187She’s using a charm supernatural ability on Brie to improve his disposition towards her.
>>178190Sense Motive would do it
>>178191>>178192Shoal Water:
“Hey! You can’t fight in here! This is the War Room!”
But seriously, discharging a firearm in a government building is haram, and drawing knives in the presence of an officer is frowned upon.
>>178192>But that has consequencesNot really, unless someone other than you makes a DC 25 sense motive check to sense that you have been enchantment.
>>178194Posey uses this ability a lot, on most NPCs she's trying to influence, so unless otherwise let's assume she's taking 10 on Bluff for a modified 24.
>>178194Please, Brie is observably unarmed
>charm supernatural abilityI hope this is a canon ability, and I hope y'all will pardon I dont know what you can 'do' (but also know the 'overall'history, so without knowing who is who, unless previously Im gonna need a citation/explanation, if only so I know Im rolling right)
