Okay, so everycreature except Garv is in the room
>>177986"Get
everything you need for fighting, pack an overnight bag, and come to the headquarters of Revenue and Migration Services. It's four blocks to the east and three to the north from here." He answers
>>177985He leans back, looks down, then back up
"Hi, I'm uh, Mala Mata..."
>>177988"Let them know they can expect me in half an hour from now." Despite saying this, he does not budge until the stallion leaves.
>>177987Silver: "That is very good to know. I had been wondering about Kerr and Wesley. I actually miss them bit."
>>177988Kira: "I'm Kubana Kirafiki, but you can call me Kira. It's great to meet you, Mala! Are you Silver's friend? I've noticed you like following him especially."
>>177989The stallion nods to him, and then leaves
Garv does have time to finish reading the paper, finish eating and leave.
But he
does need to get to customs
>>177990"Yes, he is a fighter who uh, well he took me in. He says I can fight alongside him." He answers
>>177988>Okay, so everycreature except Garv is in the room"To begin." Rossy Ring begins, announcing her presence
"I would like to discuss the terms of the job, as well as compensation."
>>177990He tilts his head slightly
"I'm a bit surprised Silver, most ponies are shall we say, less than compassionate with changelings."
He looks around briefly to see if he is gonna have to kill anypony for hearing what he's saying, before shrugging.
>>177991Kira: "He seems like a nice pony." Kira tilts her head at Mala. "You know, you don't have to be afraid of me. I don't know if you know anything about lamias, but I'm actually genuinely quite friendly."
>>177993Silver: "I suppose I am different from most ponies. It is even more odd since it is war veteran saying this."
It should be noted, there's something different about Silver from what Brie sees of him. Does he look a bit...younger?
>>177994Does he? I think I skimmed somethig about antiaging, but didnt follow up cuz I was lookin for somethig else
>>177991He returns to his room and changes into his outfit from last night. Out of his larger suitcase he retrieves a backpack and bedroll, and into the former he also packs a knife, canteen, hip flask, map case, flint and steel, grappling hook, a pair of handcuffs, a small steel mirror, trail rations, and rope. Most importantly, he puts his gunbelt and revolver into the backpack as well.
Cavaliere returns downstairs and hails a cab to the headquarters of revenue and migration services.
>>177994"You look simply marvelous! Are you using some sort of pelt smoothing cream?"
>>177992Brie isnt ignoring her, hes just not sure yet (and Im not sure what she looks like)
>>177995>>177997Silver: "Sort of. I found and ate mystical fruit with age-regressing properties. I have not felt this good in many years."
>>177992Posey catches the attention of a blue pegasus stallion. He walks up to Posey, and without introducing himself says
"I'll give more detail once the officers have left the room and everypony... everyone is listening, but the essence is this:
One of our scout blimps is down in disputed territory. I will not allow my airstallions nor our equipment to fall into the hooves of a hostile nation, I can't send our marines, and I don't trust anypony locally to do it quietly. There are ten of our ponies who are likely still alive and in need of rescue, and two systems that need torching. A thousand bits for each airpony, and three thousand for each torched system. How you all share that is not up to me. The terms are that what belongs to the Navy belongs to the Navy with a finders fee of course, you bring our colts back alive, and that the Navy was never there. That's the essence of it."
>>177993Yes. Not everypony is nice to changelings
>>177996The cab takes him up to the entrance. As he passes, he sees a brown, female minotaur leaning against a street lamp. She is wearing sunglasses, and is in the process of pulling a cigarette out. She looks over to Garv, and he gets a glimpse of her eyes peaking out from under the sunglasses. She nods to him
Going inside, a nice blue pegasus pony calls out another pony, who takes him up to the room upstairs.
poofGarv is now in the room with everycreature else. Logically he would have been the first or maybe second to arrive.
>>177998>Brie isnt ignoring herShe wasn't talking to him.
>not sure what she looks like>Rosey Ring appears as a youthful mare with soft and elegant features. Her coat is snow white, and exceptionally fluffy. Her mane is red-pink, and is fine and silky, almost glowing. Her body is slender and dainty, with generous feminine endowments. She has a calm and professional demeanor. Her face is as stern and stoic as it is beautiful.>Her eyes are like pools of gold, with radial concentric rings. They glow with authority and give a mesmerizing aura that demands submission. Staring into them too long gives feelings of uncanny unease and dread.Right now, she is dressed for war, having donned a chain shirt barding with spiked bracers. She looks like something from another era, equipped with a sword, a longbow, and a polearm crackling with electricity. Her mane is done up in a war bun.
>>178000Kira raises a hoof in the air, and asks a question. "What's the hostile nation?"
>>178003Hes affable, he wouldnt ordinarily permit a person to go so unaddressed
>>178004He looks over to her and answers
"Stalliongrad."
>>178000A discreet but effective watch, it seems.
Cavaliere introduces himself first to the officer in the room, and then to the various other invitees. He is a wiry griffon with dusty gray feathers and a black crest, as well as a thin black mustache over his weathered beak. His clothes, all black, look well-made but designed for frontier work outside of urban centers.
"Name is Cavaliere. I came in yesterday for work, but the urgency I was given makes me believe that this is a separate mission." >>178007Silver: "Ох, боже..."
Kira: "Mmhmm, mmhmm, okay. And...who are they?"
>>178000Rosey Ring's expression changes slightly as she realizes that this adventure requires travel.
"How many days would you expect this operation to take?"
Oh, and just because I can, she attempts to charm the stallion as soon as he makes eye contact.
DC 19 Will
>>178008The stallion nods
"I don't know what you were told yesterday, but I assure you, it is. The blimp crashed this morning."
>>178009"Do you know what a communist is?" He asks Kira
To Silver:
"Are you an Emigre?"
>>178010He smiles
"There will be a more detailed briefing in a few minutes. But the short answer is: we have equipment on our aircraft that is, or at least, may be, more technologically advanced than what is possessed by the forces of International Communism. We cannot allow them to get their hooves on that technology. And to that end, we will pay to have it destroyed."
>>178011"There's a mail plane waiting to take you all to Manehattan, then to Trottigham, where a seaplane will take you to the island where the airship has crashed at. It better be done quick. I expect you'll be home by tomorrow. At least, I hope you'll be home by tomorrow. We'll provide accommodations in Trottingham if necessary."
>>178012Kira shakes her head.
Silver: "They believe that all ownership should be held by collectives rather than by individuals. That is basic gist of it, now is not really time to get into political discussions." Addressing the Navy stallion, Silver answer, "I was born in St. Petershoof, back when it was part of Equestria. I am just as much Equestrian citizen as next one, and it still hurts me seeing what communists have done to my birthplace."
So, we've got a reward of up to 10k, split between all of us. There are 6 members in this party. That would only be 1,666 for each party member. Hmmmm.
>>178012Does he seem affected by the charm? Because if he is I would like to make some opposed Charisma checks to haggle.
"I specialize in cadaver recovery, but there is no guarantee that they will be alive when we get there, let alone all of them. It would be proper to afford a partial reward for deceased airmen, or to raise the reward for each of them to account for those factors. What about... twelve hundred bits per alive airman, and five hundred for the bodies of the deceased?" She pushes
Diplomacy (opposed Cha comes check later, if I need to use the Charm)
[1d20+10 = (19+10) = 29]>>178017More, if we jack/fence the tech, spoilers
>>178017Torching the system is the easy part. Bringing men back alive isn't so simple.
Also, I got a good diplomacy roll. Shush.
ill say it in character before long
>>178013"I assure you, rescuing is
all I am concerned about. If there is no healer among you, I can find one."
>>178014"
sigh... It's the radar and the engines. As I said, there will be a more detailed briefing"
Once I can conclude Amber's dream sequence>>178015"Pray you never have to. They are an insidious cancer that destroys nations, culture, traditions, and faith wherever they go with violence, and they are intent on metastasizing everywhere."
>>178016And Silver's cohort gets a half share"Very well. twelve hundred alive, five hundred dead if you can recover the body. Plus the fee for torching, plus a percentage of the value of whatever equipment you can recover, and anything that doesn't belong to the Navy or its Airmen that you can find, you can keep."
>>178022Silver: "I am no doctor, but I do have some some experience with treating battlefield wounds in field. Some medical supplies for this expedition would be appreciated: bandages, plasma, maybe even healing potions if they can be spared."
>>177940This is truly mysterious writing, but even Amber's untrained eye can determine that it's of different ages and probably different authors. Three guesses as to who the last author is….
She whispers to her father,
"Papa, what are they doing? Or, what aren't they doing? They're just standing there." I'm going to have to sleep soon.
>cohortOh, so that's what he is. I should have guessed he's be high enough level to have a cohort. I would like to get there myself soon, perhaps even after this mission if it's intense enough.
>"Very well. twelve hundred alive, five hundred dead if you can recover the body. Plus the fee for torching, plus a percentage of the value of whatever equipment you can recover, and anything that doesn't belong to the Navy or its Airmen that you can find, you can keep."Rosey Ring seems satisfied.
>>178025"Explosive charges would increase the chance of success as well. They're difficult to buy on the fly around here."
>>178022>>178025The griffon addresses the unicorn, who looks to be about the same age.
"While that's helpful, we don't know in what state the survivors are. Considering the expense for this operation, and its urgency, we should have along nothing short of an expert physician." >>178027"KS-19" He answers
>>178026"Shhh" he places a hoof over towards Amber, but does not turn to her, and does not manage to actually touch her with it, if that was his intent
"They are, they are, they are... Talking?"
>>178028"We can make it even better. Four thousand for each torched system, and we'll pay the torch value even if it is recovered in full."
>>178025He nods
"Is it enough?"
>>178032Lol, try and interpret what that face meant
>>178031Amber listens carefully to try to make out what the odd ponies are saying.
[1d20+3 = (19+3) = 22] >>178032(I used the wrong mod, it was only a +2, so 21)
The zeeb is simply sitting in the corner, looking off in to space. To the others he may look spaced out and not paying attention, but anyone within very close proximity can hear him very softly reciting words to himself.
>>178031Silver: "You never know if it is enough until it is time. This fine griffon believes we need proper surgeon. At very least, having medical supplies would greatly increase success chance of this mission. Surgical kits would also be appreciated, bullets are not easy to remove with normal first aid."
Kira raises her hoof again.
Kira: "What's the terrain of the location like?"
