Welcome back to the Latest Thread of Occupied Equestria
Onyx, Spark and Brie settle down for the night in a cabin in the woods along with a set of recently rescued ponies, saved from Changeling cocoons, as well as the changelings who sought to take them captive, who are themselves locked away as captives.
In Baltimare, Silver, Dark Star, Iron, and now Midnight Lily do their last preparations before seeking to take on a creature smuggling operation in a port-side neighborhood

>>114681He nods. "It should lead us right into heart of their operation."
>>114682"What if we get trapped in there with them?"
>>114683"Then I will do everything in my power to get all of you out of there. I am not certain if we will be able to open it later, but if it makes you feel better about our odds, we could try this one we are at now to meet back up with others and tackle that entrance together."
>>114679He opens the door. It’s cold outside. Really cold outside. A light breeze makes it a little more so. A small cover extends from the roof of the cabin covering the closest part in shadows. A large dog, or some animal springs from the shadow next to the porch away from the cabin, and over the snow, which glows lightly in the moonlight.
>>114685Spark shivers. This is going to be fun. He remembers the fire and heads over to it.
>>114687"You take point on this one. i'll watch our backs."
>>114689>>114685And thus, Silver takes point as they head towards the entrance the boat travelled into.
>>114689>>114686This will take a while for them to leave their position. A griffin looks out into the ocean, scanning the dimly lit horizon
>>114688That’s a very long distance away. Hopefully there are no dangerous creatures lurking in the night. It’s a ways around the cabin, to the barn, around the barn, then to the side of the shed where there last fire was left
>>114691Spark keeps a look out for any creatures in the snow. He trudges on through the snow slowly towards his destination.
>>114691>>114690"Think we can take that one down silently?"
>>114693"If we take him together. Think you can sneak around to other side of him, so we can flank him?"
>>114692The little pot is still propped up there. The fire has since gone out, and ice has formed over the water inside
>>114693>>114694There are still several creatures out, so it’s not as simple as taking one out
>>114695"Let's wait until it just him."
>>114695"Damn."
Spark wishes the changelings surrendered before he spent all of his fire spells. He figures that the family had some means of lighting the fire in such conditions though, so he looks around if they had a way to start the fire, hopefully better than some flint.
>>114697>>114696The two creatures along the side pull the boat along as one watches the water, and another one sits inside the boat. It seems that whatever frightens them, it comes from the water. That, and from the boat itself. The boat is positioned to be dragged into the tunnel, and the creatures get into the water, and start to pull the boat in into the tunnel. The last one remains carefully watching the water, then goes to place the bars back into the tunnel
>>114698It’s s good thing there is already water in the cabin and a fire in the cabin
>>114699>>114696Silver looks to Dark Star. "Ready?"
[1d20+5 = 17]>>114700"Yep."
Dark Star attempts to sneak around to the otherside of the reature.
[1d20+4 = 5]>>114699>>114701Move Silently: Silver attempts to sneak closer to the lone griffon.
>>114702Closer. Closer. More closelier.... Silver walls to the edge of the sea wall. But in the process, he misplaced a hoof, which falls over, causing him to fall over down to the lower level, hit the walkway, and his rear falls into the water
>>114701Relative to Silver, this is a success
[1d20+4 = 14]>>114705Hide: SHIT! Silver attempts to ignore his injury to hide from the griffon.
[1d20+5 = 22]>>114705Dark Star shoots at the griffion with his bow
>>114706He can dive under the water, but there is no hiding the fact that he fell in
The water is slightly warmer than the air, but still fucking cold. Really ducking cold. There is some mud at the bottom, but also rock and unidentifiable debris
>>114707Hit
>>1147091d6+5? Shouldn’t it be 2d6+2 because of the merciful short bow plus the ranger’s favored enemy? (I guess that averages out to around a 1d6+5)
>>114708Could he climb out and charge the griffon?
>>114711Like he’s the ducking creature of blue lagoon? Maybe, he’d need some actions first to get out of the cold water and onto the walkway
>>114709>>114711Where’s an Assassin rogue when you need one...
>>114710When i added that to my sheet the info didnt save, so i just used the base shortbow dmg
>>114712Climb: Трахни это. Silver attempts to climb out of the water and onto the walkway.
I know, right?>>114713You're using a sheet? I'm just using a notepad file. >>114713From above and behind, Dark Star lets loose an arrow into the griffin’s back while he is distracted looking at whatever just fell into the water, right into that spot Dark Star knows the wing muscles connect to the bone. The arrow hits him and his wings fly out with a light ‘tssch’ sound and a tiny puff of pink magic. But he’s not out yet
>>114714And so Silver pulls himself the hell out of the water, into the walkway
>>114713>>114714You write stuff down?I was going to keep blue skies around as support if the players needed something, and let her be directed around. I was definitely not going to make her take initiative. But then she just gets left behind every time you change positions because you never bother to find her and bring her......... [1d20+6 = 26]>>114717Silver charges the griffon using the pommel of his greatsword for a nonlethal strike.
Well, yeah. No way in hell I'm going to remember every bit of information, piece of equipment, or game mechanic. I have a hard enough time remembering things in real life.I think it's because we approach her as more of a PC than an NPC, so we sometimes expect her to take a little bit of initiative. [4d6+3 = 13]>>114719I...honestly forget if the x2 means I roll 4d6 or 3d6 for critical hits with greatswords. I'm rolling 4d6, but I'll reroll if it's 3d6 instead.
This place is a desert.
Is this the Zebhara Desert?
>>114726Blue Skies is now immortal, this is law.
>>114727At least it'll bolsters her resolve to be the very best.
That no one ever was >>114731Hi.
What I mean is the whole Skies getting flirted on/flirting the griffon scenario, where I assumed Star, by acting like he clearly got to her first with that foreleg wraparound, would snap her out of the situation and follow them along.
What really happened for them to leave Skies when I clearly remembered them meeting Skies with another griffon trying to get under her tail and Star does a countermeasure to shoo the male griffon away?
