It's a section of brick wall that obviously once held a doorway to a different section of the underground. Now, it has a brown-tan brick (as opposed to the red-brown of the walls), some of which are partly cut to make them fit in the walled-arch doorway

If Iron and Midnight had been in this room back in the ‘40s - when 33 Hoebuck was the Baltimare Mare’s Asylum, a church-run minimum security prison and labor camp for prostitutes, petty criminals, and poor mares with foals born out of wedlock that masqueraded as a place of help - then that archway would have opened into some portion of the structure’s lower levels. But the city walled it away when the interior size of the structures were reduced for the new poor house.
