Welcome back to the Latest Thread of Occupied Equestria

Onyx, Spark and Brie settle down for the night in a cabin in the woods along with a set of recently rescued ponies, saved from Changeling cocoons, as well as the changelings who sought to take them captive, who are themselves locked away as captives.

In Baltimare, Silver, Dark Star, Iron, and now Midnight Lily do their last preparations before seeking to take on a creature smuggling operation in a port-side neighborhood

Or... that, too! That sounds like a good idea.

Iron decides that booping an unconscious gryphon's snout should stabilize the hen in question, changing the target to the red gryphon.

Silver lets out a sigh. "When I was foal, my father owned blacksmith shop, fixing up tools and like, and I was his apprentice. When I was not at school, I often helped him in his work, brought tools and materials he asked for, or even made new tools all on my own. It was...nice. Simple. Hard work, yes, but it helped to instill good values in me at that young age. And besides...it was just simpler time back then. You did not have political strife, wars and invasions. Ponies and others could call each other neighbors and friends without fear, suspicion, or hatred. Seeing world as it is now, it can make you long for those times. We've lost so much since then, and gained so little..."

“There are many who yearn for older, simpler times. There is much wisdom they have offer us that is lost to this era. I tell you, hatred, fear, and suspicion may yet be banished from the hearts of at least individual creatures. You just won’t be able to do it with... well, shall we say, ‘contempary’ societal structure.”

Summon lesser demon is a 5th edition spell. I suspect that you have been looking at 5th edition rule books, hence why you asked about a warlock (warlock is one of the main classes in 5e). We’ve been using 3.5 edition. There is no “summon lesser demon” in 3.5, though clerics and druids have access to spells like “summon monster” which allow the spell caster to summon extra planar creatures, which is pretty similar

Warning: Blog Post below
So I jumped on a trial in another court and did some preparation for that this weekend. Then this morning I found out that they were moving around attorneys. When I was first hired I was placed in a court where the Judge there would refuse to go to trial, even calling in sick, or have the court reporter there call in sick, on days a trial was set, and the same thing with motions to surpress. So it was super boring, and I often didn't have any work to do. I wanted to get out of that court. So today I found out that I am now moving to the court that I am doing this trial in, because the lead attorney there is being promoted to felony. And the trial itself is actually going (as opposed to the defendant not showing up or there being a reset, which is more common than an actual trial), and now I feel like I am actually doing lawyer work. I got to do opening statements to the jury which was very fun, and I also direct examined the victim (and impeached her after she recanted her testimony on cross). It's an Assault Family Violence case, which are basically impossible to win in this area because domestic violence is socially accepted in the Hispanic culture of this region. Really though, that just means there's no pressure to win. Anyways, I feel really good about how I did

I know, right? It goes to show how super slow my court is. I did do a jury trial back in early June... That one went weird, and I had a motion to surprise in June, and both of these occurred with me filling in for attorneys in courts I was not assigned to. Then we had a six week summer break where most courts were not in session, and I was scheduled for a trial in my court with a visiting judge which was reset, and then on a felony in a felony court, which was reset and then plead out. And then we had Labor Day weekend which prevented any activity. I am hoping the pace has finally picked up. Until now, almost the only things I’ve had going in have been plea agreements and doing hearings for commitments to a mental health hospital in a civil court

Yeah, it is. The main reason I decided to take this job, aside from the fact that it was the first to give me an offer and my parents wanted me to get a salary, was because I was told that the US Attorneys (Federal prosecutors) like to hire people who have worked as ADAs in the border areas, because they know you’ll be willing to live out in bullshit Mexican areas of hired by a border office. Also I didn’t realize the metropolis kind of near my hometown didn’t post its opening online, so I applied to them very late and didn’t get an interview until I had already taken this job.
American prosecutors actually don’t go to trial nearly as often as they did 20 years ago. I think the average is something like 8 a year, so 2 in a little over three months isn’t that far off from average if it can be sustained

For her sake I won't get into the specifics. She had a serious issue that finally flaired up to an untenable point about a month ago and she had to go into surgery. As usual, like every other time any of us have been to a doctor, they fucked up big time, and now Mom's trying to recover from their incompetance. Right now she's at the point where her pain is within her absurdly high pain tolerance, but it'll be a few more weeks before things return to normal.

The pat is really not good for a job that requires a professional degree, but I get health insurance, the cost of living here is third world low, I don’t have any student loans except a tiny amount from college, and my parents still pay my car payments, car insurance, and phone. I actually found I had a large amount of cash on hand when I went to Bronycon last month.

“If you want a full critique of the modern world, well... look outside, for instance, or listen to certain political activists. But the diseases of the model era are not ubiquitous... You’ll find they are absent from many the older, more tribal societies. They have a way of living with each other, with nature, and with that beyond nature that is Harmon’s in ways most ponies have forgotten”
