That's right random anon who happens to read this post, it's /vx/'s third DnD campaign!

>What's this one about?
Chaos Ascending is an epic level campaign for DnD 3.5e. It takes place roughly 10,000 years before Celestia and Luna assume rule over Equestria. Technology is at a medieval level plus magic of course.
Equus during this era was a land of peace, the ponies and few other creatures inhabiting Equus living in harmony. The gods of this realm, know to the ponies only as The Unknown Ones, decided that nothing would disturb their harmony and moved on; only granting their power to the most dedicated of ponies. Soon, the ponies' society expanded across the planes. A Utopia was built on its own plane, serving as a hub of travel, politics, and trade. Ponies lived in happiness, nothing to disturb them. It was a land of peace and harmony, but rumors existed. Rumors that there were ponies who thought that harmony was worthless. Ponies who wished to disturb the order of the planes. Ponies who wished to ascend the agenda of...
Chaos...

>How long will it last?
Until I can progress through the entire story, which should take at the most three months of weekend play and about two months at the least, or until Atlas personally smites me. Whichever comes first.

>When does it start?
This is an advance notice so players have time to build characters, ask questions, and seek GM approval. The campaign will start in 2-3 weeks.

>When will we play?
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. And then only if all players are available.

Here are the guidelines for building a character:
Level: 25
Sources for classes, feats, spells, etc.: Any as long as they are approved. No breaking my game
Wealth: 35,000,000 GP
Stats: Point buy with 34 points at your disposal. Buy your stats then apply racial stats. Here's the calculator I use: http://www.propelled.de/extern/chargen
Races:
Evil characters are not explicitly banned, but chaotic and neutral evil are HEAVILY discouraged against.

Earth Ponies:
+2 Str +2 Con
One maxed out skill related to cutie mark.
Earth Ponies receive Toughness as a bonus feat.
Earth Ponies can hold a two-handed weapon with their maw. Light weapons can be held with hooves.

Pegasi:
+2 Dex -2 Con
One maxed out skill related to cutie mark
Glide: A pegasus of any level can glide when falling at a speed of 40ft, negating all fall damage. This ability takes affect even when unconscious, though the user takes 1d6 falling damage.
Flight: A pegasus can use their wings for flight with a speed of 40ft (good maneuverability) beginning at lvl 5.
Pegasi can use two-handed weapons by holding it with their maw and using a wing to help maneuver the weapon, sacrificing flight. Light weapons can also be held with a wing, sacrificing flight.

Unicorns:
+2 Int -2 Str
One maxed out skill related to cutie mark
Unicorns receive Eschew Materials as a bonus feat.
Unicorns have two "handslots" using the magic of their horn, these extend to 10ft of reach. Two-handed weapons can be used with a unicorn's maw and a handslot or both handslots, either way rendering them unable to focus their magic on other tasks. Light weapons can be held in each handslot.

Crystal Ponies:
+2 Con -2 Dex
One maxed out skill related to cutie mark
Crystal Composition: Crystal ponies can turn their bodies crystalline, invoking different sets of bonuses and penalties. In this form they receive a +3 bonus to AC, and +3 to fortitude saves. As a tradeoff they take a -2 penalty to the following checks: Reflex, Swim, Tumble, Hide, Move Silently. This ability can only be activated 1/day.
Crystal Ponies use two-handed weapons by employing their maw and one hoof to control the weapon. This reduces their speed by 5ft.

Kirin:
+1 Wis +1 Cha
Nirik: A kirin's temper can ignite, making them rash and fierce. 1/day a Kirin can fly into a fury of emotion, turning into a Nirik for 1 round per level. This form grants the Kirin a +4 bonus to attacks, +1d4 fire damage to melee attacks, but invokes a -3 penalty to any wisdom related check or save.
Kirins have two "handslots" using the magic of their horn, these extend to 10ft of reach. Two-handed weapons can be used with a kirin's maw and a handslot or both handslots, either way rendering them unable to focus their magic on other tasks. Light weapons can be held in each handslot.

Bat Ponies:
+2 Wis -2 Cha
One maxed out skill related to cutie mark
Glide: A bat pony of any level can glide when falling at a speed of 40ft, negating all fall damage. This ability takes affect even when unconscious, though the user takes 1d6 falling damage.
Flight: A bat pony can use their wings for flight with a speed of 40ft (average maneuverability) beginning at lvl 5.
Dark vision to 60ft
+2 racial bonus to listen
Bat Ponies can use two-handed weapons by holding it with their maw and using a wing to help maneuver the weapon, sacrificing flight. Light weapons can also be held with a wing, sacrificing flight.

I don't think you can run more than three traits, but you can still make them show up ingame without its benefits and drawbacks if you so desire.
What about items, feats abd the like? Ash's the expert here. You can also ask the Internet of you want to. I made my Psiwarrior with magic code men surfing the bandwidth.

To be honest with you guys. I basically only want high int and wis plus a bit of chr for my stats. All illsion spells that aren't damaging and then I am good to go. I really don't want any other abilities and items. Would probably not even use them anyway.

Traits aren't a very significant mechanic. I wouldn't really bother with that many of them. I took slow because I wanted more HP and I do 99% of movement in Wildshape.

Specialized is good if you want to raise the hit dice you can recreate with Simulacrum. Your 20th level class feature lets you ignore spell resistance, so loss in caster levels might not be too significant.

I urge you to consider at the very least speed increasing magic items and stat-boosting items then. An Ioun Stone that increases caster level by one, too. Can't quite remember what certain color it is, but search browsers are your friends.
It's okay if you don't want to, but don't be surprised if your stats are the lowest.
Tomes and Manuals are good to have, but they're quite heavy. There's always Phospy to help out there. Or the caravan.

You probably want Constitution, so you don't die instantly. Dex is decent for stealth, but not necessary.
Wisdom is low-priority because you have a good Will save. I't useful though.

I think I am the opposite of that. I honestly only want to play this because of the roleplaying aspect of this and the story asspect and less about the game aspect. Not to be disrespectful but that is simply what entice me to the game.

When it comes to combat I want to win the battle by thinking outside the box and in an unconventional way. Like I don't want to be an evocation mage that throws fireballs at an enemy until he wins through war of attrition. Again not disrespet against people who finds that fun I just don't think I will. I rather win that battle by tricking the monster of a cliff or something else you can't do in a video game.

Not saying you need to but I won't mind if you guys fix a chracter for me as long as I could use illusionary spells and the chracter I ended up with is similar to the glasscanon illusionary mage concept I wanted.

Or we could do it togather and I could learn form you guys how to build a character in d&d.

Again if you want to that is. I should obviously be responsible for finishing my own sheet.

The HorseShoes Of The Peerless Steed are absolute incredible for centaur/pony melee fighters. They give you immediate access to ride-by attack, trample, and spirited charge. Dex can be increased with a separate item.
They might not be as useful to Beguilers though.

Having access to ride-by attack is like spring attack without all of the feat taxes.
Trample is great for overruns.
Spirited Charge turns your standard Ubercharger into a monster that could dematerialize a dragon in one round, once you consider that it can be combined with Shock Trooper and Leap Attack, with a Lance.

I assume that I can't just stack bunch of random items that increase my powerlevel because that will have its drawbacks as well. I assume that I must find the right items, which intraction with eachother and my character ends up with more strengths then weaknesses. Is there some standrad archetype that is easy to create that I can play? Like an earth pony warrior that is all about epic levels of fighting abilities.

Since it seems that the character type I wanted to play might not be strong or useful since enemies seems to be immune to it by >true seeing, I don't really care for who I play instead.

Martial characters being easier is kind of a meme. They require a bit of feat/item research to play effectively.
As I mentioned, Beguiler wouldn't be that hard to play, because the spells are preselected. All you'd really need to do is max out your Intelligence and pick out some good items. What doesn't effect monsters will still effect NPCs.

If you want your PC to be introduced later and have some , GM might let you insert your character later on. Feel free to post your character as you make it, and I'd gladly help you along the way.

It will probably take some time. However, even if when I am done, GM can't let me join because at that time it is very late in the campaign, I still intended to take you up on your kind offer of help. I will create character less for this campaign's sake and more for the sake of later campaigns.
I will probably lurk your campaign as well. I have gotten invested in it and I'm quite curious to what will happend next.

I was going to do an elephant for better offensive power, but I wanted a companion that wouldn't die easily. This turtle is indestructible.
We generally play 7:30-8:00, United States Eastern Standard Time.

Beguilers and Illusionists are some of my favorite int-based casters, so I'd be glad to review what you put out. You're best off starting by writing a backstory or quirks so you can get a grip of what you want a Character to do.
Beguilers and wizards are also pretty good for buffing and support, so it won't matter what the enemy is immune to.

I actually wrote an incomplete backstory for this character. So I know who she is personalty wise but I don't think that she will work any longer as an epic level adventurer. From her backstory she was a slave to a beholder who didn't allow her to learn any damaging spells. He taught her illusions so that he could use her to conjure up the beholder's prisoners' worst fears to make them spill whatever information they had.
That is why she doesn't have any damaging spells and only know of illusionary spells.

Perhaps it would be easier if I just created a new character from scratch. I am thinking a warlock with a beolder patron. I like beholders if you have noticed. And also combine that with evocation and blood magic to get something edgy.

I don't know. But it is quite different from my former chracter at least. I will return to this later. Have stuff to do.

Alignment may dictate what feats/classes you can take though. Since alignment is the moral basis of the character, it's best to start from them and work your way up.

What's funny about Thralls as opposed to regular cohorts is that their personality, goals or alignment don't have to match yours even in the least bit, since their connection is psionic rather than social.
Even a solitary and antisocial Topaz Dragon can become a loyal pet to a Thrallherd.

Diamond was a more classical villain that seeked power and planned to become the strongest, beating anyother who would dare oppose him, but Topaz got to him before he could do some progress.
I mean, perhaps she asks Diamond sometimes to massage her after a day's work.
