Welcome back to thread number like 5 or 6 of Occupied Equestria, a My Little Pony RP based heavily upon the Equestria at War mod for Hearts of Iron 4, and using the mechanics of D&D 3.5, and set in South-East Equestria after it has been conquered and split between the Changelings and a foreign fascist power
Onyx is cleaning glasses, Spark has secured a contract to clear a quarry of Zombies for a real estate developer, Silver is eating meat, Ash and Iron are trying to raid what they believe to be a gangster's den, and Dark Star is holding hooves.

>>76120i unironically thought he was still in there. ooops
I am bored, so I think I will write about things that never were
In the scenes on the docks, I had intended there to be more explosions of the warehouses. Specifically, I placed a fire truck and fire crew as being the first to arrive on the scene. Ash is described as seeing a fire truck, and there is a fire truck on the map. I figured there would be an explosion in the burning warehouse that would kill a pair of firefighters, so as to make the burning of the warehouse feel more important and consequencial. However, a number of dice rolls failed to produce a critical failure, so that didn’t happen. Then I thought that the fire truck would be shot at by Marecuse. But then I realized that doing so would be unnecessary and attract unwanted attention, which Marecuse would be too smart to do. She also didn’t shoot at the first police officer she saw (an unarmed one), and in fact, didn’t kill any pony until police officers with guns were pointing them at Ash (whom she identified as a ‘friendly’). I sort of feel like I missed out on the chance to make Marecuse seem truly evil
Marecuse would have been warm and enthusiastic in talking about subversive activities, and easily annoyed and bitchy when talking about.... literally anything else. She would have been more focused on work and more introverted than Redclaw, with a more task oriented approach to the revolution than Redclaw’s conception of it as a moral crusade. If that “seduce Marecuse” plan had been attempted, she would have been immediately skeptical about any request for her to go to a secluded area that did not have a solid reason. She would have remained serious and cold to any flattery, with no laughter and at most a smile. She would have no problem with a proposition to have sex from a guy she met a minute before, with her concerns centering on her uniform being messed up and the limited time before they needed to leave. She ultimately would have agreed, under the condition that it took less than 10 minutes, and the stallion would not pull-out and risk getting fluids on her coat or uniform - threatening consequences if fluid did get on her coat or uniform. She would have made remarks about having sex on the voyage over, and hoping to get a lover later the same night. I was happy to be able to describe her room on the ship as being altered so that items of furniture were perfectly positioned to be centered to the wall, so she could be characterized as OCD even after her death.
If the scene in the mill had been replayed with the cylinder thrown at Marecuse, I would have given a non-proficiency penalty and strength penalty because it’s an awkward object to throw. If it had hit her, it may have done enough damage to hit her. I’m the more likely even that it missed, Dark Star would have successfully shot it to release gas. That would not have caused the canister to explode. Marecuse would have looked back and identified Dark Star, and probably Spark, and menaced then with her gun. She would have realized that shooting her gun at them would risk detonating the gas, and moved out of the warehouse and away from the gas. She probably then would have focused on getting guards to go after Dark Star and Spark. I am not sure she would have gone down to Ash’s position, since she would have wanted to kill Dark Star and Spark, as well as alert guards to hostile infiltrators. I wanted to give her a line of death dialogue, where she say something like “just as the worker honey bee dies to protect her hive, so too do I die for my cause. You have done nothing more here today than kill a single insect of a vast and angry swarm.” Ideally this would be said in character as the communist, so it would have served as a signal of her adherence to a collectivist ideology that sees individuals as of little value and easily sacrificed for the good of the whole, while also taunting the party members by belittling their accomplishment in killing her. I eventually gave part of this line to Blue Skies

>>76122Huh. What deep and intricate thought processes you have to deal with all the time you write a story. No wonder you stepped out for 14 hours after the little comment I did to Cauldron.
>>76122Also, if you didn't notice, Onyx arrived. I suggest you keep an eye on him, in case he wants to do something.
>>76123Okay, that should have said “done enough damage to kill her.” It May have killed her, but the more likely result would have been entirely losing the element of surprise
>>76124Actually, I stepped out because I was watching a movie at the theaters with family. I knew exactly how that scene would play out. Cauldron would slap Iron or throw her drink on him, and Iron would say something stupid that would provoke at least one half dozen large, burly gangsters to fight him
>>76126Why do you have so little faith on me...?
>>76130>>76129Jeez guys, way to kick an anon down. Also hi Sparky, Onyx poofed into existence, it's an afterchristmas miracle!
>>76131I wouldn't say poofed, just escaped family.
>>76132>escaped familyHope you packed some food before your grand escape.
>>76133Thank you, Star, you a bro Does anyone want to buy weapons before the next encounter?
>>76137Pretty sure it's not for you. After all, we're still asleep in-game. So yeh. No RP until the stallion gang does its thing.
>>76135I suppose I need a dagger now.
>>76135"Do you happen to have a simple dagger to purchase?" I ask the tailor.
>>76138>>76145"
We don't, but I happen to know a hardware store just down the block"
>>76147"Thank you. If you can point it out to me, I will be very grateful."
>>76147"Do they sell magic guns?"
>>76149"You would be surprised what you could ask for"
>>76149>>76148Three blocks down is a sports goods store. A yellow Pegasus Stallion named Happy Hunting greets you
>>76150I walk up to the yellow Pegasus.
"Hello. I was told I could buy a simple dagger here."
>>76150"Hows it going colt? im looking for 2 revolvers."
>>76152"We do indeed have Colt brand revolvers here."
>>76151"We have those in stock, yes"
>>76153"im looking for some that are magic."
>>76158Nvm holy didnt do what i thought.
>>76160"Only 4000 bits above the price of the base weapon"
>>76161"Whats the total,my good colt?"
Did I miss anything while I was gone?
>>76163Star and Spark are buying weapons at a sport goods store at the moment.
>>76162"Do you want two of these? That would cost 8200 bits in total, but unfortunately you'd basically have to be a peace officer in order to purchase these legally, thanks to weapons restrictions"
Dark Star has 8800 bits in total
>>76166Killing communists qualifies as keeping the peace if you ask me.
>>76166>600 bits left overDark Star shows his badge
"im with the party."
>>76164>>76165Ah. Not sure what else Silver would buy, especially considering he only has about 650 left.
>>76169Didn't you have a weapon already?
>>76170He has an old steel greatsword, yeah.
So, has Onyx woken up IC? Otherwise he should still be passed out in the tailor with Silver.
>>76171If you want ranged, then you're fucked by your lack of money, and Dark Star will surely not pay up since those two weapons he bought will leave him broke.
Hope he has the bits for the movie date >>76173Eh, if he really wants a firearm, he can just pick one up off of a dead opponent.
>spoilerI think he still has enough. He just won't be able to buy Blue the moon.
>>76169There's no need to spend everything.
>>76168He inspects the badge
“That’ll do”
Be advised that if the character’s funds fall much lower, his ability to woo mares with grand gestures may be... hindered
>>76169You should probably be aware that undead creatures are immune to everything except magic and bludgeoning weapons. A great sword won’t do you nearly as much good as a mundane worker’s sledgehammer
>>76172>>76167ATTENTION ANCAP FELLOW. IT SEEMS LIKE A GRAND TIME YOU WOKE UP FROM YOUR DEEP SLUMBER AND INTERACT WITH OTHER PLAYERS.
>>76176Is there even a place to buy something like that near the tailor?
>>76177>Not waking me up in a wagon asking if I tried to cross the border4/10, try harder next time
>>76179No one here is named Todd, though.
>>76179Well, when you're not even near a border, it's kind of hard to do the joke.
>>76176Dont worry about that Dark Star is going to be a miser
to everyone except blue until further notice.
>>76178the hardware store we are at probably.
>>76184Do something to indicate your vital organs are not outside of your body, perhaps.
Basically interact with Silver >>76185Someone extraordinarily frugal, to the point of cutting costs everywhere to avoid spending money.
>>76186Probably. I guess he could use a sledgehammer.
>>76185you know like scrooge. from the movie with the ghosts that visit him. Basiclly Dark Star is going to be as cheap as him.
>>76187Noted
"Hey shopkeep. You got any metal armor?"
>>76190Onyx suddenly speaking up rouses Silver from the state of drowsiness he was in. "Now, when did you finally wake up, sleepyhead?"
>>76182100 more>>76183Just be advised that hotel rooms cost money, restaurants cost money, super fancy restaurants cost
lots of money, and so forth
>>76185He's been just throwing wads of cash around
>>76189FUCK
I forgot to deduct the 400 Dark Star gave to Iron from his cash amount!
>>76190Trim Fit: "But of course. What are your needs?"
>>76191"Earlier, where are we?"
Onyx looks around
"Say a tailor's shop and I'll start testing my new halberd"
>>76193"...Alright then, I will not say that."
>>76192After a few seconds spent deep in thought, he comes to a realization, remembering a couple details about dealing with the undead. He turns to speak with Trim Fit. "Bit of stretch here: is there hardware store nearby, or some other place for tools?"
>>76194Just hope you get some money from this job. >>76192>>76194The sorcerer leans over to Dark Star and passes 500 bits to him.
>>76192"You got any scale mail?"
>>76192Correct me if I'm wrong GM, is my bit amount 5570 bits total after all my purchases?
>>76195"You may like to visit the Sporting Goods store, the same as your companions"
>>76197"Nylon laced with plates? Yes"
>>76198I would need to back read to figure that out
400 bits plus 400 bits plus 8000 minus 1500 minus whatever the hell the armor was, and like 70 bits for the hides
>>76199"I was thinking chail laced with plates, but okay..."
>>76199From what you said, it's 7250 bits total.
>>76199He rubs the sleep from his eyes. "Ah, that is where they went. And what are directions to this "Sporting Goods" store?
I've got dinner and stuff to do. If Star, Spark, and Onyx get done with their stuff before I get back, just act like Silver went to the place, got a sledgehammer, and came back to the tailor to meet up with the group. >>76202"I know you can't possibly have enough. Just be sure to save some for that lovely mare of yours."
I give a little wink and keep walking around the store.
>>76205"Thanks."
*Dark Star looks confused*
>>76201>>76201Minus at least 1350 for the armor
>>76203"Just down this way"
alright...>>76200"We also have more basic flack jackets, and many other forms of armor"
>>76204You keep doing that like you want to be woken up in the middle of the night by a Blackhooves raid, or by a ghost linked to some dark and ancient secret of the monastery
>>76207Onyx feels like his choice in armor is being criticized
"What'll give me the best protection"
>>76207>you want to be woken upI'm pretty sure it's that, or if not she wants the tiny unicorn pony to raid her room for hugs.
>>76209"The
absolute best comes from a complete set of steel. It would slow you down and not help you much in the water, but the protection is unmatched"
>>76211The unicorn knows an unconscious pony cannot give hugs
>>76212Like I can think of story for a "bonus round" at midnight, it's just hard to get the time to plan everything well
>>76213"Alright, what won't give me the mobility of an overturned tank?"
>>76214"I prefer to think of the heavier armor more as a 'heavy' tank, like the Changeling Panzers. But a flak jacket with basic magic enchantment would cost 1200, and is the best you can get for cheap while still being as fast as an unarmored you"
>>76213i named my gunz
Ride the Lightning and The Seeker of truth 2d6vdmg +1 to hit to each
>>76215Shit, I don't have enough
"I think I'll pass for now, still need to think about it"
>>76216Nice
I've got some time in between things that need done.>>76207Silver nods and makes his way down to the store the tailor mentioned.
>>76216It is so, although I am less sure about the chance to hit
>>76217"You may do so"
How much does he have? The flak jacket he has should still be good>>76218He meets there a yellow Pegasus stallion named Happy Hunting
"What can I do for you today?"
>>76219He looks around, seemingly confused by the nature of the store and what it contains. "...Okay, this is long shot, but do you have any kind of sledgehammer for sale? Or do you know place where I can find one?"
>>76219both of the enchantments are +1
>>76223"Could you show me where?"
>>76224"Over here"
He shows a selection
"Any particular requirements or desired features?"
>>76225He looks at what they have available. "Anything big, heavy, bludgeoning, and sturdy."
>>76226"If you just want something big, take a Railroadnmare's Hammer"
>>76223they cost as much as one yet they arent? are you sure about that?
>>76227He grabs one, getting a feel for its weight. "How much?"
>>76228Think about it. A +1 enchantment gives +1 on attack and +1 on damage. Shock, which costs the same, gives +1d6 damage, or an average of 3.5 damage. Even with no bonus on attack, Shock seems superior to a straight up enchantment bonus. So it would be
much less balanced if shock gave +1 attack in addition to its +3.5 damage
>>76229"Only 20 bits"
Yes, it is heavy
>>76230I guess there may also be a mastercraftsmare bonus, but that would add another 300 bits to the price
>>76230He levitates 20 Bits out of his saddlebags and puts them on the counter. "I'll take it."
I take it it's the equivalent of a gnome hooked hammer? >>76234"Have good day." With that, he makes his way back to the tailor to check if his compatriots are ready to go.
I think he paid triple what it's actually worth, then. >>76230Shock is subdual. It's not multiplied by crits.
>>76230Yea that would make sense i suppose. What about seeking then?
>>76238I'm getting the impression that seeking eliminates the AC bonus that enemies can get under certain circumstances, like concealment and maybe also cover.
I think one could call this the longest setup to a mission of this size ever.
>tfw I'm not even sure if the people involved are still online
>>76240Ain't that the truth... Iron and Ash's mission, even though it's not even finished, last about 3 sessions total.
>>76242That's good to hear.
>>76241>>76242So, when are we actually getting around to this thing? Silver and Onyx are at the tailor, and I have no idea where Spark and Star are currently.
>>76244W0t? Silver is with Star and Spark. Remember that the two other ponies were at the same shop the tailor owner pointed to.
>>76245He bought a hammer and went on back to the tailor.
>>76244We are at a hardware store that sells guns and knives. We will be done once the GM decides what the guns can and can’t do. I already asked for a dagger and that’s all I’m getting until I get a little more money saved up.
>>76240>>76240>>76243Most groups only play on weekends
We could get to the quarry
So are we doing anything or?
>>76252That's what I'm waiting on. I was afraid everyone had fallen asleep.
>>76251>>76252Come on. 2 are ready. That's half of the party. I say you're good.
>>76250>>76252I go pay for a simple dagger and head back to the tailor to join the others.
>>76254>>76255That's three. Now, where did Dark Star run off to?
>>76254>>76255>>76256I really hope he's not jacking off to Blue Skies again. At least he could wash his dick before that.
>>76252>>76253>>76255>>76258That's four! As long as the GM is still here, we're all good to go.
>>76250>>76261GM, I swear. If you're leaving the moment the party is ready, I will send a bully hunter death squad to your house.
Might as well do something to allievate the boredom in the meantime.>>76255>>76258When Spark and Dark Star get back to the tailor, they see Silver leaning against a nearby wall, just getting started on a cigarette. A large, heavy hammer sits nearby. "Ah, you are both back. I trust you are ready for this mission, now?"
>>76265He motions towards the front of the tailor. "Onyx woke up if you did not already know. At least we will not have to carry him to this...what did you say this place we are going to was? Quarry?"
>>76266“Somepony wants to build something in its place, but it was a quarry and now it’s filled with monsters. Dead things that aren’t dead anymore is how they described it.”
>>76264"yea, i got some new guns. im broke now though."
pulls out the revolvers
>pics related >>76267He nods. "Yes, I heard you say undead. It is why I bought hammer." He levitates it up and onto his back. "Must be very old quarry. There are not many necromancers outside Dread League. Too dangerous for them."
>>76269He whistles at the sight of them. "They look nice. I am not very good with firearms myself." He thinks for a second on it. "Wait, how will you use two at same time as earth pony?"
Alright, here is the set up for the next part
The taxi ride to the quarry rides through dense commercial streets and single home neighbor hoods, until you reach an area in the northern part of town that is, shall we say, wealthier. Higher class, and more like west town than east town. The area known as the Silver Springs Development Project is surrounded on three sides by commercial, high class residential, and nice apartments. Most of the development has already had topsoil removed. A poster on the fence that surrounds the property shows a set of nice town homes, department stores, and apartments. The mare from the real estate office is available on call to let you into the property. The area that concerns the party is towards the south and the center of the property
The mare says: “This area to the north of Baltimare was once home to the native Chincoteague tribe of ponies prior to the colonization from more northernly Equestrian tribes. Around the year 730, the wealthy Baltimare Merchant Joseph Curwhinny purchased this land, and made a farm on the property. He was very important in the triangular trade with Zebrica and Griffonia at the time, and was said to sometimes import Zebra slaves. He was a bit reclusive, and interested in Thaumaturgy among other things. He is believed to have been killed in a minor revolt of citizens against an oppressive tax collector back in 770, a revolt that also destroyed his farm house and other buildings on the property. In 860, the silver springs granite company purchased this property, and started excavating a quarry here. This flourished until it was shut down abruptly in 891. A small river was diverted and directed into the quarry, and it became an artificial lake. Another farm house was built by the Mason family, but that too closed down years ago. This area also seems to have been one of many scenes of skirmishes during Pinkamena’s Last Stand in the Great War. It was approved for the Silver Springs Development Project a month ago.
Now, when we started digging we found…. Well, on other parts of the property we found what seems to have been a sort of religious site for the Chincoteague tribe, as well as… burial sites. Moving graves isn’t legal under normal equestrian law, but the burial sites of ancient natives do not receive the same protection as more modern graveyards. We were able to proceed anyways. It was what we found when we redirected the river and started to drain the quarry that was more… disturbing. In one of the lower levels of the quarry on the southeast side, we found an unexploded 250 LB bomb. Unexploded ordinance is not uncommon, and that alone would not have stopped us. It was what else was in the quarry. We’ve found skeletons, and, well, some of them are a bit livelier than the dead out to be. They are in the flooded areas, as well as the non-flooded. The quarry seems to connect with some sort of underground cavern on the Northwest side. We would like everything in the cavern to be either cleared, or made immobile enough so that it could be disabled later by basic workers.”
The quarry itself has layered levels, some of which towards the south and east are more flooded, and some which are completely dry. There seems to be a sort of entrance on the North east side to the aforementioned cavern. The bomb is in less than 1 foot of water on the southern side. The quarry itself is to the south of the foundations of what was once the Curwhinny farm, now only foundations and a basement with open doors. There is a well between the farm and the quarry. There is also another building – a dilapidated farm house on the east side that was once the Mason residence
>>76271"This should be good...."
>>76273"'Good' is one word for this."
>>76271Silver turns to his companions. "What do you all think? Could be there is alternate way into quarry in one of those old farms. Either that, or we set up killzone on one of lower layers of quarry. Let skeletons come up one-by-one and smash them as they meet us."
>>76271Dark Star wretches when he hears that Curwhinnny brought in zebras
"So hes the reason there are ziggers here."
he thinks to himself "Rest In Peace pinkie."
"Yea We can take care of your skeleton problem. is there a reward involved?"
>>76274“Something tells me they aren’t going to come at us one by one... I think we should try a back way from the farms. But you guys are the experts in fighting things. I’ll let you make the choice.”
>>76276Silver thinks on the situation some more. "It is better than being surrounded on all sides, and between my hammer and Onyx's halberd, we might just still cut them down. If we go check farms and one of them has way into quarry, then we must make sure it has suitable exit back out, or else we will have to fight on against skeletons. But, with farms, we might also find something of use to us before we even get into quarry."
>>76277>>76276"i think we should set up a base of sorts at the farmhouse."
>>76278Silver turns to Star and nods. "Then it is settled. We will go to farmhouse."
>>76279“Sounds good.”
I head with the others to the farmhouse.
Onyx follows the group, waiting until he can be useful.
>>76275“Curwhinny did import zebras, yes, but few of any ever left his farm.
There is a reward. We’ll pay in cash”
>>76279Which farmhouse? The dilapidated one, or the one where only a base remains?
>>76280"It has been long while since I have been part of group. Is nice."
>>76282I assume the dilapidated one, as there's not really a farmhouse left on the other farm. >>76282Onyx's coat visibly shimmers a bit more at the offer of more payment.
>>76283“Yep. I didn’t picture fighting skeletons with a couple of mother ponies when I first came to this town. It’s nice... in a weird sort of way.”
I hold my glass close by my side.
>>76281>>76284Silver is a bit amused and yet worried at the same time by the change. "So, how did bartender like yourself become such skilled halberdier as I have heard you are?"
>>76286"I believe it is what is called 'comradeship' by some ponies." He looks at the glass, wondering what's so special about it.
>>76283"yea like that purple horse used to say Friendship os important."
>>76284"You look shinier."
>>76286"hey give me a sip of tipsy."
>>76287"I was in the military, and someone had to keep ponies from getting too close to the artillery."
>>76288"I do that sometimes"
>>76288“No. Tipsy is not for drinking.”
I hold the glass away from Dark Star.
“Call it crazy if you want, but I don’t feel right without it by my side.”
>>76285>>76283“The Mason Farmhouse has been abandoned for some decades now. We were intending to demolish it now that the zoning committee has okayed the clearing of the lot”
The farm house is elevated a few feet over a crawl space. It is a single floor, and the left side roof is entirely destroyed. All windows are broken. There are bulet holes in the wooden siding, some of which is falling off and all of which has lost its luster. The white paint has mostly flaked off
[1d20-1 = -9]>>76288"I think phrase is 'friendship is magic'."
>>76289"You were in military? Then you must be my neighbor in tavern, one that Glass told me about."
>>76291Search: While Silver isn't an expert on architecture or engineering or whatnot, he still looks around the old farmhouse to make sure the war-torn building isn't going to collapse on them suddenly.
[1d20+5 = 25]>>76292Dark Star helps him search
"yea thats the way she said it."
>>76292The floor is stable enough. He can see that the collapsed roof was actually caused by an artillery shell and not termites, and affects mostly the livingroom
>>76293He sighs, remembering Equestria as it was before the war.
Thank goodness we've got Dark Star's eyes. >>76293Shit, how much is he searching?
>>76294"I sure do hope no pony died from that..." He enters the farmhouse, satisfied that it won't suddenly crush them all.
>>76301"It is shame if they did."
>>76298A terrible odor greats him when he nears the property. The house is small, and the door is unlocked and will not close. The living room has no roof and most of the roof seems to have been blown away rather than on the living room floor. All furniture in that room has been removed. The bedroom has a bed that is waterdanaged, and is fairly simple. There is a parlor room with a pair of chairs with floral patterns on them - also water damaged. A bathroom has a broken toilet and a medicine cabinet with a shattered mirror. A kitchen has a few cabinets that are empty and an ice box. There are no electric refrigerators and a stove uses wood. All doors in the entire farmhouse are unlocked. Some locks are broken, and some doors will not close.
Underneath the building, in the crawl space, you find the source of the smell: a decaying pony corpse in green uniform
>>76303When Silver finds the bathroom, he checks the medicine cabinet to see if there's anything salvageable left inside. He also calls out to the rest of the group. "Found anything yet?"
>>76303"Oh Celestia,that smells terrible!"
"Theres a body down here colts!"
>>76305"Body...? Let me check medicine cabinet here, then I will come and see."
>>76304The medicine cabinet must have been cleared when the house was abandoned. That, or it has been cleared over the years. A spider wen has developed in it, a glass of cotton swabs has been open and decayed, and a brown bottle of probably rubbing alcohol has fallen to the ground and broken
>>76305"This is a great way to start our mission..."
>>76309“We are about to fight a bunch of those, you do realize.”
>>76310"This one still has flesh though"
>>76308Only mildly disappointed, he closes it back up to go see the body Star is yelling about. His eyes water as he approaches and the smell starts to hit him, but with it not being the first time he's dealt with the decaying dead, he suffers through it.
>>76305"I see what you mean about smell." He uses his magic to turn the body over, trying to get an idea of how he died, and who he was.
>>76310>>76312"Still could be zombie. Do not approach it just yet." He turns to Spark. "How good are you with finding traces of magic?"
>>76311It’s a pony alright. You can’t see much because he’s under the crawl space. He is most definitely not moving
>>76315i lay down and turn my flash light on to get a better view inside.
[1d20+3 = 19]>>76314I have done it just last night. Let’s see if I remember how it goes.”
