Oh anon, immortal leader of one of the chosen civilizations, you and fellow anons must direct the peoples of <insert civ here> to full glory. You see there is computer terminal out there with one highly driven fellow who has decided to play a game. A game against himself. For days this fellow played, directing all the moves for each of the ten nations placed on the map of a civ5 game, taking the time and putting in the effort to fully reach the potential of each of the nations. But now he offers up one of these nations for you to direct. Will you lead that civilization to new heights, or will it fall and turn to sand in your hands.

Welcome, so I'm playing a civilization 5 game with the two major expansions. It's a hotseat game, meaning I'm controlling all the players in the game, and I've been doing it for awhile. I'm the kind of guy who used to play monopoly against himself when I was a child, I have a very active imagination and I thought, why not play a full civ game in which I play to the best of my ability for each nation? And that's what I've begun to do, I'm already 120 turns into the game which really translates to I've played 1,200 turns for each nation on the map(mostly consisting of figuring out the best resource collection tactics and moving units to explore the map, REAL fascinating guys realllll fascinating stuff). I'm hoping to play the game in a way that leads to some really fun political events, crusades/proxy wars/neo-imperialism/territory disputes, we could have religions based around the sun pony, and another religion based on the moon pony(get a catholic/orthodox religion divide in the mix), just think "Super Model UN". When it comes to wars/diplomacy I'm going to play each nation to the best of my ability's, so the game is going to be as fair as I possible can make it when it comes to how nations treat each other.

Final thing, this is going to be a long long long long game, I LOVE civilization, but even I get tired of playing 100's of turns to get a 10 turn farm to be built. So I'm moving at the pace of 10 turns a day(or 10 turns for each player, equaling 100 turns), so everyday at some consistent time I'll check in, give updates, look for the inputs that you have for the next moves or what to build. Think of it like a news site, a slowly evolving world you can come back and check in on daily.

Anyway's let me introduce you to the nations around the our little world. First up, we have the Zulu. Pretty good starting position, but wasn't really going for faith(I figure whatever you guys would want to create a religion around Celestia, so this wouldn't be the best civilization for that). I'm going to go though and present each civ with a map/social policy's/tech tree, feel free to ask for more information on any of these nations. More to come in the next post

New decisions, what will Warsaw build next and where will the new unit be stationed(I'm fairly confident that the spear men can handle the barbarian camp on it's own)

Honestly the warrior unit could go anywhere, input on the next thing Warsaw builds is an important decision. Bronze working is going to be finished soon, so no use in creating another warrior if it's going to be obsolete when it finishes.

I would send the Warriors as backup towards the barbarians, you can have an unfortunate "dice roll". Then I would build a granary in Warsaw for rapid growth.

Sent form the higher ups of Warsaw, the warriors were able to take down the barbarian camp, they faced an uphill battle(in which, the camp was literally up a hill) but there was victory to be had.

And that's it, we did it, ten turns. I don't think it will take this long every day, and I'll try to make it less of a dull experience with some story element in the future. But yeah, day one down, deep deep stone age politics(meaning there isn't any politics).

Awesome! The game is pretty slow right now, but I promise it will get better as the days go by. It's just the beginning of civ5 can be really slow, especially since I'm playing marathon mode(but I play marathon mode because then each era lasts longer and everything seems more grand).

Oh man, never walk miles to eat at a restaurant when it in turn means you need to walk back home after said restaurant meal. I feel sick.

We will be starting the game shortly, in the mean time if anyone has names for Krakow, do share. I'm thinking the spear man unit and the warrior can return to Warsaw to protect all the farms/pasture since Krakow currently has no tile improvements that need to be defended.

The production queue for Warsaw is as follows:
finish scout -> build spear man(when bronze working is finished) -> build settler. Feel free to give input if you have another idea in mind. Playing ten turns a day means that the worker building the farm next to Warsaw will just keep on doing that for today. Another day in the stone age where the biggest problems are deciding where to send new settlers and what tiles to improve.

A party of expert survivalists have been gathered in the center of town, ready to take on the challenges of venturing into the unknown for our still very young society. The question is, which direction should they be sent, the east where old maps indicate a vast desert lies, or to the unknown west.

The city of Warsaw has also seen some growth. In the mean time, what tiles should the city work? The economy is stagnate with zero income. If we worked on gathering some cash, we could buy a tile for Krakow, there is a cattle tile to the east of Krakow that would speed up growth.

I know alot of these early game decisions really aren't that grand in scope or compelling, so if no input is given then I'll keep the game moving. I know this game well enough to make some good choices.

I'll continue playing a few more turns. For any one watching this thread and wondering why it's so slow, it's because I'm not playing a single player game, I'm playing all the nations on the map(to the best of my ability's and as fair as possible) the pro's are that latter game is going to be full of political drama that the AI wouldn't be able to do, the con's is that it takes a long time for me to play even a few turns in game.

Example: me playing 3 turns means playing 30 turns for each nation on the map. I know I'm beating a dead horse at this point but I say this because this game will get better as time goes on, it's just going to take a week or so to get to the better parts.

The two military units have taken up posts protecting the northern side of the kingdom, a decree from Warsaw pushed for the settlement of the cattle tile to the east of Krakow, to compensate the loss of wealth, Warsaw went for a gold production focus. The celebration for the scouts was quick, and by morning the survivalists headed west to chart out unknown lands. They found another barbarian settlement, which has raised concern that Krakow would once more be under threat. Warsaw, after mastering the art of utilizing bronze metals have started working on another spear man. Happyness is reaching a worrying low throughout the empire, but nobles reassured the public that a new wind of trade and luxury riches would soon be improved for all the citizens to enjoy(ivory or fur next to Warsaw is now the next improvement I'm thinking of building after the farm). Another thing I forgot to mention is that we took the goddess of the hunt, meaning all those elephants will give us more food along with gold.(this was before I opened the game to the public)

The next big decision is what tech to go for next. But there is only one more turn to play, so there shouldn't be anything else to report on today. So Same time tomorrow, 6 or 7 PM UTC.

Sorry I was late to the fun today.
I think expansion to the west and add two cities at north ans south edges of desert, but a perhaps one tile away from desert. Bot both coastal cities. But this expansion could wait. I just think that desert will/could give oil and other good shit later on.
The barbarians needs to be eradicated as it is fertile land and we ant it. There is so much land we want at the moment. Poland is spoiled for choice. So first expansion I think should be a coastal city south of Krakow ans Warsaw connecting the influence… But I am always unsure as there is so many places I want to take.

We must take all the lands! Kek, we really are blessed with many options for good city placements, after Warsaw finishes the spear man unit we can build another settler and pick out a good spot for our third city. And of course, once more our solders will have to clear out the uncivilized scum to the west of Krakow, but I'm kind of nervous to send the military right now, it would leave the improved tiles around Warsaw valuable to random barbarian attacks, even if I leftold one unit and sent the other it wouldn't be enough to defend all the tiles

Here are the updated maps, and lucks on our side as an iron resource is nearby Krakow(namesubjecttochange).

I have two plans for Warsaw, we could:

1. Save up some money, and slowly build up the spear man unit.

2. Go full on production mode and rush the spear man in 16 turns.

Our happiness is at zero so growing the city's would lead to disaster, so we are timing our city growth to the improvement of the fur/elephant tiles. With that in mind, the Shrine production in Krakow is locked in( should be finished by the end of today).

I haven't even started creating the story lore yet, but we already have a pasture for horse's north of Warsaw, kek would that mean ponies are enslaving other ponies? Or are pastures like, little towns outside of major city's, so many questions.

The farm was finished, and now the workers are being sent to improve either the Fur or the Ivory to gain some more happiness. To the Far East, our scouts have found Mongolia! It's happening!... But not really as the tribe met us with indifference, such is life in the deep stone age. Still though, this an important.

So since I'm playing all nations on the map, anything any kind of trade deals you want to make, or any kind of trade deals they(I) want to make can be talked out here.

Final thing, I started working on writing for now as a place holder so that I could keep playing out turns, feel free to give input on what tech you would like to have worked on, and I can change it to that.

The barbarian was killed off by the city's ranged attack, and the scouts have located where they may have come from. The shrine in Krakow was finished... And the economy get's a little worse(Where are the tributes? Come support your pony elder gods, give money today), and faith accumulation speeds up nicely. Krakow needs a new build order, so if you have suggestions let me know.

Finally, something we haven't seen in a while, a ruin! Will it give us advanced tech that will put us ahead? Will the Mongolians come foreword with some kind trade deal, or any diplomacy for that matter?
Find out all this and more on the next installment of DRAGON BAL-, ahem, I mean more turns tomorrow, same time as always, 6 or 7 PM UTC. That's all for today, as for the lore and story of anon as he directs Poland, it's still a work in progress.

Sorry for being late to the game again.
I think Krakow need to get a granary started at some point, and we need to move the worker from Warsaw to Krakow to improve the tiles there. Then when it is time Warsaw can build a new worker.

The granary seems like the best build option for Krakow at the moment, and once the worker is done with improving the camp for the fur, it could be moved over there to improve either the horses or the iron(probably the horse's so that we don't have to cut down the forest and use up more turns then we need. We need to be careful with how we grow our city's, if we get a third city into the mix we might have a happiness shortage so keeping some city's at a lower population level(like 3) might be a good strategy.

A new day, another ten turns. Welcome back, yesterday we found a ruin, some uncivilized scum to our east, and two barbarian camps. Today we start working on a granary in Krakow and keep working on the spear man in Warsaw.

A quick run down on Mongolia, they don't have any luxury resources to trade with us, and both of us are relatively broke, so there are no worthwhile trade deals to be brokered between our community's.

Let's start with the bad news, the ruins didn't give us gold or tech or even faith, it gave us culture, 20 turns worth, yet still not all that valuable compared to getting free tech.

The good news is that the workers will be done with the camp in 14 turns, just in time to improve our happiness so that both Warsaw and Krakow can grow a population without sending us into negative happiness.

Otherwise, not that much to report, the spear man is almost finished in Warsaw, so the next thing to produce is a settler, and while the settler is being built, we can take some time to try to gain some more wealth as our coffers are getting dangerously low.

Shame with the ruins being more or less without value.
But I think if we get Krakow improved a bit with farms etc. it will fare well. We can also place a city in the most fertile land to the west of Warsaw and try to make it a megacity with plenty of food and turn it into a science hub. There is also a good fishing spot north-west of Warsaw (between the forests) that potentially could be a good spot for a city at one point. But there is always so many places one could place a city and make it thrive.

Like yesterday, not much is going on. The camp to collect fur is almost done, so happiness will increase, and then both the cities are going to grow a population. A settler will be built in Warsaw after this growth. A spear man unit is making the long trek to take on the barbarian camp to the south/east of Krakow.

The scouts have hit a wall, if they go past Mongolians Capital, they risk becoming stuck(but there are maps(albeit outdated) earlier in the thread that show what lies beyond, so they will turn around and head back, to explore the desert next to the west next.

Annnd that's it for today, the stage is slowly being set for the grand political drama that will take place in the future. But for now, turn by turn, time marches foreword. Same time tomorrow, 6-7 PM UTC(or at least that's when I start playing turns and actively check the thread)

Yes you are right, placing it on a mountain would give defensive bonus and we "get rid" of an unproductive spot. I just tried to place it on a spot giving the most farmland and food production. This way try to make the city grow fast and hopefully be a productive city science wise and in other production due to population. Or a fast producer of settlers.

I have thought a bit more. The northern city is a good placement. I just forgot for a moment that Fort Saber is going to be leveled with the earth later in the game and thus is going to be gone. At that stage the placement and access to resources will be good. Perhaps it should be one tile to the east so we grab all the resources in one go, and don't have to culturally fight too hard for them.

I think so, better to take it quickly before their city is able to expand culturally. But man it is always a "big" decision placing a city. Perhaps one step to the east so it still is connected to the river. This for waterpower and free road a potential city at the end of the river near the oasis.
