Oh anon, immortal leader of one of the chosen civilizations, you and fellow anons must direct the peoples of <insert civ here> to full glory. You see there is computer terminal out there with one highly driven fellow who has decided to play a game. A game against himself. For days this fellow played, directing all the moves for each of the ten nations placed on the map of a civ5 game, taking the time and putting in the effort to fully reach the potential of each of the nations. But now he offers up one of these nations for you to direct. Will you lead that civilization to new heights, or will it fall and turn to sand in your hands.

Welcome, so I'm playing a civilization 5 game with the two major expansions. It's a hotseat game, meaning I'm controlling all the players in the game, and I've been doing it for awhile. I'm the kind of guy who used to play monopoly against himself when I was a child, I have a very active imagination and I thought, why not play a full civ game in which I play to the best of my ability for each nation? And that's what I've begun to do, I'm already 120 turns into the game which really translates to I've played 1,200 turns for each nation on the map(mostly consisting of figuring out the best resource collection tactics and moving units to explore the map, REAL fascinating guys realllll fascinating stuff). I'm hoping to play the game in a way that leads to some really fun political events, crusades/proxy wars/neo-imperialism/territory disputes, we could have religions based around the sun pony, and another religion based on the moon pony(get a catholic/orthodox religion divide in the mix), just think "Super Model UN". When it comes to wars/diplomacy I'm going to play each nation to the best of my ability's, so the game is going to be as fair as I possible can make it when it comes to how nations treat each other.

Final thing, this is going to be a long long long long game, I LOVE civilization, but even I get tired of playing 100's of turns to get a 10 turn farm to be built. So I'm moving at the pace of 10 turns a day(or 10 turns for each player, equaling 100 turns), so everyday at some consistent time I'll check in, give updates, look for the inputs that you have for the next moves or what to build. Think of it like a news site, a slowly evolving world you can come back and check in on daily.

Anyway's let me introduce you to the nations around the our little world. First up, we have the Zulu. Pretty good starting position, but wasn't really going for faith(I figure whatever you guys would want to create a religion around Celestia, so this wouldn't be the best civilization for that). I'm going to go though and present each civ with a map/social policy's/tech tree, feel free to ask for more information on any of these nations. More to come in the next post

I know the feeling, I have 4 other players who have/working on settlers right now, trying to find the best possible spots for all of them is a slow process. I made fort Saber to take the resources that our city is about to "steal", kek, If we go through with this our relationship with Mongolia will be cemented in stone as our future enemy, non the less, it's definitely a good move

Lol, just goes to show how bad the AI can be. By the way, "the best I can play" means no meta play, so if we decide to go to war with Mongolia or anyone else, I don't use that knowledge(so I can't know if and what other players plans are) But obviously such a city placement would annoy Mongolia. But yeah, no meta to the best that I can possibly do no meta, even military unit placement, I just play every player from what they and they alone know.

We need Sailing for our coastal cities, but that is a bit later. So I am leaning towards Archery to get to Roads to connect the cities or Masonry before Sailing.
I think Archery is perhaps the way to go as we need roads to expand. But frankly we need it all.
Not sure about this strategy, but we could try to jump on Iron working to get an tough army and go to war in early stages, but can quickly backfire.
I think we say go for Archery -> The Wheel -> Horseback Riding as we have lots of horses/ponies on our side and can get a strong army that way.
But this is just my thought, I am a bit unsure what best way is. It will vary on what we do next, for coastal cities we need Sailing so they don't starve.
But then again those free techs on fist to research Optics or perhaps Engeneering is more safe/sure route is also good incentive.

Hmm, let's see, the workers should finish the camp today, our spear unit should be able to take out the first barb camp south/east of Krakow and both city's will gain another population(then Warsaw will work on a new settler). Seems about right, and Archery will be our next technological ambition of the nation!... So, pretty average day I would say

Right, starting with the stuff that took place last time that I didn't document. The one of the two barbarian camps was wiped out, and the camp to collect fur was finished(and it saved the economy from collapsing), with the 4 extra points of happiness, both city's grew one population. All around, good things.

The worker is about to be escorted over to krakow to build a farm(I think), any ideas on what the worker should build? And Warsaw is going to build a settler(while also gathering some gold before shifting gears to go full production)

Nah, it's fine I feel motivated to do this today, and since we are still in the stone age, turns don't take to much time(but they are starting to, I've been thinking over the best places for settlers for the other nations, and picking tech/tile improvements/ city growth strategy's/ military expansion, pretend I'm a slow computer, my processing speed for turns will only get slower and slower as time goes on, haha)

The nation of Poland is in good hands, weather it's anons directing it or me going into auto pilot mode, I can manifest the will and ideas though my choices.

I do have something I want input on though, the world is become a very dangerous place(spear man barbarians have started to attack my other nations) In light of that, should we go for finishing the spear man in Warsaw before making another settler? I feel like we need another military unit now, it will only take 25 turns to get a settler, and seven more to build the spear man, I think it's worth it. Everyone agree?

Somewhere out there, a barbarian thought to himself, why not use a pointy stick instead of club/hammers? And thus fear spread by rumor, from town to town all the way until our group of survivalist scouts sent a runner to Krakow confirming our fears.

Other then that, work on a farm started next to Krakow, and Warsaw became resolute in it's effort to expand the military.

The economy is doing excellent, and Warsaw is almost done with the spear man militia, and which after it will begin working on a settler. A farm begins to be built east of Krakow, and the spear man that killed off the barbarian camp to the south east starts heading north.

A new day dawns, our spear man units camp outside the barbarian scourge. Warsaw deemed it necessary to send two units for the fear that the barbarian spear man would be near by, and yet the unit was no where to be found.

The nation started to work on the secrets of masonry, and the settler is due to be built in 20 more turns.

Just when we thought the barbarians where taken care of, a runner from the scout troop returns telling of yet another camp to the west of Warsaw. The rumors spread though the capital at first instilling worry, but an young militia officer who was home from the spear unit stationed in the northern sheep pasture had a few to many to drink and gave an rousing speech, telling about the braveness of our military, about how our troops have fought many barbarianism out there in the untamed lands to the east of Krakow, and how we will always triumph over those savages. Three cheers!

Our scouts reach the entrance to the desert, but they need a direction to travel, should they go south or west?

And so another day goes by, another 10 turns. Across the world all nations now have two city's or more, where entering the middle ancient era, more production choices, more tiles, income and more soldiers. The future is bright.

For the next city I suppose, it's just I rather have two spear man guarding Warsaw because of all the improvements. But it's not set in stone, we could go straight for another settler(we might have to wait to use so that stay above 0 happiness, but it's better to have a settler then not) The settler should be done in two days, so we can figure it out then.

Wow, after today we will be 2/15 of the way though the game. I don't often play civilization 5(played way more civilization 4), so I don't know how long this period of extreme slowness will last, but at least their will be 100's of turns in which the politics/wars/religion aspect will be far more relevant then it is in the early game. One day all the good land will be taken up and nations will have multiple city's. It's going to be incredible! Though I'm guessing that's a few weeks away from now.

Anyways, going to start playing, be back in 40 minutes or so I think. The scout is going to go south and the new barbarian camp will be dealt with soon. The farm east of Krakow should be finished today, so if you guys have input on what next to build with our worker let me know.
