Now, on Occupied Equestria: Silver is storming the Ministry building to find a changeling bomb. Posey is making her get away from unknown hostiles after an adventure in the city. Amber is trying desperately to flee the country. All of that, and more
>>169965Posey checks the covered cart, then the loft.
>>169966The cart is reasonably large, with a big back designed to carry cargo, and a door, walls, and roof that covers it. It is empty. There is a wooden door with a stone wall behind it, slightly recessed and evidently going to a root cellar.
The loft is mostly empty, with some decayed straw, but interestingly there are several articles of clothing up there - shirts and jackets. There is a walkway that allows a pony to walk out to an opening with a wooden plank, that allows a view over the riverbed, part of the meadow, and the forest.
>>169967"He was definitely here..." Posey says, as she examines the articles of clothing
She turns and moves towards the root cellar.
>>169968The articles of clothing belong to a stallion. One is a set of robes, while another is a formal dress jacket of (semi) contemporary design
The root cellar is hard to access, with the cart parked a little too closely too it, and the door not wanting to open.
>>169969"Get the others. We'll have to push this out of the way." Posey tells August
>>169970He nods. A set of ponies arrive, but only one is needed to move it. A beige earth pony hooks himself up to the cart, and after a brake unapplied, moves the cart, albeit with difficulty given the rusty axels.
>>169971Posey waits for the cart to be moved before attempting to open the door.
>>169972This is done. The door however, remains uncooperative
>>169973Posey requests help from the other ponies, to either push down the door, or pull it out (provided that somepony brought any rope).
>>169974They door is bucked, broken, and then removed.
Posey can see immediately there is a small set of stone stairs into a subterranean chamber
"Here we go..." Posey says, as she moves down the steps
>>169975Posey walks down the stairs.
>>169976>>169977Is Posey waiting for other ponies to shine their electric torches, or is she just using dark vision? It's not exactly a well illuminated room, and I do not think she has a torch.
>>169978Posey waits for the ponies to shine their torches down, because it would be a bad idea to reveal that she can see in the dark.
I have to step out for 15-20 minutes to shower. If I don't take a shower every day, I will lose my mind.
I'll be back ASAP though. Maybe type up a description of the lair?
The room is natural cave that near the entrance has stones on its side to presumably keep back soil, but is limestone elsewhere, sometimes carved. The floor is dirt and stone, mostly level. At one point is was likely used for cool food storage. There is a stone wall at the far end with a wooden door that clearly closes off more of the cave.
Peering into the room, Posey can see that the room is rather populated with a number of curious items. Shelves, multiple pine rectangular boxes. There's a set of armor. Two of them actually. A pair of rifles sitting up against the shelves, and helmets that look just a bit premodern.
As Posey steps down the stairs, there is a blue glow almost like Saint Elmo's fire near her hooves, but it vanishes. The stairway is narrow and only permits one pony to come down at a time, although realistically jumping down to the side of the stairs is viable, as the distance is not that great.
>>169981>there is a blue glow almost like Saint Elmo's fire near her hoovesRolling Arcana, to determine the effect of this magic
[1d20+7 = (18+7) = 25]>Peering into the room, Posey can see that the room is rather populated with a number of curious items. Shelves, multiple pine rectangular boxes. There's a set of armor. Two of them actually. A pair of rifles sitting up against the shelves, and helmets that look just a bit premodern."Looks like we found the treasure, colts." Posey shouts back, inviting the other ponies in after her.
Posey moves through the room, and proceeds to the next door
"His coffin should be here somewhere."
>>169982It's an alarm spell, activated by entering a warded area.
August enters, though he looks confused, like he didn't expect this.
The other ponies follow behind, but Posey can tell that they are descended from prey animals... frankly, they still are prey animals. They look paranoid, and easy to spook.
The door to the next room is actually unlocked this time.
>>169983>It's an alarm spell"Say... Was this vampire a mage, by any chance?" Posey asks, nervously
"That was an alarm spell..."
Regardless of this, Posey proceeds through the next door.
>>169984"No." August answers bluntly.
On the stone wall, and on the wooden door, Posey sees the movement shadows, evidently of her teammates following right behind her. These shadows must only be blocking one electric torch of several illuminating the wall, because the shadows are a light grey, only blocking a part of the light against the wall. She can hear the clanking of armor behind her, the sound of a sword being pulled, and then the sound of a rifle being cocked behind her, a sign her teammates are ready to enter the next room with her.
Posey opens the door to see a comparatively large cavern. Dim moonlight shines through a hole in the top, and part of it comes down on a coffin, although several can be seen. Throughout the cavern, Posey can see, through the black and of her darkvision, the silhouettes of creatures standing up, and looking over towards Posey. She can make out slim but solid bodies, raised ears, and golden eyes. It were as if she had awoken a number of cats, although these are larger than cats, and more numerous. Every now and then, a streak of light from the electric torches, or from the moonlight, hits one of these creatures, and exposes yellow or pink matted fur, or a weathered pine coffin, or a chiseled limestone wall that has been completely covered in scribbles. What Posey does not need the electric torch to see is the dozen golden eyes that open, and rise above the rock floor.
Then Posey hears sounds from the ponies. "Fuck!" "What is that?" And "Oh shit, did you see that?" And she hears the sounds of August's armor clanking, him unsheathing a sword, and multiple ponies working the bolt of a rifle. And she can hear that her teammates and August are not, in fact, right behind her, despite what she heard before. The cowards have barely entered the room and are much further behind. Certainly have seen nothing that Posey has in the next room.
>>169986Posey rolls knowledge (Arcana) to identify these creatures
[1d20+7 = (2+7) = 9]And Religion, in the even that they're undead
[1d20+7 = (11+7) = 18]And then promptly closed the door, deciding to deal with this after she addresses whatever her teammates saw, hoping the door will delay them.
"Yeah.... There's a bunch of monster cat-things in there... Coffins too... Coffins, plural..." Posey announces
>>169987She can't really tell. They are solid, so either not undead, or something like thralls, vampire spawn, or zombies.
Her teammates are frankly seriously spooked and have not the slightest idea what waits in the next room.
"Careful! You could hit the botanist."
"Fuck her!"
And a third pony
"I thought we'd have Fascist goons at worst! What are these?"
>>169988Well, I guess I may as well try and use this feature
Posey opens the door, and flashes her symbol
Rebuke Undead
Rolling
[1d20+6 = (13+6) = 19]
>>169989Posey Rebukes undead as a 10th level Cleric.
Rolling Turning Damage
[2d6+10+4]
Since turning is considered an attack, this would activate her frightful presence, in case they're not undead.
>>169992Well, I was, until you asked that just now...
Gonna roll Intelligence to see if Posey would be smart enough to know why this is a bad idea:
[1d30+3 = (17+3) = 20]
>>169994Six creatures creatures, plausibly undead, they should have already seen us. Moonlight implies and entrance above. Coffins in the room... Ghouls, maybe? Rebuking would give an advantage in combat.
The vampire should have had spawn. Perhaps these are his thralls.
Posey looks behind her, to check if there is anything obvious she's missing.
GM, I'm getting tired here, can I get a hint from that Int check?
Also, I know you're about to make a new thread, so I think maybe we should pick up again tomorrow.
>>170000I roll to boop the pony on the snoot
[1d20+5 = (17+5) = 22]
>>169996Posey turns to see that behind her are the spectral forms of four soldiers - four soldiers who clearly are not from Posey's posse, nor the Military, but take the form of bygone wars. These ponies are not solid matter, but blacked silhouettes with dark grey eyes. The weapons and armor they wield are physical implements binding them to this realm.
Two of them hold bolt action rifles, albeit rusted and war damaged and of an older and likely foreign design. One has the form of a pegasus, and in the light of the torches it can be seen that he wears a uniform that must have been green in color with red shoulder patches, and a green and pointed hat. The other is an earth pony who wears a white uniform with black patches, and a white cap with a black trim. Only the rifle is made of matter.
Besides these are two soldiers in armor. One is a unicorn who wears a set of plate armor, a shield with a sun on it, and wields a longsword. The other is a pegasus with Lamellar armor, a pointed metal helmet, and a spear. The weapons and armor are dull and rusty, though as before, they are solid and well defined, while the shadow is not.
Posey's teammates are directly on the other side of these entities. Not helpful, given where the bullets go if they miss... or rather, should the bullets pass straight through.
>>170004Can Posey redirect her Rebuking check to these creatures instead?
>>170005Also, rolling Religion, to determine the type of undead
[1d20+7 = (4+7) = 11]
>>170005She could
It might be worth thinking about whether she'd rather rebuke the creatures in that room, or this one>>170006Incorporeal, and tied to possessed physical objects.
>>170007Well, she can simply close the door on the creatures in the room. Also, I would like some incorporeal pets, if possible.
>>170005>>170006Should Posey rebuke the undead, she could certainly rebuke or even command one or more
>>170009She rebukes them
With an effective Cleric level of 10, anything with 5 or less effective HD should be commanded. Anything that isn't TPK level should be rebuked.
Posey can control a max of 7 HD, reminder that term resistance doesn't apply to max HD commanded.
With 24 HD effected, this might actually be enough to effect the creatures in both rooms, although she can only control 7 HD.
>>170010All four of the spectral soldiers lower their weapons to a more relaxed position, and stare at posey, even as they lower their heads and assume a cowed position.
The members of the ELF team are themselves spooked and awed. August has a wide smile across his face.
>>170011Are they commanded, or just rebuked?
If they're commanded, Posey would know telepathically.
>>170012Two commanded, the other two rebuked.
>>170013>"Hide beneath the floor, until I call for you."Posey speaks to the incorporeal soldiers telepathically.
"These goons are going to hold for exactly one minute!" Posey shouts back
"And the other room is full of monsters, although with bodies this time." She continues.
GM, I'm too tired to go any further. I gotta sleep now.
Today was fun. Maybe we could try again tomorrow, if we have the time.
>>170014The two obey, and seep beneath the floor, leaving their weapons and armor behind.
If which ones are commanded is determined by proximity to Posey, this would be the knight in armor, and the white soldier with the rifle, as they were moving forward to attack Posey. The soldier in lamellar and the green and red uniform were moving to attack August, who was on the other side. Of course, it could be any two.
The ELF team members look onto Posey with a bit of confusion and awe, and yell things like "They are scared of you!" "What happened?" And "There's more of them?!" August simply smirks in silence and moves forward.
>>170015>Today was funYay! I did something right
Sure, I think I'll be able to continue tomorrow
>>170016Incorporeal entities dropped corporeal weapons and armor? Interesting. Those might be ghost touch items, in which case we're rich.
Rolling religion (free action) to see why.
[1d20+7 = (2+7) = 9]"Yes, there's more in the next room. Go to the door, stick your guns in, and light up the room." Posey says
