Khoi is visibly young, and barely looks like a mare at all, being almost a filly and still somewhat adolescent. The age difference between the two is extreme and undeniable, with Khoi being younger than Silver's daughter. There's also the difference in race between the two creatures, and while generally more socially acceptable than say, a griffin male and a pony mare, may still be resented by pony mares and kirin stallions who think their stallions and mares are being stolen from them.

The Kirin sits the two down in a grove by the waterfall. Khoi walks slowly, looking around the restaurant, and taking all of the sights in. The waterfall provides background noise, though thankfully it isn’t very loud, sounding more like a trickle.
As she sits down in her chair, Silver can understand the logic of Khoi’s dress. It exposes her chest floof, her upper shoulders, snd parts of her belly so that her coat may be seen, while covering her flank, back, and hindquarters, and flowing onto the floor.
