The site's policy on anonymity and logs means it's physically impossible to ban anything but the node used to access the site, which is hashed so even admins don't know. And of course, when one is banned, all he has to do is fire up whatever service he uses, whether it be a VPN, proxy or TOR Browser, and then he's back to posting. Banning him is nothing but a counter-signal and as such does nothing. He has to leave of his own volition whether he gets ignored until he's bored or is bullied off.

I know I've tried drumming up traffic before in a fair few threads, threads which have effort put behind making it open-ended and encouraging discussion, and most of the time it's on topics that actually ought to have a positive effect. This predates Boom Boom's presence at all; hell, part of the reason I went homeless was because I wanted to test out a financial plan and split income with someone to be an example. Fat lot of good that year long shitshow was. I shit on Boom Boom because he literally does nothing worth praising, nothing that improves morale, nothing that encourages discussion, and never actually engages in good-faith discussion. The only way to get a response from him at all is to shit on him, at which point....what's the point, he gets off on the (You)s. Frankly I regret stooping to his level in the flat earth thread.

I know this point is a popular one. And I get the idea: if the issue is that every post is from one guy, make more posts to drown him out. But he's literally a boomer who spends all day every day posting because his pension is in the mail.
