>>174993And I'm back. Should be no further interruptionsThis is important. Salty Mixer will understand, surely, Amber repeats to herself. That's one nice aspect of unicorns at least, being able to laminate documents quickly.
>>174991Hmm. Might still be worth trying them out, Kira is sufficiently curious.
Survival: Kira tries sniffing and tasting the air one more time, this time specifically searching for any notes of cumin, turmeric, cinnamon, or ginger.

"Alright, anyone else want anything?"
>>174994Technically… a machine is laminating the card. The unicorn’s magic is doing something else that’s harder to discern.
Kira flicks her tongue in the air. She can taste the herbs the ponies categorize as spice… for some reason… and also… is that cumin? Wait. No. That’s Neela. Not sure why she’d smell like cumin. But she definitely smells like a cervine. A rather tasty cervine…
Kira can taste chili powder, some kind of chemical that’s presumably used to clean the floors, and the pervasive smell of ponies. It’s a good thing Kira is not habituated to associate the smell of equines with food, because otherwise, the smell would be maddening.
But there are no familiar spices.

“Maybe some of what you are cooking.”
>>174997No pony's curiosity has been satisfied by silence.
"What is the magic for?" she asks.
>>174998The unicorn answers
"A kind of 'water mark' if you will. To help discern real IDs from fakes and prevent forgeries."
