Set six years after season 6, Occupied Equestria presents an alternative history where the Changelings have conquered half of Equestria, while a former Equestrian colony - soured to Princess Twilight's notion of harmony with all creatures because of their encounters with griffins - Invaded and took the other half. In Baltimare and the Equestrian Southeast, the magic of friendship has weakened, as Communists, Changeling infiltrators, Fascists, gangs, and corrupt creepy politicians threaten the city. This role play is based in large part upon the Equestria at War mod for Hearts of Iron 4, and uses D&d 3.5e mechanics
In the North, in Bales, Brie has just aquired a carriage with which he shall make the journey into the Changeling Occupied Zone, alongt with Spark and Onyx. In Baltimare, Dark Star recouperates from injuries sustained in a near fatal encounter with a Changeling opperative. Silver helps treat two traumatized orphans, and Iron examines ancient secrets in the Jungles

>>104237>>104239>>104240Changlings should Be Gassed, No Matter how """Cute"""
>>104259I think it would have been interesting to have Dark Star and Silver discuss the Changeling question with the two colts and Blue Skies present.... but that opinion may not be universally shared
>>104261Hmmmmmmmmm
>>104260That would have been interesting.
>>104262>Ominous hummingDon't!
>Would have been interestingEh, probably not. One would say 'Changies are nice and cuddly creatures like us
aka they have equine consciousness' and the other would say 'No, they don't. They burned my house down so they have to die!"
>tfw you have to delet a post because you forgot to reply to someone else>>104263>ChangiesDo you realize the scope of what you have just done?
>>104260It would be interesting, I suppose, so long as there wasn't any emotional breakdowns by any of its participants or observers.
Might need to prepare some arguments in case that discussion happens. Also gonna ask this in case you missed my comment about it: what exactly did you mean by "write-off"?
>>104265Not really.
If zonies already exists, why not Changies?
>>104265The phrase “write-off” is a colloquialism that means “to consider something to be a total and complete loss.” It meant in context that the entire venture and all commentary on it would just be dismissed as a waste of time and keystrokes, and thought of no further
>>104267Oh. Sorry, I didn't mean for you to do all that.
>>104266That's what you meant by that? I thought you were just coming up with a new cute nickname for the bug hoers.
>>104268I thought the opposite, actually.
I said the nickname, then you pointed out the possibility of Pony-changelings hybrids.
I think I've already used it before. >>104269But I never mentioned anything about pony-changeling hybrids.
Have you? >>104270Not really, but you pointing out the 'scope of what I have just done' made me think that.
>>104271Nah, I was just referring to how you had managed to come up with probably the best nickname for changelings I have seen yet.
>>104272>>104271Yea its a pretty good NickName.
>>104272>>104273Aw thanks gaiz.
It simply popped in my mind when I wrote it. No big brain thinking or anything of the sort.
Okay, who wants to play tonight?
>>104242Silver takes a look at the brief description of The Synthetic Mares of the Moon on the back cover. A part of the larger Non Starter series, the book centers on the moonstrider warrior Vir Doge, who, along with Non Starter, seeks out a scientist by the name of Rad Thaddeus. They find that Thaddeus is residing in the ruined city of Mobius, where he has constructed an army of incredible synthetic moonmares, the Ponen. The Ponen have since taken control, and are forcing Thaddeus to help them contruct an army for conquest of the moon. Vir Doge and Starter are both captured, and Vir Doge's brain is transferred to synthetic construct of its own, frustrating a budding romance with another captive. Eventually, they are able to escape back to the civilization of Ulthar, and firebomb Mobius and its Ponen.
>>104278Just reading that is enough to make Silver's eyes spin. He puts it back to see what "Grogar the Barbarian" is all about, hoping that it will seem less confusing.
>>104279Also Sword and Sorcery Highish fantasy, set in a distant and fabled past
>>104280"This seems good." Silver decides to take this one.
>>104282>>104281SighWell okay then. It's actually one of a larger set
>>104285Okay, so Silver presumably selects a fantasy novel or set of novellas
>>104286If perhaps one with depictions of looser sexual morality... actually looser morality generally, than the morality plays of old High Fantasy
>>104289...Okay, nevermind then, Silver is
not going to buy that book. Let's see what "To Where and Back Again" is about.
>>104290A fantasy if ever there were one, the book centers upon a rag tag group that comes together to defeat Chrysalis after it seems she has already won
>>104291"This is book to consider." Only two more books to look at out of those mentioned: 'Last Horizons' and 'The Once and Future Princess'.
>>104292Last Horizons is already detailed
>>104233The Once and Future Princess is a set of of novellas about the legendary Unicorn princess Gusty the Great, who defeated the Empire of Tambelon alongside the sorcerer Megan, in those ancient days before the first Hearths-warming
>>104293Silver has stars in his eyes upon seeing this series. He decides that he'll buy the first one in the series for White Orchid to try out, and if he like it, he'll buy him the rest.
>>104294And thus History proves once again to be a more interesting backdrop of a story than... pretty anything else, really
>>104296Fiction can only
hope to be as interesting as history.
Anyways, if the rest of the items on Silver's list have been taken care of, I think he's ready to meet back up with the colts at the register(s).
>>104297A fairly mundane set of items, except.... Mint Marine has taken the opportunity to acquire snorkeling gear, a full model sailboat, a lantern, a set of what looks like a Lincoln Log frontier fort, a net in a sort of butterfly catcher, and a toy dinosaur. White Orchid has gone even further, selecting what seems to be an entire tent, winter mittens, a cap gun, a cap gun if a different model, a toy sword, a swashbuckling toy sword, a toy EMD6 locomotive, another set of toy train cars, a toy switching post and basically a number of toy railroad items that only make sense if you already own a toy train set, a group of building blocks that click together, a toy soldiers of both ponies and changelings, a toy day gun, two different models of toy hats, and a cylindrical rocket-shaker toy spaceship
>>104299Silver probably should have expected this, but it's still enough to cause his eyes to go the size of dinner plates. He decides to voice the two most pressing questions, first: "How are you two going to carry all of that back?", and "Where are you two going to store all of that?"
>>104300They look back at him with pleading eyes that say “if we can carry the heavy burden of our suffering and growing up without families, then surely we can handle the weight of a few toys.”
But more realistically Silver will need to carry most of it for them
“We were hoping you could help us with that...”
>>104301Silver sighs. This is going to be a bad day for his body as well as his mind. "I have no idea where you will store it, but...let us see how much this all costs, at least."
>>104304That's...actually doable. Although Silver questions why this toy store has such a massive selection, his sanity is at a weak enough state where he just goes along with it. He pays for it with 200 in paper notes, asking for his change to be in coins.
>>104305Clearly Silver has not been to the Shenanigans toy store before. The diamond dog cashier is a little irritated to be handed script, but returns one 20 bit note and 13 bits in change
>>104306Silver offers an apology for his current lack of actual coins. He knows how much diamond dogs like their shinies.
With that, Silver gathers up what the colts can't carry. They certainly do have a load of possessions, now, a lot related to their particular interests, at that. "You both certainly found plenty of things to buy in store, here."
>>104307The two ponies look pleased, or at least as pleased as they did just before the catastrophic conclusion of the zoo trip.
“We don’t get toys very often...”
>>104308Silver smiles at the apparent turn-around in their mood. "Well then, consider this my treat. Oh, and take these. I almost forgot to give these to you." Silver gives Mint the candy bar he bought, and he gives Orchid the bag of gummy candies.
>>104309The little ponies wrestle the candies with their hooves and tear them apart with their mouths, until soon enough Mint Marine looks as if his muzzle fell into mud, and White Orchid chews with yellow, green, and red gummies hanging from his mouth
>>104310Silver is very glad he is not those candies right now. "Hmm. You two might need napkin, or else some place to wash up."
>>104311The little ponies look up at Silver with big, cute eyes
>>104312Silver feels just a little bit more life inside of him after that. "Hmm. Well, give me minute to look through bags for something." Silver does exactly that, stopping to take a look through his saddlebags for any more napkins he has left over. He might need to invest in some more after this.
>>104313Why would Silver have napkins on him?
>>104314Just checking.
"Hmm...we might need to stop somewhere where you two can wash up. I am not sure what nuns would think upon seeing your faces like that."
>>104315They blink, and continue looking st Silver
>>104316I mean, I kinda figured this was beyond that point, but alright...>>104317"Or..." Silver commences the ol' parent washup trick: licking the side of his hoof and using it to wash their faces. "Hold still, please."
[1d20 = 8]>>104319Well, this is sure to go "swell".
>>104320Well... not a complete job
[1d20 = 13]>>104321Whelp...what else to do about a stubborn mess besides try again and fail miserably!
>>104322This leads to a mostly clean muzzle, with perhaps a spot or two here or there, but the bulk of the mess cleaned up
>>104323"There. Acceptable, at least. Ready to head out?"
>>104221"Iron? The large native?"
>>104325"Sure"
Mint marine at least still needs a hug, maybe they both do, but they are ready to head back
>>104326Oh, right. What kind of pony would Silver be if he didn't give the poor colts each a big, floofy hug?
>>104329Fine...
*Poners are presumably hugged, either individually or together*
>>104330Eh...okay? Well, with the hugs taken care off, I guess it's time to head off for the orphanage.
>>104331And thus, it is so. Here's to hoping Silver can meet with Dark Star... eventually.
Among other things that will need to be coordinated >>104332Shouldn't be that difficult. Dark Star knows where Silver is going to be, and he's on right now.Silver looks to the two colts as they approach the orphange. "Thank you for going out on this little galivant with me. I had fun."
Okay, I am going to sleep
Now I have to contemplate whether to continue with Iron, or to to review cases
>>104346Don't be a dummy. Review those cases.
>>104352I think there are doctors trained to help with that problem.
I got to plan out how I am going to do this rescue mission, perhaps alone if no one else shows up.
>>104355You can do it! With the power of Strength, Hope, and Friendship
>>104355You are the second best option for the job, honestly.
Just roll that bluff and some forged documents and you should be good to go.
>>104357The problem is she was denied with the right documents. They just didn't have use for her crossing. So I will have to find a way around the obvious solution.
>>104356But what do you do when friends are absent?
>>104358There's always using the big ass wagon to hide her.
Bluff your way into avoiding the search or at least minimize it, then you cross the border with her to get that sweet victory royale.
Maybe some XP, too. >>104360We would have to cross three times then. Once to get to where she is, once back to her sister, and once more to continue the quest. That would raise the alert to us pretty fast.
>>104361Bluff some more. You are a charisma-based character, use your above-average charisma!
>>104362That could work... though I hate relying on that dice luck so much. But it's worth a shot.
>>104356What do you think? Would that action be allowed?
>>104357This. The only other two nearly as able are Brie and Dark Star, and they don have magical options.
>>104358>>104359The post with the information is
>>103945, besides that Spark can gather more information
>>104363I do not know what action you are talking about
>>104364The action in
>>104360>gather more informationHmm.... I got no idea as to what else I need to gather, but I am guessing there is more to be had if you mentioned it.
Spark ponders for a moment.
"How tight was the security there? Where they checking carts and ponies thoroughly?"
>>104365"The security is really strange They had at least seven guards on that side of the border plus more elsewhere and you can see what is on this side They would quickly check the carts as they left and would question the ponies who left They would ask "why are you leaving?" That's how my Cinnamon Heart was stopped They said she didn't have a good enough reason to leave But they let us through even though we had similar reasons And Cinamon Heart had her papers! It does not make sense to me But yeah when you cross to the Pony side the guards here ask you a lot of questions Like where did you come from have you ever been a member of certain political parties would you pledge loyalty and so on It was really intimidating but they let us through..."
>>104366"Did you see anypony get special treatment going through the line? Anypony that wasn't searched or questioned as hard as the rest?"
>>104367When Spark asks this question, something incredible happens. The nameless Pink pony
stops talking. She blinks, and she stands back. Then:
"Yes! Yes! There were stallions two of them who were allowed to go through after only a few questions by the Changeling guards They presented documents to the Changeling guards and they looked closely at the documents and they said "you can go" and they went I think they had fancier clothes on and they looked like they had not been drained recently or perhaps ever When they got through to the otherside they were not taken aside to be asked questions like we were but they showed their documents and had a flashlight shined over their eyes and they were allowed to go..."
>>104369"Did you catch where they went?"
>>104368Blep
>>104370“The ponies that went through? Yes! They went ahead of us and past security into Bales where it is safe and at least the ponies are ruled over by ponies unlike my poor Cinnamon Heart who is stuck at the border point...”
>>104372How does minor magic tricks get her by as a changeling? And I would assume they wouldn't be changeling if they were checked my the flashlight trick.
>>104371"If I got those papers... perhaps I could manipulate them to get her though easier. But it sounds like they have a bit of a head start."
>>104373"Do you.... need to find those ponies?"
>>104374"Hiding your sister from the searches sounds like a task that has a slim chance at the very best. If I found those ponies and took their papers, then we would have a much better chance. I don't want to get your hopes up for a rescue and not give you the best chance I can get you."
>>104375"Ah eh ohhhhkay.... I need to see my sister and get her back she means so much to me"
>>104373Use prestidigitation to fake the changeling glow when flashlighted. If they ponies pretending to be bugs, they get kicked out. Some changelings can't afford to lose their disguise in a public area, you know?
>>104376"Do you have any idea where they went specifically?"
>>104377True, but again, how do we know they were changelings? Besides being let through and them looking rich, e don't have solid proof either way. They could be rich ponies that helped one or both sides financially. I only get one shot at the fake, so if they aren't changelings and I do the trick, then it is pretty much ruined. I need to learn who they are first.
>>104378I guess that is a likely possibility.
However, you may have to try the flashlight trick to them in case they
are bugs that can't afford to lose their disguise.
>>104378"They went into the city...."
>>104380"I don't think your sister has time for me to search the city. I guess I will just have to plan another way through."
>>104381"What were you wanting to do there are ponies that go through quickly all the time just wait for one to go through quickly"
>>104382"Hmm... why are so many going through quickly? But yes, I will catch the next one let through without a hitch."
Did the bat have a flashlight?
>>104383Probably? Check the cart
"Oh yes! Thank you thank you"
I have crawled out of a shallow grave, only partially looking like a lich.
Now, where is Onyx?
>>104384>>104385Spark heads to the cart.
"Hey there bartender. Want to help me out with a little something?"
Spark begins searching the cart for a flashlight.
>>104386"I guess, what do you need?"
>>104387"We need to drag a pony or two that might have special border crossing privileges off to the side for a little chat. And you are the type that can do the dragging and probably the chatting."
>>104389"Heh, sounds like the recipe for a good time. I'm in"
>>104390"Good. We just have to find where there is the swiftest traffic out of the changling lands and see why they get through so fast."
>>104391Your mlems are going to be put on hold for the time being. Illgeal Border crossing simulator time!
>>104391Don't let him seize your mlems like this! First they come for your mlems, then your boops, then before you know it, you can't even cuddle a hoers. This must be stopped!
Kind of just died there for some reason
>>104397Awwwww....
Then let me help.
Spark goes tot he border and observes the ponies that walk out.
>>104398A moment of nothing
A pony (a dulled if pastel green) comes through from the Changeling side, and is taken to the side to be questioned by a Pony in beige uniform
A pony comes through from the changeling side, is very quickly checked, has his eyes checked, and is let go long before the first pony is sent out of questioning
>>104399>>104390"There is one now. Let's give him a few questions of our own."
>>104400>>104401The pony casually trots along, following the main thoroughfare
>>104403Spark steps in front of him.
"Mind if I had a word, good sir?"
>>104401I nod to Onyx.
>>104404Onyx stands next to the pony, trying to look as intimidating as he can
"It'll just take a moment sir"
He forcefully sets a hoof on his shoulder
"As long as you comply"
>>104404He looks startled. It's a relatively thin earth pony stallion of a beige color similar to the uniforms worn by the Ponies and some of the Griffins. He is wearing a black wool jacket, and looks uncertain but not off put. Until
>>104405. Then he's worried
>>104406"You have nothing to worry about. Just answer some questions and you will be on your way."
>>104408"Just a curious pony. Very curious about how you got through security so quickly when there are some ponies being denied for the slightest inconvenience or if the guards just don't feel like it. What's your trick?"
>>104409He pauses for a moment, but then, he relaxes a little as his tension eases up
"I go through on a special 'friendship' visa. You see, before the war, I lived with my Father-in-Law across the river in Bales, but worked as an operator in a grain mill on the other side of the river. When the zones were split, my residence was on the Bales side, so I was made a Bales District citizen. But my work was on the Changeling side, in Boulder Field. They let certain residents in the Border District have special visas that would allow them to live in the New Mareland Occupied Zone, but work in the Changeling Zone. I didn't have anywhere better to work, and the mill is still open, so I commute between the two zones for work, sometimes staying on the other side for a few days, sometimes commuting in a day. Some other ponies also have these visas, mostly either merchants who are trying to import and export things across the border, or certain skilled workers like forestry agents who have special work permits to go into the Changeling lands. the ponies who are sometimes turned away are mostly emigrants who want to leave the Changeling Zone for the Bales District. There isn't really a formal law baring
most of them from leaving... yet, and there is no law preventing them from immigrating to the Bales District, but the Changelings do not like their livestock jumping its fence. The ponies who are allowed to cross are often drained first and have their stuff taken. They've also started denying some ponies any crossing at all, usually those with weak claims for why they want to migrate. They like to separate families in retaliation for the migration, and also in hopes that the one left behind will still have a strong love for those that go to the otherside."
>>104410"Are there any papers that get you across easier?"
>>104410"And so, there is no effective way to forge the friendship visa, because they could simply trace your claim to the place of work to confirm you are indeed a worker..."
>>104411"Well... I would imagine a letter of employment, for instance, would show that somepony on this side cared. As would something like a marriage certificate for a pony on this side, or a letter from a relative. Something giving them a claim to this side. And of course, proof of citizenship on this side."
He takes a deeper look at Onyx Steel
"Say... You're a crystal pony. I take it you already know something about getting across the border"
Yes. He just assumed onyx's birthplace based on racial profiling>>104412"They can investigate, yes. For travelling merchants who are self employed, they simply look to whether the pony was admitted across the border before. Any pony with a friendship visa has, by definition, first entered the Changeling lands before trying to leave it later, so they look to proof that you were admitted by their customs"
>>104413Rude yet extremely effective "A few things, yes. Do you have any examples of some papers we could look over?"
>>104414"... No? I've never had to immigrate since I was made a Bales citizen when the Princesses fell and darkness spread. I would think just ask an employer or close relative to write a letter and notarize it. They do have a tendency to actually try to verify that these people and places exist though."
>>104413>crystal pony ought to know about getting across the border"It wouldn't be as much of a problem if we were the ones crossing. But this is for one of those ponies that got a family separated, if not more. I figured before we head off into their land, I ought to help a couple ponies escape it."
>>104416"Oh... I see" He looks a little sad, but also a little relieved and less tense
>>104415>>104416"What do you mean- Nevermind, Spark, a word?"
He leans in and whispers in Spark's ear
"If I get a look at some documents I can try to make some copies for us"
>>104418"Good. I don't see any other option."
>>104417Spark takes notice of his reaction.
"What is it?"
>>104420"It isn't quite the reaction to our plan as I expected. I figured you would either be very much against us or sort of for it, but you seem just hesitant."
>>104421"Why would I be against it?"
>>104422"If we mess this up, we might make the border conditions worse. More families could be separated. More ponies will be kept from going. We have to make sure we pull this off right."
>>104423"Then I guess there's no time to waste, and no room for error."
>>104423>>104424"No. They get ponies trying to cross every day. A lot of ponies trying to cross actually. There's even Equine smugglers who are paid to help ponies cross illegally. There's a lot of fraud. That's why the Changelings have begun to build a wall" he points to the 18 foot mostly steel plate wall "to keep ponies from crossing... though these only exist in the urban areas, and they check every pony that tries to cross."
>>104425"Consider us freelance Equine smugglers for the day. We put the free in freelance you could say. We want to help out before we need to cross for some business... and we don't even have permission to do that. You could say we have a death wish, but we aren't going out until we help somepony."
>>104426"oooookay then. Don't let me get in your way"
>>104426"Death wish is a great way to put it"
>>104427"Oh trust me, I wouldn't let you. Now, to get some papers"
>>104426>>104428"You can get papers. If you are convincing enough, you might even be able to show up in person and convince the guards to let them through"
>>104429I don't think Onyx has been nibbled on yet
>>104431"Then I say we at least try. Spark, what should we try now?"
>>104432"Let's go with your forgery and I will try a performance to get a pony through should it not work. But I think it is a one time act before they see through it."
>>104433"Sounds good to me, all I need is some paper and writing stuff"
>>104434"There should be some kind of shop for that in town if we don't have any. It won't take long."
There's not going to be a post linking to mine declaring a specific action, is there?
>>104436We go get paper from the paper store.
>>104436Now that you've pointed it out, they will!
Hopefully for at least the rest of this session. >>104436Onyx and Spark are making a visit to the Paper Emporium and Quills & Sofas.
>>104437A stationary shop can be found in the neighborhood of Red Fields (Red Fields being the part of Bales that is on the Pony side but on the other side of the river). It's on a street right across the river, with a large window. Going inside there is a sky blue unicorn colt of teenage years at the cash register.
"Hello there!" he waves "What can I get for you?"
>>104439Unfortunately it does not look as if this particular outlet sells sofas. Sadly it looks as if the shop specialization that has resulted from the greater population of Bales has actually resulted in a less convenient buying experience for all those ponies who need to buy both a quill
and a sofa. If only there one a mega-store that allowed for a one stop shopping experience
>>104440"My friend is looking for some paper. I'm sure he knows the kind he is looking for."
>>104441"Oh. Okay. Where is your friend?"
>>104441>>104440"Some normal stationary and some heavier paper that'd you'd see used for official documents and certificates would serve me nicely"
Blue Skies is best pony (again)!
>>104443"Oh yes, we have many types of paper. We have the 125 grams per square meter paper - a pretty dense one. We have the 165 grams, and a 215 grams - that's usually used for business cards. And we have standard copy paper sizes of a 12 by 11 inch, or legal papering, and other sizes"
>>104444Checked as I'm flipped off by a horse
>>104446"Uh, lemme get some sheets of 125 in legal size"
>>104449“Okay”
The somewhat excited pony moves from behind the counter towards a shelf, and with a glow of yellow magic, removes some eggshell colored paper
“Here. Legal sized 125 GSM”
Doesn’t doesn’t know why the pony is using Communist units of measurement, but he does receive paper
Strange. Is Spark still considering all the variables of creating a fake document?
>>104451Spark is kill. Press F to pay respects
I'll take this chance to keep the post where I specify Iron's current point, which is
>>104252>>104455>Thinking Iron can rest uninterrupted in his own nightmares, in a pitch black cavern once thought to be an entrance to HellIt’s cute that you think that
>>104456As an outside observer, I can only vaguely remember if this sequence was supposed to be a dream or not.
>>104461I don’t know if that is Brie, but if it is, both Onyx and Spark have absconded in a conspiracy to commit immigration fraud/equine trafficking. Brie meanwhile, should contemplate the information he gained during his questioning
very carefully
\r
Stuff like this is why it sucks that there are no German Pony nations in EaW.
>>104463But it includes not one, but
three German themed nations or sets of nations, including one based somewhat off of Nazi Germany, one based off the Holy Roman Empire, and like two based off of the Teutonic crusader states, besides another one based off the Hanseatic League
\r
>>104464Yeah. But they're not ponies.
>>104456Well crap. Now I'm regretting resting here. Welp, can't back down now!
>>104465>>104464Dread League best nation.
>>104450Welp, I hope I picked the right one. Now to see how much the dice fuck me up tonight
>>104470Dread League was insanely difficult to play before an update last December. Thankfully now it’s much easier to find play
>>104471I gotta admit, the griffons getting lend-lease will definitely throw a wrench in your carefully oiled skeleton. But other than that I rather enjoy them.
