The US has intervened in subtle ways before. It's no secret the DEA and other alphabet agencies rule the drug trade. But the US also trained anti-communist militias before. "Guardias Blancas" were US funded and the "Batallón Olimpia" was aided by the CIA.

The numbers seem fucky to me. But then in the 1990s I spent a few years living in a smallish city of <150,000 in the southeastern US that had nearly 100 murders a year. Yes, the demographics are what you're imagining. Yes, the vast majority of the killings were NHI resulting from TNB. The city was de facto segregated and if you didn't go south of Monkey Looter Koon Boulevard you'd probably be okay, though there was a big college campus adjacent to what we will euphemistically call "the bad part" where there were numerous carjackings, gang-rapes, and murders of white girls from out of state, most of which were hushed up pretty completely by the local pols and newsmedia. It was easy to keep that kind of info hidden in the era before the Internet, of course. All that was really needed was not to print it in the jewspapers and order the hired TV news talking heads not to talk about it on the televitz.
If you stayed off that campus, stayed away from things with "public" in the name (public transportation, public pools, public parks, etc.) and avoided areas where you saw graffiti, you would usually probably be okay, at least if you kept your head on a swivel.
Also if we just withdrew about half the troops from places like Korea, Japan, Burkina Faso, Turkmenistan, and Kenya, and put them on the southern border instead, with appropriate rules of engagement, the backward and dysfunctional nations to our south wouldn't be our problem. For some reason, though, we can spend six gorillion dollars a second on training the Turkmenistani military, propping up the Nigerian government, and handing out $2200/month/person debit cards to 5+ million/year diseased illiterate unemployable IQ-55 "refugees" at the border, but we "just can't afford" to secure our border like every other sovereign state with a land border with any other nation has ever done in recorded history, for some inexplicable reason. Though maybe now that almost half the Mexicans-in-America vote Republican, a proportion that grows with every year, the Democrats will suddenly find the resolve to do more about the invasion than wring their hands, and start treating the Squatemalans the way they've always treated Cubans.
