>>15 >Captchpa for Spam protection Not needed at the moment. When properly set up the built in spam control takes care of bots pretty alright.
>DDos Protection I am not sure about this server but I know mine has DDoS protection as part of the package, also have it behind cloudflare. Maybe cloudfare would be a good choice for here to.
>Archive site like 4plebs or desuarchive I am not sure about this one, not everything needs to be saved. But maybe a arc board for the best of the best? I mean if something really awesome goes down there is always people screen capping.
>Multiple images per post Already in, but I plan on implementing an optional drag and drop system that will make it even easier to use.
>Visible logs on bans I will try to make this happen within the next day or 2.
>>29 On 4chan you can directly embed videos in posts. Also, the catalog fucntion on /mlpol/ seems to be inconsistently located while on the main page, catalog, and in threads.
There was activity offsite to get to the bottom of what was going on with false flagging. Do you want me to explain it here or make a new thread? It's relevant to the /mlpol/ community as a whole.
>>29 I think archive is the best method for people to stop making threads like "Hi guize I was away for few months plz spoonfeed meh", then people can go through archives and see for themselves what they missed. I'm an 2016 newfag but I managed to teach myself most of 4chan's history and background infos with desustorage
A bit more of a meta question than I would like; what happens if 4chan /mlpol/ comes back? What will come of this site? I'm already starting to like even more. It's a comfy barrack away from the war.
>>29 Ok, im just spooked about that "destruction of a group" comic Where the woman doesn't care about thr hobby, but the attention she gets for being a woman in the ingroup
Like recently a female joined the discord and quickly decided to hop on vc. No content added to the discord, no discussion, just "im a girl come listen to my voice"
>>79 Even if they make a dedicated board over there, it'll still be a shitty place. The mods will continue to be assholes. The owner will still be a greedy idiot. It'll still be a contaminant board. It's like wanting to live in a ghetto. The only positive is traffic and we could just redirect from a dedicated board.
>>29 Definitely in the camp of selective archiving here for historical purposes. In the cases of OPs & the like, screens those wishing to participate can post when/if necessary (& then even delete after; I'm a paranoid fuck) would be much better. This site catches on or garners any media interest & there's an archive of 'greatest hits' in that regard, going to paint a nice target.
Some that could be better is the catalog. The scroll bar is ugly and the text reaching down towards the thread below isn't that beautiful either.
Another things is legal protection for the owner. I don't know much about the law but maybe you should put a disclaimer somewhere that you are not resposible for any of the posts and its 18+ or something.
Third thing is an advice. If you get more janitors/mods maybe you should save the threads deleted somewhere so you can see if somebody uses his rights to harm the comunity. If someone is deleting a lot of threads you'd be able to see it.
Being as the board's a bit slow a times; it'd be nice to have the ability to edit your post. I feel like an ass reading through a thread & replying to multiple people separately, & it comes out as several comments in a row from just me; or having to keep a reply window open reading the whole thread/running text file to make it all show up as one comment. I realize it opens the door to people changing what they'd written after being called out on something; so it'd only really work if there was something akin to an(Edited)"button" that'd get added to the comment when you did that, that shows the history of edit(s) made & what the comment was before the change (potentially something akin to the image expansion from hovering over it?) Not a coder or anything, so no idea how much of a pain in the ass or any of that would be to pull off, if even possible, though.
>>391 I too want to see a greentext board, I like writefags, I'm trying to convince the other staff this would be a good idea >>394 >>398 I'll take these under advisement and ask pineapple about it
So I've been testing out cross board linking, and can't seem to get it working. >>>/mlpol/0000 doesn't work. Is there a different way of doing it on this site?
>>454 That certainly sounds fun. I remember something that sounds vaguely similar from /mlp/. Didn't pan out though, they're more interested in story than politics over there.
>>2626 A statistics view, measuring posts per hour and per day, with the previous week as a point of reference, and measurements of the posts per board, has been in place for about 8 weeks now as a feature of the moderator-dashboard. A search of the chat-log shows that at the time it was created, when asked why the feature was not made public, the developer responded "no need for it to be public at the moment. It needs to at least work first."
Serious (lol) suggestion. I motion that any attempt to claim a waifu would INHERENTLY void any PREVIOUS claim to a Waifu. Ex. Dude a has Luna. Dude then claims Rainbow Dash. Dude would then (expressly) void claim on Luna. Just a suggestion.
I don't even know if I fully support the idea yet, but I would like to suggest a site FAQ. The rules are perfect as they are and while ideally newer users will have the decency to lurk, an FAQ could quickly bridge information gaps to avoid misconceptions.
>>2876 So there is! And it very thoroughly expounds on the main site rules (exhaustively, even) while also outlining the definition (from de finis - latin:the limit) of permissible and non behavior. I must have overlooked it....
Spoiler-ed files should have their filenames changed to "spoiler image" (or something like that) so that the filename doesn't spoil the content anyway.
>>2909 >>3074 Which boards are included or excluded from recent posts on the homepage can be edited very easily; /vx/ can be excluded from the homepage during game nights and returned if necessary. >>2936 I saw it (I see everything). I am not sure I agree. Having an idea of what the spoilered content is is often helpful in determining whether you want to view it or not.
>>3085 Noted. Admittedly, I don't know that there is a problem, its more that I want to make sure that it doesn't become a problem/obstacle for the rest of the board. Tks
>The server failed to handle your upload. Curl says: Operation timed out after 14010 milliseconds with 8972 out of 377456 bytes received Why does this keep happening?
Actually, what was with this debacle? It wasn't just this thread, but several other posts were deleted. The 800000 Get was "accidently" deleted too. It looks like the situation is only escalating. I want some clarification.
>>3141 You really cannot please everyone when determining what does and does not belong on the mainboard. A couple days ago, there was a thread about the decline of quality of Rick and Morty in its third season. The thread actually had a nexus to politics because it talked about diversity hires affecting the quality of the show. It looked fine to me, but people whined and bitched and demanded it be moved to /sp/. Yesterday there was a thread about Tom Petty and his evident death, and people demanded it be moved. Earlier today there was a thread about Derpibooru being cucked, and people wanted it moved, or at least one Admin wanted it moved - it was deleted. I believe there has been more over the past several days, but I cannot remember. In any event, the thread in question was a single sentence with no obvious meaning, and no title. A far fitter candidate for /sp/ then some that had actually been moved.
>>3144 Well, simply after a mod deleted one or two posts, they could have clarified why. It would have cleared it up before anything would have bubbled to the surface, and I still don't believe it's being handled well without explanation yet someone still deletes the posts. Mind the provocativeness, but there's unneeded agitation that comes from this kind of rule.
>>3145 I'm assuming you're referring to GET theft drama? Either you have it, or you don't have it. Atlas has already weighed in and determined he does not want it. To this end it's been banned on the moderator side. But it's reappeared anyways
>>3142 Let's make a concrete rule on /sp/: If the thread is also a political discussion that couldn't happen in a regular pony thread, IT DOESN'T BELONG IN /SP/.
Is it possible to make Mlpol view-able in other languages? I know language translation programs/sites exist, but is it A. possible and B. not ridiculously complex to develop a board-proprietary language option? Certain elements are not translate-able, but for simple discussion perhaps?
>>3166 When I use foreign image boards, I just use the Jewgle translate to translate all the text on the page, but I only lurk, because I know my shitty translations would just fuck up the conversation.
>>3167 >>3168 It wouldn't need to be all languages. I don't know how complicated of an idea I'm talking, but Spanish, French, German (might get ppl arrested),... definitely Russian (you've seen the meme right?) should suffice.
>>3156 That is what I thought, but some moderators believe "it's shit, it belongs on /sp/" >>3166 >>3167 >>3168 >>3169 I asked our developers to see how well mlpol.net works with Google translate. I am not certain of the results >>3165 >>3221 I guess that is possible. Would this be a feature like bolding? >>3222 >That namefag What. Uh, I guess pink text is possible?
Might it be possible to develop a feature where an anon can be filtered site-wide? Something comparable to the existing filters, except cued to (without revealing) a poster's IP?
The site's Search system doesn't work very well. Happy the time when you enter in what feels like a very distinguishing phrase, the result comes out as "query too broad".
Could we have Invidious links added to Youtube URLs, similar to the embed function? It's useful for getting around georestrictions and also gives you a download option.
Hopefully not too much work to implement, it's just the YT URL with youtube.com changed to invidio.us.
>>4794 I'll add converting youtube links to invidious as an option for users in settings. Invidious links are already supported in new code when it comes to embedding.
>>4795 I meant adding an [invidious] link in brackets after the URL, visually similar to how embeds show up. An option to convert all links sounds nice, but if it requires changing settings most people aren't going to even know it exists.
