/MLPOL/ Movie Night
We like movie nights on Fridays. These movie nights are usually prefaced with a Pre-Stream event before we watch a movie or two, which is then normally followed by several episodes of Ponies.
Registering an account on the streaming sites we go to is not required.
The Pre-Stream for the Movie Night usually starts at 7:00pm EST.
https://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactyl is the normal room for the Pre-Stream.
The Movie Night proper usually starts at around 8:00pm or 8:30pm EST.
Location varies depending on various factors.

Excuse my lateness. I'm putting a playlist together right now.
Ready and waiting to go.
As usual, the prestream, with music, animations, and other videos from YouTube will be how we start off, then a little over an hour after we start the pre-stream will be when we start the movies.
Pony Theme of the week is Guardsmares.
https://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactylhttps://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactylhttps://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactyl
Movie schedule will be up momentarily.
>>357392I don't have a copy ready to go, but we can do it next week probably.
Alright, here is tonight's schedule:
Merrie Melodies: How do I Know it's Sunday
The Little Rascals: Fly My Kite
The Boondock Saints (1999)
My Little Pony
S2 Eps 2-3
Samurai Jack
Eps 31 and 32
Flappy's stream will be starting once more people show up, the movies will begin once that concludes. Hope to see you all there.
Goodnight. And for the record, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. And the only way to disprove that in my eyes is to live in a ted shed and find happiness there. If the authorities don't evict you from there first.
>>357398Make your friends the light, anon. Then you don't even have to wait around for the end of the tunnel. We will be here for you.
>>357399What fucking friends.
Last time I checked, my only friends were a worthless NEET who I spent a year trying to help be an adult while living in a car, and someone else who has a university education and can't manage to settle down either.
>>357400Then network out. You probably won't find much better with us, but it's a start.
>>357401Don't talk to me like I'm not probably older than you, fucknugget. How's driving cross country, making ten different discord handles and identities, joining a dozen forums, making plans and meetups, and straight up doxing myself on a regular basis sound to you? Is that "networking" enough?
>>357402Sorry for not mindreading. But in all honesty, I am not trying to talk down to you or anything. I want you to not feel like shit. If you feel like you have hit a dead end, then that mindspace is going to keep you from feeling better. I know we have some anons that own their own small businesses around if you are looking for tips or maybe even work if you are interested in that. If not, I'm not trying to pressure you or pretend that I know the magic solution to your troubles.
>>357398Ah, glad to see you're alive. Alcohol is one of the inventions as a cure all for everything. Both good, bad and strange.
When a person is spread out too thin usually mounting a defense or expansion is nigh on impossible. Too thick there is a solid ever continual achieving, yet solely concentrated on a singular target.
There is the path that is not too thin nor too thick and it's just right. Any approximation nearing that is good enough.
The subconscious unless taught and grows, repeats and obsesses. When confronted with a conundrum it'll try making do with the easiest yet wrong answer. Because that's a flawed answer it'll continue to obsess over it.
The answer boils down to everything and the cards delt with what was known then. The subconscious needs direction that's its purpose. Otherwise it'll go around trying to go provide a direction and like a spinning top keep spinning around changing direction.
It can do all sorts of things, the consciousness has one real job technically two.
First is to experience stuff.
Second is to provide conundrums.
If the subconscious has no conundrums then 'lack of conundrums' is a conundrum so it'll make problems so it'll work on them.
The subconscious wants to play what if games, the more brutal they are the better. It's specialized for certain types of work. The moment exhaustion creeps in is the point where the subconscious is most excited to do your bidding, because it is then a person can kick over the near complete sand castle really twisting in the metaphorical knife providing two bigger conundrums.
Anyway it's all fun and games no matter the 'fun' or 'games'.
>>357406First off, ENGLISH. Second, what part of homeless, financial destitution and burning hatred for everyone in my life doesn't qualify as conundrum-worthy?
I made the pre-stream longer this week mostly by accident. The result is that I'll try to start it earlier than usual. As has become habit, we'll start off with a good chunk of music, then there will be small animations and PMVs to space things out.
I've also added a partial radio play to the next few weeks of the pre-stream. Different voice actors and even added sound effects and music. I haven't seen the videos in full, so I don't remember if we get visuals to go with it.
https://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactylhttps://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactylhttps://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactylI'll be ready to start the stream as soon as a few people come by.
Pony theme of the week is WindWaker style.

We haven't heard anything from Flappy yet, but presumably he will be doing his usual prestream. Movie program will begin as usual once that wraps up. Hope to see everyone there.
>>357687Eh...probably we could. I have a couple of other movies I wanted to show first, but I can add that one to the queue if you like.
Also if anyone is interested, I made a recording of a couple of those pony-themed waiting room animations I put together. There were a couple of people last week who requested them.

>>357896Very comfy. Didn't expect it to be so comfy, in fact. Kitchen Nightmares is primo kino.
I think I'll just advertise this just in case it ends up being a regular thing too -- the ancient /mlpol/ party room on cytube is in use for miscellaneous videos and music for each other. No restrictions on it, except common video posting courtesy. I think I'll be there nightly with music while I game and stuff, just in case anyone pops in and wants to share in the fun.
https://cytu.be/r/mlpol_party_room
>>357890>>357896>>357923I'm sorry I closed the playlist yesterday leaving you guys hanging.
The theme of the week is "Terrifying Decisions" ie: images that show something happening that will have terrifying results somehow.
Room is open now. We'll start shortly.
On the menu for this half of the stream tonight I copied one of the "Best Brony Music of January 2022" playlists, that Abraham Lincoln Rageaholic video mentioned last week, and two shorter pieces of music just as a palette cleanser from the longer video.
https://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactylhttps://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactylhttps://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactyl
Movie schedule will be up shortly.
Here is tonight's schedule:
Merrie Melodies: Cartoonist's Nightmare

The point is actually not as gross as the title would lead you to believe.
Tiny Collectible Horses

Samurai Jack
Eps 37 & 38
Program will commence following Flappy's prestream as usual. Hope to see you all there.
Also, Twilight has made the terrifying decision to become a banana

Here is tonight's movie schedule:
Merrie Melodies: Hollywood Capers

Incredibly Tiny Equine Creatures Which Can Be Owned By (You)

Eps 39 and 40
Program will commence following Flappy's prestream, around the usual time.
Regarding the emotes we have in the chatroom, I'm thinking that that database could use a bit of work.
If you can think of some sort of emotes we should have images for to express things, then I'll see what I can do when I do maintenance on that. Post your suggestions and requests in the thread.
Can you play the original Planet of the Apes? It features a hoers.
>>358596>emote suggestionsWe need moar Leslie, she's a cutie horse.
>>358713I think we watched it a year or so ago, but I wouldn't mind seeing it again.
The way CyTube does emotes is with hotlinks. That's part of why I put PonerPics's thumbnails as the suggested way to get images in the chat, since those use "our" site and they're thumbnails, which minimizes server strain (I hope). I'll quickly try to find some of those leslie images on
For emotes, I didn't mean just more pictures to post, but rather tools for communicating something. Honestly, I think I need to purge a lot of the less relevant images so that it's easier to find the relevant ones. We've got some broken links, too that I need to prune.
The playlist is ready to go, and I found a YouTube source for The Tick so we can continue watching that.
Leslie is going to be the Pony Of The Week, and I'm working on the emotes now.
Here is tonight's movie schedule:
Merrie Melodies: Gold Diggers of '49
Our Gang: Free Eats
Rebel Without A Cause (1955)
A poignant film about urban decay, inspired by Kid Rock's seminal album "Devil Without a Cause" and featuring the fabulous acting of a man who would later go on to make a fortune selling microwavable breakfast sausages.
HOERES
S6 eps 12 & 13
SMMAMURAI
Eps 41 & 42
Program will commence as usual following Flappy's stream. Hope to see you all there.
Oops. Got caught up in emote pruning. I'll have my stuff up shortly.
>>358713>>358721We did do Planet of the Apes, but it was awhile ago, and as I recall we had some stream issues on the night we showed it. I'm open to showing it again. There were similar issues the night we watched American Psycho, and I think someone requested we show that one again as well.
>>358883I second American Psycho
The Pre-Stream Playlist today came out to two hours, including the two episodes of The Tick I dropped in at the end. Just letting Elway know in case it affects how he wants to build his playlist.
Pony Theme Of The Week is Celestia with Cake, as I just celebrated my birthday the other day.
>>359153Happy Birthday Flappy!!!
>>359129Alright, so that's two votes for American Psycho I think, plus I'm in a mood to watch it, so that will be the movie tonight. Since Flappy has a slightly longer playlist, I've decided to drop Our Gang this week. We will resume it next week. So without further ado, here is tonight's movie schedule:
Merrie Melodies: Alpine Antics
American Psycho (2000)The long-awaited prequel to Canadian Psycho.
Hoeres:S6 eps 14 and 15
Smamaurai:Eps 43 and 44
Program will commence as usual following Flappy's stream, same bat time, same bat channel. Hope to see you all there.
Also, Happy Birthday Flappy
I'm back here with two important news items!
First is that the streaming room is open for this week.
Second is that the Pony Theme of the Week is Guardsmares.

The Pre-Stream tonight will consist of the same pattern of MLP Fan Music, some videos, some PMVs, and then the next episode of The Tick.
The Tick
Season 1 Episode 6 - The Big Leagues - The Tick and Arthur are invited to join the League of Superheroes. Captain Liberty, jealous that she wasn't chosen, hires a top notch lawyer with the help of Batmanuel to sue The League. Unknown to either The Tick, Arthur, Batmanuel, or Captain Liberty, her lawyer is actually the Champion, the racist and misogynistic leader of The League of Superheroes. The Tick and Arthur soon figure out that The League is more of club when they won't spring into action against minor crimes, so they renounce their memberships and leave. The pair then help Captain Liberty by exposing the Champion's true identity in front of the entire law firm which results in the League opening a new group without the Champion.

Pony theme of the week is "injury", as I had a little emergency room adventure last week due to work. I'll be back on Monday, but it still feels like a major life event just happened.
I can hang out in the room early, but I should wait until the normal time
7pm Eastern before starting the playlist. That means that I'll have an open playlist until then for watching whatever until the Pre-Stream starts. If you want to mention this stream in some of your other Pony chatrooms to get a bit more movement in the chat, feel free to do so.
I've also got a different video I'd like to experiment with after the movie and Smarmara are done, if anyone's still interested in being up after that.
https://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactylhttps://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactylhttps://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactylThe room's open with an Open Playlist until the normal Pre-Stream starting time.

Also, the Pony Theme for this week will be Safety Squad.

>>360025Ouch. Here is the pony.
Hi guys, quick update: Due to an unexpected after work get-together, I might be a bit late assembling the playlist and getting things sorted. Today's been a bit of an adventure.
As a result, tonight's theme will instead be St Patrick's Day. The Safety Squad will be nearby, and will have the spotlight next week instead.
>>360076Quickly heading out to buy some Whisky and Rum. BRB.
Alright, the room's ready, the booze is flowing, and it's St Patrick's Day.

After some newer names have been showing up in the chatroom over the last couple of weeks, the idea of working on the emotes list for the newfriends came up.
I've only done a very quick skim of the emotes list and pruned a small handful of the less relevant images. What sorts of pruning do people think needs to be done to the emotes list, if any?
I started with Occult's list and have just been making small additions here and there, pruning broken links, and renaming some emotes to group them properly in the list. As far as grouping and organization of the emotes list goes, there's a bunch of work left to do on that front, but how heavy/light I should go on "sanitizing" the emote list for newer people is something I'm not sure about.
The goal here is to maintain the /MLPOL/ culture and the room's generally censorship free state while still growing the Watch Party / Movie Night population.

I was asking more along the lines of how the Movie Night regulars wanted the character of the Emotes in. The room is called /MLPOL/ WATCH PARTY, or something to that effect, so friendship windmill silliness is implied. I was wondering if the fact that it's on the front page of the emote responses would scare too many internet wanderers out of the room, whether that would attract censorious or otherwise nefarious attention to the room, and whether anyone in the room gave a fuck about it.
Also, there are some outright pornographic images in the emote list with little relevance for group conversation, and I don't know if I need to care whether the cytube owner gives a fuck.
Are those emote tags from other chatrooms that you're requesting I add to the current emote list? I just checked, and at the very least, "qt" and "bitch" do not have entries in the list, and did not have entries at the time of your posting.
Regardless, I did give the emote list a quick once-over to check for things like dead links, images that are practically never used, and images that might be better renamed so as to sort them out in the list better. There are a ton of different kinds of changes I could make, so I'm trying to really limit the scope of what I try to do when I'm opening the hood there.
>>360447>whether anyone in the room gave a fuck about itThis pretty much.
Visitors should conform to /mlpol/'s etiquette.

https://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactylhttps://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactylhttps://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactylThe premise of this week's The Tick episode is as follows:
Season 1 Episode 8 - Arthur, Interrupted - At the urging of his friends, Arthur finally "comes out" as a superhero to his family, revealing his life choice to them. They see him as crazy and immediately attempt an intervention. When he tries to leave, Arthur is forcibly taken to a psychiatric hospital. I'll be a few more minutes putting together the post for the pre-stream. This will be our finale of The Tick this week, so I want to put that in the images. The playlist is ready to go.
Alright, Lads and Germs!
Tonight is special. We have the season finale of The Tick tonight. I also found a new pony music artist with four songs out so far, which are in the playlist, and I've also put in more non-pony content this week than I expected. I'll weigh the pony content more heavily in future streams.
Without further ado, let's get the night started.

Just saying.
>>361128There was another Mel Gibson movie that's relatively recent. We could watch that at some point.
I've decided that the show we'll watch in the Pre-Stream will be ReBoot, and that we'll give the animated version of The Tick a rest for now, as we just finished a Tick series.
Also, I just found out that we just passed the one year anniversary of these pre-streams a week or two ago, so I'm making that the theme this week.
We watched the first two episodes of the animated version of The Tick and the first two episodes of ReBoot last week, but I'll give ReBoot it's "official" introduction in this post.
This is the description from the playlist:
- - - - -
ReBoot is a Canadian computer-animated TV series that originally aired on YTV from 1994 to 2001. It was produced by Vancouver-based Mainframe Entertainment, Alliance Communications and BLT Productions. The animated series was created by Gavin Blair, Ian Pearson, Phil Mitchell, and John Grace, with the visuals designed by Brendan McCarthy after an initial attempt by Ian Gibson. It was one of the world's first CGI television series.
The series follows the adventures of a Guardian named Bob and his companions Enzo and Dot Matrix as they work to keep the computer system of Mainframe safe from the viruses and other threats.
A reimagined, live-action/CGI-animated series, ReBoot: The Guardian Code, was announced in 2015,[6] and the first ten episodes debuted on Netflix worldwide (excluding Canada) on March 30, 2018.[7] YTV aired all twenty episodes from June 4 to July 5, 2018.
The series follows the adventures of a Guardian named Bob and his companions Enzo and Dot Matrix as they work to keep the computer system of Mainframe safe from the viruses known as Megabyte and Hexadecimal. The setting is in the inner world of a computer system known by its inhabitants as Mainframe. It was deliberately chosen due to technological constraints at the time, as the fictional computer world allowed for blocky looking models and mechanical animation.[8]
A recurring plot thread is when the User loads a game, an electrical violet cube lowers onto part of the city. Anyone trapped inside becomes NPCs and have the chance to stop the User. If the User wins, the area is destroyed and the residents reduced to leech like creatures called Nulls.

>>350059In light of recent MILF posting i find it adequate to bump this post
Playlist is made, putting post together now.
Hello, everyone! After another week, we have another movie night.
We'll be watching our usual mix of MLP music, animations, and a few other odds and ends in the pre-stream as well as episodes five and six of season one of ReBoot. I've done something unusual and put an entire album from a single artist in the rotation for the night to try that out. We'll see how same-y it is, and how much we want to balance that out with variety.
Image themes of the week are prison, dog, and sick, based on the episode summaries. I remember the prison episode being from the perspective of the guard, while the user is one of the prisoners, and it'll be more sci-fi than the prison images I was able to grab, but they'll do.
See you soon!

How did people find the format for the stream last night?
Specifically, putting an entire small album from one artist in the playlist. I'm thinking that I ideally want to avoid having too long a stretch of the same style of music. Albums can be great at taking the listener through a nuanced and enriching conceptual journey and all that stuff, but I'm aiming for a more casual kind of experience that doesn't require paying that close attention in order to get the most out of it.
Adding a bunch of songs just from one artist's page would be convenient, but I have a vague sense that it would limit things or change the character of the playlists too much.
>>361642>How did people find the format for the stream last night? I liked it. although i missed half of it.

The pre-stream will start probably fifteen to thirty minutes later than usual tonight. Work went late this week.
Lads and Gents, we present to you a
somewhat late stream night once again! We've still got a variety of songs and animations for you all. I found an animation channel that does cutesy stuff, and there was a 4 part series of "Ask Frigid Drift" videos, so I thought I'd toss those in.
After the MLP stuff, we have our ReBoot episodes, followed by Elway's movie selection.
The total playlist length did come to 1hr 50m when I put it together. Due to time constraints tonight, I thought it best to just go with the first "complete" feeling playlist I could come up with and not edit for time. I do try to put some structure into these playlists.
I spent all week doing flood relief work, making tons of sandbags, moving them, and building the walls. I'd prefer to use that as the theme of the week, but, again, time constraints.

Since it sounds like we'll be starting about a half hour late I've decided to chop Our Gang this week, we'll resume it next week. Here is tonight's revised movie schedule:
Loony Tunes: Porky in the North Woods
Beavis and Butthead Do America (1996)
We've technically watched this before, but I remember someone requesting it in chat recently, and it's in keeping with our "funny shit from the 90s" streak of the last few weeks.

Like usual, we have a week of music, a PMV or two, then a couple episodes of ReBoot. I tried to select this week's images from my folder based on the "Wizards, Warriors, and a Word from our Sponsor" theme of the first episode and got a little carried away.
The room is open, and we're good to go.

Hey all, I’m unfortunately not going to be able to do movie night tonight. Hopefully Flappy can run one of his backup programs, otherwise I will see you all next week.
>>362376Oh, that might be a bit of an issue. I'm doing a post work thing, (booze and wings courtesy of the boss, because having a few brews with the guys after work wasn't enough fun) so I'll be late getting home tonight. I'll see if I can co-ordinate with Occult over matrix, but I'm limited to my phone right now.
>>362382Okay, I'm home now and getting stuff together. I assume we'll either have a random stream night or we'll find some long-form content on YT. My backup hosted stream hasn't been checked on in months, and the time to work out the kinks and get it up and running probably isn't when I'm running two hours behind schedule.
I'll just slap a music compilation in there for now and post something here when I have something a bit more substantial.
Was in the 4cup stream
Uhhh there is some ai dubed episodes and uhh
I'll temperatlrly open it up
Occult is in the room and is streaming the MLP AI Redub episodes here. That'll be a good start.

>>362393You're a champ for getting _something_ playing on the stream.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For posterity's sake, I'll mention that we DID get a full playlist on there, which I saved a copy of on the CyTube playlist management tool. The show of the night was the first two episodes of Shadow Raiders, made by the same people who made ReBoot, but this would have been made a few seasons in to ReBoot, so we got to see better animation technology at play.
I just want to keep posting the episode summaries for ReBoot, and didn't have the time or mental bandwidth to do that on the fly. The movie of the night was Empire of Dust. That's the documentary where the "It's all so tiresome" meme (picture attached) came from.
The YT link I tried using for Empire of Dust was muted during the music montages, but we're lucky enough to have another champ who found a good link for Empire of Dust that had all the audio where it's supposed to be. I'm sorry I don't remember who to credit for that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For this week, I'm going to try to put together some Fluttershy-centric music and videos for the pre-stream. There's a risk that we won't have a good flow of moods in the content for the evening, but we'll see when we get there. I can slap a music playlist in there to replace that stuff if we decide that that's an issue.
I'm putting the playlist together now, and it turns out we're still a couple episodes away from the finale of Season One. One regular episode, which you're going to like since it's basically the writers complaining about the network censorship they have to deal with, and a two-parter finale.
That means that this Fluttershy-themed week will be a bit lighter on the Fluttershy content than I expected. I'll still try to get the total playlist length down to about an hour and forty-five minutes. (One hour plus two episodes.)
Alrighty folks, I'm back this week.
Here is the movie schedule for tonight. Also, since we've been doing the Our Gang shorts for awhile now and there are still a fuckton of them to get through, I thought it might be fun to take a break and watch a different show for a bit. I have another old classic series that I thought would be fun to watch, so I've scheduled that for tonight. If we like it, we can keep watching; otherwise we can just go back to Our Gang.
Merrie Melodies: Porky's Road Race

Also, we'll be finishing up Samurai Jack tonight. I'll actually be out of town for the next 2 or 3 weeks, so while I may try to pop into the stream I will not have access to my movie collection or streaming software and thus will not be able to show movies, so you guys will have to fend for yourselves for a bit. I was thinking Flappy could finish showing Ghost Hunters in the interim since there was a plan to do that anyway. When I come back, I have an anime I thought would be fun to show, we'll see what everyone thinks of it.
Also, requesting that pic 2 be made into a reaction image for the chat.
Also, program will commence following Flappy's pre-stream as usual. Hope to see you all there.
Total playlist time is just under two hours, and that was a lot of trimming. It works out to under an hour of Fluttershy content plus a bit over an hour of ReBoot.
As this is a Fluttershy themed thread, I tried to keep the focus on her as a character, showing clips from the show, and go a bit lighter on the music and PMVs. Including everything would take way too much time.
There's a Fluttershy Thread that's up over here

Season I to Season II transitionCanada: January 1995
USA: August and September 1995
Episodes 11, 12 and 13 were part of Season I in Canada - YTV showed them in January 1995 immediately after episode 10.
In the US, there were five months of reruns (March 1995 to August 1995) before ABC showed "Talent Night" on 12-Aug-95. After three more weeks of reruns, "Identity Crisis" was broadcast as the first two episodes of the 2nd season (9-Sep-95 and 16-Sep-95).
The opening was changed for the second season. Matthew Sinclair replaced Jesse Moss as the voice of Enzo starting with episode 11.
11 "Talent Night"Dot auditions several acts for Enzo's birthday party, including the guys from "Money For Nothing" and the Small Town Binomes. The binome joke, Dot's singing and the guitar duel from this episode are on the CD-ROM that comes with the action figures.
Game: none from the User.

Thank you Flappy and Elway for hosting movie night! I especially loved the showing of the entire Samurai Jack series. For those who missed it, it's the most based animated series ever produced and is definitely worth watching.
Hello everybody Dr- I mean OccultFacade here, movie night will continue.
For this Friday Feature line up is:
Short length feature: Popeye Vs Sinbad
Colorful archive footage of Popeye from Samurai Jack going back in time like the Terminator to eliminate the threat of some fatguy.
12 Angry Men (colorized and may be missing footage)
PSA on why talking to people is a dangerous activity for the communities, and how people regularly tend to fail somehow. Also anger, but in AI color.
MLP:FiM >No Hooves?! The Second Movie.
It's like Ponies, but worse! Using the power of memetic music ponies disguised as >No Hooves discover all >No Hooves may actually have hooves...
The directors cut had them be out of costume for the entire movie sadly that is lost to multiple fires and rain damage all that's left is the costumed version.
unless someone finds a better movie on the JewTube
>>363019Thanks a lot for taking over the streaming tonight. I see some stuff happened in the cytube room to gather the links.
Good news: I found an online archive of Ghost Stories, so we can still get those episodes in. We were on episodes 6 and 7 for tonight. Episode 5 was the one with the evil rabbit thing.
With these bits of good news, I'd say tonight's event is off to a magnificent start.
Another Friday, another curated Movie Night! I've got just under 2 hours of stuff, including the ReBoot episodes. Considering that they'll replace the Samurai Jack stuff, I think we're okay for time.
Trying to figure out a way to get a live "here's how long your playlist is right now" counter to look at while I'm building the playlist is something that would probably help with this. Maybe I'll start building playlists ahead of time so they're more finely tuned or something.
The room is open, and we're at the starting line!

The ReBoot Episodes
14 (v2.1) - "Infected" - 31 August 1995 (Canada)
Megabyte interferes with the scheduled upgrade, infiltrates the Core.
Game: none, but Dot does a neat Sigourney Weaver imitation.
Disguised as an upgrade, Megabyte enters Mainframe's core control chamber. He badly hurts Phong and initiates an Erase Command that almost destroys the System, only to be thwarted by Bob exploiting his greed. Hexidecimal hints at a surprising connection to Megabyte.
Cultural references: Megabyte uses a self-destruct command and a pose emulating the film Predator, while Dot's use of an Exo-Skeleton may refer to Ellen Ripley in Aliens. When Dot attempts to crush Megabyte with a mechanical exoskeleton, a shot of his head is shown where his eyes dim in a way similar to the way the Terminator is destroyed in The Terminator.
15 (v2.2) - "High Code" - 7 September 1995 (Canada)
A code master comes looking for a master who has left the guild.
Game: Wild West Locomotive
A Codemaster, Lens the Reaper, wreaks havoc in Mainframe while looking to challenge the legendary Codemaster Talon who took refuge in the system. Phong and Bob assure him that there is no one in Mainframe called Talon. Enzo discovers that Old Man Pearson is Talon, and has to convince him to come out of hiding—while Bob tricks Lens into a Game with the hope of nullifying them both to save the System. In the end, Lens is moved by the Mainframers' honorable willingness to die for each other.
Cultural references: The title refers to High Noon. The Game references the real-life Canadian town of Spuzzum. As Enzo travels to see Old Man Pearson, he sings the theme song to "Batman". The weapon of choice of a Codemaster, the Gibson coil pike, is a reference to William Gibson, author of Neuromancer. The number on the train, 9502, reflects that this was the second episode produced in the 1995 season.

Megabyte steals energy from a game cube. The user sends in another game cube which merges with the first to form an out-of-control game.

Cultural references: The gateway command is identical in shape and function to the gateway from the contemporary Stargate movie.(v2.4) 17 "Bad Bob" - 21 September 1995 (Canada)
Megabyte attacks the Principal Office. His theft of the core energy messes up the game cube.
Game: Mad Max (Road Warrior)
Cultural references: Many of the events during the game "Road Warrior" are taken directly from the Mad Max films, as well as characters, vehicles and landscape. The Number One character appears to be wearing a Star Trek uniform and has similar facial features and speech to Commander Riker from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Upon seeing part of Mainframe's core corrupted, a binome exclaims "Maniacs! They blew it up! – a reference to Planet of the Apes. When Bob crashes his car, a binome references This Island Earth by asking if he is having trouble with his interocitor. She also references Jefferies tubes, suggesting that he flushes out the Daniels tubes. Kelly Daniels was the show's Director of Technical Operations. Enzo says he based his aircart design on an X-MP/48. The User's car is almost identical to the Batmobile from the late 1980s/early 1990s Batman movie series.

Painted Windows - 2 November 1995 (Canada)
Hexadecimal accesses the system's Paint program, and Mainframe is her canvas. She soon begins to wreak havoc, causing a communications blackout, and melting all forms of transport, and glitch.
Cultural references:
Renditions of several famous artworks appear throughout this episode, including "The Thinker", "The Creation of Adam" and Edvard Munch's "The Scream". Hexadecimal's monologue near the beginning of the episode is in reference to Night Gallery. At the end of the episode, Mike's line "Mother! What have you done?" is a reference to Norman Bates.(v2.6) 19 -
AndrAIa - 9 November 1995 (Canada)
Enzo is depressed because he feels lonely. During an underwater game, he befriends a game sprite named AndrAIa. When the game is won, he discovers she attached a back-up copy of herself to his icon so they can remain together.
Cultural references:
A Jean-Luc Picard-styled binome appears near the start of the episode, dressed in a Starfleet uniform; the binome repeatedly says "make it so" and "engage" and later asks for "tea, Earl Grey". Another binome has a bad hairpiece and speaks in pauses in an exaggerated impersonation of Captain Kirk. During Bob's lecture on how to survive in a Game, he sees a binome with "i ♥ U" written on her eyelids, a reference to Raiders of the Lost Ark. The "AI" in AndrAIa's name stands for artificial intelligence. When the game cube is falling, one of the binomes escaping the diner is Waldo. When the User is nearing the city of Atlantis in the game cube, statues of King Ghidorah can clearly be seen. The game at the beginning of the episode is the same game as the first episode. This episode has the second foreshadowing of a future injury of Enzo's. Bob uses Homer Simpson's famous catchphrase "d'oh".Ghost Stories Episodes10 -

Hey everyone, I have returned from the abyss. Unless there are strenuous objections, I was planning to resume the usual schedule for movie night.
I haven't finished putting a program together yet, but before I do I wanted to confirm that you guys were still watching Ghost Stories. According to the schedule for last week that Flappy posted you've watched through ep 11. I have the whole series and I was thinking I could just do eps 12 and 13 as the cartoon segment tonight, but if you guys watched extra episodes and managed to finish it while I was gone, I have some other anime I can show.
>>363996Hooray! Welcome back.

Friday Fun-Time is on it's way now.
This week has a
four-part storyline that's going to change the tone of the show a lot, and I think it'd be a mistake to cut them. I'm spacing them out with some stuff. We could probably cut the latter two episodes if people want. I'll just double check that it's not a cliffhanger on episode 2.

ReBoot Episodes(v2.7.1) 21 -
Nullzilla - 27 December 1995 (Canada)
A giant monster made of Nulls attacks mainframe. The main characters, including the newly-added AndrAIa, are picked to defend the city.
Cultural references:
Phong dresses up the group in Power Ranger-like uniforms, and their vehicles form a giant robot and battle the monster. The office in which Phong readies the team to combat Hex is similar to that seen on Tracy Island of Thunderbirds, as are the chutes through which the team travels to the vehicle hangar. When the heroes combat Hex, they appear as parodies of both Power Rangers and Voltron, and fight in a parody of the Mega Zord formed by a similar command to Voltron's "Go Voltron Force!" phrase. The Web Creature that attacks Hex and later Megabyte, turns them black, similar to how the Symbiote succeeded in changing Spider-Man before later becoming Venom. The code F.A.B. is a reference to a radio acknowledgment for the Thunderbirds as well as an acronym for Fully Acknowledged and Briefed.(2.7.2) 21 -
Gigabyte - 27 December 1995 (Canada)
An energy-absorbing virus named Gigabyte attacks the city. Hack & Slash and a returning Mouse join forces against the virus.
Cultural references:
When asked what its purpose is, Gigabyte replies, "I am become Gigabyte, destroyer of systems," alluding to Vishnu in the Bhagavad-Gita. When Gigabyte corners Bob and Dot in an alley he scrapes the wall with his claw, similar to Freddy Krueger. A binome who has his energy absorbed by Gigabyte is based on Indiana Jones. Bob's special body armor is based on Solid Snake's protective gear. The controller Mouse uses to contain the tear is extremely similar to a PlayStation controller.(v2.7.3) 22 -
Trust No-One - 25 January 1996 (Canada)
Mainframe citizens are mysteriously disappearing, including Dot and Al's waiter. Phong hires two CGI Special Agents, Fax Modem and Data Nully to investigate the disappearances, along with Bob and Mouse. They Discover the now enlarged invader Identified as a creature from the Web. The implications of the situation get a lot worse when the guardians become aware.
Cultural references:
When the waiter from Al's is taking out the trash, he says "Garbage In, Garbage Out," a common saying in the field of computer science. The two agents parody agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully from The X-Files. Data Nully is voiced by Gillian Anderson, the same actress who played Dana Scully. CGI is an allusion to the American FBI and also to Computer-Generated Imagery, used to produce computer-generated but realistic imagery such as in ReBoot.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Welcome again, Lads and Gents, to your regularly scheduled stream night.
In the early part of the pre-stream, I've popped in a 12 minute stand-up comedy sketch, a video that's hard to explain, and Clipper Anon's "The Founding of /mlp/" as voiced by 15.ai, TalkNet, and DeltaVox.
After Bob, Mainframe's Guardian protecting the city from the devastation of the Games, got F'd by Megabyte and Hexadecimal and sent to 'the Web' (read: a lovecraftian hellscape beyond understanding), it's up to Enzo. The kid / little brother character who, while he has some experience in Games, he is only a guardian cadet. And that, only about an hour before Bob got sent off. His keytool that he inheirited, Glitch, is the one the Megabyte crushed, so it's broken. Time to establish the new status quo.
Pony Theme of the week: Calcium Cavalry
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ReBoot Episodes(v3.1.1) -
To Mend and Defend[b] - 20 August 1997 (Canada)
Dot is now the Commander of the Principal Office and with Bob gone, Enzo must prove himself as a Guardian while Megabyte and Hexadecimal attack the Principal Office.
Cultural references: A CPU (Convertible Pursuit Unit) pilot says, "Well, ya heard the little lady. Single file. Proceed heading 1138. Stay frosty," referring to THX 1138, an early George Lucas movie as well as Aliens. A similar line was uttered by Bob in The Tearing. When Hexadecimal is preparing to fire again, she says, "Say hello to my little friend," a reference to Scarface. The game in this episode is clearly modelled on the Evil Dead film series, or the computer game which followed. Upon rebooting Enzo becomes a take on Michael Jackson in Thriller and Dot becomes a take on cult-TV horror show host Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (Cassandra Peterson). Additionally, The Addams Family motif plays briefly after her reboot. The user is based on Ash (Bruce Campbell) in the Evil Dead movies, specifically Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness, which is further alluded to when the user, having been "killed" and turned into a zombie, exclaims "I'm dead before dawn!" (referring to Evil Dead II). The chief of police being interviewed on TV is Marge Olmstead-Gunderson from the movie Fargo. At one point in the episode, Dot asks what kind of "sick creature" would take pleasure in playing a violent game like the one they are in, at which point she and Enzo break the fourth wall and glare accusingly at the viewer.
(v3.1.2) - [b]Between A Raccoon & A Hard Place[b] - 27 August 1997 (Canada)
Confidence in Enzo's skills begin to diminish due to efforts by Megabyte, who is easily seizing sectors. To prove himself as a capable Guardian, he and AndrAIa enter a game in order to win it without Dot's help.
Cultural references: After deleting the outspoken binome in the nullified sector (which is dressed in a Next Generation-style Starfleet uniform), Megabyte says that resistance is futile, an allusion to the Borg of Star Trek. Also, before being deleted, the binome declared, "we are sick of running in fear. A line must be drawn here." This is a parody of a speech Jean-Luc Picard gave in the movie Star Trek: First Contact. Enzo reboots in the game cube into a character who is dressed like, and sounds like, Elmer Fudd. The User's raccoon character is a cross between Sonic the Hedgehog and The Road Runner; many of the gags used during the game are characteristic of Road Runner cartoons. The raccoon's name, Rocky Raccoon, is a reference to a song off The Beatles' White Album. One of the binomes returned to normal after they win the game looks like Sailor Moon.
Ghost Stories Episodes
Here's a little preview for our wrap-up section.
14 - [b]Cold Dark Space - 10 November 1997
A frenzied man finds himself trapped in a nightmarish hospital room. Surrounded by the dead from his past, it appears he's lost in a limbo world between life and death. We discover this is all the delusion of an astronaut adrift in space with his dead co-pilots as company.
15 - [b]Green-Eyed Monster[b] - 17 November 1997
A jealous husband becomes a green-eyed monster when he finds his wife giving undue attention to their backyard tree — the very tree from which her ex-boyfriend committed suicide.
>>364360>vacuumposting>I'm glad that it's becoming a thing nowNot funny.
I recently stumbled across a video talking about dark and disturbing media, and it both reminded me of one film and introduced me to another. What would you guys think of the film The Plague Dogs? The theatrical version is shorter as it cuts a part out, but the youtube upload is the full extended version.
And speaking of the film, Snitter is voiced by John Hurt, who also played Hazel from Watership Down, and Winston Smith from the 1984 adaptation of...1984. So, this is a roundabout way of asking, what about Watership Down? Have we seen it for movie night before?
>>364535We've actually already watched both The Plague Dogs and Watership Down, but I'd be good to watch either of them again.
>>364558Damn, late to the party. And here I was, thinking it was niche enough. I'm just uncultured.
>>364559I went back through the old threads and it looks like the last time we watched either of those movies was January of 2021. Since it's been awhile and we've rewatched plenty of other things, I'm thinking it would be fun to do Watership Down again, so I'll go ahead and preemptively schedule that for tomorrow.
>>364565Well in that case thank you.
Hi guys. The day went later than expected, so the pre-stream will be late. I still have some stuff to do before I can sit down.
I may skip out on getting the episode summaries prepped before starting the stream.
Real quick, and real dirty, we have a pre-stream of some "X reacts to MLP songs" video and a ten minute animation titled "A Different View Of History". Two songs later, and we're in to the next two episodes of ReBoot.
These next two episodes are the second half of the current story arc. Things change. Massively. No episode summaries in this post so the stream can be gotten to quickly. This is the kind of thing you'll likely want to be here for. I'll post the actual YT links later.
Points to whomest-ever(?) can guess where these images came from.
I got a bit of a late start today as well, movie schedule will be up momentarily.
>On June 27, 2023, YouTube revoked CyTube's API access
Well shit. I was actually looking forward to the palate cleansers/memes/songs on Friday. Any plans to get around this? Locally hosted videos downloaded by Elway perhaps?
>>364583Ah, you're watching that ghost stories. Hehe, yeah that was fun. Maybe one day when I'm less of a loner and can join in and be a poner ^^
>>364738Well... shit.
I'll see what I can do in the meantime. Pony content may be a bit light for the pre-stream portion if I can't get it working, but Ghost Stories is available on another website that I've streamed from before.
Due to the YouTube outage, and in recognition of Canada Day being tomorrow, I'm putting on some episodes of the Red Green show, a show that was on TV from 1991 to 2006. I haven't seen it in years, but I'm expecting good vibes and a generally relaxed atmosphere.
I'll work on getting Internet Archive copies of the ReBoot episodes up while Red Green is playing.
https://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactylhttps://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactylhttps://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactylRoom is open and the video is running. I'm operating it like it's cable rather than a curated and organized playlist this week because things are a bit weird.
I had the playlist pre-made this week, too.
Movie schedule will be up in just a moment.
Merrie Melodies: Speaking of the Weather
The Honeymooners: A Matter of Life and Death
The Plague Dogs (1982)
Suggested in the chat last week, made by the same people who did Watership Down if I'm not mistaken.
Me Hoeres:
S7 eps 14 and 15
Der Ghosten:
Eps 18, 19 and 20
There are only 3 episodes of Ghost Stories left, so I figure we can just go ahead and finish it tonight. Hopefully we shouldn't run late. We'll start a new anime next week.
We have a playlist up and running. Turns out both shows were available on the Internet Archive.
The next episodes of ReBoot are going to continue growing past the censorship a bit.
Happy Thursday, everyone!
As of this comment, adding YouTube videos to the CyTube list still doesn't work. We're currently on track for another several episodes of Internet Archive shows.
Normal CyTube definitely won't work. It might be possible to try to borrow the server that was set up for /mlp/con, but I'll have to wait on a reply to the messages I just sent.
>>364962Twifag gave the go-ahead for this weekend! Glory to Twifag!
I doubt this server will remain up in the long term, so we still need to think about what we're going to do without being able to add YouTube links in the medium term until YouTube pulls it's head out of it's ass. Assuming it ever does.
>>364962>>364963I hate Harold with a passion but Red Green was pretty kino otherwise. I am okay with using Internet Archive. In fact, I could even provide films/shows with a sockpuppet. I can't promise they'll stay up for long though, I uploaded stuff awhile before and they were struck down.
I'm sure the debate on what mediums can be played on Cytube has already happened before, but would it be possible for the movie night room to have stuff like bandcamp/audio file links for musical intermissions, and so forth? If youtube's going kaput that means we all gotta put our heads together and consider all the options we can for entertainment/curation. Even changing sites for hosting/sharing.
>>364965Just download whatever from youtube (yt-dlp) and upload it somewhere else. If its pony then upload it to pony.tube as it works fine with cytube.
>>364966Well yeah, I just don't know what specific video sites in the same vein as youtube are compatible with Cytube. I know webms from this site don't work (without plugins implemented into the channel I think?), nor do bitchute links. Just trying to get our ducks in a row for the long haul.
>>364966That's going to be a really awkward workaround, but barely doable.
I'm trying to build these playlists to have a good balance of longer stuff to shorter stuff, energetic stuff to calm stuff, et cetera. YouTube lets me save playlists, add new things, drag and drop easily to rearrange, and then add the whole playlist in one operation. Having to switch away would be somewhat annoying.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'll be putting the playlist originally intended for last week in for this week.
Seems like CyTube has access to the API this week. We'll still be using the other CyTube room this week since Twifag and I agreed on it. I'm assuming we might get some new viewers to our weekly get-together if I put it on there.
I don't know about adding the old Emote list to Twifag's server. I didn't ask him about the windmills. I also don't have the right plugins for posting images directly to the chatroom. Hmm... We might end up using the regular CyTube server after all if the lack of emotes is an issue. Maybe I can get a copy of the Convention Emotes to put in our room for this week.
>>364977>We might end up using the regular CyTube server after all if the lack of emotes is an issue.Don't think having all the same emotes is that important.
Evening gents, it's that time again. Here is tonight's program:
Merrie Melodies - The Case of the Stuttering Pig
The Honeymooners - The Sleepwalker
The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou (2004)
A fine film by the illustrious Wes Anderson, beloved of smarmy hipsters everywhere.
Hros:
S7, eps 16 and 17
Animu:
Charlotte, eps 1 and 2
We'll be starting a new anime this week. It's one I watched a few years ago and greatly enjoyed, hopefully you guys will like it.
Not sure what Flappy has planned exactly what with the cytube issues and all, it sounds like we might be using a different room this week, but there shouldn't be any issues doing the movie portion as usual one way or the other. Hope to see you all there, wherever that may be exactly.
We continue on with our regularly scheduled program. Hopefully the emote list issue isn't going to be a problem. I'll just copy the normal emote list over, broken links and windmills and all.
It was Canada Day weekend last week, so I only found out about the /mlp/con after all the events except for the closing ceremonies. Therefore, I'm going to add the Pony Antithology 2023 to the stream this week, so we can all see it. If everyone in the room except for me already saw the thing, then we can skip it and get right to the movies.
Pony of the Week is Celestia being cute.
ReBoot Episodes30 (v3.2.3) - Number 7 - 1 October 1997 (Canada)
Entering a game, Matrix and AndrAIa find themselves back in Mainframe where Bob and Dot mistake Matrix and Andrea who are Rebooted into Megabyte and Hexadecimal, trying to find the mysterious number 1.
Cultural references:
The entire episode is a reference to the cult series The Prisoner. In the golf game cube at the end of the episode, Matrix and AndrAIa's opponents are a tiger, a sombrero, and a shark, a reference to famous golf pros Tiger Woods, Lee Travino, and Greg Norman. The tiger also bears a resemblance to Hobbes from Calvin and Hobbes. Little Enzo's words, "there can be only one," is a reference to the film Highlander, and the image of Matrix after he is hit by the golf ball blob is another reference to The Prisoner, in which Number 6 is incapacitated by Rover (a weather balloon), thereafter to be dragged back to his villa. In addition, Phong has coffee delivered to him by a "9" sprite and asks him "How is your back, 9?" in reference to the last nine holes of a golf game. The song "Here Comes the Judge" by Pigmeat Markham is sung during the trial.31 (v3.2.4) - The Episode with No Name- 8 October 1997 (Canada)
Matrix and AndrAIa arrive in a system with a ports to the net making Mainframe that much closer. The Guardians however... are infected by a supervirus named Daemon, but Turbo, the Leader of the Guardians though infected is fighting it. He explains the only hope of defeating Daemon lies in Bob's protocol. Matrix must find Bob not only to return him home, but to save the net.
Cultural references:
Four Imperial stormtroopers are clearly seen walking through the streets of the desert town; and one is seen in the bar, which is a parody of a Star Wars cantina, though the scene (and a large part of the episode) are parodies of various Spaghetti Westerns. At one point when Matrix jumps, the sound effects and slow-mo are reminiscent of The Six Million Dollar Man. The search engine's vehicle says IMAX on the side. When Matrix runs off, chasing the thief, AndrAIa shouts after him, "stay frosty, Sparky," a reference to both Aliens and an earlier episode where Bob says something similar. While in the bar, Matrix has his gun target all the patrons and initiate "Death Blossom mode", taken from the movie The Last Starfighter.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With that all out of the way, come on in to the new room for this week. We can swap to the old room during the night if there's an issue.
https://watch.mlpcon.online/c/MLPOL-WatchPartyhttps://watch.mlpcon.online/c/MLPOL-WatchPartyhttps://watch.mlpcon.online/c/MLPOL-WatchParty
>>364979Swapping from Ghost Stories to Charlotte makes sense. After ReBoot's done, that slot will be taken up by Berserk (1997). A bit of a change of tone.
If the Antithology 2023 is a bit too much for time, I'm fine with dropping that and watching it on my own.
Since the CyTube issue seems to be worked out, we can swap back to the normal room to get access to the "post image links in the chat to see the images" function/script. I haven't gotten that set up on the server that's going to be shut down in a day or two, because I don't know if it's worth the hassle.
For the time being, we'll use the new room and see where the night takes us.
Dropping an hour long Antithology into the list on a whim was too much. We'll watch that some other day.
>>364992The numbers are the tabs I have open in the windows
Hey poners, what are we watching tonight? And Flappy, did you get through a hundred or so tabs just yet?
And now back for the rundown of the evening, to be held at the usual spot. It's starting to feel comfy, huh?
ReBoot Episodes32 (v3.3.1) - "Return of the Crimson Binome" 15 October 1997 (Canada)
When Matrix and AndrAIa find that Captain Capacitor's crew are being held in the portal system due to a new law enforced by the guardians. They attempt a prison break-in to free them to use their ship to return to Mainframe, and find a Web Surfer named Ray Tracer who agrees to help them. Matrix grows jealous of him when he flirts with AndrAIa.
Notes: This was the last episode shown in Britain due to concerns that the show's themes were becoming more mature.
33 (v3.3.2) - "The Edge of Beyond" 22 October 1997 (Canada)
With Ray Tracer and Captain Capacitor and his crew, Matrix and AndrAIa enter the Web to find Bob and to return to Mainframe. They find themselves with a new goal after AndrAIa gets bitten by a Web Creature.
Cultural references: Ray Tracer was named in a contest; the winning name came from Motorola, and Ray's icon symbol sometimes resembles the Motorola logo. (At other times, it is a stylized wave.) The language the Web Riders speak sounds similar to a low-speed dial-up modem. When AndrAIa first encounters the web creature, it seems to emerge from an egg that looks very similar to the way the eggs in the Alien franchise hatch.

>>365175Schedule will be up in just one moment.
>>365175No, sadly I did not. I'm getting better at not opening more, at least. Compartmentalizing the various trains of thought such that I can tolerate getting rid of it forever.
A bunch of them are videos or songs I was scouting for this night. Some of those turn in to entries in the storage playlist I use, but I'm using those to link to the artist themselves. They usually have an average anywhere from 3-7 up to 15. But I don't want to risk dedicating a big chunk of the night to an untested variable. It might be the kind of genre that gets boring after five minutes, and it thus good only in short bursts, or as a spacer.
Every time I look at a tab I see this data, and a dozen more layers besides. Then the analysis paralysis kicks in.
Alrighty folks, here is tonight's movie program:
Merrie Melodies: Little Red Walking Hood
The Honeymooners: Better Living Through TV
The Usual Suspects (1995)
May actually contain previously unseen suspects.
Horoes:
S7 Eps 18 and 19
Animu:
Charlotte Eps 3 and 4
>>365179Just wanna bump to thank you for last night's extended afterparty and for bearing with my sudden reignited passion for AshaLogos.
If time permits, anons, then on Friday we will set aside time for watching his series,
Conspiracy? Our Subverted History - a series which goes in loving depth about ancient Indo-Aryan history. We only watched part 1 last night - which is mostly a preamble with scattered pieces of evidence that Egypt, Sumer, Mesopotamia, India, Japan and others have pieces of white ancestry biologically. If nobody else attends but the same that did last night, we will be starting on part 2, but if we get a lot of eyes on it, we'll happily rewatch part 1.
Welcome again, fellow horsefuckers, to yet another night of pony-themed YouTube videos, a movie, and an assortment of other video media to keep your spirits up.
Pony Theme of the week is Jargon Scott's stuff.
ReBoot Episodes34 (v3.3.3) - Web Riders On The Storm 29 October 1997 (Canada)
The crew of the Saucy Mare encounter Web Riders, beings living in the web, who are not happy with their arrival in the Web. The crew must fight them off and time is running out for AndrAia.
Cultural references: The episode's title is a pun on The Doors' song "Riders on the Storm."
35 (v3.3.4) - Mousetrap 5 November 1997 (Canada)
With Bob and a portal found, the Saucy Mare prepares to return to Mainframe, but Mouse has set traps that make the trip more difficult than expected.
Cultural references: The "wriggles" that the surfer eats is possibly a lampoon of 'gagh', a Klingon food (from the Star Trek series) that also "wriggles all the way down". After the surfer eats it a web rider says, "You are a warrior, you have honour!", typical of something a Klingon would say. Matrix, in a conversation with Bob says "I've done – questionable things" with the same pause that Roy Batty takes when he says the same thing in Blade Runner.

Please enjoy your weekly dose of Pony and good company. The room is open and ready to go.

>>365505Whoops. I had my VPN on.
On a side note, basically all the organization for the event happens inside the thread, so if anyone has feedback regarding the format, feel free to chime in. I'm assuming a time budget on my side of approximately one hour of Pony, two episodes of one show, then we move to the movie, shorts, 2 pony episodes, and two episodes of something else. As far as I can tell, we just fell in to this structure.
Anyone interested in The Adventures of Mark Twain for a movie on movienight at some point?
>>365678That sounds good to me, I've seen some clips of it before and it certainly looks like quite the experience.
Whether your last week was as nice as I'd hope it was, or whether it wasn't, we gather again for more Ponies and other assorted Shenanigans.
I popped one six minute political video in there because it's mlpol. I'm going as middle of the ground as I can. It's Thomas Sowell, so it's still a bit normie-tier-spicy. There are a pair of Fluttershy videos in here, and I stumbled on to a theme of different covers of "Welcome To The Show". I made sure to add what looked like a clip of it from the movie that I found on YouTube.
I have about two screens worth of tabs open on my main browser again already. There's a memory leak in my habits, but the browser's tabs are still at least being relatively responsive.
Regarding the Emote list, that could use some work. I just have to make time and really buckle down on it for a while, but that's been tough for me for the last couple weeks. I'm slipping in my habits a bit.
ReBoot - Now we've reunited with Bob, Bob fused with Glitch to be some kind of limited deus ex machina god-character, and Matrix and Andrea are bringing a crew of pirates, and their ship with them. I picked the last item on the list to try to help set the tone for this. I think this is the week we get to re-watch that fight scene with proper context.
ReBoot Episodes36 (v3.4.1) - Megaframe 3 January 1998 (Canada)
The
Saucy Mare arrives to a heavily damaged Mainframe, under the control of Megabyte. They are in preparation for an assault on the Principal Office and Bob gets abducted by Hexadecimal.
Cultural references: Some of the binomes in the beginning resemble the Sailor Scouts from the anime Sailor Moon. One of Megabytes officer's remarks "Those rebel scum. Will they never learn?"—a line commonly used in Star Wars media. The code that Megabyte extracts from Phong translates from ASCII to the phrase "YADDAYADDAYADDA!" – exclamation point included.
37 (v3.4.2) - Showdown 10 January 1998 (Canada)
Reunited with friends and family, Dot, AndrAIa, Mouse, Matrix and their group of binome rebels begin to invade the Principal Office, where Megabyte and his army await. Meanwhile Hexadecimal holds Bob against his will until he voluntarily does something benevolent for her. Matrix faces Megabyte alone before he escapes the system.
Cultural references: The
Saucy Mare's destruction (and the conversation between the captain and AndrAIa afterwards) is a reference to Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. Hex's response to Bob when he offers to heal her is taken from H.A.L. protesting his system's shutdown in 2001: A Space Odyssey.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now that that's set up
(I sure hope I got the colourshift thing to work properly) I'd like to invite you all in to the room. The pony theme for the week is going to be something quick that is at least somewhat themed. How about... the mouth pieces! I started saving the ones I saw back when I was arguing with people on the internet. I probably don't have a "complete" collection, but I've got about 20, with only one that's an edit-duplicate of another.
The fictional movie that feels more like a documentary.
>>365698I haven't seen that movie in a long time. I've seen it at least twice, but I wonder how it'll feel watching it this time.
