Just gonna throw this out there,...
Zone of Truth is a 2nd level Cleric spell
OOC: It's probably (definitely) not a good idea to waste all of our spell slots on things that are absolute non-issues before we even get to Manehattan, much less Mended Horn.
To clarify, Zone of Truth would bind every player speaking (who wilfully fails their saving throw) to not go against anythingbthey said during the spell (cuz otherwise it would be false).
There are exceptions for people pushing their will save, but I argue that a willful save could be detected by a spot and/or sense motive check.
The point is, ooc, Im not gonna try to kill anyone, Im not gonna try and double cross anyone. Brie's backstory is BUILT off surviving a double cross.
Zone of Truth, plz
>>178834We'll have a rest in transit
>>178833>>178835>>178836We already established that the Cleric has already prepared all of his spell slots without leaving them open, which means that he would need to wait until next dawn to prepare that spell, by then the Marines would have already frozen to death. We don't have that magic on hand, and even if we did that would make it one less spell slot to heal and buff the party. If you want it that bad, go buy a scroll of it with your own gold, and then ask the Cleric to cast it for you.
This is unnecessary. You could just make your character pretend to be trustworthy and not act suspicious and weird.
>>178837You should talk.
GM can wiggle his fingers and allow a ritual cast, or a tweaking of prepared spells, just to be able to be done with all the bullshit. Just saying
>>178831Shoal Water smiles and nods
"That's exactly what I want to hear. Alright. Everypony... err, creature. Let's get in the truck. The plane is waiting."
>>178832"Does Stalliongrad use its merchant freighters to move dissidents - in this case, presumably Northern Tribe rebels or griffin leftists who think a little too independently - all the way across an ocean to another continent so they can be 'reeducated' or put into labor camps? I don't know. I know that we do. Maybe there was a rebellion on a prisoner ship. Maybe ELF or some Nova Griffonian group did it. I don't really know. Just hope they don't care about the airship."
>>178837>This is unnecessary. You could just make your character pretend to be trustworthy and not act suspicious and weird. All of my thises. This, so very, very
very much.
>>178836I don't think you understand what a prop plane is.
Hell, if he wanted to get super-efficient and pull a random passersby priest by the name of Convenient Excuse, who could cast the spell on his way back to monastery
>>178839Kira gives Free Rover one last hug with her forelegs. "Can we still go on that date when I get back?"
>>178839>Let's get in the truck. The plane is waiting."Aye, aye, Captain." Rosey Ring replies, and canter-skips along to the truck
>>178840Okay, that's actually a decent idea
>>178841Shoal water is silent
"Perhaps. What assurances do you have in mind?"
>>178842Pony is huggedFree Rover:
"Do you know what 'date' implies in Ponish?" He asks
>>178845Kira: "I know what a 'date' is, silly." She boops Free Rover on the snoot. "And I'm not talking about the fruit."
>>178846Free Rover is silent for several seconds
"Ms. Kirafiki, are you trying to seduce me?"
>>178847"You know what? Screw it. Let's do this" Shoal Water says.
>>178848Kira giggles at Rover's question. "Well, 'seduce' is one way of putting it, I suppose. I dunno, I like you. I haven't met anyone like you in the city so far, so...I'd like to meet up with you sometime, see how we get along, and maybe see where we go from there."
Dust looks between the unicorn, the cheese bat, and back and forth a few times. He sighs
"Since I have arrived you have been at each other's throats
And had the attitude of a bloated goat
Over your problems I shall not dote
You cannot seem to get along,
And your disagreements ring a clanging gong.
If it is not that you two cannot find peace
Like kirin I will make you until your bickers seize."
With that, he picks up his equipment, slings it over his back, and slowly plods to the truck.
>>178849"Okay" he smiles and nods "You're certainly intriguing" He takes a hoof, and scritches behind her ears. "And I really
should show you around the city. Help you see more of Equestria."
>>178850Shoal Water watches, and then decides to leave the room with him.
>>178851Kira's ears fold around the scritching hoof, and the end of her tail
thump thump thumps against the hard floor. She smiles extremely happily.
Silver: "Okay you two, we are burning daylight. Come on, Kira."
Kira: "Okay, Silver!" She pulls away from Free Rover, and waves at him. "I'll see you after, okay?"
>>178838>You should talk.Seriously dude? Seriously.
I did everything in my power to be part of the party, in spite of the nature of my character.
I buffed party members with my limited resources, to show them Rosey was supporting them.
I hid my alignment, so that the paladin wouldn't have any conflicts of faith.
I refrained from wearing my foreign allegiances on my sleeve.
But you:
>*threatens to kill the entire of the party ooc*>Btw, I'm evil>Did I tell you some of my best friends are changelings?>Wtf, why are you not giving me sensitive military information>I'm gonna try to coerce the quest giver with my tiny mod>I'm suddenly okay with having enchantment spells cast on my that make me cooperative, not that we have any of those spells. Could I just roleplay cooperating anyway? NahCome on
>GM can wiggle his fingers and allow a ritual cast, or a tweaking of prepared spellsWhy are you asking to bend the limits of spellcasting, just to avoid having to RP more cooperatively?
>>178850>the attitude of a bloated goatLmao, I got the reference.
Rosey Ring follows him into the car.
>>178852"Silver Sword, was it?"
Rosey Ring draws her fancy +2 alchemical silver longsword
"I've been looking to see this, to find my research. It's served me well to slay monsters: the kind that refuse to die. They're not so common in these lands though." She says, wistfully
"If you would be interested in buying it, I would allow you to use it for today, as a trial test. I think you might find it very reliable."
She says, levitating the only handheld weapon that could reliably kill her, hilt first.
>>178853Unsurprising rhetoric
Maybe scared of a truth spell, given his necro comments
>buy my shit while I ragequitBruh
As the ponies head outside and towards the truck, a diamond dog in green uniform walks up, dragging a white earth pony wearing a white dress shirt and with a red mane by his ear
"ow ow ow ow ow!" The pony goes
The diamond dog, however, says "Found one"
>>178852Free Rover gives a wave with his hoof
"And please... Do come back. Whole and intact..."
>>178853Silver takes the sword in his magic by the hilt and looks over the offered weapon. He sees how it handles, gives it a couple of light swings (not in Posey's direction), and examines it in detail. "Hmm...good craftsponyship, superb balance. Alchemical silver is difficult to make and even more difficult to work. Not many smiths know how to forge even simple dagger out of material, let alone entire longsword. I must say it does not...exactly, go with your current ensemble, if that is why you are selling it. Though I am curious if you are asking if I wish to
rent this sword, or if you are asking if I want to try it out before I commit to buying it?"
>>178855Kira: "I will, I promise!"
Unless Rover has
any other questions or things he wants to say to Kira...
>>178853Also, is that the same sword Rosey coughed up earlier, or a different one?
The pony says,
"Hey, I'm trying to open pony's eyes to the truth. Spread the good word, and tell them how much better the world could be. If some of them reject that message, that's on them. That's not me harassing."
Shoal Water
"Oh yeah, that's the one."
Pony:
"... I'm not soliciting. I'm just trying to spread harmony."
Shoal Water:
"Yeah, sure. Now could you just get your tree or whatever your god is to put a zone of truth on this bat pony here?"
Pony:
".... Why?"
Shoal Water:
"I don't know either. Now if you could just do it, we can get on our plane and you can get back to harassing ponies on the street corner."
Pony:
"It's not harassing, it's-"
Shoal Water:
"I don't care. Just shut up and do it."
Pony:
"Okay..." He turns his attention to Brie
"Random Bat... I call upon Harmony and the Element of Honesty. Speak only the Truth"
poof
Brie now is subject to a zone of truth.
Its an area of effect spell, and ponies wanting to vacate the area would be observed doing so
>>178859Only Brie and the street preacher are certain to be standing in it
>>178861Oh. Ur gonna do me like that
>>178861Alright, ask your questions cuz Brie is very not trying to offer info, and he suspects hes being set up.
>>178862Testing Brie is the point.
>>178863He literally fucking asked for it. Begged for it, even.
Shoal Water:
"Are you going to rescue the ponies?"
"Can I trust you to not fuck everyone here over?"
"Can I trust you with explosives? Okay, I know that's pretty broad. Can I trust you not to kill yourself, your party members, my soldiers, and other New Mareland subjects with it, as well as to not come back and try to sell it in Equestria?"
"Can I trust you to actually torch the airship if you can't salvage it for us?"
"Will you try to start a war?"
"Will you try to sell out this operation?"
>>178864"I'll rescue whoever needs rescue, and fuck your orders. Since we're being honest now."
>can I trust bla bla"I have only ever "fucked over" agencies and individuals who tried to take advantage. This mission - presumptively - involves neither. Ive been remarkably patient with the incessant stream of questions, and I encourage you, do get your worst out cuz its better we have it out now. Oh right, your questionairre."
>>178863>>178864Silver: "Have Kerr and Wesley remembered me?"
>>178864"Can I be trusted with explosives? Hard maybe. Can I be trusted to torch the airship?"
........................ "Its a zone of truth"
>Will you start a war
"It isnt outside the realm of possibility, but it wont be in this context."
>will u sell the op out
"Probably not, there would have to be a degree of betrayal or bad blood. If you had clearance, you would know that a few of my,... associates remain in prison, refusing to go state's justice. One wonders why."
>>178854>ragequitI had to drive. Pardon me for stepping out
>Maybe scared of a truth spell, given his necroLmao, you think I didn't know about that spell when I made this character? Watch this:
>>178858As soon as the Zone Of Truth is cast, Rosey Ring gallops towards it, and shouts the following loud enough for @everyone to hear:
"I am a lawful and moral Necrologist! I only practice blackweave magic in ways that respect the laws of nature and the dignity of both the living and the dead! I have never used the dark arts to commit immoral acts! I am not a member of a cult, coven or kabal! I have never used necromancy magic or any other means to create dangerous monsters! I have never used enchantment magic to strip ponies of their free will! I have never used magic to spread diseases or sow plague! I have never worshipped demons, even transactionally! I have never prostituted myself for magical favors! I have never committed war crimes! I am not a spy! I am not under the remote control of any malevolent entities or foreign powers! I have no intention of using my magic to sow political instability or overthrow legitimate authority! My body is not a weapon! I am not a conduit for any evil deity or dark power! I have never engaged in murder, foalknapping, slavery, rape, smuggling, food tampering, or torture! I am not indebted to any corrupt officials who may cause conflict of interest! I am not a monster in disguise! I have never subjected my foal to treatments that could be considered abusive! I am not a groomer! I have never been possessed! I have never shared my body with aberrations, demons, ghosts, or nameless horrors! I have no degenerate sexual fetishes or psychosises! I only eat normal pony food! I have never killed to increase my powers!"
She tossed her mane and pants
"Unicorns of my profession get a lot of bad rep. I always take the opportunity to correct the record."
>>178871Silver: "Uh...good to know?"
A note for everyone in the party: if seating in the truck proves to be an issue, Kira is more than welcome to serve as a comfy bench for people to sit on.
>>178871GM, can I sense motive on that display?
>>178871The thing about blurting out as many truths as possible, it highlights the things that aren't said. You forgot to say that you aren't a faggot.
>>178871Shoal Water:
"The fuck's a blackweave?"
Free Rover:
"How many sexual partners have you had?"
>>178873Of course
>>178872Mala does not sit on the big snake thing. He stays near Silver or perhaps Posey
>>178875Kira smiles, closes her eyes, and waves at Mala.
Huh, something to be said for not starting shit, someone wonders ooc
>>178875>How many sexual partners have you hadRosey Ring gives an indignant huff
"That has nothing to do with my profession. You should know better than to pry into a lady's business."
>blackweave"War magic. Chill touch. Inflict Wounds, etcetera. I am a warmagus afterall."
>>178876Since we're not in combat, I take 10 on my bluff check for a modified 24
(assuming there's no circumstance bonus for saying it in a Zone of Truth)
>>178856>Though I am curious if you are asking if I wish to rent this sword, or if you are asking if I want to try it out before I commit to buying it?""You can have it, for the day, free of charge. Your success in battle contributes to mine, afterall. After today, you can consider if you want to buy it or not. It is such a lovely blade, and I would love to keep it, but research is expensive."
(I had considered offering Silver Sword the silver sword since I acquired it last year, although since it's the most valuable item in my possession, I would like some compensation for it.)
>>178879Since we're not in combat, I'll take that same 10 to my sense motive, listen, and however many other checks.
>>178880Silver: "And how much are you asking for it?"
>>178882"For fucks sake Silver, I have an obselete +1 magical shortsword. I was going to offer it to Mala, but if it keeps you from wasting your money, you can have it."
>>178872Posey sits on the snek.
Rosey Ring is accustomed to riding atop giant reptiles
Meanwhile, at home
"This is Vesuvius! He's weeeally big, and he kinda smells bad!" Gloomy Sundae shouts to anyone who will listen, as he holds up a Crayola drawing of a zombified pyroclastic dragon
>>178882"It's worth no less than 8,405 gold pieces (12th level item), before considering it's historic value, but for convenience I could be persuaded to go for less than that. Give me your most honest offer after you try it out for yourself."
>>178884Kira giggles as Posey has a seat on her tail.
Silver: "Uh...hmm...I will have to get back with you on that. As nice as it is, and as nice as it would be to have
actual silver sword, I have lot of other needs for money at moment. I would like to get expansion built onto my home, maybe purchase my own workshop here in town and open my own blacksmith shop. This of course is not even to mention all of creatures I would spend my money on as well. Besides," Silver says, as he unsheathes his own greatsword, a great big and ornately-designed weapon in its own right, "I have magic sword of my own."
>>178883Silver: "Oh! If that is what you wished to do, it is much appreciated. You would have to ask Mala to see if he would like it."
I was wondering how long it would take for Silver to show off his big, silver sword to Posey.
"According to the fine print, it may be a +2 Short Sword. Im no mage, Im just saying what aim td"
>>178886Oh shit, is it actually silver? I thought it was just a regular magic sword. Huh. Nevermind about Silver saying he'd like an actual silver sword.
*drops +2(?) short sword*
>>178885>As nice as it is, and as nice as it would be to have actual silver swordMeta, GM said it's a silver sword, although idk if it's alchemical silver or shiftsilver (in which case it would be worth about 1100 gp more)
Rosey Ring smiles
"Oh, it's the real deal alright. It has that bitter sting that makes the walking dead writhe in agony." She says, biting her lip slightly
>Besides," Silver says, as he unsheathes his own greatsword, a great big and ornately-designed weapon in its own right, "I have magic sword of my own.""Oh. Very well then."
>>178886I didn't know it was silver.
>>178889How do we all have 12th level items?
Good for you, I guess.
>>178890What is 12th level? Yiu speak weird. Almost like a metafag
“Okay”
Shoal Water takes out a notebook.
“Torch. Airship. Refuses to… answer, and How. Many. Sexual. Partners… refuses… to… answer.”
>>178888Fluff. We’ve established that magical weapons are played in precious metals, as precious metals retain magic. The Dragon’s Bane sword was explicitly stated as being either silver or “plating.”
>>178889uwu
>>178890Clearly I’m too generous with the magical items. I’ll make the necessary adjustments.
>>178891No no. Let him speak. I need to know where to nerf.
>>178891>Clearly I’m too generous with the magical items. I’ll make the necessary adjustments. Wait! Fuck! No! I take it back!
>>178892Hey, it's been a while since Silver got the sword. I can't remember
every detail of every item in the game.
I suppose though this means Posey has more incentive to keep Silver on her good side. Silver has arguably an even better weapon than her longsword for killing undead.
>nerfAwwwww...
Oh Celestia fucking
>>178871The striped fellow raises an eyebrow at necrologist, and the implication of having using necromancy. It almost looks as if he might reach for a weapon for a fleeting moment, but he decides against it before continuing to slowly plod to the truck. He mutters to himself.
Posey has definitely marked herself in Dust's eyes though, she might want to watch herself.
>>178872The zeeb would be willing to use the snake bench for the ride
Jus being honest, i didnt know the sword was +2 until I offered it,... still on the table
>>178897>>178892Silver looks to Mala, to see if he would like a magic short sword before Silver says anything.
>>178896Somehow, Kira is especially happy about the zebra being comfortable around her. She's growing really fond of Dust, and hopes he'll consider her a friend before long.
>>178896>Posey has definitely marked herself in Dust's eyes though, she might want to watch herself. There is only one way to fix this then.
Rolling to seduce
[1d20+8 = (16+8) = 24] >>178898"It was intended for you, Mala, before things got complicated"
Zone of truth is still in effect
For Nrie, only, apparently,.. cuz hes thenonkt aus
Alright Dust. Time to roll your saving throw.
>>178898>>178900Mala looks up at Silver and then Brie. He’s an overweight adult male who is as tall as Silver and taller than Brie. It’s impossible for him to look cute, or adorable. But he tries.
>>178899>>178902...
scrunchI'm gonna assume will saving throw?
[1d20+12 = (13+12) = 25] >>178902>>178905There's only one problem with that description: Mala
is cute and adorable.
Silver: "I believe what Mala is trying to convey to you while being too shy to say so is 'yes, I would like that sword very much, thank you'."
>>178904Darn...
Pic related: Dust right now
I'll corrupt you to the path of depravity some day. You'll see.
>>178905Pic related.
>>178904HE WON. HE FUCKING WON>>178907Mala tilts his head.
>>178908You’ll get ‘em next time.
>>178908We'll see there buddy, for now the cleric remains untainted, free to purify another day.
He does soften a little though, perhaps there's just a misunderstanding. After all, these ponies have such strange ways and manners of speech. If he didn't know better he'd think Posey just tried to seduce him.
"I could probably pawn it, but like a good book I prefer to pass it on."
>>178911>"Darn, this one is a tough cookie. August snapped like a twig, but this one isn't even giving an inch. Maybe I'll have to up my game..."Rosey Ring thinks internally
>>178912"Well, I would gladly take it, if you're not using it, that is..."
Rolling bluff to disguise the blatant all-consuming greed in her voice
[1d20+14 = (7+14) = 21] >>178912Street Preacher:
“Hey, that’s my name! That’s the spirit!”
Mala smiles, and wags his tail. He comes closer to Brie, but stops at the edge of the zone of truth, and does not come any closer.
>>178911https://youtu.be/r0ZP12jneFE?si=ogxdDVrVkfGo_ws8https://youtu.be/hdPX_QW2S_I?si=3mxWm7Zz1qcIaFNh >>178913Please
>>178914It is expressly and gestured to be for Mala. It is only not theirs if they do not take it
>>178914How long does it take for the truck to arrive at the plane?
Just for the record, Brie is more forthright, more generous, more unequivocal, and more darkng with sensitive info than,
.. all y'all
"Hey, you didnt reiterate and answer a bunch of dumb questions"
Maybe cuz I/he didnt lir the first timr
>>178915Mala looks down at the edge of the zone of truth, then back up at Brie. He leans forward. Then he extends his right paw out for the sword, stretching his black paws and brown legs as far forward as he can without falling over, and extending his tail to balance himself out
>>178916When we’re done with the interaction. In game tone it’s a very short journey.
>>178916>>178914Also, what is the time of day?
>>178919Brie rethinks the wisdom of this whole mission
>>178919"That sword looks good on you. Use it well." Rosey Ring says to Mala
"So while the spell is still in effect, I'll also say unequivocally. I am not under the complicit or implicit control of any agency or group. I have no interest in the betrayal of any involved pony. I do work with changelings, but this has no bearing on this mission. The ONLY reason I MIGHT lose my shit is if > discovered my will had been involuntarily compromised
"Barring that, we're wasting time. Tell the quartermaster to bring all the smoke canisters, if we're tk save ponies."
>>178914"So, my priestly fellow, what god do you serve? I hear the imprisonment of the princesses has been difficult on harmonists."
>>178923Rosey Ring leans back into the Zone of truth.
"Research shows that ponies named after cheese are 9001% more likely to be homosexuals."
>>178926"And the faggits who want to throw shade are disguised necrophiles"
Brie is still in The zone of truth
>>178928"Huh. Interesting fact. Throwing shade is rude. I would never do that."
Rosey Ring tosses her mane elegantly
"Did you know societies led by ponies with white fur are proven to have higher GDP?" she says, still in the Zone Of Truth
>>178932>>178933Silver steps into the truth zone, and glares at both ponies.
Silver: "You are both being petty and foalish. You are both professional adults, act like it. Every second you spend bickering between each other is another second of those navy ponies' lives wasted when they have hardly any to spend. Now, you can spend as long as you like arguing with each other after mission is done, but until then get on that truck if you are coming before I drag you both to it by your ears like you are my foals."
>>178934Posey paws her hoof in the air
"Oh fine, let us get to work. We wouldn't want our colts to catch a cold." She says, stepping back in the truck
