>>178092"If this were a local contract, perhaps not. But this isn't, and I'm not local. It's pretty standard, don't you think? To give something in collateral
when you are given something in trust?" He smiles
>>178094Posey is wearing that cloak of resistance, right?
>>178084"No no, we don't need you destroying the masonry in here, that's alright. But as I said to your unicorn friend, I think it's unlikely you'll encounter any undead where you are going."
>>178096Dust simply shrugs at both comments. He's not sure why the stallion thinks he going to destroy the building with a single stone, but Equestrians have turned out to be pretty weird since he got here.
"You seem to haved missed
A member of my list
Shamans like I, try our very best
So our patients don't die, and their needs are addressed."
He then picks up his roll as if he's preparing to leave, surely if these ponies don't need his help, somepony will
For context:
Brie is presenting himself as the slickest shit in front of ponies who basically have never worked with him before and rolls a fucking 1 on his first display of 'technique'.
I encourage players to headcanon a range of receptions ^_^
>>178096>Posey is wearing that cloak of resistance, right? No. She left it in the dungeon on the skeleton as part of her act to pretend she respects the dead and Glass Horizon's property, and intended to collect it later.
I'm probably going to want it soon, but Posey's saves are already high enough for this level. So long as we don't encounter a beholder or pyroclastic dragon with disintegrate, I'm not too worried.
>>178097You're a Cleric, right? What spells do you have prepared? If you left any of your slots open to prepare in 10 minutes, I have some requests.
>>178097Kira slithers up to the zebra, frowning with her ears flopping down.
Kira: "You're not leaving us, right? Please stay! I know you're gonna be an amazing help to us, and I only just met you. It's not very often I meet someone in this city who isn't afraid of me..."
calculatingly patient, waiting for GM response bat-noises
Pu'er tea
>>178103Ah, I would have recommended Blessed Aim, Mass Lesser Vigor, Downdraft, Silence, Dark Way, Knights Move, Close Wounds, Ice Slick. No time to re prepare though.
I have Detect Undead.
Are you Exalted? Spontaneous Sanctified spells could be nifty, particularly Path Of The Exalted if you can abstain from casting any divination spells for the component (I have Detect Magic and Detect Undead, so no need to cast them; save those slots for healing or spontaneous sanctified spells). From your prepared spells, I gather that your Domains is Purification, so I thought you might be.
Vision Of Punishment is a good Sanctified spell to cast in a pinch too, so long as you don't cast it before Path Of The Exalted (it's divination).
>>178107Not exalted and wrong domain. Earth and War. I'll keep a few of those in mind if I have to prep more spells though.
Oops
>>178104The zeeb looks deep in thought as he looks at the concerned snej. After a moment of thought, he nods and sets his pack back down, sitting down next to it.
>>178109Kira claps her hooves together rapidly, bouncing slightly up and down. She also smiles while closing her eyes. After a couple seconds, she reaches down and gives the zeeb a big hug with her hooves. "Thank you thank you thank you thank you!"
Everyone in the room hears some kind of tripping and falling out in the hallway.
>>178097“What?” Shoal Water is concerned and confused.
Another pony - a copper colored earth pony in the hat and green uniform of Customs - placed a hoof on Dust’s shoulders, or at least, reaches out as if he is going to.
“Please” he says. “She may look threatening, but really she’s a delicate little flower. She needs somepony, err, someone, to look after her.”
>>178098“Okay…” the stallion says.
As Brie goes down the hall, or perhaps, down the stairs, he trips. He catches himself, but he fails to be as sneaky as he likes.
>>178101Unfortunate
>>178109No one is allowed to not be Kira’s friend. When you are marked for friendship by her, that’s it. You’re done for. And Defiant Dust
is marked for friendship.

>>178110The Zeeb is surprised at the sudden touch, but does reciprocate the hug, patting Kira's back.
>>178112He considers the words for a minute, and seems to accept his fate as the snej guard.
>>178098>>178112Cavaliere guffaws at the comedic timing of the batpony's trip.
"Captain, you do have a knack for picking out unusual creatures," he remarks to Shoal Water.

Brie strides calmly back into the room, no longer wearing his trenchcoat, instead a si.ple vest, midnight blue with pink pinstripe.
"There we are, my lovely associate will have all the necessary identification shortly. Shall we get down to business then?" He smilingly takes a seat. "Oh thats right, where are my manners, I havent introduced myself yet. The name's Brie Actungsechkzig" (knowlege underground might have heard of him). "A pleasure. Shall we discuss the specifics?"
>>178119He was much quieter that time. Perhaps the jacket?
Aside the >1 its actually cuz I forgot the dex bonus the first time
More backgrounds than the underground may know of Brie. He's an international criminal with ties to the Changeling Mafia/Hive, rumored to be involved in smuggling, arms dealing, counterfeiting, and a host of other felonious practices.
He drew major Baltimare news when he publicly adopted two changeling child ess ayy victims, later taking them to atheir homeland where he received a blessing from Crysalis to raise them as an emissary of sorts to the changelings, in pony land.
The child-lings were major scandals, having been bug-trafficked by a well-entrenched political figure in Baltimare, and both have been non-committally observed in the area recently, again for ponies with history/knowledge/background
>>178070>>178072"A flamethrower or two could be helpful..."
>>178126Brie gives Posey a concurring glance
>>178112Deeper voiced, and more measured
"Captain, let us level with one another. I'm going to assume that you have more or less recently found yourself in command of a modicum of incompetent ponies.
Suddenly, and not for any inactivity or lack of jurisimprudence, YOUR reputation falls into question. You found yourself responsible for their actions, their incompetence.
Obviously not the norm, but if it were we wouldnt be having this delightfully friendly conversation!" [b]He says, tansitioning mid sentence like a bipolar, startingnwith grave and menacing and ending withnplayful and jubilant
>>178128The captain sighs.
“No, that’s not the reason. It’s a fair guess, to be sure, but that isn’t the reason.”
>>178129"Indulge me then. If you were the one who put my name on your list, you didn't do it with a smile. So to what end? I can't help but assume you've read all the available reports. I hope they do.me justice."
I will work on developing a standardized indicator for when Brie is being pleasant and affable, and menacingly serious. If anyone is interested, his personality is based largely on the character Raymond Reddington, played by (the legendary) James Spader on the series "The Blacklist" (which I will never do true justice to cuz Im neither a world class actor nor do I have professional script writers, but I will do my best)
https://youtu.be/vqsI-o6xf4I?si=FMHrgTSdaQCEtRiIIs there any other pre-adventure prep?
I don't need to buy any equipment, except for maybe a flamethrower or grenade-arrows for my compound bow. It's optional though.
If anyone else is willing to contribute some gold for reagents, I could summon a Companion Spirit to buff the team.
>>178134I get the impression that when all is said and done, we will be leaving immediately
>>178134It's not done, I just have to take a little pause for IRL matters
Disclaimer: I am exceedingly excited to imageboard rp again - it just hits different when people cant fucking interrupt you... sorry - but I will try to apply the necessary discipline to not be a nuisance as a player, it is bad enough a nuisance I am as a character
Since we're using a 3.5e adaption in a modern setting, I will help everyone out with their equipment purchases by posting the d20 Modern Core rulebook purchase DC to gold piece (bits are gold pieces, right?) tables. You can look up the purchase DCs for equipment and pay the appropriate amount of bits for them. Be mindful of WWII tech level.
There's the question of access, but since we're working through a military contractor we could plausibly requisition military access equipment, with some charisma checks.
Idk what the access levels are for most 3.5e magic items are, but there are similar Wealth DCs and access tiers for FX items in d20 Arcana. Rosey Ring is, from her background, certified to use dangerous magic, so magic item purchases can be done through her if necessary.
>>178138I fucked up that screenshot... I'll find the direct conversion table somewhere.
I think 1 gp = roughly $20 though.
Oh yeah, I forgot I should probably roleplay this part:
"Oh, it looks like we might need some extra equipment to get this done smoothly. Luckily, I always keep some emergency gold on horn- WHERE'S MY BUCKING COIN PURSE?! I'VE BEEN ROBBED! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
And from that say forward, Rosey Ring swore to always keep her emergency gold in the pocket under her skin.
>>178138Respectable and generous offer of time and assistance.
I'm still a little iffy on what the available technological levels, and product availability (in general and specific to OE, I generally assume ~ww2). Thing is, there's a number of things that Brie would like if he were walking through an arms warehouse, but only a few things he would think to ask for in the moment, and while the game affords the option of going over available lists and dcs and what not, the actual asks should still reflect the circumstantial nature of the exchange
>>178141The gnoll looks over at the bat pony in the room

>>178144>I'm still a little iffy on what the available technological levels, and product availability (in general and specific to OE, I generally assume ~ww2)It's WWII-ish (Progress Level 4(, so You can probably also find 3.5e magic items that aren't setting exclusive, and/or FX SRD magic items.
>>178146Rosey Ring is not a bat: she's a unicorn, but she may sometimes sound like a bat or wolf when she loses her composure.
>>178145It's not the pocket you're thinking of.
>>178147Yes.
The Equestria at War sneak peak map included a nation called “Hyenia.” So I decided to include hyenas, and call them “gnolls” in reference to the creature in traditional D&D. Unlike D&D gnolls, which are bipedal, much larger than humanoids, always based on Spotted hyenas, and don’t live past thirty, these “gnolls” are quadrupedal “feral” hyenas, are approximately pony sized though perhaps a bit larger, and could probably live past thirty if they don’t die of other reasons first. There are two varieties, “Crocuta” which are spotted hyenas, and “Kaftar” which are striped hyenas.
Equestria at War changed Hyenia to “Qualidi Dervishes,” which are a permutation of diamond dog and ironically closer to D&D gnolls than my interpretation here in their physical appearance, but are “Harmonic,” probably just to be contrarian, as every single African and Western depiction of Spotted Hyenas from tribal legends to
The Lion King is negative prior to 2010s revisionism.
Among the characters in the room is a Kaftar gnoll.
>>178148It means he’s implying he thinks the bat pony in the room stole Posey’s coin purse.

K, heres what I have and sorry if it's obtuse:
Dusty - Zigger
SIlver - Pony
Kira - Rope
Posey - Unicorn
Garv - (((Griffon)))
Brie - Bap
Gnoll?
>>178149Uh,... I missed their introduction, my apologies
>>178149>gnoll loreCan I have permission to make a Cleric statblock for the reanimated ghoul Agire? I would like to have him as one of Posey's six NPC contacts (aka friends) that she could approach for services (as Posey would be hesitant to approach priests of any other temple), and to that end I would like him to have statistics.
I was thinking between lvls 3-8 (I'm estimating around lvl 6, based on monster manual Gnoll Organization tables, which says a leader should be lvl 6-8), but just let me know the appropriate level. Gravetouched Ghoul with either the temporary or permanent version of the Yeenoghu-blooded template. Domains would be Demonic and Hunger (having been raised to undeath by the King of Ghouls and Gnolls). If lvl 6 he'd have the Bane Of Infidels prestige class. Feats would be Sacrificial Mastery and Sacrificial Divination, and maybe Leadership to qualify for Bane Of Infidels (unless prereq stricken, because NPC). General Build is based on Sacrifice because it represents his character development having been reborn from sacrifice. Regional background would be Gnoll. Starting Occupation would be Religious. All his skillpoints would be in Religion (Gnoll ghoul means very low int), unless Cloistered Cleric (he seemed like more of the scholarly type than the fighting type, but idk if Gnoll priests would ever be cloistered). Armor would be Lamellar, because he's middle Eastern coded.
I just really like making statblocks, and other players were making secondary characters, so I was just wondering.
>Spotted vs Striped hyenasI take it that means Kaftars are monster manual Gnolls, and Crocuttas are Flinds (the larger, fiercer variety of Gnoll that is like a hobgoblin to a goblin)? Or are Crocuttas Leucrottas? (The quadrupedal magical beast created alongside Gnolls)?
>>178150The Gnoll is an NPC, presumably one of Silver's followers or NPC-contacts.
>>178149>Equestria at War changed Hyenia to “Qualidi Dervishes,” which are a permutation of diamond dog and ironically closer to D&D gnollsThis might have been influenced by David Silver's Ponyfinder calling diamond dogs in his setting "Gem Gnolls". David Silver is surprisingly influential in things like this, even though Everglow's world-building is utter shit.
>>178152The gnoll is named Mala, he's a good boy and he's Silver's cohort
>>178155How many cohorts do you have? What level is Silver?
>>178156Silver is level 6, and Mala is his first and so far only cohort
>>178157Oh. Alright. I thought was Kira was a cohort.
>>178158Kira is a strong independent Noodle
The gnoll stands up and raises his head. He moves his eyes across the room.
“Um… I’m… Mala Mata… I haven’t done anything like this before…” he looks around and stands in awkward silence for four seconds. Then he sits back down.
>>178152>Can I have permission to make a Cleric statblock for the reanimated ghoul Agire?>I was thinking between lvls 3-8 (I'm estimating around lvl 6, based on monster manual Gnoll Organization tables, which says a leader should be lvl 6-8)When Agire was first introduced into the campaign as an enemy to be fought and killed by the party alongside three other NPCs, he was probably level 4. He’s an apprentice, not a full blown lead priest.
>I take it that means Kaftars are monster manual Gnolls, and Crocuttas are Flinds (the larger, fiercer variety of Gnoll that is like a hobgoblin to a goblin)? Or are Crocuttas Leucrottas? (The quadrupedal magical beast created alongside Gnolls)? If I don’t have to make stat blocks for NPCs, I don’t make stat blocks for NPCs. Posey did not chose to be hostile to any of the gnoll communities
despite that being the intent, so they weren’t given stats. However I generally use player stats for normalish enemies and allies.
>>178160Silver goes over to his gnoll friend, and gives him some pets on top of the head.
Silver: "It is okay, my friend. Tell us about some of your strengths. Like, well, your strength. You are as strong as I am, at least."
>>178159I have secondary characters on back burner (one Nightstalker, one Shadowbane Inquisitor/Blackguard/Bone Knight, one Binder / Ur Priest / Tenebrous Apostate; Nightstalker's Subsidiaries would be a Siren, a Master Of The Unseen Hand, and a Lurking Terror / Assassin; one undecided dragon), but I was waiting for Posey to reach appropriate level get Leadership + Undead Leadership + Mentor + Guildmaster + Dragon Cohort and have cohorts/followers.
>>178160>When Agire was first introduced into the campaign as an enemy to be fought and killed by the party alongside three other NPCs, he was probably level 4. He’s an apprentice, not a full blown lead priest.Thank you.
Mala closes his eyes and smiles as his ears are moved side to side. He stands and speaks again,
“I can fight. I don’t want to say how I know, but uh, I can use a gun, I can use a sword, and I can tackle and bite. Silver here brought me along, and I have fought alongside Silver before. I dint know anything about airships or islands, but uh… I can also move things and pick things up, if that helps. I’m pretty strong.”
He sits back down
>>178163As like a cohort, or…?
>>178164Silver gives his gnoll friend some more pets.
Silver: "Good job. I should also say that he was part of group that helped clear Hoebuck. He can very much handle himself in fight, and he is very good friend to have."
Kira, meanwhile - who up to now has been silently contemplating the mission and the island - slithers up to Free Rover, tapping her hooves together.
Kira: "So, um...did you really mean that about me being beautiful?"
>>178164DC
[1d20+2 = (17+2) = 19] check to notice Brie genuinely smile at this one
>>178165Sorry, Free Rover?
Sorry, but Im gonna need a quick rundown on how many ponies/etc are actually here.
I have 5 characters and one cohort. Who else?
>>178167Free Rover isn't part of the group, he's just one of the Customs ponies in the room at the moment. It seems as though him and Kira do have at least a bit of history, even if it's only recent history.
>>178168Ah, sorry for missing that detail
>>178165Mala smiles, and lowers his head to accept more pets. Then he tilts his head into the pets.
Free Rover comes up, places a hoof on Kira’s mane, and pets her.
“You’re a gorgeous creature. I like snakes, and I like mares, and, well, you’re a rather exotic specimen. Like none I’ve ever seen. But I’d bet that even back home, you’d stand out. I wish I could keep one like you.”
>>178167He’s the sexist customs officer that it was “based” for Posey to walk past. He’s the one that lead all of the party members to the room. He’s an NPC from Kira’s story and is present in the room, but will not be going with the party, unlike Mala.
>>178170Oh, that makes sense. The middle "officer" who might suffer later for wasting Brie's time. I have his name wrotten down in the "for later" items
>>178170Kira smiles as she receives the pets. The very end of her tail taps against the ground.
Kira: "So, um...after this mission is over, would you like...to...um..." She taps her hooves together some more, and blushes deeply. "...go on a...date?"
[1d20+2 = (3+2) = 5] Bluff
(When I do this, players can contest with their spot check to notoce)
(Its fine if u dont wanna/care, Im just inviting characters to use skills to glean subtext)
Sorry, this is a rant:
One of the biggest issues with non-vidya rpgs is the inability to interface. By that, I mean the GM is the only interface.
I think thats horseshit.
I think players should responsibly commit to being an interface, in a manner of speaking. Calling out possible checks and things, knowing what the character is doing and keeping it open to other players
So to this end, I apologize if its annoying at times, any time Brie rolls a skill - even a minimal story/context one (like not betraying you know something) Ill do a bluff/whatever check
>>178171He’s had entirely zero interactions with Brie. He didn’t even lead Brie to the room.
>>178172He moves his hoof to scritch Kira’s ears, and then places it on her chin.
Then his eyes go wide and he breathes in, phtieudskky moving back an inch.
“Date?!” After a moment’s pause, he eases up and smiles. “Oh, just like a meeting to talk. Maybe see how you’re adjusting, and how well you’ve failed.. Looks like you’ve already eaten, so maybe not a dinner or lunch.”

>>178181Unfortunately, in this case the bluff check was precipitated on the idea that Kira was talking to the same middle-officer that Brie was, which has been sussed to be inaccurate.
If it HAD been, Broe's expression would have expressed amused pity, cuz he was contemplating killing that pony later.
>>178177Kira blinks, then blinks again. She continues to blush, as she looks away from Rover. She sounds just the slightest bit disappointed.

>>178187No. This is a surprise round :p
>>178189There's also no way for you to detect it :p
>>178190Youre about to make this go badly. I will wait on gm
In the interim, there is a case yo be made that posey could pull whatever theyre trying to do.
But that has consequences, and GM doesnt want to deal with what would happen whether this attempt succeded and eventually lapsed OR it failed outright

“Oh, well we can go out for lunch anyways. Especially when you need to eat again in, what? Two weeks? A month. That’s a big goat you got there. Must be a quarter your size. I’m not surprised though you needed to eat after that long journey. Are you moving well? Do you feel up to moving about?”
