Ambergriff wonders her way through the bog at night, looking for safety. Silver leads a heroic assault on the infiltrators before they can destroy the city. Both will have to wake soon...

Hopefully Spark's line will continue soon as well.

If Gloomy is sitting on the right side, and he presumably would be, he'd have a view of the passing rows of townhouses, of the great basilica, of the parks, most likely of the courthouse and the center square, and of the high-rise office buildings and hotels off in the distance. It isn't that long before the car turns south and takes them over the river, and towards smaller towns with a brick elementary school, a fire station, small grocery stores, and many single houses. But more than this, the ponies start to see trees, those these are barren limbed oak and chestnut trees.

Evidently Posie isn't pleased with the line of admittedly very awkward conversation.

He turns left off of a road to a gate, gets out and unlocks it, then drives down a dirt road, with open field to each side that is overgrown with grass and saplings. Posie can see field sunken into water, submerged forest, and what must have been orchards at one point, that have since gone feral. It isn't long at all until she arrives at a manor house like that belonging to a grand plantation, though exactly what that plantation once grew is hard to say. There are white pillars at the entrance, wide windows and tall ceilings for a manor that is two stories, with a third or an attic at points, as indicated by the windows.

"And we're here"

Dark Star wakes up to multiple sensations. The room is cold, but he's under a nice warm blanket. In lieu of a pillow between his legs, he has a rather large and soft mare, though she produces less heat than he may prefer. At least her fur is soft, and her ears press against his chin. He feels a little hung over though. Light is coming into the room from the window.

And then Dark Star remembers that zebras exist, and he feels much worse.

It is amazingly blue. Actually it's closer in color to white, and really kind of like a bluish tinted white, and even then it's a kind of greenish blue. But still. It's very blue. Dark Star is probably thirsty.

Alrighty then. Dark Star is at least made less thirsty. So that's an improvement.

Looking inside, there is a wooden floor, a wooden staircase leading up to a second floor railing, old furniture off to the right, and a door entering to what seems to be a dining room on the left.

"Lament?" Mason looks around, moving towards the stairs.

From the left, out from the doorway, Posie sees a new form. It's a mare, evidently a zebra with a pink coat and gray and black stripes, in a black dress with her mane tied back, comes out

"He's still sleeping" she says with an accent distinct not only from Posie's North Griffonian accent, but even the equestrian accents Posie has heard.

"I'm coming"

Nearly stumbling down, following Mason is a fairly tall but still slender black unicorn stallion in a black cloak. His mane is white and disheveled, and his eyes are deep purple. He looks discombobulated, and he seems to have difficultly even making it down the stairs. All the same, he arrives at the bottom of the landing.

"Rosie Ring, is it?!" He nearly yells, looking over to Posie with lidded (probably tired) eyes.

Posie may sit on a similar couch near it positioned at a ninety degree angle to the couch, and also by the table.

"Well the police have already swarmed the building, though we can retroactively add evidence. The simplest answer is that it was a raid for illegal weapons trafficking - and they had illegal weapons. But that suggests that the Blackhooves in Baltimare are going to crack down on the Waterfront Gang, and that's not a war we are looking to start. Not now. Another explanation would be that this raid was connected to the Comte case, because they were trafficking foals. Which they were. But that would suggest that the Blackhooves are trying to enforce criminal laws, and especially a criminal case that implicates a member of the SDP council, which is an assault on the SPD, which is not acceptable. What we cannot do is to provide no explanation at all. Because then, you have a Blackhooves agent and a volunteer killing six Baltimare civilians. That would be a declaration of war upon the citizens of Baltimare, and that is absolutely not acceptable. Better in that case to turn the agent over to the local authorities to be hanged as a murderer."

By saying we are making raids on criminal organizations to enforce a criminal law, we are making it unambigious that we are not trusting or allowing the SDP to enforce criminal laws, at least as concerns one of its own. He gets up, goes towards a door behind the stairs, and then through another room with more couches and book shelves that seems to be a study, and then through a door outside, onto a porch. In the back is open grass, and trees past a low area, but he walks towards the left towards a small building that seems to be a kind of guest house. Through a door, Lament opens it, and goes to a simple double bed that has an object on it it under covers. He pulls the covers off

Posie sees the corpse of a zebra mare, still partly dressed in a black cape, that has been cut up and shot multiple times. The eyes are wide open, and oddly red. There is some abnormal quality to it, not the least of which is that it doesn't seem to be decaying despite being laid out in the ambient air. It isn't hard at all to guess the cause of death, as the oddly bloodless cuts are more than enough explanation.

>practitioner of a voodoo religion from the great lakes region of Zebrica, and then, likely a creole Equestrian variant
"Ah, voodoo. Quite a few arts of necromancy have roots in Zebrican tradition, especially when it comes to reanimation. Zebras have an odd knack for it."

Those stab wounds aren't bloodless because they were inflicted by magic. They are bloodless because the heart stopped beating before the wounds were inflicted. This creature died by violence, was reanimated, and then cut down again

It's Day Low Rain who answers,
"This was my cousin"

Then Lament
"A Voodoo sorceress by the name of Rue Dumare. She was one of the better sorceresses in this region. She was killed in a raid by Customs agents about four nights ago, along with several other prominent locals."

"Well, in that regard you are lucky. We have voodoo practioners here in these swamps."

"More or less, yes. There's an ocean between us Old Worlders and Mageholders, and more difference than that between us in mindset. We exist among the living, distinct and above them, but not entirely seperate from them. And a part of that is always remaining hidden. The governments here, there is more than one, go through phases of being wilfully blind to everything, and then overreacting on crackdowns. More good magicians than her were killed that night. You would have had more mentors to look up to, if only you came a week earlier."

He looks down at the corpse
"But part of the reason is to see if she can be of any service in death. Such a pitty to lose her..."

"I can't reanimate her quite yet (unless I move some stuff around on my character sheet, which I might), although she might rise again supernaturallly based on the conditions of her grave. It's not uncommon for mages of her profession to spontaneously reanimate after death. For now, it's best that she be kept somewhere cold and dry."
>"Now, you are thinking right"
Posie smiles
"I guess we should get to business then. I'll head out shortly, although I prefer to travel at night."

I'm really tired, so I think I'll turn in for tonight. Maybe that'll give you some time to write stuff and whatnot.
I had fun though. Looking forward to the next chance to play.

They have a set up in a room with plates, coffee, tea, orange juice, milk, fruit, muffins, toast... even waffles. There are a few other ponies and creatures in the room, also eating.

Orange Juice, Toast, and Waffles it is. Options for jam are apple, and strawberry. Just those two.

Different tables, like a dining room, with a buffet set up for the breakfast. It's pretty obvious that they just set up breakfast in exactly the same manner and style as existed in the hotel that's being used as the headquarters. Felippe and Jacques are together, while Moonlit Meadow (the bat pony mare) is to herself. There are also empty tables.
