>>149730She uses her hoof to move one of them forward. While each of the firearms is slightly different looking, they are all sort of just cylinders of grey and black metal attached to wood of various lengths, and no factor of appearance stands out to Iron as meaningful in one way or another. Black Cauldron says
"This one right here is a hunting rifle. Equestrian, I think. It'll fire a medium sized bullet a good range. Operate the action by moving the lever. There are seven shots in total, reload by placing a cartridge though the side. It's kind of a medium length, maybe a little easier to hide, but still very long.
To demonstrate this, she places the rifle on the end of the bed, and with her right hoof, cocks the lever. Notably, she has to rest the fore of the rifle on the bed, as it isn't really easily operated with a single leg. She moves another forward.
"This one here, I think is an older Equestrian military rifle. Or maybe it was Zebrican. I don't really know. It's also operated with a lever, but it's a single shot. You pull the lever down, and place a cartridge in there."
She physically does this, again needing to prop it against the bed.
"It fires a very large bullet, kind of slowly. Decent power. This one is also a carbine. It's shorter, easier to hide."
She picks up another with her foreleg, bringing it beside her.
"This is, I think, a Griffin military rifle from like fifty years ago. Turn the bolt handle up, then back, then forward, then down. Reload it by placing a clip... that may be harder to show you, actually. But it'll hold five rounds, and you can reload it with a clip. As you can see, it's the largest and longest of all of these guns, but it also shoots the furthest, and fires the fastest bullet. It'll be hard to conceal though. Oh. And for all of these, lift the rifle." She does this, as she did the same with the bolt "Look down the sights like so... and pull the trigger."
click "To bring death to your enemy. Unless that enemy is something like a manticore. Then you probably just made it mad. Still though."
She places this last gun on the bed.
"As I think you've already gathered, none of these are really very easy to use for a quadruped who can't fly and doesn't have magic. You'd have to either have it on your side in a sling, use it prone, or prop it up on something. These are also extremely loud, and the Fascists really don't like ponies having these things... not that the old government or Baltimare allowed it either, but still it's the kind of thing not to be caught with. But I think at least one probably needs to come with us.
If you'd prefer, you can carry a hatchet, a shovel, or even a hammer. We'll probably need to carry most of those things anyways, just because of the work that needs to be done. Just be aware, there could be things stronger than you out there."
