>>149320Khoi Lua, sounding frustrated:
"Superstitious zebras closed down the restaurant for the day."
Jubilosa, sympathetic:
"What is it? Some kind of holiday?"
Khoi:
"No. They didn't like the shade of the moon last night, or something. Closed down the restaurant on a perfectly good work day."
Jubilosa:
"Well enjoy a day off. There weren't going to be many customers today anyways, with the weather as it is. It looks like more rain."
Khoi:
"Less work means less income."
Jubilosa:
"They'll probably still pay you for the missing day. And what do you need money for? You have-"
Jubilosa seems to cut herself off, and mumbles something. Notably, she looks over at Silver and recognizes his presence in the room. Paper Clipping fills the silence:
"The zebra folk are right to be worried. The Fascists are planning a crackdown."
Khoi:
Flat "What."
Paper Clipping:
"It's been on the airwaves all morning. They are restricting travel between cities. Removing the civilian population from rural areas. They have even begun to start a 'volunteer' auxiliary force of locals. They are sectioning off large areas of the countryside and are going to clear them of anyone who resists. This is just the beginning."
Khoi:
"What are you talking about?"
Paper Clipping:
"On the Radio. This morning. Evacuating whole areas."
Jubilosa:
"I'm sure it's just heavy rains, or something."
Paper Clipping:
"No no. This is exactly how they do it. Pretend there is an emergency. You don't know they are coming down on you until they have their hoof on your neck."
Khoi:
"What does that have to do with my job as a cook?"
Paper Clipping:
"It has everything to do with it. Workers everywhere, especially non-ponies, are in danger."
Jubilosa:
"That...
does sound kind of like what happened in Sicameon..."
Paper Clipping:
"You see! I hope ponies, err, creatures see through this-"
