/mlp/ had a drastic decline in qualite since the first Scruffening in Summer 2013. The site has been in steady decline ever since. Not just in regards to writers. Poster Population, Poster quality, Content Quality, Art. The MLP Fanbase in general is stuck in a downward spiral for years along with the actual cartoon. Nowadays the inhabitants simply cant but out this grade of content anymore, its unheard of. /mlp/ is dull as a rusty spoon now.

This would have happened anyways, noting ever stays at the top of its game. But the Scruffenings and the Influx of SJWs and newfags hurt the board so much it has been on life support for years.

that was by far the biggest and most severe one (which happened right after Lauren Faust did an AMA on the board with a bunch of her toelickers, even moot posted on /mlp/)

Summer 2015
a scruffening of moderate size that managed to alienate a number of thread regulars and preexisting posting culture (this was largly driven by leftycuck mods who felt the board was in bad shape)

And 1 smaller Scruffening in 2016 I believe.

Also dishonorable mention for all the miniscruffenings that happen each time they hire new mods after a mod/janitor application phase. they constantly fuck up the board. Example for this are the post trump election Scruffening that occured between November 2016 and January 2017.
