>>1301 I have mixed feelings on this subject. On the one hand it could be pretty neat, but having looked at Leftypol it looks like they over use it, and I would want ideology flags to drown out country flags. My top preference would be that flags are like they are on Polandball Reddit, where some users have icons that are specific and chosen (like a Texas flag), but most have ones that presumably correspond to the country their IP is from.
>>1301 Actually, one solution could be that people just request flags on the /qa/ board, and moderators manually change their flags to whatever specific requested flag. That would mean that people could have unique flags if they really want them, but it wouldn't be so common as to disrupt the current flag system, and would probably require less coding than making a new choose-your flag feature
>>1304 This feature is supported by the imageboard software already. We just haven't enabled it. We also have the forced-flag system that you described. Currently we can force user's flags to Israel, Gypsies, and Canadians for funposting purposes.
Discussion on this topic is welcome. Although it doesn't guarantee that it will be enabled, what other flags would you like to see? Do you think they should be limited to political ideologies, or should they be more 4chon-like?
I personally don't think that a 4chon-style flags are a good idea. But I think ideology flags could be fun, so long as they're only used when relevant.
>>1305 I did not even know 4chon existed. I went there to see their flag system and it just looks terrible. I rather like the location-based country flags we have now. But there have been times that I've wanted my own Texas flag
>>1305 >what other flags would you like to see? Do you think they should be limited to political ideologies, or should they be more 4chon-like? A mix of both. For example, you can perhaps have a kekistani flag while still having a majority of ideological flags. Ideology flags seem like the best shot, and I like the idea >>1304 this messages in case there's over saturation.
As for suggested flags, here's a list from me: >NatSoc Germany flag >White Power cross flag whatever it's called) >Kekistan flag (not fully suggested) >Fasce flag >Texas flag >Gadsen/"Don't tread on me" flag >Uncucked Canadian flag (the one with the crest) >Rebublican lion flag
I never liked the ideology flags. They always just encourage people to let the their flgs talk for them, and promoted factional bullshit within board discussion. Also, we're far too small at this point for this to not immediately become cancerous: this board is too small to retain its anonymity if everyone can easily point out "that one guy who is a National Capitalist".
>>1579 Ideology flags were actually included in the last upgrade, although they have to be manually changed by moderators. That particular flag is not included in the current set of available flags, however
>>1681 The Princevlag flag is uploaded. If you want, we can change your flag now. You will not be able to see the flag, nor will others be able to see it, until your respective browser caches are cleared
>>1732 Yes. As always with new flags, because of difficulties associated with changing the code and rebuilding, it may not be uploaded for a couple days when it can packaged alongside new features uploaded to the website (It should be up before July 4). What name would you like to go with the flag?
Should VPN users have special flags? Doesn't seem to matter but it has the potential to be confusing, and the other day a poster asked if mods could manually change flags to the "right" one. We could be Equestria for example. Not sure myself, just putting it out there.
>>1753 While "Oldest Glory" was uploaded as a forced flag option with the July 4 flag set, it appears to have been removed when the flags were returned to normal on July 5. So your flag will now have to be included in the next upload
Did you still want "waifu thief" uploaded as a forced flag?
>>1757 >>1769 Uh... You know Hezbollah is designated as an international terrorist organization by the US and several other governments, right? And that they've done things to earn this designation? Give the staff time to consider this request.
Also, should we grant it, what babe do you want for the flag?
>>1788 We considered our request and determined that you can have the Hezbollah flag, but we want you to know that you're a faggot for wanting the flag of an anti-American Islamic terrorist organization.
It already uploaded with the name "Hezbolla." I'll set it to being your flag now. Tell us if you want a different name for it
>>1794 >>1795 I am not the flag mod, and I was told I must stop sympathizing and being so kind all of the time. I blame sleep deprivation. So... you have homosexual tendencies. There, I said it. >No homo
Could I get the Equestrian flag? Posted >>1735 previously, and just don't want to give people the wrong location. I'm assuming I have to ask every time the IP changes, but at least there's only a few and it doesn't happen very often.
>>1902 Thank you. Posting here just got 20% more comfy.
>>1901 Yes, VPN providers usually don't keep public lists of what IPs are theirs so you're right of course. That leaves doing it volontarily/manually. I'll bother someone in this thread if and when the IP changes - but it will just cycle through 4-5 different servers (depending on which ones has spare capacity) so hopefully it won't be too annoying.
>>1904 Hi tried to make a flag for Black Sun, but as I'm no artist it didn't quite convey the style of the original. Problem is that you're restricted to an image of 16x11 (WxH) pixels, and trying to fit a complex symbol while keeping it legible can be problematic. Let me know if you want what I have, or hopefully you are able to make a better flag. >pic related
>>2066 We could of course. Do you have one to recommend that has a solid background? >>2065 I'll go ahead and set it then. Be advised that to retain a flag, you have to keep posting from the same IP. When you change IPs, your new IP will display the geo-location flag
>>2167 We have uploaded that image as a flag with the name "Meme War Veteran" and have set it as the flag for that IP. However, be advised that the flag remains with an IP - when you switch IPs, you lose the forced flag, and a geo-flag will show instead. You can of course ask again if your IP switches
>>3120 You don't seem to have a forced flag, nor is an American forced flag an option. I recall a little over three months ago there was an Australian with a similar issue, whose flag displayed as American even though he was certain of an Australian IP address. Perhaps your current IP cluster was formerly American, and our system has not updated to reflect the change.
>>3132 >>3134 We can of course change your flag to that, however, there is concern that the detail in the flag may not show well in the very small flag. Perhaps some of the options in >>3147 are prefered?
>>3160 You changed IPs. Forced flags attach to specific IPs, but only to that IP. I'm guess judging by writing style and geo-flag you are the same as had the Aryanne Brotherhood flag? If so, would you like that or any other flag?
Must have been a power shortage at my house while i was away, that happenes sometimes. thought my IP was recognizeable by regio to the server and would give me the same custom flag again. I never change my IP on my own.
Yes, I would very much like the same flag again. Thank you.
I have to say the switching IP thing keep being a nuisance. It would probably be the better choice if the Admin team would just implement a custom flag dropdown menu, alternatively with a mandatory tag that always shows the origin country by hovering.
I dont really feel like bothering people in this thread just because my router was accidently resetted after a power failure or other nonsense.
>>3691 Thanks Lotus, doing good work out there. Keep on doing your best, and I'll do my best to support from the sidelines! not sure why I added that last bit, but it has seemed like you're doing everything lately, and that people haven't been as appreciative of the hard workers here as they should.
Well, it is my belief that we should not only include flags representing the conservative side, but also give ideology flags for the leftists as well, although we may not agree with them, it gives them a more equal space on mlpol.
