The new code is done (except a few polishing touches, and hopefully no bugs), thusly I will move the site over to the new server running the new code in one of the coming days. Hopefully this won't result in too long downtime. I am aiming for less than half an hour downtime, but things could take a little longer. I hope the move will go smoothly and that you will like the new code and that it will run nicely for you all. Treat it well and report any problems you encounter and I will try to fix them in a timely manner.
>one thing to mention just in case - the new code requires JavaScript turned on to post
>>265314 >I hope you have a good reason for it. Mainly reason is that file upload function is using javascript ajax streaming of files, and I haven't had time to work on a non-js function for it. Making the code run on non-js configs is in the backlog and I am aiming to be able to get it (hopefully) working eventually. But there is many functions like deleting of posts and the capcha functionality that rely on JS, so getting basic functionality on the new code to run without JS could take some time (because I am getting a bit tired of doing this rewrite and want to do something else so my focus will be on bugfixes if any).
>>265317 >Are there screenshots of the new software? The site itself will look and work more or less identical to how it is now, so you should not see any big differences (except hopefully that it will run smoother).
>>265319 >capcha functionality If this is going to be deployed, the server sending the capcha will belong to...? Layman posting here. As I understand it, javascript is powerful to do a lot of stuff but also worrisome.
>>265325 The Captcha (if ever turned on) is entirely written by myself so no external 3rd party service is used. All the code js and js libraries will be hosted on our servers so no external loading of javascript from external cdn's or the like.
Besides the js written by me the following javascript (and css) libraries are used: >jquery, jqueryui, jqueryui-touch-punch, font-awesome, prettify, dexie, mixitup, flag-icon-css, apexcharts, datatables.net, balloon-css, jquery-dateFormat, jquery-cookie, wPaint
>>265327 >The Captcha (if ever turned on) is entirely written by myself so no external 3rd party service is used. Thank you.
>>265428 It looks good, but it'll take some time to get used to it as a phone fag. The quick replay box being dragable, and resizeable is pretty damn nice. The image uploaded system looks nice. Renaming the files is pretty nifty, and funny.
Just need to get used to the new style for mobile. Excellent work.
>>265428 That was quick! I was gone for one hour, refreshed the page and was greeted with a disclaimer. It looks really nice, but for me there is no space between the posts when using the Yotsuba themes. Anyway, I love the new theme!
>>265428 The only things I don't quite like is the minimize button shifting all the posts over, and the words are split/wrap around to the next line. Such as thi s for an ext reme exam ple. Alot of empty space made on the side that isn't being used for other stuff. A horizontal break for me is less of a problem. It makes perfect sense from the html/java perspective on how it wraps the post. Being on its own makes minimizing easier to tap. It's not a functionality I personally use that much.
For regular browsers it looks great. The line/word/letter wrap is odd, but everything else is superb.
It looks really slick plus the (You) functionality is pretty neat.
Forgot to add this to the post. The image hover over works great! Minor complaint is the quick reply for mobile is 50% down the page. 15% ish would be nice then it won't be caught with the keyboard popping up. For regular browsers it's works perfectly. I'll report back if I find anything else.
Also [color#00bfff](You)[/color] are [color#630000]awe[/color][color#fff200]some![/color]

>>265433 I'll look into the minimize and shifting (works in my world and head, but I will try out more configurations). The [Enter] key bug is a known one and sadly has it roots as long back as the first typewriters. Smarter men than me have tried to find and solution to it and come up empty.
>>265434 >>265435 Thanks... I'll also add an extra regex to catch non space in color tags. As for now they also only support 256 colors 000->FFF just to put a tiny limitation to the possibilities.

>>265441 >>265442 I'll check out the CSS and fix the wrapping of words. I might have added it to prevent some far fetch edge case that never will happen, and instead caused a worse commonly occurring bug.

>>265457 >>265459 There is a limit on the server side (or should be). I just never added a limit on the html form. The Emojis in filenames is a work in progress, that I had in place, but when I moved stuff over from old code it did it a different way so I ended up with a small mess that sort of worked. But due to a bug I oversaw I had to disable it just after activating the new code. I will be fixing that in the coming days hopefully. ... Added to the to-do list.

Bit of an issue I noticed, moved over portions of threads do not appear to have replies listed. Clicking on Archive also appears to do nothing, though I'm guessing that moving over all of the active threads is a priority. Just wanted to make sure you knew, I've been waiting for this shit for months now and I really appreciate the work you've done Pupper <3. It looks good.

>>265480 >>265488 If you encounter any files (video, audio) that should have worked, please upload it compressed and I will look into it. Reason is that the verifying of filetypes is a bit stricter in new code and not only relying on file-extension alone. So hopefully this is just some teething problems and as I build the database of file headers this will hopefully in the end eventually cover all valid formats.

Impressive! One thing though, maybe don't have the View All etc. buttons on both the top and bottom of thread previews on the board. It makes sense to have them on the thread page itself, but when they're so close together it looks clunky and redundant.
One bug: I use control+letter for quick formatting. Beforehand, the system was smart enough to put the cursor in the center of the formatting code ([ i]|[ /i], but now it puts it at the end ([ i][ /i]|). This is a minor nuisance.
It appears that any names that were used weren't carried over. I understand how names may be undesirable, but they do serve a purpose and sometimes I'll search for greens by writefag name. Any way that they can be restored to previous threads?

The "Auto Update" feature hangs randomly. Confirmed in different pages. The first pic shows a just opened tab with the last post done by me. The second pics shows the same page, opened a few hours ago in other tab, but the update is hanged.
>>265614 I know there is a potential small bug in the "Auto update" that I am trying to iron out. I haven't fully pinpointed the reason. Some could be due to updates to the server I am doing in the background, where the server gives an error while restarting resulting in the updater hanging.
I see there is some problems regarding loading of threads that have been archived. Hopefully it is only them that are affected. I am going to get them fixed so archived threads, those who have dropped off the bottom of the catalog, will be loadable. But since it looks like it is only archived threads that are affected I will be put a bit on the back burner (and do it alongside the search functions). I can increase the page count so they will get back on and loadable, but not sure if that is desired (wanted by you the users).
Threads updating after closing and reopening your computer while being at that thread just doesn't happen anymore. Used to be that posts would be updated very quickly, but now you can wait for several minutes and it will be stuck at "Updating…" necessitating a refresh.
>>265631 >but now you can wait for several minutes and it will be stuck at "Updating…" necessitating a refresh. Reason for this I think is due to the caching being done a bit different now than before. My hope is that this will "smoothen out" as threads are being rendered and loaded by users. I will try to keep an eye on it and optimize it as much as possible. As of now I am logging more debug data than what is needed (load of functions and such) just to notice any critical errors I might have missed. Later I will tweak this to focus on load times and try to find bottlenecks to optimize database queries and other potential slow spots. tl;dr; I hope this is only teething problems, but I will keep an eye on it and do my best to optimize the code and caching.
>>265637 >Unable to read spoilers on mobile upon click. I thought I had sort of fixed it, but I will do some more tweaking of the CSS and JS to get the spoiler to work as it should. Only got an Android and and old iPhone 4 (that don't like js at all) to test with, but I will do some browsing and reading, and hopefully get it working by tomorrow.

Pupper, sorry to be a downer, but it looks like this new code it's not so appealing like the old one. The post count is tanking, mine included. I miss the old real time statistics, the new one is useless. The report posts doesn't work. I can't delet when I screw up. The catalog looks different. The page head looks... different, like too much empty real state and it's discouraging (a subjective opinion but that's the feeling). The separator between post still doesn't look right.
>>265660 >>265663 >I miss the old real time statistics The new statistics should be as up to date as the old ones (updated once an hour), but I will look at it to see if there is tweaks needed. >The report posts doesn't work. In the Options dialog, the changes done are only valid for the current page, any other tab being opened will reset to default. Using the "Save Settings" option and reloading the "mlpol.settings.json" file will result in a blank Options dialog.

I really like some new features, but this is torture. Formerly when I waited a minute for a video to upload to 100% only to receive a timed-out message, that was annoying, but now instead of a compact message I get this.
>>265750 >that was annoying, but now instead of a compact message I get this. I am going to tweak the error system to avoid that. >>265716 Yeah, I found out about the dragging option, thankfully. It's a Samsung Galaxy J1. Admitted smaller and older than some, but it's what I've got.
Also, do you think you'll ever reintroduce the drag n' drop feature for posting images? It was very useful to have, particularly when posting multiple images at once for things like the porn thread.
>>265769 >Also, do you think you'll ever reintroduce the drag n' drop feature for posting images? It was very useful to have, particularly when posting multiple images at once for things like the porn thread. I will do that. You can select multiple images in the "Add file(s)..." and all selected will be added. But I will do all I can to get drag and drop to the files.
This might be the most autistic complaint so far, which is why I'm self-saging. What I have liked about some imageboards is that the poster ID was a 24-bit hex number. The colored background was then defined by the ID, which acted as the colours hex-code. If I, for example, had the ID 14ad88, the background would have the colour #14ad88 which would resemble a color similar to teal. It's not urgent at all, but there is a certain beauty in reusing resources like that
>>265773 What this double posting nigger (me) didn't realize, IDs have always worked like that here. So changing the way IDs work would probably be impossible
>>265773 >What I have liked about some imageboards is that the poster ID was a 24-bit hex number. I will think about changing it to that. I will hopefully make up my mind soon so the ID count on threads don't get too skewed.
>>265775 >IDs have always worked like that here. So changing the way IDs work would probably be impossible It is not impossible to change the IDs as they are only thread specific and not a critical part.
>>265769 Added Drag and Drop, so now you can drop files in the same area as the "Add file(s)..." button (and image links). There is a tiny chance to get an wrong drop (if the background isn't darker) something about how the browsers render the DOM I think.
One of my hobbies is finding what fucked up shit I can with the school computers, what weird unblocked sites I can find.
Because of Coronachan, the rest of my senior year has been canceled -- they've loaned us chromebooks to use for schoolwork. The filters are preloaded into the chromebooks, so I can't browse 4chan and reddit and youtube all day. Mlpol is one of the few bastions on the internet I have left, at least when it comes to exploring through the chromebook.
Wizchan got blocked -- I used to use it all the time because it was one of the few unblocked chans, and I'm not even an incel. I showed Dreamchan (shoutout to that website I love the hell out of it dreamch.net) to another kid and i guess he got caught looking at it because it like //immidiately// got blocked right after. Lainchan is about an anime i never watched so I never hang out there and the rest of the chans I know that are unblocked are dead/inactive/boring. I love mlpol I really do. I like horsepussy and I like the fact that I'm white and male. Heres to hoping the tech guys aren't monitoring this bullshit from home.
I really wonder why /mlpol/ is unblocked though... Its a point of curiosity to me what the algorithm for blocking a website is. Also because its fucking dysfunctional. They block the images through wikipedia because middle schoolers were looking at erotic content through it, but if I get on duckduckgo and turn the search filter off the amount of porn I find is staggering. That and places like this manage to stay unblocked. its pretty nifty
>>265800 School filters are pretty fucked. I graduated last year and from the inception of 4channel to the moment I got my diploma, that shit was unblocked. Mlpol was unblocked of course, as was twitter. But for some reason, pastebin was blocked. The people who maintain those filters aren't always the best at their jobs, but hey at least it'll be over for you soon too. Unless you're lying about being a senior and are actually underageb&...
>>265800 >I really wonder why /mlpol/ is unblocked though I think it's because of its size. Even SJWs run away from the horsefucker karaoke. The advantage of this, at least for me, it allowed me to browse /mlpol/ in business hours from computers in exhibition at many malls and retail chains; the experience is priceless.
>>265801 I'm really 18 -- if pupper or ((any mods? does this place have active mods??)) need me to privately verify I will
>from the inception of 4channel goddamn, have you been around that long?
I grew up on reddit and eventually realized it was shit and then I started hanging out on 4chan, and then I realized that that place was shit too. I still on get on the chins more than i do on reddit. Its hard to find good places on the internet to hang out anymore.
>>265803 I don't think its because of its size, theres a lot of smaller and bigger chans out there that are unblocked. I've conceptualized that each website has some sort of tag to it about what its content it, or the filtering algorythm works to identify the type of content that a website produces (sometimes erroneously -- i had to fight to get the anarchist library, which had been categorized as a forum, unblocked).
>>265804 Not the inception of 4chan, the inception of 4channel, which was gookmoot splitting all of the sfw boards off onto another domain. I've been lurking on 4chan since I was about fourteen or fifteen though. 7chan was also unblocked, but it's dead as fuck and what activity happens is mostly retarded. If you're really bored check it out, but don't pretend it came recommended, heh.
>>265803 Refuge in obscurity works on the internet. It's the same for the Great Firewall: the big "problematic" sites are blocked but places you've never heard of can be reached, no matter how crazy they are. Obviously it's better to use a VPN anyway because every site you go to, obscure or not, is tracked.
>>265804 >need me to privately verify You still have that Reddit mindset. Imagine giving away your anonymity, even to a board owner you trust. If you're underage just pretend you're otherwise, no one can stop you. The 18+ rule is purely for legal deniability.
>>265839 Testing. 1- I set the Overboard page to the "Orange" theme and the time to "Relative" 2- I saved the JSON settings file, as shown in the first pic attached. 3- I opened in a new tab the mlpol Catalog page, the Orange theme showed up as expected 4- I opened in a new tab the anonfilly page and it loaded with the default settings 5- From the anonfilly page I loaded the JSON settings file to force the Orange theme and the relative time, which were applied correctly. However the Options dialog shows default values, weird. As shown in the second pic attached.
>>265848 >>265849 Just happening now. I reloaded the Overboard page with the internal page option showed in the pic. The page reset to default values again and the Options dialog shows the default values.
>>265848 >However the Options dialog shows default values, weird. I am still tweaking the load and save function, and going to try to do full review of that code. Does the values display correctly when you do a reload of the page (after load of saved options)?
>>265850 I will do some checking and coding and trying to get the save/load working fully. The fix I did might not have fixed all errors in that functionality.
>>265866 >I'm getting the error: 400 - Bad Request once every 10 post on average. Strange, I will keep an eye on it and try to figure out what the reason might be. The browser should not have anything to do with an 400 error, so would be a server side problem. I will try to add more info to the error logging system so I get a clearer picture of what happened, and hopefully more importantly why.
>>265869 >The page's tab not always displays new posts. Not sure the actual reason (I have to investigate further). But instead of waiting for a scroll event Firefox does a check if you have scrolled to the bottom in the background while thread is not in focus. I also see there is rendering errors on FF, there is no spacing between the posts. So I will look into if there is a way to get Firefox to render correctly.
I tried to post with Firefox 5 times. The first and second time with proxy and I've got error 400 - Bad Request. The third and fourth time with proxy, but the error was the same. The fifth time, without proxy again, I've got error 502 - Bad Gateway. The sixth time was successful with Brave browser. So, it looks like I would have to use it from now on.
>>265873 >I've got error 502 - Bad Gateway The 502 Bad Gateway is an error stemming from the restart of the software (the period when the server isn't responding).
>>265880 >>265549 >It appears that any names that were used weren't carried over. I understand how names may be undesirable, but they do serve a purpose and sometimes I'll search for greens by writefag name. Any way that they can be restored to previous threads? Sorry for late reply (missed your post sadly). I am aware of the missing names, and have been extracting them all from the old backups and will add them to the database. So hopefully in not too long time all names will be updated and back to what they were. The reason they are missing is a small error in the import function I made when adding the data from the backup material.
So I guess I'm just retarded then. I can't find the "don't spoiler images" option anywhere. Same with making the actual reply box I'm typing in larger.
>>265906 >"don't spoiler images" option anywhere You can't set to un-spoiler all images in Options as of now (perhaps an option I can consider).
>>265912 >That's a dealbreaker. Well as for now (and foreseeable future) JS will be required. I might in the future look at making it work with JS turned off. But there is many other functions and fixes that is way more important that that right now.
>>265936 >I can't post ): Where and why (error message etc.)?
>>265906 >Same with making the actual reply box I'm typing in larger. To make the Quickreply box larger you need to drag the corners of the Quickreply dialog. To make the reply box in the Form at top larger you can drag the Textarea box. Reason for dragging textarea not being in the Quickreply dialog is that it messes with the styling too easy. This is something I might look at later.
Did small update. In case automatic update hangs or you get an timeout, please reload and it will iron itself out (just initial load from update that causes a small delay).
Reporting. Browser is Firefox 74.0 It just happened, I tried to post and I've got "400 - Bad Request" (first screenshot), then I tried to report a post just to see what happens and I've got again the same error (second screenshot). I tried again to post and an empty dialog showed up (third screenshot). So, I used the browser's refresh button and I could post successfully. Additionally the options still won't stick and I'm unable to delete or report because of errors (fourth and fifth screenshots).

This happens every time, making it impossible to read all of a post unless I enter the thread and click Show More on the post from within the thread.
>>265700 Sorry code is not public at the moment and I haven't decided if I should make it public. In any case there is a few polishing touches that has to be made in order to make it friendly to set up.

>>266073 >I assume this is Firefox specific and you don't have this problem with the other browsers? Correct. I just installed a new distro with Firefox 68.7.0 ESR (Extended Support Release) and the problems are the same.
I've noticed that since the recent update, the image address file uploading tool has vanished. I used to use the hotlink tool a lot, especially when I wanted to dump a lot of images that I didn't necessarily want to save. One of my favorite assets of this site was being able to hotlink up to five files at once from other sites, and I'm somewhat disappointed that it has seemingly been removed. Is there a a setting or site option i can set my browser to so that it will enable that tool again? I was about to make a /qa/ thread for this, but I figured I'd post it here first.
>>266225 >I've noticed that since the recent update, the image address file uploading tool has vanished As of writing it is sadly not a function that is in the immediate plan to reintroduce. Reason for this is that unless I use a proxy server to download the file to our server we will potentially open ourselves up for DDOS attacks.
>>266240 It is a known bug that I am working on. But since it isn't a breaking bug it has been put on the lower priority list.
>>266354 >Haven't had this issue before today, but now it pops up around 10% of the time I try to load a page. Strange, there shouldn't be any problems as I can see. But I will try to keep an eye on it. Might be teething problems with new code and some optimization needed on the database queries.
>>266356 Nice ID name, lol. Do you have any idea when hotlinking could be possibly functional again? I was really fond of the tool, especially for long image dumps (saltposting threads, porn threads, etc). My computer isn't in really good shape, so it takes a while for me to save and repost pics.
Now I'm using the Brave browser without issues so far. But I just found a bug, the first pic shows a thread's last post done 20 minutes ago; but in the Overboard page shows a new post made only 11 minutes ago (second pic). So, the thread isn't updating even as the update seems working.
>>266400 >Do you have any idea when hotlinking could be possibly functional again? Could be a way down the road. Would need to set up a proxy server or use VPN to fetch the images to the actual webserver (to prevent potential DDOS). To do that I would need to do a bit of research and there are more pressing things that I need to do first with the code. But I will see what I can do.
>>266456 >So, the thread isn't updating even as the update seems working. Not sure what the reason could be. I will do some testing with the javascript to see if there is a way to trigger that bug. But from all I can see it is a client side bug (javascript), and if you know how to trigger the bug it would be helpful (like were your computer in sleep mode prior to this or...)
>>266467 >But from all I can see it is a client side bug (javascript), and if you know how to trigger the bug it would be helpful Actually this behavior begun with the introduction of the new code and it happens in Firefox and Brave. Let me explain. When I publish a new post there's a delay from 1 to 15 seconds (the average is 5) to update the page and to show that new post. Hitting the "[Update]" text at the botton of the page to force the update does nothing. My report at >>266456 and >>266457 was because at that time couldn't update the page, either using the browser's Refresh button neither closing the page and reopening again, it was like the browser was reading the cache and not loading data from the /mlpol/ server.
>>266469 >at that time couldn't update the page, either using the browser's Refresh button neither closing the page and reopening again, it was like the browser was reading the cache and not loading data from the /mlpol/ server. I could load new posts after the fourth try closing and reopening the page.
Couple of problems: >1. When are you going to bring back "Drag and drop file selection"? I'm asking because I cannot provide screenshots without opening a second program. <2. Pressing the [Update] button gives me this error. This only happens with my computer browser, which I think may have something to do with uMatrix?
>>266540 >>1. When are you going to bring back "Drag and drop file selection"? Drag and drop is already added. Just drop a file into the "No files selected" area (it will turn darker). I might want to redesign a bit to make it cleared. ><2. Pressing the [Update] button gives me this error. Looks like the browser opens the javscript reference as a "link" instead of running the javascript command. I'll do some changes and turn it into a trigger instead to make it compatible with Pale moon browser (not sure why pale moon would open it as a link).
>>266540 On mobile, I can't delete my own posts from the Overboard. When I try to do this I get a "That board doesn't exist!" error message. Does anyone get this on PC?
>>266607 I can't delete my posts at all on mobile, I keep getting the same message about the password not being correct that would make mobile deletion impossible before.
>>266609 What post did you try to delete and can you check that your mobile don't reset password between browser starts (if older post you try to delete).
>>266611 There is a small bug that you can't delete from Overboard (I have to make some changes to the javascript code to take overboard into account). To delete using the menu you have to navigate to the thread (or board page).
>>266612 >To delete using the menu you have to navigate to the thread (or board page). Yes. I confirm the deletion works fine from the thread, at least with Brave browser.
>>265307 The letter limit is a bit short, and the site likes saying "too many letters to post" while the number in the bottom-left says I've got 6 more letters left. Can the letter limit get upgraded from 6000 to 9001?
>>266775 6000 is plenty, Nigel. For the rest of you, to show you that I'm not just talking out of my ass, this is the kind of spam that's possible with 6k characters: https://mlpol.net/Test/1212#1496Also side-note that cross-board linking doesn't appear to work with /test/. On /sp/ it just posted greentext, but I keep getting a bad request error when I attempt it here. >>>/test/1496
>>266846 Is 6K really plenty when deep literary analysis posts keep getting broken up into halves, thirds, or even quarters? 9001 won't be much better, I picked the number for the meme. Something like 20,000 would allow for longer posts. Sure, someone could post 6k Ms or 9k Ms or even 20k Ms, but the Delete Post button is at the top of a post. So increasing the post limit to 100,000 won't change how easily it'll be for a mod to remove the posts of any spammer who wants to take advantage of a generous word count.
>>266775 >The letter limit is a bit short Wall of texts are not favorite around here. The more packed a text is, the more it will be disregarded and boils down to the KISS principle.
>>266626 Not at the moment, and it is not ready for public release anyway. And I have not decided yet on making it open source (much cleanup needed and commenting, etc. to make it public).
>>266775 As of now the 6k limit should be enough, and if more is needed two posts will solve that. But I will look into the discrepancy of 6 chars.
>>266846 That that kind of spam is not possible (reduced) in new code (limit on number of newlines). Also Big T >>>/Test/
>>266850 You need to have the file saved on your computer. Click and drag from a webpage is basically just dropping an link, and using URLs as file is not supported in current code. Only way that would work was if I was allowed to use your browser as a proxy (basically make your browser download the file before uploading it). But I highly doubt this will be allowed as it is a big security flaw if it was allowed as I would be able to make your browser download anything I wanted.
>>266925 Do you ever get tired of this? It's the same faggot from the other thread, huh? Explain why you believe I'm samefagging. Try to justify your behaviour this time, in this thread. And the next one, and the next one... You really need to find a new hobby. Might I suggest Speedrunning?
>>266963 Well for one, you always scream like a cornered animal in this exact way when you've been found out, and you also say shit like 'deep literary analysis' which nobody but a pretentious faggot or a redditor (and in no way am I implying the two are mutually exclusive :^) ) would do.
>>266976 >'deep literary analysis' >pretentious faggot Hello, this is big wordy boi from writefagland. What is your question fagget.
>>266897 Under 6K is plenty because of the needs of the average post of teeny tiny word and special character count with the update rate globally. The GlimGlam review thread with it's parts broken is easily readable without being lost in walls of text. Smoller word counts also encourage individuals to try to compress their ideas into as few words as possible.
>>266846 It is plenty in my opinion, fortunately the potential for spam is greatly reduced with the new collapse functionality. Also that moderation here is full of good people. Increasing the workload for no reason would be a dick move...
>>266469 >it was like the browser was reading the cache and not loading data from the /mlpol/ server. The bug is still here, the page isn't loading data from /mlpol/ after refresh neither after closing the tab and reopening it again. I'm noticing this happens not frequently but nevertheless is annoying, also the tendency is with heavy pages with more then 500 posts.
>>266976 >scream So overdramatic. You're the type of guy who claims to have a sucking chest wound whenever a mosquito stings you. It just dawned on me that you don't have a name. You keep trying to call me Nigel, while hiding behind anonymity. I've just been calling you "One of the Glimmerniggers" all this time, even though you're the only one of them who still cares about this. Every other one has moved on. I hope they're doing okay. So I think I'll name you Francis. After the boring one-dimensional villain from that Deadpool movie. I suppose naming you after a villain who turns to evil because he can't move on from something that happened long ago would fit better. But Francis was a boring faggot, and you are a boring faggot. So it fits like me inside your mother. Not all that well, but it fits enough to work. >>266980 Check out how many posts in the MST3King thread have to be split up into smaller chunks and posted separately. Writefags would probably appreciate a longer letter limit. A post that repeats "Penis" for 6000 letters would get deleted or hidden just as quickly as a post that repeats "Penis" for 20,000 letters. Spam is a non-issue because this site has good admins/mods. Some may have gotten used to the 6000 limit, but 20,000 is better because it's a bigger number. But not too large like 50,000 would be. That would just be too much. There is nothing to lose and a perfect number of letters to gain.
>>266989 I'm looking into the javascript update code, and trying to iron out any faults that can occur. Hopefully I managed to iron out a few of them so this should hopefully not happen any more (or at least the update code should be more stable).

I just know when to use it, unlike you. At my place of work and at school, I am x. Online, I am y, z, z1, (etc.) and Anonymous. You seem to lack the understanding that the greatest thing about many sites like mlpol is their lack of a required name. >After the boring one-dimensional villain from that Deadpool movie. Yeah, Deadpool sure was shit. It's a shame we don't have any other talentless hack writers on this site who think they're great but do nothing to support that claim. >So it fits like me inside your mother If you can fit your dick in the small mouth of the urn my family bought (approximately the diameter of a beer bottle mouth for reference), I will commend both your bravery, and will admit that your cock was not quite as small as I thought it was. >Writefags would probably appreciate a longer letter limit. >>267137 Archive seems to be working as intended, everything carried over nicely. Only complaint I have at the time is that if you don't click on the little view link and instead click on the OP image, you'll get a 404. Btw, any time-frame on Search being implemented?
>>267139 > if you don't click on the little view link and instead click on the OP image, you'll get a 404 I am working on fixing that. I noticed that myself after updating and I was hoping to have it fixed before anyone noticed. I will start work on search so hopefully in not too long, but I can't give definitive timeframe.
I thinking, looking at the Overboard sometimes /mlpol/ might look dead, when actually is boiling with activity in threads that won't bump because the bump limit was reached. The only way to see if there is some activity is visiting the Home page. May I ask to show such activity by bumping those threads in the Overboard page, so lurkers won't leave with the idea the board is dead?
hey, 8kun just added a small(purple) text tag, it done --so-- and has this color #6a1de2, its size its the inverse of red text(which by the way you can inline now on kun) so if normal is 1 and red is 1.1 then small is 0.9, what yah think?
I see some log entries of 405 errors and 400 errors when people are trying to post. If you experience any of these and can shed light on how you fixed the problem (reload of page - at least in 400 error will fix) or what you think caused it, please let me know so I can investigate further and add the appropriate logging of functions to see what function is causing it. >I know (sort of) reason for 400 error and I'm trying to device a way to make a fix for it.

Due to popular demand I changed the "remane/rename of files" before upload (to pesudo-random timestamp) to be off by default. If you want to turn it on again please go to [Options] and turn it on.
>>265307 You know the .MP4 videos uploaded to this site? Can you add a method to increase/decrease the video's speed? It would be cool if there was a clickable cog symbol that opens a Speed Slider, setting the speed in .1 increments from .1 to x2. If that's too much, a clickable Fast Forward symbol that multiplies the video's speed by 2 until you click it again would probably be easier.
>>267809 This. >>267673 Thanks, I also enjoyed seeing the funny things people named their files. Ignore this request if it's difficult to implement, but could you add flags to /test/? I've just always had to make throwaway posts in unrelated threads to test out vpns and the like in the past, would be nice to have an area to make sure the flag you want is showing up before making a post and risking it being flagless.
>>267835 >But can that be done on-site? Everything can be done. However I think isn't practical neither fair towards Pupper to ask for it. He has his hooves full cleaning up the code and what you ask goes against the KISS principle.
>>267835 It's an image board, Nigel. You have VLC on your computer, it would be unnecessary hours of work for something that would save one person a few seconds maybe one or two times. >>268221 If you hover your mouse over the flag, you will see the nation the flag is from and that would be the same admin we always had that works the code, that is given credit at the bottom of the screen.
>>268221 The German flag is due the the obsolete IP2Country database used in the old code that became more and more out of touch with reality because there was no more updates created for it.
>>265307 What if you could click a checkbox near the Name field while making a new thread to designate it as a Long Thread? This increases the letter limit within the thread from 6,000 to 99,999. This won't affect any thread that isn't turned into a Long Thread upon creation. People won't have to use this new feature if they don't want to. But if you want your thread to be full of long posts that don't have to be broken up into parts, that's an option. Someone might say >"But what if someone spams extremely long posts?" All long posts have to be made inside Long Threads, and extremely long spam posts can be deleted or hidden normally. A front-page spam thread like "In this thread everyone says penis over 10,000 times per post" could be moved to /sp/ easily. Making this feature optional allows for some threads to contain long and in-depth discussion posts without a letter count getting in the way, yet it still keeps the letter limit intact on other threads where shorter replies are preferred. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain.
>>268429 "Salvage"? Idea: increase letter limit because 6000 is a small number Problems raised: People might spam New Idea: Let thread-makers designate their threads as Long Threads, increasing letter limit within said threads. Any spam that might happen will only happen in big threads.
>>268441 Please stop being a passive-aggressive bitch. If you want to hide my posts, it will be easier for you to hide one long post than a series of three shorter ones. Everyone wins if the character limit is raised for everyone. And if a longer character limit is made optional, everyone wins, even the people who hate letters.
>>268448 And I support the 6000 limit not because I'm an ass, but because wall texts are hard to read. A separation is welcome to gain at least a bit of structure when reading it.
>>268451 But bitchily attacking my character isn't? If you have a problem with the idea of giving thread creators the freedom to go beyond the character limit in their posts, make an argument against it. Good luck with that.
>>268621 >can't handle being trolled, but bends over backwards to be troll-able >Make an argument I already have. 1. (you) 2. No one supports the idea, ergo its an unnecessary burden of labor to place on developers to implement and moderators to clean up after in the advent of detractors just so (you) can sperg more in each post.
>>268628 >more personal attacks >appeal to popularity fallacy >"but it'll take effort" fallacy >aside from those, no argument What do you think trolling means? Never mind, it doesn't matter what you think. Maybe if I stop rolling my eyes at your personal attacks against me you'll stop making them. I'll try that in response to the next "grrrr fuck you grrrr" post you make in the next thread we both end up in. Now Imagine a post that says "penis" 300 times. Then imagine a post that says "penis" 3000 times. The delete button is at the top of the post in both cases. You know what this means, right? It doesn't matter how long a spam post is. How long a spam post is won't affect how hard it is to delete or hide. So your "You monster, you want to place burdens on the moderators!" argument really doesn't make sense. Come to think of it, it would take moderators less time to remove one post that says "penis" 3000 times than remove a sequence of 10 posts that say "penis" 300 times each. Increasing the word count would make their jobs easier. Your arguments hold no water. Hell, in the time it took you to post that shite I'd convinced myself this long thread option idea was a stupid idea. Creating a "Long Thread Option" would require coding, too much coding for how little benefit it would bring. Who would ever NOT designate their thread to be a Long Thread if that was an option? Large post limits means no posts will be broken up into multiple parts, with each part counting towards the thread's overall limit. The "Long Thread Option" idea was intended to be a compromise with those who like small letter counts. But it's a stupid compromise. The only argument against boosting the post limit for everyone is that it might be a slippery slope that eventually leads to a letter limit of six gorrilion. But I'm pretty sure that won't happen. Even if the letter limit does get that big, what's the worst that could happen? Someone pirates books on the /ub/ board by posting all of the text within the book? Nobody has any reason to do that when uploading PDFs is so much easier.
>>268696 I apologize, you don't know how the code works >10 posts @300 penises/post Don't you wish, but no it will never happen outside a sophisticated script-kiddie system, and even in that event they would have to know how to do it. Your proposal involves opening up new avenues to assault, which I don't fault you for being oblivious to. Suffice it to say, and I'm reiterating, it would take a board consensus to make implementation of this idea a reality. In the meantime, if you are really bothered by how little you can sperg per post, you can always attempt to appeal to others. Who knows, maybe others want to sperg more in their posts, and feel restricted. >it doesn't matter what you think >your arguments hold no water Noh you >Hell, in the time it took you to post that shite I'd convinced myself this long thread option idea was a stupid idea. I can tell, by your lack of continued insistence. Tell me more about how you're above the idea and I'm an idiot.
>>268696 >Large post limits means no posts will be broken up into multiple parts, with each part counting towards the thread's overall limit. Oh my fucking god Nigel, we've already said that splitting up posts helps with readability. Do you even lurk threads where writefags hang out?
>>268711 >avenues to assault I've already addressed the "but what if someone makes long spam posts" argument. And that is the literal only downside to increasing the post count.

A New Paragraph can be formed.
I know, I know, "reddit spacing". Fuck reddit for making paragraph breaks look bad.
But like the English Teacher I had as a child once said: When you start a new topic, you make a new paragraph.
He never said anything about whether people are supposed to use them for emphasis or not, but...
Well...
A lot of people do this shit right here that I'm doing now, wasting entire lines on pointless "um uhh well" bullshit. >>268712 Yes. I post regularly in a literary analysis thread that shits on shit pony fanfics. We keep having to split our posts up into different parts, especially when chunks of text from shit fics are quoted. The letter limit bugs me a little but if nobody else is bothered by it and they like small limits, that's fine. Forget the "boost the letter limit" idea.
>>268742 >that is the literal only downside I didnt know you were one of the developers with intimate knowledge of the new code, from which you could make such a claim and have it not be spurious. You're also neglecting the fact that no one wants it, and if we're using opinions as arguments (which they're not, but for sake of dialogue) then I'm of the mind that structuring the board to cater to one particular idiot who can't be troubled to recognize he's either unique or in the extreme (and mostly silent) minority is a bad idea. Furthermore, telling everyone ELSE who doesn't approve "just filter the posts/poster(s) so Nigel can treat the board as his own personal fic platform" diminishes the quality, function, intent, and comfy of the site. Tl;dr You've already gotten your answer. Moving on.
>>268757 I didn't know you didn't know that I didn't know your mother last night. You're trying real hard to make this personal, because I suggested raising the letter limit on posts. Please get a hobby.
>>268888 Firstly big check. I'll look into the sub-header thing to see if it will be an easy addition (without messing with previous posts).
One way to achieve it (or an approximation to it) is by using the color tag and bold tag (without spacing): [ b ][ color #62d ].......[ /color ][ /b ] Example
>>268891 Strange. Try reloading the page and see if that helps. If it don't work try posting without attachment (if you are posting with attachment) to see if that is causing problems. If it is the attachment causing the problem please try to compress it into an zip file and post here and I will look at it.
>>268891 Think I caught the error and I will look into it. Looks like there is an error where I've set the upload limit too low (or rather forgot to set it so the default is too low). I will add fix for this in next update.
>>269048 No source code available at this moment. Not sure when or if I will make it available (in current state it is not prime for being made available anyway).
>Writing green >Over 6000 characters as expected >Cut off a portion for readibility and try to post the first half >Says I have 42 or so characters before I hit 6k, don't remember exact number >Won't allow me to post >Try reloading page and then trying to post again, same thing >Paste text into an external document and check character count, external doc confirms I'm well under 6k Would you mind looking into this? And no, Nigel, this isn't a fucking excuse to push your shitty idea more. The 6k limit is fine when it works as intended.
>>269455 It's been a recurring problem for me for a long time but I was too lazy to say anything about it. It may be due to a storage value because I believe the text limit is decreased with heavy files added, but I can't confirm.
It's being worked on. And by "it's being worked on," what I really mean is that I haven't done shit and have been telling people that it's being worked on for a long-ass time now. Gomenasai, Senpai.
Here's the short history of what's been going on with the store: the guy who set it up and was running it before is an anon from the board who has experience with ecommerce. As the end result of some altercations between this anon and another staff member, he is no longer on staff and is no longer connected with mlpol in any way. He had privately confided to me a few months prior that he was thinking of moving on anyway, and the original plan was for him to simply turn over control of the existing store to me.
Because of what happened, he decided to completely take down the store after leaving, so it no longer exists in any usable way. Thus, we need to set up a whole new store from scratch, including creating products and finding distributors, payment processors, etc. Since I was going to take it over anyway, I volunteered for the project. However, what I have since come to realize is that this guy was far more talented than he was given credit for, and that I know absolutely fuck-all about setting up and running an online store, let alone one that sells horsefucking Nazi paraphernalia.
I'm still friends with the original store anon, but he's basically said that he's moved on from mlpol and isn't interested in helping to set the new store up, which is understandable. However, I have become acutely aware of late that I may have bitten off far more than I can chew with this particular project. As such, the project remains in limbo until I can motivate myself to learn whatever the hell I need to learn in order to set up an online store that sells Nazi-related products potentially in violation of copyright law, that both manufacturers and payment processors are likely to be hostile towards.
Unfortunately, the best I can do at present is offer you the same vague boilerplate about how "it's being worked on" without giving any details, when in reality I am just procrastinating because I don't know what the hell I'm doing. However, if anyone out there has any experience setting up and running a business like this and would like to help, it would probably move things along a little faster. >>269782 I can understand the guy not wanting to work on this any more. But can't he at least tell you how you can make your own? If you fuck this up, there's a chance you could end up imprisoned. He shouldn't want that for you.
>>269923 There are plenty of ways as an individual you can create your own t-shirt, cup, condom range. I have not used manji in anything I have done but laws outside of germany are hardly strict. That is of course very different to running a business where all sorts of problems can happen. Plenty of NF funders in the UK who would support your endevours unless you are a wanker from LONDON.
>>270947 I don’t believe there is a hard limit to pinned threads, but I haven’t tested that in the new code, so I could be mistaken. We just temporarily removed the pin on this thread for better user experience. Scrolling through a lot of pinned content can be a little tedious, so once the derpi happening dies down, this will get repinned. After all, the code is still new and we still need feedback to any problems that need ironing out.
>>280177 The problem with Undo in Oekaki will need a bit more work to figure out. Could be that I am looking at the wrong place, but I have to decipher a bit of semi-minified code to figure out what they thought 6 years ago and what new method jQuery wants instead.
>>281802 The bumbing of pinned threads that has exceeded the "bumplimit" now "bumps" and will show up on Overboard.
>>282297 The reason for html file was converted to .txt is because of the file format detection code, and all plain text is set to .txt by default. The change in extension was implemented because as an example if an png file is uploaded with jpg extension the filename is chanced to the correct .png extension. I will look into a way to make this a bit better for plain text files and the myriad of valid plain text extensions.
>>282298 Giving it a second thought, a HTML to open without warning is a danger because of its executable payload. Perhaps TXT by default is just fine and anyone wanting to take the risk may rename it.
>>282297 That has to do with the unique files Hextml saves (as you might expect from the name). This file save includes the following maps. Sorry for the dodginess. Here are the pictures instead: >>282309 →
>>285579 Thanks. I will look into it. From what I remember cross-board and cross-thread links should not appear in the "linked" area. But I see I have some omissions there, or need to do some fixing. I will try to fix it for next update. I have some other changes and fixes I have to do to the code too to make it better for users (remove the 400 error when thread have been open for a while and you try to post).
