I often see threads about homesteading or going off the grid on the /pol/sphere, but what would it actually take to go off the grid and maintain as much modern comfort as possible (Clean running water, hot water, 24 hour electricity, internet, heat and AC, ect)? I am going to guess that the average homestead would use MORE energy than the average home in America simply because the people living on one would need to build much of their own stuff so they would basically need a small machine shop. Would this be something that would be easier to do with a group? How much land would they need per person if everyone was going to have 5+ kids? Also post technology that will make the dream easier. Pic related it is a wood gasifier.

Pretty sure this belongs in >>>/üb/, particularly as more content is always welcome there. I recommend reading Daisy Luther's work on the subject including what's available on her site: https://www.theorganicprepper.com/

Ah the wood gas stuff. Burn wood get charcoal and wood gas. Don't underestimate the power of those combustible fumes.

Escaping ZOG's grasp is inherently political.

I think homesteading is something that would be better for a group than an individual. Especially if the members of that group had skills that complimented eachother.

Pic is a diesel generator. You can produce diesel from a variety of sources so that will be one of you best bets for energy production.

So first things cheap, effective, and reliable ways to do these things.

First thing is to make stuff that lasts. The second thing is being able to reuse just about everything.

Rivers and creeks are great for powering anything. Classic means of power. (Plus unclean water which can be turned into clean water)
The sun, praise Celestia, can get things toasty.
Farmable land for at least Seven people (You, your wife, the five kids, and enough left over that a few bad seasons won't be the end of the world)
Highly recommend having various herbs and spices where possible.
Even more land for animals.
Aquaponics could be an interesting way to get some more meat into the diet and boost the nutrients of the plants.

It's all a problem of scale. One person doing everything will run you ragged.
Having twenty (working adults ten men ten women that means about ~fifty children) each doing a specialized job can be more efficient (can also run you ragged, and hopefully you can do what you actually like). Children do need an education, especially for the crap they will have to deal with in the world.
They also need you, so having free time and spending it with them is important.

Each person will need enough food, water, shelter, waste disposal, and other necessities.

One thing that should be considered is all stuff that is really hard to produce on your own, but is abundant and low cost for the rest of the world (buy in bulk if it can keep, it's cheaper).

For even longer term generational housing insert blackpill about shit hitting the fan having a genetically fit population (husbands and wives for your children, and your friends children), and enough genetic variation to not bad genetic effects.
Which brings me to healthcare, and the weird ass shit that can go so terribly wrong at any given moment. Then that will get into restarting civilization from scratch which is certainly something.

To start with? Get something that makes other stuff.
A sturdy long term house with everything you can possibly think of will be important. Have resources you can get (the land, water, sun, weather, air, everything)
