Just remembered something. I know it sounds silly, but many months before the 2020 elections, I actually had a dream about the elections and the aftermath:
In my dream Trump initially lost but the Democratic Party's candidate didn't rule for long (or perhaps at all?) In late 2020 and early 2021 (still in my dream), there were bunch of happenings and a lot of drama. There was sense of panic but then suddenly I am in front of a TV watching a broadcast and say to myself something like "nothings has changed, or at least not for the worse". I don't see what Trump is doing as acceleration, I see it as exposure and gathering of sympathy. he has completely exposed every single level of government as corrupt. the courts, the congress, even his own VP. second, he has made himself into a Julius Caesar figure, "et tu Pence?". exposure and sympathy are much much more powerful forces on society than on bad story.

Trump has discredited American democracy this way, what has acceleration's attention ever done, nothing! Attention is by itself worthless, if it is pointless. so if we lose X right, how are people supposed to react? maybe get mad for a while, maybe call a politician, not much happens. trump exposes American democracy as corrupt on every level. Now basic democracy is now dysfunctional because no one believes in it. why vote or run for office if the system is rigged.
