I remember the wind was kind of cold and my little sister wanted a candy, but we didn’t have any and that annoyed my mom. My dad mentioned the thing about the Pirates while he was talking to my my brother. I thought it was neat.”

Also, I can't recommend enough reading Mine Were of Trouble by Peter Kemp. Not only is it a detailed and engaging account of the Spanish Civil War from the Nationalist side, but it shows a window of life in that tumultuous time and is well-written.
