Mala steps closer to Mint Marine, and places a paw on him, and then a foreleg. He starts to pet him.
Silver looks sadly at the colt.
"Oh...I am so sorry, Mint. But that is why ponies like me and Mala exist. We are here to stop baddies."
“I… I know.” He says. “I know.”
A grave expression has likewise consumed White Orchid’s face, even if he hold together better.>>152510
“I think it’s kind of helpful.” He says
“I don’t see the problem with sitting.” He says, making an awkward smile
As Mala pets Mint, Silver decides it would be a good idea to in turn pet Orchid.
White Orchid turns, looking strangely at Silver. He is still dressed in a large dragon-serpent costume. Silver gets a feel of a red fabric set of scales on Orchid’s back. Again, he is less comfortable with touching than Mala is, evidently.>>152513
“Heh” he responds, stretching a leg, and lounging about.
“I’m just fine with this. All if this.” He replies
She likewise stretches out her body, pushing her forelegs up above her. "Does your school encourage swimming?
I think they oughta."
He smiles sheepishly at him.
"Sorry. My ways of soothing others is rather limited."
"My school doesn't have a pool" He says
"Kind of limited in the physical education. Rope climbing and dodge ball, but we're inside the city. We don't have a full sized race track.">>152516
He looks back
"Anyways...maybe I could see what your play will look like? Mala and Mint can continue to bond if they wish to."
"Well, yeah. But there's walking. And jogging. And being a waiter. Besides, I've never worked in the fields.>>152519
"Yeah! We've only been working on it for a few days now. It was Dark Star's idea, you know."
"Really? He told me he visited you, but I did not know he was artistically inclined. Show me!"
"Well, come this way." He says, turning to the doorway. The long tail of the costume nearly hits Silver along the way
Silver's dexterous reactions help him evade being hit, certainly. He follows the costumed colt.
I think I have to sleep now
"Well, I suppose my grandparents had to pull a plow. But I didn't figure I ever would." He says. "I kind of hoped I wouldn't have to."
>>152527"You're lucky. My pa didn't grow up as a farmer, but my ma did, and depending on the type of work it wears on you."
She continues melancholically, "Plus there's always the risk of the harvest not being enough...."
"Yeah I'm... I'm not sure I ever want to be a farmer..." He looks over for a moment. "Just being a waiter wears on me."
>>152529"It ain't that bad...,"
she says, smiling at him. "We all have to start somewhere, but you'll find better work for sure. What are you plannin' eventually?"
wonders what the orphanage play will be about
Silver follows the little pony down white washed hallways, past wooden doors, and to a set of double doors at the end. The doors open into a room that spans both floors, sloping down with rows of seats towards a raised wooden stage. The chairs have built in wooden tables in front of them, and the whole room most closely resembles a university lecture hall. With white walls, a shallow stage, no backstage, and large windows providing natural light the room is suboptimal for a play, yet still silver can see that and effort is being made. Three foals are on the stage . One pink unicorn filly wears a white, thin garnet, while a green and a brown Colt each wear face paint, interestingly, of whichever of those two colors, green and brown, the colt lacks. There are two large paper machete trees on the center right and center left of the stage. Two nuns in robs sit in the first row, watching them.
"Hmm...this looks quite nice! What is play about?"
White Orchid walks ahead of Silver. The tail, long and unwieldy, touches the ground and drags along it as he descends down the sloping center path. He attempts to turn to Silver
“It’s a play about the story of Saint Colopa.”
Both nuns turn to the two arrivals, and one starts to get up.
Silver nods to the nuns, and smiles to Orchid.
"I am bit fuzzy, what is story of Saint Colopa?"
“It’s a Saint. From the early days after Hearthswarming. She went further south, and came upon some native ponies. And they didn’t trust her exactly. But there was this river, and this river had a ferocious monster. Or so they said there was a ferocious monster. And then one day she had to cross this river, and she had some of the leaders with them because they were going to a meeting or something. Like, some sort of dispute between clans and she was trying to mediate if, but they had to go back to their sacred place which was across the river. Anyways, there was this river. And the river had a monster in it. And the natives thought the monster would attack. And it almost did. But Saint Colopa tried to talk to the monster, and it was threatening at first, but they found out that the monster was just afraid of the ponies because of their traps and how they placed logs in the river. So she showed the monster kindness and befriended the monster. And this impressed the leaders of the clans, and got them to stop fighting each other. And they later joined Equestria, probably because of her and that day.”
Silver smiles wider.
"It is story that is example of what makes Equestria special. It is also kind of like meeting Mala, do you not think?"
The colt tries to look back, finds that the costume doesn't really allow this, and then tries to turn all the way around, with the tail squishing up against a wooden base of a table top. He tries to look up at Silver, within the frame of the red and yellow costume.
"Like what?" He asks
"You saw Mala and were afraid and thought he was ferocious, but when you got to know him, you found he was rather friendly."
He turns his head away, which has the effect of turning the dragon's head away.
Silver resists the urge to pet Orchid to cheer him up.
"I like what you have set up here! Do you know if play will be open to public?"
"I think it would be neat if it were" He says.
However, a green earth pony (or pegasus?) mare with green coat, and bright blue mane walks up, wearing the black robes of a nun.
"Are you here looking to adopt or foster?" She asks. Then, baring teeth
"Or are you from the State?"
He looks over at the nun, and shakes his head.
"I am not from State, no. I am just visiting with White Orchid right now, but maybe in near future..."
He cuts himself off as he looks around again at the set.
"Why is play not open to public?"
"Are you a relative?"
Evidently she doesn't expect Silver to answer this question, as she blinks, and follows up with another statement
"They are foals. They are only just beginning to practice."
Silver avoids answering the first question anyways because of its answer.
"What about later date, after some practice?"
"I do not know, but I imagine there is at least one pony out there who would. Hang fliers around town, attract ponies to watch play of our history, and you can use event to encourage ponies to adopt."
"Perhaps it would give the foals a goal to follow. But for now, just putting on a full play for other foals would be an accomplishment. Maybe for a church or more if they are successful."
He looks at the stage.
"I do not know. They seem to be doing good so far."
"Well, we are practicing lines now. It took us several days to decide on a play. And to design props..."
"Can I stay and watch little bit?"
He smiles, and finds a seat to sit in.
Spark might be finally free tomorrow
Due to unforeseen events I won't be able to play for the next couple of weeks. I wish this was because of happy news.
