I may be emotionally numb but the one thing I will never forget the sound of the dirt hitting the ribcage of my dog as I burried him.
The only thing that is sadder is Hachiko.

Dog of Flanders is also a pretty good one.
If there's one thing that owning dogs has taught me, it's that everything will eventually come to a close. That it's important to cherish every moment we get with our loved ones, because they could end at any moment.

I had 4 dogs throughout almost 20 years of my life. I don't really remember the first one, but I remember when my second one got hit by a car. He died in my arms. I was merely 12 years old, and it was a very heartbreaking experience. The third one died at age of 3 as he went to a nearby forest and ate some fox poison. He was found dead a few days later. I couldn't even hug him, because his body was cold and already full of some worms. I didn't want another dog after that. But my parents were stubborn and bought another dog. Took me a while to accept him. We don't let him out of our backyard anymore, because we don't want him to die so quickly. I'm genuinely crying as I write this post. I still remember the dream in which I saw my previous doggo and heard the "True True Friend" song from the show. I'll never forget that.
